Ios5 no longer allows Live Playlist Syncing

I had this problem in early releases of iOS4 and it was eventually fixed, but now it's back in iOS5. Ipads and iPhones, and I suspect iPods will not sync live updated smart playlists. I tried restoring my iPhone 4, the tried removing and resyncing the music. Nothing changed in either attempt. The only way to get the Correct playlist was to create a dumb playlist and then copy over all of the songs from one playlist to the other . I res-synced and now everything is correct. The music is there and probably always was, but smart playlists will not sync correctly. Cant believe Apple left this out of iOS5. PLEASE FIX IT!!!

What you are doing wrong is presuming Apple did not know about this and many other problems with IOS5 before unleashing it on the public. Just look at how many posts there are about inability to sign on to wireless networks using IOS5. You also presume Apple cares about its user base and is not playing its tried and true scheme of sabotaging old hardware to force upgrades.

I am baffled by the fact that all my syncing functions work except my yahoo account. When i click on the Info tab and check the Sync Contacts Box, nothing shows up in the list of accounts to sync with. HELP i need this to work right away.

The only list of accounts I see is down in the mail accounts section. These only tell iTunes which accounts to copy from the computer to the phone and have nothing to do with Yahoo (unless it is a paid account)
To get a Yahoo account set up on the phone you need to add it from settings > mail > add Ymail!.
On a Mac to sync the address book contacts there is a checkbox at the bottom of the Contacts section that says "Sync Yahoo! Address Book contacts (Configure...)". On a PC you select the drop down under contacts and select Sync Contacts with: (Yahoo Address Book (select from drop down)) (Configure...).
There is no list of accounts. You have to hit your the "Configure..." button and put in your Yahoo account name and password.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and figured out a way around it? Apple says it is not an iPhone problem and Adobe says they don't support the iPhone.

If Adobe does not support the iPhone, how do you expect for a software they make to work with the iPhone?

I don't know why it stopped working but it happened a month or two ago but the option on this phone that's usually all the way to the left when you select your device but now its not and I don't know what caused it. ive already tried troubleshooting my problem but have found no help.

Is the problem that you can create them in iTunes, but they are empty on the iPod itself? If so, I had that problem, and the issue appeared to be that playlists that used MediaType=Podcast didn't seem to transfer. If, on the other hand, I gave all podcasts a Genre of Podcast, it worked better. In general, with the older iPod classic, I found that playlists based on MediaType didn't work that well.

Somehow my itunes started a new library and I lost my old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music to my ipod without deleting stored music from ipod. How can I start using this new library and sync the new music without losing existing music.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

ITunes 7.6 no longer allows sharing a library without copying

Hi,
Until version 7.6 I shared my iTunes library with another account on the same computer by making a soft-link in that other account's Music folder to my Music/iTunes folder and by giving it write permissions.
This no longer works in version 7.6, because iTunes seems to recreate the files "iTunes Library" and "iTunes Music Library.xml" with the permissions "-rw-r--r--@". The files are always owned by the last account that used the library.
Giving write permissions to both accounts (through a group), but no write permissions to the "iTunes" folder, in order to prevent the recreation, doesn't work. iTunes will complain about not having write permissions for the folder.
Why has this changed in such a way?
I see no point in using several times the space of one library and to go through synchronisation work over and over again.

I have believe similar problem, I have 2 macs and 2 ipods. I have always synced each ipod separately to each mac. However, I recently took ipod 2 and synced to mac 1, and I was able to transfer songs/vids from mac 1 to ipod 2 successfully. Problem is, now I try to resync ipod 2 back to mac 2, and itunes does not even recognize the ipod, let alone allow me to sync it! Was sharing the libraries in this form and syncing on multiple machines allowed on earlier itunes versions?

Apps won't sync from iTouch to computer. iTunes recognizes the iTouch and the app content, but the content is grayed out on the computer screen and won't allow me to sync. My iTouch is version 4.2.1 with 6.8GB capacity.

Your iPod can only be synced with one iTunes library at a time. If you try to add content to it from another computer it will erase the contents of your iPod and replacement it with the contents of the new library.
In regards to the unstableness, have you tried a hard reset to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Version 15 no longer allows copy to clipboard

We have been setting signed.applets.codebase_principal_support in FireFox to allow copying to the clipboard in Window XP and Windows 7. It has worked fine until version 15, and it no longer works. If we cannot use this feature, we will have to convert all of our users to IE or some other browser that allows us to do the copy.

So… of what I can tell so far, it is quite true that Firefox no longer allows scripts to access the clipboard, with the exception of making add-ons in the XUL environment. When I first ran into this problem in version 15 on a page I was running locally, the error returned was

Have a similar issue. Have iphone 4 running ios7. itunes 11.1.3.8. Probably is intermittent (once every 2 weeks?) and persistent. Syncs fine for days. Then all at once playlists are not updated. For example; over the holidays I added some holiday songs to a playlist. Today I removed the holiday songs from the playlist in itunes. Sync the phone. All messages indicate sync is successful. Songs still in playlist on the phone! Continues to happen over multiple syncs. In the past I have had some songs update but not all songs. This cycle of attempting syncing continues until other songs on the iphone 'disappear' (they are listed in playlists but don't play!). Don't know the cause but it is very annoying and unpredictable. Eventually taking all music off the iphone and then adding it back works but even this take multiple iterations. These issues seem to have started after upgrading to ios7. I have workarounds that are very timeconsuming. I'm interested in solutions to the root cause. Can anyone help?

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
