IOS5 Question

I got the iOS5 GM this past weekend, so I've had the iOS5 for a few days now, but my question is about some of the features. They haven't been enabled yet, so do you think I'll have to upgrade to the public release of iOS5 to have all the features?? When I plug up my phone it says I have 5.0, so when I click update, it says I have the latest version. Just not sure what I need to do.

I too have had iOS 5 for a week now and am in the same boat. most everything seems to work but I as well am wondering if the GM version will be diff from the public release and since our phones already say 5.0 how do we upgrade if we have to? I already looked at wikipedia and saw the build version on GM and public are the same but I don't know how reliable that is.

I have one of the PowerBook G4s that came out right before the Intel chips, so I'm stuck and can't update to a more recent OS. Which means I can't update iTunes, which means I can't update my iPhone to iOS5. Except that my parents have a recent Mac and recent iTunes. I keep all my iTunes data on an external HD. So...
Can I update to iOS5 from another computer (bringing my external HD of course) and then use iCloud in the future to update and sync? The features list notes that you can use iOS5 "PC-free" and back up and restore all without the computer. This would work? Downsides? Obviously I couldn't put iCloud on the computer and keep a back up, other than regularly visiting another computer that has something newer than my pitiful 10.4.11.

I was having the syncing problem (iPhone worked, but iPad didn't). I found that under settings under the APPS section in the left hand column that pages has a place where you can turn the use of iCloud on there. I had it turned on iin every other location and wondered why it wasn't working. Once I did that everything seemed to gel. Good luck

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

IOS5 airplay pictures question

Hi, I have iOS5 on my verizon iphone4. I can play music through my computer via bluetooth with my iphone. Is there a way I can view pictures on my iphone on my computer using airplay over bluetooth or wireless? My computer is windows7.

I also had a lot of problems after ios 5. Go back andcheck your settings in itunes. Make sure you have the movies and photos added to the library and have them selected to sync. Then resync and you shoulb be ok.

IOS5 and iPad question

I just upgraded my iTunes and iPad to be on iOS5. My iPad no longer syncsmovies or photos - iTunes indicates they are synced, but nothing on the ipad. HELP! It also appears the only way to see music content from iTunes is to now upload to the Cloud. This doesn't make any sense to me.

Upgrade Questions to iOS5?

So I got my new iPod for christmas and it came with 4.3 firmware and I wanted iOS5. So I went to iTunes and downloaded the software three times and ALL three times it would fail right before installing. So being me I went out to Google and found a iOS5 firmware download for iPod Touch so all I would have to do is Shift + Restore. That worked perfectly. The problem is, My device is laggy. The music player is especially bad: When I go into cover flow and come out, the springboard will reset. This happens everytime. Unlocking the device to the music app is also slow and sometimes causes the ap to force quit.YouTube is slow to load and so is the video. WiFi connectivity is ridiculously slow. My 2nd Gen iPod will connect faster.
Can someone tell me what the problem is!? No I have NOT jailbroken. This is a brand new device and I intend to keep it that way. What should I do?

I recently updated my iPhone 4 to iOS5. I followed all the direcions, but when it was done and my phone loaded backup, none of my apps were on my phone. My downloaded tones and music were there, not my apps. Is there any way to get them back?

Yes, you can restore from backup, sync with itunes, or install them individually again. I recommend one of the first 2 options, obviously.

Mail Contacts Calendars question ios5

in mail, contacts, calendars in the new ios5 there is a tab that says My Info. however it is not my name and it can be any random contact (ie: Mom) what is this about and how can i change it to my name?

Try double clicking the home button. This should bring up a single row of apps. Hold down on one of them until they all start to wiggle with the little red circle with a minus in it. Find the mail and contacts apps and tap on those red circles. It's kind of a force quit for the app. Then try to reopen your mail and see if it'll let you in.
You can also look up on the right of this screen and see if there's any answers in the 'more like this' box.

So the problem is ipad 2 reconises CS3070 as HID keyboard! Wualla
Can it be done? P.S : There is no escape key on CS3070
If this can not be done, i'll be forced to use all-in one pc 's which are heavy and not mobile...
And also this will be a problem when i am mobile with the barcode reader and ipad since again there will be no on-screen keyboard.

