IOS4 apps - very slow approval process?

I noticed we have 4,000 apps now iOS4. We still have 333,000 to go.
Anyone guess how long until even our favorites will be iOS4 ready?
It feels like it's 200 a day update (including the 10 each replicants that have separate puchase promotions).

It's not the approval process that is slowing them up, it's that the developers aren't updating their apps as quick as you'd hoped.

Anyways, When I first bought it I straight away backed up everything and saw that i had many updates on my apps. I started updating it all at once but even the first one was not loading at all and mty ipod was hanging many times during the updates so i cancelled all the updates. i even tried it on my computer and it was taking forever but my laptop does updating and downloading apps slower than my ipod so that doesnt matter. Even when I download an app on my iPod now its take more that an hour. So i was wondering, is my iPod slow cause I backed up too many things when i just got it . I have about 120 apps 150 plus photos and 70 videos and I backed it up all in one night on the day i got my ipod. So now I'm restoring my iPod and updating it to IOS 5 and see what happens. Hopefully it will be faster then but I still need to know what is main problem of m iPod hanging and slow updating/downloading. Need a reply ASAP. Thanks

Still you can switch it off while syncing.
You can also do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)

I bought a new faster laptop but when I looked for the cd with the software and serial I could not find it in the Xmas clutter. I downloaded a trial version of lightroom and got it working on my new laptop. Is there a way to access the serial number from my previously installed version and insert it into the trail version to make it work for me?

Mea culpa
While i registered all my cs2 thru 6 versions and my lightroom 2 thru 4 versions and recorded the serials and saved the adobe registration emails. Since this came as a freebee with the camera i neglected this vital step. I have the instslled version on my old laptop but want to install it on my new one. Thanks to Jim Hess I got the serial so all is well in my world and I will register it with ADOBE

Slow approval process

Hi All,
We are having a weird problem with approving files in
Contribute. Whenever our web person receives an approval request it
takes 5 or 10 minutes for the approval process. We thought maybe it
might have to do with the fact that we had an older server. Even
after upgrading to a new server it has not changed things. Computer
specs are:
Dual 3.0ghz Quad Core
8gb RAM
Windows server 2003
750gb data drive
Apache
WSFTP Server 7.0
Has anyone run into this behavior?

CD drive not recognized & Very slow boot process.

After a few years alternating between gentoo and debian, feeling they were ok, but not exactly what I wanted, I found Arch, and now I am happy. It feels just right. I am still very new, but I am already quite sure I'll settle here.
But happyness and warm feelings asides, I have a 2 problems I'd like to get some help about.
problem 1: my CD drive is not recognized. my hard drive and its partitions show up correctly, but I don't get a cd drive.

problem 2 and 3 are probably related, and linked to the new pata system in the kernel, but I don't really know anything about it, and my understanding of the mkinitcpio is very very limited. here is mine anyway, comments stripped.

Oh, and the machine I am using is a 4 year old laptop. Nothing in there is scsi or sata.

Hi, I'm a "newbie" too. Coming from Gentoo/Debian. Installed Arch this week and I think it could be just the distro I have been looking for.
I too had the same problem and think it's related to the pata modules. ¿Did you have to use the legacy-ide option when installing from the CD? I'm using old hardware (4 year old laptop) and had the same symptoms you are describing. I exchanged pata with ide in mkinitcpio.conf. My MODULES and HOOKS looks like this:
MODULES="ide_disk ata_generic"
HOOKS="base udev autodetect ide keymap filesystems" (deleted scsi and sata also because I don't think I need them).
Then run mkinitcpio.
I also had to change my device names in /etc/fstab from:
/dev/sda2 / ext3 defaults 0 1
/dev/sda5 swap swap defaults 0 0
to:
/dev/hda2 / ext3 defaults 0 1
/dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0
And finally /boot/grub/menu.lst from:
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda2 ro
to
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/hda2 ro
¿Any experienced user can confirm that I'm doing the right thing? I didn't find documentation in the wiki for old systems. Only the mention of an ide-legacy option.

Notes app very slow.

ive had this problem for quite some time, but i seem to remember that i didnt have the problem for the first six months or so. quite often when i press the icon for the notes app, it opens reasonably fast, but then if i want to add something to a note, when i press on the screen to bring up the cursor, this quite often takes up to 10 seconds. my first guess was that maybe this happens when the note is too long, but i tested that once and the same thing happened on a new note. my other guess might have been that this is because of OTA syncing with ios4, slowing things down, but i know this isnt the main cause, because, as i said i have had this problem at least since 3.0 .any ideas?

I have the iPhone 3G running the latest software and I have noticed the same problem. When I open the Messages app it takes ages to open it.
Someone told me that if you delete your messages it fixes it but I don't want to lose them all. Has anyone else seen this issue? Has anyone tried deleting their messages to see if it helps?

Apps very slow to open and work

My mac mini (i7, 4gb ram, 1TB HD, 700 Gb free) has become excruciatingly slow to load apps: the iWork or the MS office 2011 programs, the icon just keeps bouncing on the dock - I can literally go make coffee in the meantime; once opened, it still lags 5 minutes before I can begin working. Up to a few weeks ago, it was very snappy - opened as soon as I clicked on it and I could work in 2 seconds... but I haven't installed anything, have just kept the system tuned with updates and disc utilities... Any ideas? Thaks in advance for your help!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

Terminal.app VERY SLOW to bring prompt after it launches

Hi,
Has anyone else noticed that, after launching Terminal.app, it takes a very long time to get to a shell prompt? The window opens, blank, and just sits there for like 10-15 seconds until the shell prompt comes up.
What gives? It was definitely not this slow in early Leopard levels or any previous x86 build of OS X..

