IOS4 with MS Exchange 2003 issue

Hi all,
Yesterday I've updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS4. After the upgrade, I'm unable to use my email and agenda.
With the iOS3, I received my messages, but after the upgrade it won't sync any more.
I noticed that my "deleted items" and "send items" do sync, but when I try to update my "Inbox" a message appears telling me that the server is unavailable.
The same with my agenda. I've waited more then 24 hours, and a couple of items do appear, but the rest won't.
I've already deleted my account (several times) with the same result. I've also rebooted my exchange server, but no luck either.
My colleges didn't update their phone and they still have mailflow.
Does anybody know a solution?
Many thanks in advance,
Frits

More Details:
We have a very large mobile population in my company with thousands of apple iPhones and a growing population of iPads. We support a virtual desktop and mobile application suite.
Starting Monday, our users began upgrading to iOS4 and on Wednesday and Thursday; many more started receiving iPhone 4.
Beginning Tuesday, our helpdesk began taking increasing numbers of calls reporting intermittent loss of mail and calendar synchronization with our Microsoft Exchange services.
By Friday, almost all activsync services are down affecting all our devices with iOS3 including the entire iPad population.
There are some threads over on the apple forums suggesting a DNS change from "CNAME" to "A" type record for activesync (generically referred to in the threads as Exchange). However this has not turned out to be a solution to the issue.
At this point, we have suspended adoption and are actively working to find a way back.
Will keep this forum posted...

For the best Mac compatibility with Exchange, I suggest you use Microsoft Entourage, part of Microsoft Office.

  • Exchange 2010 MBX with a Exchange 2003 Frontend server. Coexist?

We currently have a exchange 2003 environment with 5 mailbox server and 1 front end server. We would like to introduce a 2010 Exchange MBX server. Is that possible? Do we just install the MBX role with CAS/HT?
    Thnaks,

    Hi
You need to have MBX,CAS and HUB all the three in Exchange 2010 else they wont be functioning without any one of them.
You can introduce Exchange 2010 server in Exchange 2003 server environment
Ensure you have at-least Exchange server 2003 SP2 else the it wont allow you to install Exchange 2010
You can only deploy Exchange 2010 in an Exchange 2003 organization that operates in native mode

  • IPhone conflict with MS Exchange 2003 set up for Blackberries?

My business uses MS Exchange 2003 and it is set up to push e-mail for Blackberries. Some of the employees have gotten iPhones, one with the new 3Gs. They tell me that it is easy to link their phones to the server for email and calenders. My tech people say, no:
    1. No VPN access from Iphone to network
    2. Might be able to get the phone to sync, but only when connected to a PC that is connected to the network, using activesync software.
    3. There is no way to get mail to the phone when offsite. (unless we send all corporate mail to an outside provider)
    4. Solutions to support MAC gear will require another box (server/pc) that is configured as a gateway… testing and config… not quite sure how long it would take, or what licensing/requirements.
    Who is right?

There is a way and it's very nice, took me a few days to get it right. with my method you will be able to u use your webmail just like it's active sync.. I'm not a good explainer but I'll give it a shot!
Go to your web mail service on a pc and log in, in your browser it says something like webmail.(companyname).com...ok now that u got that , on your iPhone make a new exchange account with the following info ^ > put the above webmail.com under the server field , now the rest of the fields have to be exactly right for this to work under email: your company email address, domain: blank , then for user name and password enter just like u would if u were signing in on safari... Boom it's that easy!

  • Migrate from Standard 2003 domain with seperate Exchange 2003 to SBS 2011 - possible? how-to?

    Hi there,
I am currently planning on replacing two servers (one server 2003 standard (DC) and one server 2003 standard with exchange 2003) with a single machine running SBS 2011.
I already did several migrations SBS 2003 to SBS 2011, SBS 2008 to SBS 2011 - and I am wondering if the same can be done from 2003 Standard with separate exchange server 2003 to a single SBS 2011. Technically I can see no reason why this shouldn't work -
but so far I have been unsuccessful in finding guidelines or at least some success-stories from other users.
Did anyone do something like that? Any caveats I have to be aware of? Or is it supposed to be flawless as the SBS to SBS migrations I did so far?

