IOS4 & Bluetooth - Buggy?

I've been plagued by my bluetooth being buggy ever since the iOS4 install. Bluetooth shuts down, won't restart, won't recognize Jawbone. When I shut the phone down and restart, it seems to work ok again for a time. Anyone else seeing these issues?

I've had problems with my 3Gs ever since upgrading to iOS4. I have 2 headsets - both worked beautifully before the update. Now, at least once a day, the iPhone cannot 'see' either headset. I found that if go into Settings, General, Bluetooth then turn off Bluetooth and immediately turn it back on, it once again 'sees' both headsets. It takes a bit longer for the iPhone to actually connect to one. I usually end up pushing the button on the headset to force it to connect. It is really annoying. I have not yet tried forgetting both devices and re-pairing them. As soon as I get over being ****** off at the problems iOS 4 have caused me, I'll give it a go and let you know if it fixes this problem.

  • IOS4 Extremely buggy

I've installed the new iOS4 and it seems like it's the buggiest thing since Windows Me.
Every few hours it grinds to a halt, not responding to even buttons, mail with gmail stopped working, i lose coverage after hanging up a call and have to restart the phone to get it back and ive had the phone app not want to open a few times also (opens and shuts down almost immediately)...
Many times also after turning it off and back on I notice it goes back to the way it was when crashing and being sluggish, not even asking me for my PIN to enable the phone!
Right now now a fun phone to have!
Are there any solutions on the horizon??

  • IOS4  - bluetooth  bug.

    Hi,
I have an iPhone3G and I have successfully installed OS4. All works fine except fro the bluetooth: Now the name printed the car display are random char string. This is certainty a bug of the new iOS4 ... all worked with OS 3.1.3 ...

I've had the same issue. iPhone 3GS previously worked flawlessly but would not maintain a bluetooth connection via the Ford Sync system after upgrading to 4.0. It could sometimes pair and connect and on one occasion I successfully spoke for about 5 seconds via bluetooth, but otherwise completely fails to be functional.
AppleInsider reports that an updated iOS is being developed (4.0.1) for release early next week that addresses several radio and signal issues in 4.0.

  • Bluetooth buggy issues with iphone 5s after ios 8 upgrade

I am having issues with my Handsfreelink in my 2013 Honda Pilot after the ios 8 upgrade.Basically, music works the phone does not.
    What I have tried:
    1) Hard reset
    2) deleted and re-setup all bluetooth settings on both phone and car
I suspect this is a bug in ios8 that needs to be addressed. On a sidenote I am also unable to plug my phone into the USB port on the car, now says unsupported.

The same thing happened to me on my 2012 Subaru Outback.  I'm not sure this will help you since you have a Honda, but I'm posting this just in case.
I paired the audio on my car with my iPhone 6.  However, when I turned the car off and back on again, the iPhone would not pair automatically.  I had to manually connect the iPhone with the car.  Turns out there are two separate bluetooth pairings on my car: one for phone which allows up to 5 devices and one for audio which allows only one device.  So I did the second bluetooth pairing for the phone (had already done the audio), and that fixed it.  YMMV

The latest dot release of iOS4 has not remedied the situation.
    When will this be fixed?

    @tfbrodie
Sorry, no, i didn´t get the name of the supporter. Wouldn´t make a difference anyway. I´m sitting in germany and was expecting answers like that.
    @carlosrr
yeah, think you are right. most likely isn´t categorized as a bug - more like a new feature it feel´s like a "join us or die" attitude. i guess vw , merc and ford are more likely to do something against this than apple. too bad you cannot even downgrade from ios4 to 3.1.3. i find it quite funny that itunes reports a "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" while trying to downgrade though it clearly is (or should be being delivered with 3.1.3). I even expected the supporter to tell me it´s my own fault if i install untested software on my iphone absurdely after the call i was thinking about jailbreaking the iphone just to get the initial functionality back ... and man, am i glad i don´t have a 3G ... friend of mine told me his 3G is lagging like **** after the ios4 update. apple must be pretty sure long term customers don´t care about being deprived of features and the usability of their products by updates and simply buy a new one. too bad they are obviously right.
anybody knows if the problem persists with the iphone4 ? would mean no vw, audi, seat, skoda, lamborghini, merc and ford driver with built-in satnav´s could use an iphone anymore ?!?

