Ios5 and icloud

Is it possible to remove ios5 and icloud from ipad 2 I am having trouble connecting to itunes and down loading apps

I had the same problem and many contacts amongst my 330 differant people were duplicated up to 3 times. What seemed to have happened is any one who was in your main addrees book and also in a list would be duplicated when icloud syncs.
I solved it by switching off icloud on the phone. deleting all entries in my mac address book. Checking the address book was totally empty. Then manualy deleting all the duplicates on the phone. Once I was happy everything on the phone was correct I Then turning cloud back on the phone. thats synched back all entries to the mac and no problem since.
Now when i amend/delet/add a contact it syncs acros  both devices within minutes.

  • I just setup mine and my wife's iphone 4 on new ios5 and icloud settings.  Our phones are both on my account.  Her phone is receiving my contacts, calendars, etc. due to this.  Is there a way I can separate her phone from my account in itunes and icloud?

I just set up mine and my wife's iphone 4 on new ios5 and icloud settings.  I have both phones on one account and actually she purchases apps/music with my sign in and password on her phone.
Now that we are set up on icloud settings, her phone is receiving my calendars, contacts, etc.  she does not want and does not need any of these items on her phone.  How can I separate the two now?  is there a way to have a different login and password for her phone so that it sets up on its own icloud settings?
    Thanks

She should create her own Apple ID and start using it for everything, including purchasing.
    It starts on the computer in iTunes. There are 2 elements we are dealing with;
purchasing items from iTunes (apps, music) and playing items in iTunes.
Only one Apple ID can be signed in at a time for purchasing. But you can "authorize" multiple Apple IDs for playing. As long as iTunes is "authorized" with both your Apple IDs, items purchased with these different accounts can coexhist in one iTunes Library.
Why this is important, it has to do with back up and being able to transfer purchased items to the computer.
Once your wife sets up her own account, she will want to connect the iPhone to the computer to back it up and transfer any new purchases, iTunes will need to be authorized for that to happen.
With that said, a new feature of iColud is back up. It will back up everything to the cloud. You need to turn it on, it's at the bottom of the iCloud settings on the iPhone. It is limited to 5GB for free, you can buy more. I used all 5GB my first back up, but I have a lot of crap, and there's a lot of things on the iPhone that get backed up that don't count against the 5GB, so it might be plenty of space for you.
When it comes to the iCloud and contacts/calendars, again your wife needs her own account. (ASAP)  Does she have a computer in her life that has a list of her contacts and calendars. I hope so, because it sounds like her contacts on her iPhone are now mixed with yours. Or I hope there is still an untouched list of contacts on the iPhone that iCloud didn't mix.  Either way Delete your iCloud account from her iPhone. Remove the data, as long as it isn't hers. This will delete all info being synced to the cloud. If she still has a list of her old contacts on the iPhone, great. If not, I hope she has them somewhere else, like her own computer.
Create her an iCloud account. Enter the account info where ever there is a list of contacts/calendars and get the info onto the cloud, then add the iCloud settings to any other devices.
Any new apps/music purchased with her account will back up to the cloud. I don't think apps purchased with your account will. She will also need to enter your password for updating these apps, because they were purchased with your account.
I hope this helped and didn't make thing more confusing.  Good luck!

  • Migration guidelines to goto Lion, iOS5 and iCloud

    hello
    I'm using a MacBook Pro ( running OSX 10.6.8 ) an iPhone4 ( iOS 4.3.5 ) and an iPad2 ( iOS 4.3.5 )
all three sync email ( mutilple pop accounts ), calendar and contacts using MobileMe - all works fine
now I would like to goto Lion, iOS5 and iCloud
    are there any migration guidelines
    - should I update the OS's and will iCould take over the email settings from MobileMe ?
    - should I start with migrating MobileMe to iCloud ?
is there any up-to-date documentation ?
    thx in advance
    Henny

You can purchase and download Lion from the App Store. You can upgrade your iDevices by first downloading and installing the iTunes 10.5 upgrade. As for transitioning from MobileMe to iCloud see:
Frequently asked questions about the MobileMe transition and iCloud
Creating an iCloud account- Frequently Asked Questions
    MobileMe- About moving to iCloud.webloc
    To upgrade to Lion:
How to Install Lion Successfully - You must have Snow Leopard 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 Installed
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.3.) if DW cannot fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall Snow Leopard.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the backup volume. Source means the internal startup volume.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. To upgrade to Lion:
Purchase the Lion Installer from the Mac App Store. The download will start quickly. Lion is nearly 4 GBs so a fast internet connection is essential. Download time could run upwards of 4 hours depending upon network conditions and server demands at the time.
Boot From The Lion Installer which is located in your Applications folder.
    Follow instructions for installation.

  • Just installed iOS5 and iCloud on iPod Touch, and in Settings, I can't get the on/off switch to stay on for Automatic Downloads.

I just installed iOS5 and iCloud on 4th gen iPod Touch. All is well EXCEPT that I can't get the on/off switch in "Settings" to stay on for automatic downloads of music and apps. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I missing some previous set-up step?
    Thanks for your help.

to enable icloud you tap "settings" -> "icloud". Make sure you sign in with a valid iCloud Apple-ID. Then you can turn on the various features that are part of iCloud.
Video or Music Syncing is not a feature of it.  Instead you use itunes in the cloud which let's you re-download purchases. This however depends if the service is available in your country.
Worldwide only purchased books and apps are supported for free-of-charge-redownload on your devices.