    Hi,
From the problem description, I understand that you would like to migrate Exchange server 2003 on Windows Server 2003 to SBS 2011.
At first, I would like to clarify one thing. Microsoft doesn’t have the official documentation towards this scenario. And Microsoft doesn’t
    recommend dealing with that.
I noticed that there are two servers in your organization. One is Windows server 2003 for DC; the other one is Exchange server 2003. So it can’t
be the same as the documentation (Migrate to Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard from Windows Small Business Server
    2003).
I got your key point that you would like to know the detailed procedures (HOW TO). I suggest that you could visit the
SBSmigration.com to get further information you need. Since it’s not the Microsoft official method,
please do the test before your put it into your production environment.

  • How to synchronize iPod touch with Microsoft Exchange 2003?

I just bought the iPod touch and would like to synchronize it with my calendar and contacts. I use Outlook 2003 SP3 on PC and it is connect to an exchange-server. I have the latest version of iTunes (v7.4.3.1). When I connect my iPod (v1.1.1) to my computer, I have no problem with synchronizing music, video, pictures or Podcasts. When I look under Devices and Info-tap, I cannot select any contacts, calendar or bookmarks. Under calendar, it says: There is no supported calendar program. I have tried to read all posted threads, but non-helpful. How do I fix this, please help?

Yeah, unfortunately, Apple didn't get compatibility for Exchange 2003 working for OSX (it does for iPhone, but not desktop OSX.)
Me personally I'm on Exchange 2007, but I also use [Google Calendar Sync|http://www.google.com/sync/index.html] to sync Outlook. My Macs and iPad go directly to Google Calendar and the PC use Google Calendar Sync to sync Outlook to Google Calendar. Google Sync only works for Outlook calendar and must be Outlook 2003 or later. (I've used Outlook 2007 and currently Outlook 2010.) Google Calendar is free so this may be an acceptable way to sync, assuming your work PC has internet access and can be left on for the sync app to run.

  • Running Unity with both Exchange 2003 and 2010?

My company is planning to upgrade from Exchange 2003 to 2010.  We are
currently using Unity 7.0.  We'd like to run the two in parrallel for a bit and take our time switching users over.
Now I've read that Unity can support Exchange 2010, but I haven't found anything about running Unity using both Exchange 2003 and 2010 in parrallel.
Is this something Unity can handle?

We're doing something similar, but we have an in-place Unity 7 and Exchange 2003 environment; we are putting some users from an org we support on an Exchange 2010 server, but do not want that to be the partner server (yet).  The instructions seem to point you to making 2010 the partner; I'm wondering why Step 13 (of your link) we are uninstalling the Exchange Server 2003 System Management Tools, if it’s a mixed environment and 2003 will still be the partner server.  I also saw somewhere that you don’t have to move the unitymsgstoresvc account to Exchange 2010 if you are in a mixed environment.  Is that true?  Thank you.

  • Sync Mac Entourage with Windows Exchange 2003

I have to maintain both my mac for personal use and my PC for my job. The calendar on my PC is where most of my meetings are entered and log from business collegues. However I would like to merge my business calendar in Exchange with my personal calendar on my mac via Entourage.
Can this be done? I am not interested in placing my personal calendar in my business calendar. I actually only want it to go one way, business to personal.
Any hope for me in this bi-computer world that I live in?

Just setup an Exchange account in Entourage and move your appointments from one calendar to another.
For specific instructions, search Entourage's built in Help files or post your questiion on Microsoft's own Office:Mac disucssions:

  • Exchange 2003 ActiveSync issue with iPhones

    Hello,
I am having an issue with an Exchange 2003 server, where a couple of iPhones can suddenly no longer Activesync with it.  It seems to be an issue with their specific accounts.  I set up an account for myself and was able to connect
and sync with no issue from my Windows 8 phone and also the Remote Connectivity Analyzer.
However, with the iPhone user I tried to run his account through the Analyzer and got a timeout error when it was testing to sync the inbox.  I also tried setting up the user's account on my Windows phone and the inbox just showed "syncing,
this could take a while" and just kept doing that.
The mailbox in question is pretty large, the System Manager shows it at 41GB and I think that may be the issue.  However, initally the user told me that the phone worked fine until about a month ago.  When I first started troubleshooting
the issue, I found that the self signed certificate had expired around the time the phone stopped syncing and generated a new one.  But I think the user had tried to wipe the account and re-set it up normally but that wiped any mail that was on the phone
and now it is trying to resync a large amount of data and that is causing the timeouts.
I have also been reading that Microsoft Security Essentials can cause these types of issues and it is installed on the server, but would it cause these issues with only certain accounts or with iPhones but not Windows phones?
Am I on the right track with this?  Thanks.

