Ios4 upgrade problem
My ipod was working perfectly until I tried to update to ios4. during the "restore" process, it just stopped restoring. when I disconnect it, it asks me to connect to itunes and attempt to restore again. When i do that, it stops in the middle of restore like before.
What you need to do is make a new user's account in windows that has administration rights. Then go to control panel and delete everything that is published by apple...starting w/ itunes, then quicktime, apple software update, apple mobile device, bonjour, and finally apple app support(in that order). then download itunes 9.2 and install it with firewall and anti virus off. after this you shld be able to sync

I just upgraded my iPhone 3gs to the new IOS4. While trying to install it to my phone i got error 29, i then had to restore my phone and lost all of my information. Once i finally installed IOS4 my phone has been shutting off every 5 minutes or so even when its on standby. It doesn't seem to be holding a charge very well and now it has completely shut off and i cant get it to turn back on.
How can i fix this problem??? Has anyone else has this problem??I have the same problem with my updated iphone no longer working on the Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD. It worked wonderfully with the pre OS4, and it would even charge the phone while playing music or not. Now, my disappointment just grows. I will try some of the solutions posted here and in the other threads that say "OS4 and Stereo Problems" and hope it works, otherwise, i will go back to the previous OS.
The first solution attempt will come in the form of a "Hard Reset" of the iPhone and hope that solves the issue. -
Post-iOS4 upgrade problem: rebooting
For the most part, I've had no problems at all with my iPhone since the update. I've done all the things I usually did with it before the update and no problems, except this one.
It reboots sporadically (4-5 times since I upgraded), under pretty specific conditions, which it didn't do before.
Each time it rebooted, it was plugged into the wall socket. It was fully charged (this has only happened, so far, in the morning, though this may only be an coincidence of timing). I was listening to playlist music in the background and doing something else (such as surfing the internet or playing a game). Everything is fine, no problems to speak of, and then the screen goes black and then the Apple logo appears. After about 20 seconds it starts up again.
Anybody else having this problem?Hello up dated to os4 now phone will reboot by it's self happend today4-5 times was doing this with old soft ware to I have to believe it is hardware issue does it in my pocket does while on phone while recording vid playing grand theft auto does it out Side has done it in side in the ac. Has done it batt half full and full charge has not done it plugged in yet I'm sure it will I have had like a blue screen of death only apples is black and says panic I'm stuck lol or some thing I have had apple that shows up during start up turn green lol not kidding last time that happened it was pink

IPod Touch 3rd Gen: Battery Draining very rapidly after iOS4 upgrade.
Hello All,
Sorry for the long post:
I was wondering if others are experiencing this issue as well? I have a 3rd gen ipod touch 64gb.
Prior to the iOS4 upgrade my battery life was very decent. I would easily go a couple(2) days before requiring a full charge on the device even with modest internet, game and music use. As a rule I keep my back light as low as I can stand to conserve battery unless I'm in direct sunlight and have no choice but to bump it up in order to see.
After the iOS4 upgrade my battery life has been drasticly reduced. Going even 24 hours without plugging the device in is totally out of the question and in many cases I find myself having to plug the device into my laptop or car pretty much any chance I get in order to have uninterupted use of the device while I'm out and about. Although I've never timed my actual use, my usage habbits have not changed as far as I'm concerned.
I went so far as to exchanging the device at my local bestbuy as I purchased the blacktie protection plan which grants me an exchange of the device for "any" reason; be it manufaturer defect, accidental breakage, or anything really short of losing it. The replacement was a brand new non refurb ipod which I synced and charged fully upon bringing it home. To my suprise, the battery life is just as bad as the ipod I just turned in. I have yet to downgrade to iOS3 but am considering it if only to see if I suddenly see a great improvement of the battery life.
If anyone is having the issue or has some suggestions other then downgrading please comment. If this is an "unknown" bug/issue/flaw in iOS4 I'm sure apple would like to know about it and I'm assuming they monitor these forums for reports of these issues.
Thanks!

