IOS yellow screen on boot

Whenever my battery completely dies, and I put my device in the dock, it starts after a while, but it has a completely yellow screen.
I have to manually hold power + home to restart it, and boot up while showing the apple logo. What could be causing this?

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. Just installed iOS4 a few days ago (iPhone 3G).
It happened twice since and it may be related to overheating issue while trying to recharge the battery.
I waited 10 min for the iPhone to cool down (it was quite hot) and then tried to boot it with success.

Updated to ios 6 over the air and when completed it froze on yellow screen, after that it stays on apple log but cant enter dfu, sometimes it freezes on blue but i dont know why it done this apple caused this

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Too many Yellow screens, too many emails - how to unsubscribe?

I started following a yellow screen iPhone thread after getting my yellowscreen 4S direct from Apple - C39 serial
Replacement No. 1, at Apple Store Covent Garden, also yellow, did not actually swap, although they messed up the paperwork to show I did.
Replacement No. 2. at Apple Store Covent Garden, special order, 'store swap pack' took a week to arrive, also yellow C39 serial.
Replacement No. 3. via applecare by UPS, 'swap packaging' courier was supposed to wait and collect original, didn;t wait, but just as yellow.C39 serial
Replacement No. 4. again via Applecare - I think, by TNT, full retail pack, also yellow, Apple charged for a second phone DNP serial
Replacement No. 5. again via Applecare - I think, by TNT again, full retail pack again, yellow again, Apple didn't have any record of this one until I told them.
At this point Apple who had been previously utterly useless and unresponsive suddenly became very helpful, realising what a mess this all was.  Wanted me to give them one last chance, would arrange collection of all 3 yellowscreen iPhone 4Ss, refunds for both phones, and an appointment at Apple store Covent Garden to allow me to see the screen before purchase.
In the event Apple store Covent Garden had no record of what my appointment was for.
It took just shy of an hour to open two iPhone 4Ss and find that both were yellow screen.  Both serials began DNP, and all their stock was either DNP or C39, this time the "Genius and Genius Manager were both very helpful, Genius could see the issue at once, Genius Manager was actually colour blind, so could appreciate the issue but not see it for himself - apologetic they could not meet expectation of 'the most amazing iPhone yet' having at least as good a screen as the 4. Well, I have, and set everything to 'off' but they just keep on arriving.  Does anyone know how to stem the flow.  I am very sorry for anyone suffering the insipid yellow screen of their 4S, but having decided to go back to my 3GS, I don't want to be updated five times a day..

Can you post back with the following.
    1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook - see Here for a further explanation.
    2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).
    3.  Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run a test on the Hard Drive.  Post back with the details of any error messages.

  • Blue or grey screen on boot

    Mac Pro 1,1; 10.6.4
On attempting to start up recently I got a screen in alternating shades of blue.
Trying to boot to a bootable CD gives me a 'you need to restart' grey screen.
Booting to the diagnostic works and finds no problems.
Booting in firewire target mode allows access to the HD and repaired some errors with diskutility but did not change symptoms. Subsequent checks show no errors.
Booting to an ubuntu livecd worked fine with generic graphics drivers (up to date drivers available but require a reboot).
Booting into safe mode has the blue screens alternating with a black screen with a white rectangle in the top left (about the size of an old terminal cursor).
Zapping PRAM doesnt seem to change anything.
Recent upgrades include +4GB RAM which I have removed and errors remain with the original 1GB RAM (2x512)
I have also replaced the graphics card recently, GT 8800 stopped working and I replaced it with another GT 8800.
The help pages on blue and grey screens seem to be mutually exclusive but both discuss removing peripherals and non Apple hardware.
Per above, I have tried the diagnostic/safe/boot CD options mentioned in both and the only option I cant try is removing the graphics card (unless there is a way to test a successful boot without a screen?)
I suspect it is either a graphics fault which ubuntu doesnt mind but OSX does, or a more complex disk corruption.
The next option appears to be erasing the disk with firewire/diskutil and attempting a fresh install (not sure why this would remedy the kernel panic on booting from CD).
Some logs have been populated in Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports, I can post fragments as required but am unable to interpret atm.
    Any suggestion appreciated.