  • Downloaded IOS5 and iCloud but pictures taken are not on my iPad or Mac?  What os wrong?

Downloaded IOS5 and iCloud but pictures taken are not on my iPad or Mac?  What is wrong?

I found the reason for this and the solution couldn't be simpler. The issue is compatability. So, search for icloud using Windows search on bottom left and right click on it. Go to properties>compatability>Windows 7>apply>ok. do the same for iCloud photos. Then sign out of icloud and sign back in. Presto! You'll notice it will be a lot quicker to load too. After a year trying to figure it out I stumbled on it....It's worked ever since

  • IOS5 and iCloud have duplicated my contacts and iCal entries.  How to I fix this / only use one of them?, iOS5 and iCloud have duplicated my contacts and iCal entries.  How to I fix this / only use one of them?

Since loading iOS5 and starting to sync with iCloud, I'm getting multiple contacts in my Macbook as well as on my phone. How do I get rid of one or the other? The best soultion would be to fix the error without having to delete all of the duplicates manually.  This also happens with my events and reminders in iCal.

I had the same problem and many contacts amongst my 330 differant people were duplicated up to 3 times. What seemed to have happened is any one who was in your main addrees book and also in a list would be duplicated when icloud syncs.

  • Is there a workaround so for Leopard and iCloud yet?

I have an iMac PowerPC on Leopard at work and a MobileMe account which syncs my iPhone4 (iOS4), iPad1 (iOS4), my work iMac (Leopard) and my home Mac Pro (Snow Leopard). Syncing works perfectly. I love it.
I've been holding off on updating my MacPro to Lion and my devices to iOS5 and iCloud because I REALLY don't want to lose the ability to use Leopard Addressbook and iCal at work.
I just hate the thought of my iMac Addressbook and iCal databases not being sync'able anymore rending them useless, certainly more and more as I add to my calendars and contacts on my other 3 devices with my iMac out f the loop since you can't go farther than Leopard on a PowerPC.
If there is no way to keep my iMac in the synch "loop" after upgrading to iCloud, I guess I'll be forced to use my iPad or iPhone Contacts and Calendar at work and have them sync to iCloud so at least my iPhone, iPad and MacPro will be in sync.
What a shame. I know I'm not alone. I can't get work to buy me a new Mac (especially since everyone else is on PCs) just so I can use my computer's Addressbook and iCal applications. Otherwise it's still a viable computer.
I'm hoping there's some 3rd party programmer out there working on solving this issue. There are just too many Leopard computers out there with lots of life in them to become obsolete because of iCloud. What a strange way to kill a computer product and OS line.

The problem with the post above is that events created in ical don't sync to icloud, ical can only retrieve it from the cloud,so I tried something to solve that.
Just figured out how to get an icloud-account in ical for Leopard 10.5.8
    you'll find the info in:
~/library/calendars/[the calendar that ends with] .caldav/info.plist
    Open the info.plist with textedit
somewhere down the page you'll find <key>PrincipalURL</key>
    underneath this:
    <string>https://p02-caldav.icloud.com:/XXXXXXXXX/calendars/YYYYYYYY-YYYY-YYYY-YYYY-Y/</string>
    X.....being your unique ID
    Y.....being the calender ID
    In ical:
    -Click create account
-description = whatever name you like
    -user name= apple id
    -password=apple id
    -server options= https://p02-caldav.icloud.com/[your unique ID]/principal/
    This creates the icloud account.
    Than:
-export a calendar to the desktop
-drag the calendar on the icloud account
    there's your icloud calendar!
click 'get info' from that calendar and you will see the url that should connect to icloud but......it doesn't!
Can anyone help me with that please?
I tried a thousand different url's but I can't get ical to connect with icloud.

  • Events added on my iPhone are not syncing with iCal.  ios5 and Lion

I always have my iPhone handy and use it all the time to add my events.  I think it is easier to add them on the phone and easier to view on my MacBook Pro.  Anyway......... all the events I am adding on my iPhone stopped syncing to my iCal as soon as I installed ios5.  Is there a fix yet?  It is VERY annoying!!!

i figured it out.... before syncing your phone to your macbook or whatever:
    -go into settings
    -select icloud
    -go to calendars
-change the selector from ON to OFF
    -sync phone to computer
-ical syncing with phone will now work like it did before iOS5 and iCloud, but in a good way

  • We have 2 iphone 4s which have just been updated with IOS5 and whilst setting up icloud the phone contacts were merged and now i have lost my phone contacts on first iphone 4 which have been replaced with phone contacts from my second iphone 4. help?

We have two Iphone 4 handsets. I updated first handset with IOS5 and activated Icloud with my existing Itunes account details - no problems. I then did the same on the second handset and instead of setting up a different Icloud account for the second hanset I mistakenly used the same details as on the first handset and merged the contacts thinking it would add all contacts to both handsets but it instead replaced contacts from first handset with those from the second handset.
How do I get back my contacts from the first hanset?
I read somewhere Icloud saves the last 3 backups which suggests all my contacts that have disappeared are somewhere but how do i find them ???
    Help ???

    Here's how to do it.
    1. App Store, iTunes Store should have the same AppleID on Computer and iPhones. (Free to share apps, music and books... )
    2. Person A uses the same purchasing account for everything (ie. email, contacts and ...).
    3. Person B have the same purchase account see no. 1 (for App Store and iTunes Store) but create a second AppleID for iCal, e-mail, contacts  and etc.