IPhone 3G iOS4 major problems :(
Well, this is my first post on the forum, which i am quite new, but after reading the same issues with the iPhone 3g OS4 update that i have i thought it's time to speak my mind on here, rather than making severe complaints over the home landline to the Apple Support team, with the same old question they ask 'have you tried restoring your phone?' with my answer being 'YES, about 5 times daily!' LOL
Now i have been a keen Apple user for the last 4 years, being a professional photographer using my Macbook Pro and iMac are quite the tools i need, with no problems ever (touch of wood), until... my iPhone decided to die after 1 year of purchase when the IOS4 came out. Yes... my phone is the slowest thing i own sad to say! It is extremely painful to navigate around. Put it this way... my phone took about 6 minutes to just open 1 text message i received, in which i went to make a cup of coffee and to my surprise when i came back, it was still trying to open the message! The iOS4 software has killed MY 3G, and getting it back to a previous version is quite the mission too. What makes things even worse is when i back up and sync my 3G, iTunes decides to tell me that a file is missing on my iPhone to complete the sync! I ask why? What is going on?
So, each and every time my phone becomes slow and sluggish, a system restore and several resets have been made. When i do this, half of the contacts that are on my iPhone are viewable, and half are not! Emails pop up... from months back that i have deleted, and i am talking thousands of them! When scrolling through my apps, or even just to get to the messages or Facebook, my apps vanish, and YouTube is stuck down the left side of my phone only showing half an app button! The list goes on and on, and for a while this is something i have had to put up with. I make back ups all the time, just to be safe, but it is quite the boredom to put back together when i have made a restore. I think what i am trying to say is my iPhone is useless, sad to say really Oh... did i mention my iPhone likes to turn off at random moments, not just in a call... but when on charge plugged into the mains?
Is this a way for Apple to make their 3G and possibly the 3Gs customers upgrade to the 4?
Are Apple actually looking into these problems? Makes me wonder...
If anyone has a solution that does not involve jailbreaking or holding a hammer over the 3G ready for some destruction, please by all means, help all of us 3G users out.For me, performance issues with 4.0.1 on my 3G appeared to be related to Spotlight Search. I found a fix here that worked for me:
http://www.davekawalec.com/2010/07/3-steps-to-fix-iphone-3g-slowness-after-ios4- upgrade/
"1. Turn off Spotlight Search: Go to Settings | General | Home Button | Spotlight Search, and uncheck everything
2. Reboot your iPhone 3G: Just a normal power down and restart
3. Turn Spotlight Search back on: Go back to same screen as step 1, and re-check everything you unchecked in Step 1" -
Maybe a different take, but the iOS4 upgrade seemed to go quite smoothly...
until it tried to restore all my data.
I now got an -69 error message.
Have no contacts or notes nor have any music sync'd
I've managed to get the phone working, but without any phonebook and when i try and manually add music, iTunes tells me that the source files are unavailable however i can play them from the main lib.Unplugged my phone and then reconnected.
iTunes now tells me that there was a problem with a previous restore and would i like to try again.
fingers crossed -
DSL and 9.1 to 9.2 upgrade problems? Please Help!!
I have a Beige g3 - 300 w/ 160 megs of memory - using Netscape 7.02 and occasionally Gatesmess IE-5. I have had dial up for 5 years and recently upgraded to DSL w/ Linksys WRT54G router connected via ethernet cable. Wifes HP laptop uses the wireless.
Problem is when connected to the internet, I get a looong -(30 - 40 second) delay between selecting the url and the page loading with a "resolving host" message at the bottom of the page. The modem send light flashes every five seconds or so and once the system locks on the url it loads really fast. With the dialup there was no delay in finding the url but took a long time to load. Result is it takes about the same amount of time to browse now as before. I don't think the winbox is having the same problem.
To try to resolve the "resolving host" issue I have been trying to upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2. When I download the package from apple.com at the end I get a 127 error which reestablishes itself everytime I click OK til I force quit the System. When I restart the computer, the file is on desktop OS 9.2 update.smi. First I opened the file w/ stuffit 5.2 and tried to install it following the instructions (sharing off, OS 9 extensions only etc) and about 4 minutes into the process I get the Bomb error 10. I have downloaded this three times and upgraded the Stuffit to 7.03 but am having the same problem. In order to get to 9.2.2 you have to upgrade to 9.2.1 first and that is what I am doing.
Anybody have any ideas either on the "resolving host" issue or the upgrade problem.
Thanks in advance,
Beige g3 - 300mghz 160 meg memory Mac OS 9.1.xThanks Grant.
I read the article and it was of some help. Reference TCP/IP control panel settings. I called Commspeed support and they gave me their three current DNS numbers. I typed them per article and nothing - dead. Called them back and they gave me the typical winbox answers "No hable apple" so left to my own devices and considering the stratigies suggested in the article I did two things.
I opened the TCP/IP control panel and deleted the Name Server Address - As they are supposed to be assigned by the server. There was also a check box that said use 802.3 which was checked. I unchecked it and tried the internet. Blam it was right there. I don't know which stratigy worked as I did them simultaneously.
Still don't know about upgrading to 9.2.
Thanks again,
Bill