By the way Correction!!! CS3070 has an disconnect button so it works as it is with the on screen keyboard. connection time is perfect 2 seconds, but disconnection time is 20 seconds on my ipad 1, so do you think ipad2 or future ipad 3 will be faster to disconnect thank you

can I download ios5 on my touch 4g directly through a wifi connection or it must be done through a computer? I loaded ios5 on my computer (using a wifi connection at my library, but ordinarily I use a modem) but when I hooked the touch to it to home it said it would take 60+ hours to load on the touch.

Try a manual dowload as specified here. Then move the download to your computer and install via iTunes using the instructions specified there also. You will ned an internet connction for the install since iTunes connects to Apple servers to verify you have the latest version.

That is normal, for major upgrades to erase your iPod. You need to sync everything to your computer, make sure it gets a backup, and then post-update restore your iPod from the backup and sync back all your apps and content. See:

I lost all my data after upgrading to iOS5.1. It did not ask me even one single question to delete or sync anything

I tried to restore it but it gave me nothing but empty iPad. I don't use any other 'i' things. I upgrade and install my new computer and update iTunes.
It did not ask me anything about my connecting and I ask for updateing old software. Everything is gone TOO smoth and yes clean iPad.
I tried to find the answer in Internet but it did not fit my case. And they are lucky to have back up or other product from Apple to resync.
I guess this will be the last one. I also have Samsung Andriod and I like it very much even it costs me very little, quick, shape, not confusing, type it easily, not gugu.
SO NEXT ONE, I WILL BUY TABLET FROM SAMSUNG.

I thought it is a intuitive idea to back up. But another problem I heard it before is someone lost the data when he synced his new iTune with the iPad with full data. And it synced iPad empty. I could happen.
True I should back up, which I did not lost my data much except my notes in iPad.
My complain is to say normal sensible OS will not do this. My Samsung did not have fansy iTune which I have to be careful too much. I just keep/remove things without warrying stupid sync.
As you all seem has experience how to use iTune, but I don't. I cannot use it simple.

Using iOS5 on multiple devices

Is there a view on how to use iOS5 on multiple devices when multiple devices are owned by differing family members? i have an iPhone, my partner has an iPhone, and together we have an iPad. [i have a MBP as well but havent updated to Lion yet, dont knwo if this is part of this question]. iOS5 can sync to multiple devices so can we sync all apps and musc between the mobile devices? do they have to be on the same apple user ID? of have i got that wrong?
also contacts and photos wise, we both have our own photos, contacts, calendar and mail. can any/all of these be syncd between us all? i guess the one that would be syncd would be photos as youd want to see that on the ipad.

The iTunes account and iCloud accounts are not linked on your devices.
So you can each have an iCloud account that works on your iDevices nd all be logged into the same iTunes account in the iTunes Store, App Store, IBooks, etc.
You do really need your iMac to be on 10.7.2 as it was a requirement before you moved to iCloud, did you lie when asked the question "are all your devices ready for iCloud".

Since updating to iOS5, iPad1 is no longer recognized by iTunes!

Hey there! I know there have been many variations on this question in the forums, but I have not come across anything that could help so far.
I updated the iPad1 to iOS5 this Saturday. Afterwards, none of the music had transferred over, but as far as I could tell everything else was t here. Left it, & went to bed.
The next day, there were an extremely small amount of apps left on the device (though a few of the purchased ones are there).
From that point on, I have not been able to Sync the iPad. iTunes will no longer recognize/acknowledge it as being plugged in, though the laptop itself sees it and allows me to access parts of it like storage. [My computer, btw, is a laptop - a Toshiba Satellite]. I've tried rebooting the laptop and the iPad (the old press-&-hold-the-2-buttons-at-once trick). I've checked firewall settings. I've scoured the message boards for something that might help, but so far to no avail.
Any clue what else I can do?? Thanks!!!

IF you actually have a 3GS, follow the instructions in the article from which the question was posted and you will be able to update to iOS6.
If you have a 3G, iOS 4.2.1 is as high as it can go.