The event viewer shows no ActiveSync errors for the user.  I tried to connect to the account from my Windows phone and it set up ok with no errors (the user tells me that the account setup on the phone went ok too, all green checks) but when it was
doing the initial sync, it just seemed to hang with a message saying something like "syncing, this could take a while" or something to that effect.
The Remote Connectivity analyzer came back with a timeout error for the Inbox sync step as well.

  • Need to sync only address book with exchange 2003 - Snow Leopard

    Hey everybody!
M very new to troubleshooting MAC. M a network engineer and have an employee who recently got a new MAC with snow leopard OS.
The problem is he would like ONLY his address book to sync with our Exchange 2003 to he could pull out the contacts from LDAP.
Have spent few hours and found out about DavMail from this forum.
But is there any other way to do this which I've not come across, basically a MAC or Microsoft way or application?

icloud can be turned on or off or the whole account can be deleted. You manage that all in iOS5 , under "Settings" -> "icloud".
Wifi Sync must be turned on both in iOS and on Itunes 10.5* on the Mac' settings :
in iOS : "settings" -"general"-"itunes wlan sync"
    * In Lion and itunes 10.5 there is the option, don't know about Snow.

  • Business Package for Communication with NW04 and Exchange 2003?

Hi, we are evaluating opportunities to realize a groupware integration in the SAP Portal EP60SP2. A upgrade to Netweaver is planned, so the possible solution should work with Netweaver too. Our Exchange version is 2003.
I'm thinking about the standard SAP Groupware-Integration in combination with the Business Package for Communication.
<b>Has anyone expirences with the Business Package for communication, Netweaver and Exchange 2003, yet?</b>
I know, it's not officially supported, but maybe it works.
With the OWA-iViews we've got problems to implement our Styleguide and to devide into different iViews. The informations shown in the iViews of the Business Package are adequate and we would save ActiveX.
<b>Is there another solution that works?</b>
<b>Are there other iViews from 3rd party developers, that show Outlook informations?</b> Has anyone realized something like this in a project yet?
I would be grateful for any ideas.
    Sandra

    Hi Sandra,
Please note that the Business Package for Communication was only available for SAP EP 5.0. Newer releases of SAP EP contain the groupware (GW) functionalities and some GW iViews automatically as soon as KM is installed with the EP. The integration with MS Exchange 2003 should work. If you look for iViews such as Send EMail, Create Appointment, Show availability and Room Calendar, you can use the iViews shipped by SAP. If however you need the EMail inbox or the personal calendar and tasks, then the native OWA iViews are the way to go. For further details please refer to the SAP NetWeaver admin guide http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/0c/30d624a0fae949902f7a4b2a8f98bd/frameset.htm.
    Hope that helps

  • Send E-Mails with large attachmenst with exchange 2003 Mailbox

    Hi!
    I have the following setting:
Exchange 2003 for one Domain an two mailboxes with two different iPhones. One Mailbox/iPhone can send Mails with large attachments (500kB-5000kB) without any problems.
The other mailbox has the problem, that i can only send with attachments sized about 50 kB. Larger Attachments are blocked by the phone and this mail stays in the Out queue.
Has anybody a hint for me, where i can change this? I think it must be a user paramter, because one mailbox can send those large attachmenst. The Server it self must be ok - i think.
    Server: Windows 2003 with SP2; Exchange 2003 SP2
    Kind Regards
    Martin

I agree with you - i think it must be a problem with the mailbox on the server side. But i don't know what to change there?
I also configed on one iPhone those two mailboxes. One box can send large attachments - the other not.