  • IOS4 bluetooth functions not working properly?

    Hello there,
I have the iPhone 3Gs and it is updated with the iOS 4.0.1. The problem I'm having is that, not all of the bluetooth functions are working properly as it used to before, and I wanted to know if there was away of letting Apple know about it so that it could be fixed. I believe it's just a software issue, where there is a delay in conncetivity from phone to headset, but I'm not sure. I own the new, "Jawbone Icon" and it used to work fine before I've updated to the new iOS 4.0. I've tried doing a total rest with both iphone and bluetooth and both methods were unsuccessful. I've actually tested my bluetooth headset with another iPhone, that still had the previous iOS 3.1.3 software, and it worked exactly how it should compared to my updated iOS 4.0.1 iPhone.
The main problem I have is that for one, I no longer hear my phone's message tone in my headset when I recieve a text message, push notification, or even email to my iPhone. Before, with the iOS 3.1.3 software, I would alway here my message tone when I recieve any of those notifications. Which was convinient when I had my phone in my pocket and was in an area where I couldn't hear my phone when I recieved a message.
The other problem I have is that, while my phone is ringing, I would hear my ringtone through my bluetooth while the caller id function was being read to me. This was a little distracting at first, but not too much of a problem. The problem is, when my phone rings and my "Jawbone" reads back to me the caller's number - when I pressed the sleep/wake button to slients my phone, it would also cancel the caller id function that my bluetooth offers. This was a little inconvinient, especially while I was driving. In the state the I live in, while driving, the driver is not allowed to talk on their phone unless it is connected to a bluetooth device. Which is the reason why it would be the reason why i enjoy the caller id function provided by "Jawbone".
If there is anyone that could help me with this problem, or possible help me find a way to send this to Apple, I would greatly appreciate it. If anything, I believe that the new iPhone iOS 4.01 software has a slight delay on their bluetooth connectivity from phone to headset. But, nevertheless, any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Yung Vibe

    Yung,
Consider rolling back the OS if you can. Apple support should be able to help.
The bluetooth functionality in IOS 4 is definitely different and not for the better. I'm having serious sound quality and connectivity issues with both the Jawbone II and the Blue Ant Q1. I've called both support groups and bottom line is that IOS 4 has changed and the vendors haven't caught up or the OS has issues that the vendors cant compensate for. I've had to abandon the headsets and move to the delivered earphones. Even that approach has issues if you dont turn off the blue tooth IOS 4 will continue to connect to the bluetooth headset mid conversation. That's a new issue as well. Previous OS made the corded headset the priority and never let the bluetooth take over if the cord was plugged in. I hope Apple is working on this it's darn frustrating and I have an Iphone 4 therefore I cant roll back the OS to 3.

  • Car bluetooth not displaying contacts after upgrading to iOS4??

After upgrading my iphone 3GS to OS4.0, my 2010 Grand Cherokee will no longer display names when using the built in UConnect hands free bluetooth system. It worked fine before the upgrade. Now when I get a call, it will only show "incoming call" or a long string of numbers and letters. This is so frustrating! Fix this apple or let us downgrade until this can be fixed.

It may not be supported as of yet. The iOS4 just came out and not many searches are related to updating the UConnect standard. They are mostly related to the "MyGIG" UConnect version of equipment installed which are on the more expensive models (SRT8 for example).
You can contact Chrysler for more support information including the firmware update to allow iOS4 but they may not be able to answer your question for factory installation reasons.

  • Unable to use Bluetooth after updated to iOS4.2

I've updated my iphone4 to iOS4.2 however since then my bluetooth function is not available. Normally you can turn it on or off but I am unable to do this at all (General > Bluetooth). Has Apple changed this setup of how this works in OS4.2?

Restarted the device and it appears to be working again.

  • Bluetooth not working properly after upgrade to iOS4

I upgraded my iPhone 3g to iOS4 the other day. Apart from running stupid slow now, and even though i've done numerous hard resets, the bluetooth doesn't work properly anymore.
If I switch off bluetooth, then switch it on, it connects fine. Once I disconnect though, that's it. I have to restart it again.
Looks like all those complaints about iphone 4 are actually and iOS4 BUG.
I wish I'd never upgraded now. Actually, that's not true. I wish Apple would help me DOWNGRADE my iphone 3g so i can use it again. I will not go and buy and iphone 4 just cos of this. If anything I'll switch to Android just because a) i'm not a fanboy and b) consumers should not be treated in such a belligerent manner.
So, anyone know how to resolve this bluetooth issue? It's got to the point where it's dangerous in the car because my phone rings and I have to recycle the bluetooth to connect it.