10.9.4 upgrade problems
10.9.4 upgrade problems, first with file system, second with Time Machine.
...first, time machine stopped working, second, I believe that an alias of a folder I had in my left margin of the finder window disappeared, along with the original folder, and all its contents. Both of these are serious problems. Can anybody help?So here's the one pertaining to the time machine backups to my external LaCie drive:

I've bought LR5 as an upgrade disk from Amazon. Previously I had LR3 installed on my MAC OSX 10.9.4. Installation from disc was reported ok. After inserting the serial number, the original LR3 serial number is found, but if I hit continue LR5 disappears without any further message. Next time I start LR5, it starts again with asking for the serial number ...
Thanks,
download of latest LR 5.5 worked!

Graphic Upgrade Problem with K430 desktop - Unresolved!
Hi,
Xmas 2012 I purchased a Lenovo IdeaCentre K430 Desktop from PC world.
PC World said it would be upgradable if I need to upgrade it.
The system is:
Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
16.0 GB DDR3
1.8 TB Hardrive
Windows 8
Geforce GT 640
I recently purchased Crysis 3 and its not running very well, so I brought a Geforce GTX 660.
However when I installed and rebooted the PC, I was greated with a blank flashing screen?
other people have simular problems on the GeForce forums.
I have since took the card back PLUS 3 MORE for a refund, and very dissapointed that I can't upgrade this PC.
CAN SOMEONE AT LENOVO PLEASE REPLY WITH A LIST OF 'MODERN/LATEST GRAPHIC CARDS, THAT ARE COMPATIBLE WITH THIS MODEL STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX?
CHANGING THE BIOS SETTINGS DOES NOT WORK FOR ME!
It's been almost 2 years and I've still not found a compatible card, so much for the Ultimate Upgradable PC!
Cheers. The previous message thread you posted in has one recommendation of what worked in the K430. See the post #34 in this discussion.......

It seems that the data restored to my iPhone 3G after the iOS4 upgrade was old/incomplete. Though it ran a backup during the upgrade process, I noticed SMS history for the past 12 hours had been lost. I can't confirm other data recovery issues - SMS was the most obvious and all of my email and contacts exist on other servers that were retrieved after upgrade.
I've also lost all SMS data as part of the upgrade - have tried restore from backup in iTunes and no change. Very very unhappy currently and looking for a solution!

IOs4 upgrade, 3gs no longer charges on Altec radio / iPod player
Ever since my iOs4 upgrade, my 3gs no longer charges on my Altec radio / iPod player.
Any ideas?
TIANo suggestions. Sorry. But to share the pain. 4 must be the Vista of Apple. Since upgrading my 3gs gets physically very warm, which never happened before. I can't leave the phone charging connected to my notebook via a USB cable, which I could always do before: the phone actually drains. The multitasking feature is lousy: every app I run stays on, I can't control what is running unless I physically turn off the app, which is a design defect. How do I return the phone to the old OS unless and until Apple gets its act together?