Well, to be fair, I am a solipsist.. Therefore my problems are everyone's problems..
Anyways, that appears to have done the trick, but it has gotten rid of all my prefs.. I would like to see what pref or update change frobozz'd my preferences plist, since I haven't changed terminal prefs since at least 10.4 (probably earlier, since this Macbook inherited from a Powerbook that had 10.2 initially).. Wouldn't surprise me if it were a font issue... Shall have to inspect the file..

CS6 indesign & illustrator very slow in processing

since i installed CS6, both illustrator and indesign work extremely slow when moving objects, fonts etc.
the documents are not big, just one spread full of text and the programm takes too long to process the action.
working in CS5.5 was always fine but CS6 is just so slow that work has become difficult.
i didn't change anything in fontexplorer nor did i change anything with my RAM.
and idea what i can do to make CS6 work better and more efficient?

All Adobe apps very slow and sluggish on my rMBP late 201

I'm using Adobe for a few years now.
Since october last year i purchased Adobe CC and bought myself a beautiful retina Macbook Pro 15" late 2014 with the nVidia gt750m 2GB.
I use Photoshop, Indesign and Photoshop the most. And what ever i do. I run into slow performance and slugginess. It's laggy even on an empty document. Its really breaking my patience as it slows me down in my school projects. What can I/we do to fix it?
I really need this. I switched from windows to Apple for the better workflow and performance, but i keep asking myself if it was a smart decision.. Not that i am thinking of buying a windows again lol. But i need to get this fixed. I don't think a simple barely filled artboard should be a problem for a 2500$ macbook....
I hope we can fix this or at least better the performance. Any little degree of improvement would help a lot!

Apple typically doesn't get a major release right until around the dot four release. Yosemite has a bit of a long way to go before it's at 10.10.4 or 10.10.5 update—or they may decide to leave it to OS X 10.11.x. You pay the price of being an early adopter.
As far as for information, copy and paste the entire System info—minus your serial number—from the Help menu. Help > System Info.

There are a variety of solutions to you problem. But it depends on factors like:
- What platforms do you want to support?
- Does you code use any native calls or is it Pure Java?
- Do you want a native installer or a do you want the application to BE compiled as native?
First, It is my opinion that SUN's preferred deployment option would be WebStart, it is really cool, you should give it a look at least. Lets you distribute your application via a web site, let the clients cache it, lets you ascociate icons and splash screen plus a lot of other technical goodies.
If that is not an option, I recommend you take a look a this tutorial that talks about how to make you application look more native.

Android app very slow - is this just something to put up with?

We have created an Android version of an existing iPad dps app & folio, and even though we have removed features unsupported by Android, it still runs really (painfully) slowly compared to iPad.
We've seen discussions that this is a general issue with the Air-based Android viewer app, and there's little that can be done. Is this so?
We've also seen rumours that there is a new android viewer app due at some point soon, that will sort out the performance. Is this so? It would be useful to know anticipated release date so we can communicate this to clients - it will help appease them.

Not sure if you have read this ( http://forums.adobe.com/message/5773513) , but new Android tablets with x86 based processors are performing very poorly compared to ARM based Android devices (and iPad). We have customers who are getting very impatient and we dont know what to tell them. Any guidance or advice/timelines Adobe can provide would be very helpful to calm customer concerns.

Logic Pro 8 app. very slow to launch. Much slower than LP7

Since upgrading to LP8, logic is extremely slow to startup (5 minutes or longer) I haven't moved any files since running LP7 and have run disk utlilty. Unfortunately it didn't help. Anyone else had a similar problem or anyone got any solutions?

I have finally found out the reason for S L O W email send using Mail with AT&T email ISP.
AT&T has finally updated their SMTP outgoing mail server with one address for ALL the various email types, like my bellsouth.net account, that had been on separate AT&T servers. Here's what to do for Mail:
Account type: POP SSL checked on both incoming and outgoing
Incoming Mail Server: pop.att.yahoo.com and you must have email address and password for authentication
And here is what fixed the slow outgoing problem . . . the new outgoing address is:
smtp.att.yahoo.com I clicked "use default ports" and it worked fine but FYI they are using 465 . . . also email address and password required.

Creative cloud apps very slow on my computer?

My computer is just under 12 months old; has 8gb ram 1.5 Tb memory plus two extra HD's - one an extension, the other a back up drive.
Any thoughts on cloud being slow? Didn't think the extra drives would have anything to do with it.......

Your last sentence provides the probable answer - your C:\ drive is for your programs, NOT your media.
Move your footage on to another internal drive and that should help.
But to give real help, we need to know a lot more about your system, and the type of footage you are trying to edit.

Have accessed my bank on my iPad 1 using Mobile Safari 4 with no issues.
So that suggests their Website is working OK, except for 8.0.2, so, to truly test it. I need to go back 1 rev.
I am looking for away to de- install 8.0.2, I suspect that is fraught with problems, like, what happens to all your bookmarks? for instance?
There is also a chance that the episode I had with Malware coming in by installing MPlayer X and then having to deal with Its Malware installation of "ONLY SEARCH" may have done something. It has that look of trying to search for something and eventually not finding it, then completing the requested bank action.
