IOs4 upgrade software - Error 29 - phone crashes

HELP!!! Has anyone managed to solve this problem. Apple offered to look at mine under the remaining warranty. Sent it back saying it had water damage. My phone worked perfectly well until I downloaded this software.

Exactly the same mate. I am so angry - I went from a nicely functioning iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.3 to a broken device. I've spent hours trying to fix it. If you google the problem, people all over the world are having the same issues.
Somebody, somewhere (in Apple) pick up this problem and run with it. Please.

  • C3-01 Software Updates and Phone crashing

I received my new C3-01 a couple of weeks ago. I registered with My Nokia and discovered that a software update is available (05.65/05.68). My phone is loaded with v5.60. I cannot download this update via the phone - I get the message 'no software update available' when I try. I obtained the phone via Virgin Media and have a pay-as-you-go contract. How do I access the software update?
An annoying problem is that the phone has a tendency to 'crash' when I try to personalise some, but not all, the tool bars e.g.:Go To>personalise view>press communities> phone crashes!! Black screen >plain white screen until full recovery. This happens, sometimes randomly, on other buttons. Has anyone else had this problem?? Would the new software update fix it??
Apart from these niggles I'm pleased with the phone.

Hi, check if the update is available through Ovi suite or Nokia software updater as not everyone gets their updates via OTA.
If you can not get the update via neither of those two computer programs, it might be that Virgin Media hasn't approved the update for your device.
However, check your product code here: http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update
You will also be able to install Nokia software updater from that page.

  • Tried to upgrade the software and my phone crashed...restore does not work

What do I do?! I tried to upgrade and it stopped at the verifing software...it went to the screen with the USB plug and the Itunes icon. When I try to restore it stops at the same point on the preparing to restore and goes to verifing software. What do I DO! (Iphone)

Without more information all I can suggest is:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Upgrading software errors

    Hi....
Due to a hectic lifestyle and the crashing of my personal laptop I', supr behind on upgrading my phones software to 5.0+......  I use the desktop at the house to backup everything until my laptop is back up and running.  This is a computer that is authorized for my iphone/itunes.  Everytime I try to sync my phone and upgrade the software I get error messages and the process is stopped.
    What can i do?

We can't help much if you don't tell us what the error messages say, EXACTLY.

Okay so my phone crashes approximately every 30 seconds. I have tried resetting it by DPU as well as on the phone itself.  Once in awhile i get an error message about unknown error 1.  If i look at the diagnosis or if runs on itunes i get the following.  When I called the support at AT&T they think the phone is shot and it is a hardware thing but i have a hard time believing that when it happened when I sync'd it to my computer.  It did get progressively worse though, at first it crashed not that often and then got worse.  So restores are failing, recovery, everything.  Anyone run into this?

  • IOS4 Upgrade Error -69

Maybe a different take, but the iOS4 upgrade seemed to go quite smoothly...
until it tried to restore all my data.
I now got an -69 error message.
Have no contacts or notes nor have any music sync'd
I've managed to get the phone working, but without any phonebook and when i try and manually add music, iTunes tells me that the source files are unavailable however i can play them from the main lib.

Unplugged my phone and then reconnected.
iTunes now tells me that there was a problem with a previous restore and would i like to try again.
    fingers crossed

  • Upgrade software to 6.1.1, but cannot activating the phone again

upgrade software to 6.1.1, but cannot activating the phone again
Bought my 4s in Canada, been used for two years, then updated to 6.1.1 then cannot activating the phone from wifi or iTunes,
I store in south Africa says that my 4s been locked by Canada, need to unlock it 1st,
    Any suggestion

You've got a problem with no easy solution. It appears your phone was hacked to unlock it so you could use it where you live. Updating software on a hacked iPhone will re-lock the phone to the carrier it was originally locked to...that's what happened to you.
Only the carrier the phone is locked to can authorize the phone's official unlocking...in your case, a carrier in Canada. However, none of the carriers in Canada will authorize the unlocking of your phone unless you are a current/former customer who used the phone on their network.
Thus, there doesn't appear to be any way for you to get this phone officially unlocked, unless you want to fly to Canada & first establish service.

i have an iphone 4 with 4.3.2 version, i want to upgrade the software. but my phone is not getting synchronised on itunes and not getting detected. also there is no update software tab under settings.please help me

If your phone isn't being recognized by your computer, you need to follow the steps in this article to resolve that
Also, some basic isolation needs to be done. Does it show up in itunes on any other computers? do you have other cords you can test with to see if it might be the cord? if the phone doesn't show up on any computers, it's likely your phone has a hardware issue

  • Can't update phone + Desktop Software error

So just recently my phone's been acting really strange. The battery of the phone used to last me 2 days but now it only lasts 5 hours. Also the back of the phone (below the battery to be precise) has started to become hot to the touch. (I have replaced the battery and it still has the same problem.) Today, I went to the 'Orange' store to see if they had any solutions. They told me to download the blackberry desktop software and try to update the package software of my phone.
So I got the software, backed up my phone, then I tried to update my phone.
This is where it gets weird. I was notified to update from '6.0 bundle 695' (I've never updated it since I bought the phone.) to '6.0 bundle 2949'. So, as prompted, I clicked update. Before it updates, I get told that "An updated BlackBerry desktop software component must be installed before you can continue."
So I click to install, but in about 1 tenth of a second, I get "There was an error updating your software, please try again." The window then closes, leaving me unable to update my software.
No matter how many times I retry, I get the exact same error.
If anybody has any ideas or possible solutions on how to update the phone, stop the bad battery life and stop the unusual amount of heat being emitted, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the most recent BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    5) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC. If, during the process, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
    Don't forget to backup.
Good luck and let us know!
