IOS4 update: podcasts cannot scrub and do not have duration times
Following iOS4 update, a majority of the podcasts lost their duration times and cannot be scrubbed while playing. The 30 second rewind will send song to the beginning. Other music is fine, this is only related to podcasts. Did not affect podcasts broken into chapters. Help!
Same issue for me, iPod 2nd gen. Many (but not all) podcasts had no duration info and no scrubber, Strangely, two podcasts did have duration info, and one did not within the same podcast "folder". Deleting all the podcasts in a folder and downloading from iTunes does fix the problem, but I also noticed that podcasts newer than around July 1, don't have this problem. Me thinks Apple has updated the metadata to correct this issue since then.

First of all I cannot update my device because I do not have enough memory to update my device. So I started deleting my apps and to no avail could I get enough memory. If you connect to iTunes you can backup the phone, then update the phone through iTunes instead, where it doesnt require 3 gb free on the phone. -
I have just tried to update the software on my iPad and it is now asking me to connect to iTunes. The last time I did this it did not tell me to do this. I'm currently travelling and do not have my MacBook with my iTunes.Can it be resolved without iTunes

You really do want to restore with your own computer. There is an off chance that you might be able to backup first, but I really think it is a very slight chance now since you got the connect to iTunes screen. But on the chance that when you connect, it sees the iPad and allows a backup, I would to not have you wait to use your own Mac.
If you cannot create a backup, you will lose everything that you have put on since the date to the last backup. So of your last backup was three weeks ago, you will restore the iPad to the condition that it was in three weeks ago.
If you do a lot of traveling, using iCloud for backups might be a very good idea. I use iTunes primarily and I backup my MacBook Pro with Time Capsule, but I still use iCloud as a secondary backup. I don't have enough data that I have exceeded the free 5 GB that you get with iCloud, so I do use it just in case.
I can't explain what happened with the update, I can only tell you that it does happen to other users. I have never had a problem when I updated and I having been updating over WiFi since iOS 5 came out. Taking a guess, maybe an interruption in the connection - especially of you tried updating using a hotel's WiFi network, or a power surge maybe. Whatever the cause, it is most likely a one time thing. That doesn't help your situation I know, but hopefully it won't happen again. -
MY IPhone will not let me back up my phone or download the IOS 7 update because it says i do not have enough storage space. But I deleted all of my apps and pictures just to update it and it still wont let me do it. What should I do?

I need to update my phone, but my computer broke, and do not have a new one. can I use someone else computer to go through with the update if i log on with my itunes account or Is there a chance of loosing all my data, ie: music/photos? And if all else fails can i go to the apple store and have them update my phone?
Update to what? The 3G you want to update? You have ios3 or 4 on that 3G?

Make a backup of your stuff (from the phone. apps/photos/music/blabla). Update your phone. The phone will restore the backup automatically. -
When I check for software updates only itunes and random other updates show up but not security updates or safari update. When i check installed updates I realized my last security update was 2011-004 and I still have safari 5.0.6. Can anyone help me?
Don't panic. OS X 10.5.8 is the most popular PowerPC OS out there. People run it everyday without security breaches, including myself. It isn't Windows!

It had something to do with the date on my computer. Mavericks installer apparently does a date check of some sort and that is where the error is coming from. Open terminal and check the system date. It may be wrong. Another poster in the forums told me how to to check the date and change it. Click here for the link to the explanation. Be careful because the date is in a weird format.

If I have lost my music collection I will be switching platforms ASAP. It is insane that Apple has updates seemingly every day for their products.I was in your same situation with 14 downloads and 14 attempts.
You have to make sure that your Mac is booting into 64 bit mode. You can make sure of this by going into System Preferences and scrolling down to 'Software' and making sure that you are booding with 64 bit Kexts.
If not, restart while holding the 6 and 4 keys down until you see the spinning gear wheel and try installng again.
BUT, what I also did was to go into Applications, click on the Lion installer, Get Info, and give yourself custom priviliges to Read And Write.
I did this simultaneously, and I don't know what function did it, but it worked for me, with no further downloads of the installer.

I would like to reload the recent software update for iPad. When bringing it back up I skipped the Apple ID step and should not have.

Can we eliminate one minor possibility: are you in the UK and using Virgin Media cable connection? I ask because the latest 'Superhub' firmware is corrupting large downloads for some people.