    HI,

That is what is referred to as a kernel panic.

  • What happens between the chime & the grey screen on boot?

    Hi,
My Mac Pro has recently started taking up to 30secs to reach the grey screen when booting. The chime happens shortly after (re)starting, and then there's a significant pause, where nothing seems to happen (even the Apple Display stays in stand-by mode), before the HDD starts reading and the grey screen appears. I tried using Verbose mode, but the data it prints to screen doesn't start until after the long pause, so…
Anyone know what the Mac Pro could be doing? I've no other problems with the machine.
    Thanks,
    S.

    Hi,
My issue has been solved, apparently by a combination of a PRAM reset and re-selecting the startup disk in System Preferences. My machine now moves from chime to Apple logo almost instantaneously
The AppleCare representative was thorough and walked me through various steps that narrowed down the issue, and his hesitant conclusion was that somehow, as hatter suggested, the Mac was taking its time to find the appropriate boot device - possibly as a result of a change I had made in my BootCamp partition (Windows 7) or as a result of a previous PRAM reset (as hatter suggested).
    Case closed! Yay!
    S.
EDIT: So, Japamac, it was presumably the "system selection" part of the post-Chime process that was causing the delay. Didn't see your post till I returned to respond with this post, but thanks for the effort anyway

  • Yellow screen on start up

    yellow screen on start up

    You are very welcome.
I hate having to replace computers, get attached to them, but having the geniuses check this one out will save a lot of frustration.  A couple of these past discussions went on and on and on until the person gave in and did what you have done.  If it is hardware there just isn't anything on-line help can do about it.  Good luck tomorrow and if you have a chance, post the results...we are all fellow users on here and like to hear the resolution to problems.

  • 970 GAMING black screen when boot on cold start, have to clear CMOS everytime

I have 970 GAMING w/ FX8320, it shows black screen when boot on cold start, have to clear CMOS everytime to enter default.
I have updated it to the up to date M11 bios. Once it boot up, it functions OK no matter whether you reboot or reset it. But after turned off a few hours (cooled down), it shows on black screen again on boot, all LED lights up OK, but I can hear the fan like keep rebooting, any idea?
    PSU seasonic 430W, GPU HD7750.

In what DIMM slots did you insert your memory?  I just got and at this moment building a new computer with a 970.
A horrible experience I had with my last build reminded me of it.  My board was am MSI A88XM-E45.  DIMM1 is blue, DIMM2 is black, DIMM3 is blue, & DIMM4 is black.  When using two sticks of RAM, it says to install one on DIMM1 & the other in DIMM3 (Makes sense... After all, it's color colored that way).
Well it would not boot.  I reseated every component and for HOURS tried almost everything.  Finally I decided to place my two sticks of RAM in the first two DIMMS and viola!
I think I will begin this build the same way.

  • Yellow screen light

my iphone 4s has a yellow screen light,.why like that? while my friend who own 4s also has a white screen, better than mine..

INteresting. i just got an ipad2  2 days ago. (amazing hubby surprised me!) and i guess i'd have to hold it up to another ipad to see if it's yellowish at all.
where was light leaking from....the sides? (trying to picture it)
as far as if it would bug me.......i'm like you and if i notice something that bugs me....then every time i used my ipad, i'd be noticing it. i'd rather not have light leakage, i'd likely just get used to the warmer tones on screen. it's probably better for your eyes anyway. they are probably doing it because it's hard to read on compared to a Kindle. that's my 2 cents.

I'm at the beach right now then when I was taking pics, the yellow screen appeared. Turned it off last night, but its still there.

How long have you had your phone? Because if you've had it a long time, the battery in the phone might of died on you. Or have you dropped it in water, snow, from high up? All those things could of disconnected something internally in your phone, or permentaly damaged the internal hard drive its self, or the sims card.