The problem you are having following the upgrade to Leopard (10.5.6) from 10.3.9 is similar to those of people who have upgraded from Tiger, and has been covered by the support document at the link below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2537
Your issue will be due to files named to include MessageSorting (which would mean you once have upgraded from a version of OSX earlier than 10.4), remove those, also, but never restore those. You will not have the files named to include MessageRules because you have not used Tiger.
To find the correct location for the Mail folder, open a Finder window, click on the icon of a house in the Sidebar (this is known often as "Home"), click on Library in that Home user directory, and then to open the Mail folder found there.

  • IPhone 3G + iOS4.0.1 = NO BLUETOOTH

    Hi,
My bluetooth doesn't seem to be working (hasn't actually since upgrade to iOS4).
My macbook Pro sees it my I cannot pair it. Trying to reset my bluetooth tethering.
    Not sure what to do?
    thanks

Same issue with me, and it's very frustrating. My Macbook can see and attempt to pair with my iPhone 3GS, but my phone doesn't seem to want to play ball. I never had this problem until I upgraded to IOS 4.1 (it may have existed in IOS 4, but I just never noticed). Any word on a fix for this? Um, Apple, I'd like to tether my phone again please!

  • Bluetooth broken by iOS4

iOS4 has stuffed up my bluetooth, and I now cannot use my VW Touch Phone kit. The phone appears to pair correctly, but the contacts are never uploaded and it just connects and disconnects on about a 1 min cycle.
I cannot believe that I am not able to restore 3.1.3. What the **** are backups for if you cannot restore them - and if it was irreversible because of major OS change, why wasn't I warned?
Really, really angry about this. I use my phone in the car quite a bit for work.

New information: I performed a reset (holding power and home buttons) and now the bluetooth button have reappeared. It will let you switch bluetooth to the "on" position then it spins for a minute and goes back to "off".

  • HT1665 Why i can not pair my ios4 with my dell pc via bluetooth?

  • Backbeat 903 Bluetooth Headphones and iOS4

I have a pair of Backbeat 903 headphones (originally from Altec Lansing, now Plantronics) that I love, and they've worked great with my iPhone 3Gs for 6 months.
I just upgraded to iOS4 on the iPhone, and I found that the Play/Pause toggle button on the headphones no longer works correctly. If the music is already paused, it does nothing. If the music is playing, the button makes the audio cut out for a few seconds while the track keeps playing, then the audio comes back in after a few seconds.
I wondered if something had happened to the Backbeat's button, so I looked into exchanging it under warranty. Before sending it, though, I purchased a new pair. I just got the new pair and they are doing the same thing, which means this is probably an iPhone software issue or Bluetooth issue.
Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

I'm relieved -- I thought I had done a reset before, but I guess I didn't follow all the way through.
My bluetooth issue was fixed by holding down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time, waiting through the power down screen, blackout, and finally the silver Apple logo.
When I repaired with the bluetooth headphones, the play/pause toggle switch worked as expected.

  • Bluetooth paring problem on iphone4 / iOS4

    Hi,
I used to be able to do this (old iphone) but not anymore since I got to iphone4.
I used to be able to pair my S305 bluetooth headset with my iphone and Windows 7 / Macbook machine and be able to listen to music from my PC and take calls. I cannot do that on my iphone 4 anymore. Everytime when I tried to pair my headset to the second devices(iphone or my PC), it will generate a pairing error and will not connect. I have tried pairing in both order with no help. It seems as if the iphone does not let go with the bluetooth connection and keep using the headset.
    Have anyone seen this problem?
    Thanks.

So no one has seen this issue(???)
I upgraded to iOS4.1 hoping that this issue will get solved, but no luck. Whenever I pair my bluetooth headset to my laptop and turn on my iphone bluetooth adapter (pre-paired), my bluetooth connection screwed up. And the iphone 4 will not connect to the headset.
    Please help.
