IOS5 SMS Inbox Full

My inbox was nowhere near full before the install of iOS5 and now it's telling me it is.  I've already deleted conversations that I didn't want to but thought that it'd help with receiving text messages and still no luck at all.  There are conversations I have that I believe I shouldn't have to delete at all, and there should be a fix for this.  It's ridiculous.  I'm so frustrated and upset because the new software is beautiful and is everything I've ever wanted in a software.  I wonder if there are any solutions out there that don't require you to downgrade or delete all your messages from your inbox...if anyone knows anything, please help!

I'm having the same issue as well. I have an iPhone 4 and recently upgraded to iOS5.
I have read on other forums that if you do a full restore (but not from a backup) and then re sync all your music and apps that it solves the problem. However, this does not restore the text message history.

In my own experience, if you restart your phone, you will get all of the SMS messages that you missed when the phone turns on. However, it only seems to work at every restart. So, I have to restart my phone every 30 minutes or so to keep myself updated on my SMS messages.
I am waiting for a patch I guess, to resolve this. This is the only way that I can see this isue being solved while maintaining my iPhone SMS data

  • IOS5 SMS inbox full error? Has anyone else gotten this? Can't receive texts but can send them out.

Upon restarting my phone I receive all the missed texts. However I still won't receive them again until I restart again. Here's the actual error message: http://i.imgur.com/VHG6w.jpg

i updated to ios5 about 3 hours ago and im facing the similar problem whereby they keep telling me that my 'sms mailbox is full.... etc' i called my carrier which is my service provider cus i thought it was an error on their side that i wasn't receiving any messages. then, they directed me to iphone department and there was a guy who taught me step by step on how and what i should do. so i followed and reset ALL my settings while connecting it trhough with the computer. i then restore from backup from itunes and the whole process took about 2 hours. after installing and backing up the necessary, i have ALL my data with me BUT the message thing is still not working. im still on ios5 after restoring though. im not sure if it's right. i only receive messages that i was suppose to receive hours ago- after i restore my whole phone. and after which, i tried to send out again- it was unsuccessful. oh no! is this some bug on ios5 or?? cus some of my frens don't experience the similar problem like me!!! pls help. thanks!

  • SMS Inbox full, even after deleted tons of messages.

It says my SMS inbox is full even after I deleted TONS of conversations. What should I do!? I already did reset all settings.
    Help please! =(

for some reason it has to do with the iOS5 update that was released yesterday that I upgraded my 3gs phone on before buying a 4s today.  i've been frustrated with it but just figured it out or at least got mine to work.
i had spent a good bit of today deleting messages thinking that would do it.  i spoke to AT&T (clueless) where I got my new 4s phone today and did some research here on apple's website and was put on hold by an apple rep for an hour today.  from googling i found that your phone supposedly holds 75,000 messages but it must be less than that or have a different way of calculating it than you might think.  here's why.
you have more messages than you think.  a lot of my conversations went back to 2008.  there was one person in particular that i had exchanged a good number of messages with but i wanted to keep those so after deleting messages all day and getting nowhere i decided to figure out how to export SMS messages that i wanted to save.  there is an app called SMS Export and that did the trick.  I ran it and was suprised to see that after all of my deleting today i still had 61,000 messages.  so i exported this one person I had exchanged 20,000 messages with and deleted her messages from my phone leaving me with 41,000.  i restarted my phone and when it booted back up the new texts starting flowing through, 17 in all missed today.
    back in business!

  • SMS inbox full? But not really.

I suddenly got a message a few hours ago that said "Your SMS mailbox is full. New messages cannot be received until you delete some messages." I know my iPhone is nowhere near reaching it's storage capacity and I have had the same messages on there from my last iPhone for a couple years. So it seemed odd. But I deleted a bunch of messages and turned it on and off and I was still unable to receive text messages. I then deleted a bunch of entire conversations and turned it on and off and still couldn't receive texts. I then backed up my iPhone and reset it to factory settings. When I did that it, I received all of the text messages I had been sent in the past few hours. Then, I restored it to its previous backup and again, it said my SMS inbox was full, which makes no sense, since I'd already deleted hundreds. If anyone can help, PLEASE. Thanks.

i also got the error message "Your sms mailbox is full. New messages cannot be received until you delete some messages." and i have more then enough memory ...
i just called apple care and this is what they told me to do
go to  Settings -> General settings -> Reset -> Reset all settings
    this WON'T erase any data!
Then after about 5 mins connect the phone to the computer with iTunes open and then the text messages should come thru
    this worked for me!
hopefully it will work for you too

  • No Sender Name in SMS Inbox

I have just changed from a Pearl to a Curve and have a problem displaying the senders name in the SMS inbox even if they are in my Contacts.  I had the same problem on the Pearl but found that if I also saved the contact to the SIM, the name would then appear in the Inbox.
I have tried the same solution on the Curve but it has not worked.  It is driving me mad as I don't know who a text message is from.
Anyone know anything which will help
    Thanks
    Cris

Hi there Yes, it has to do with the prefix
To fix it go to call log -> smart dialing -> and in "country code" change to your country's code (44 in your case)
That'll fix the name on the messages

  • Emails sent to me are sometime returned to the sender with the message "Inbox full" even though I have maybe less than 100 emails in the Inbox and I regularly compact them. How can I increase the storage space?

    Question
Emails sent to me are sometime returned to the sender with the message "Inbox full" even though I have maybe less than 100 emails in the Inbox and I regularly compact them. I delete emails from the Inbox and the Sent and Trash boxes to overcome this. How can I increase the storage space to stop this happening?

    Hi terrybohle1938,
Firefox is a web browser. It provides access to online content. Things like your email are handled by the content provider. Who is your email provider? You'll have better luck consulting their documentation.
That being said, deleting only email is a great way to free up space. Another option would be to purchase a "Premium" account if your email provider offers this service. Many times more storage space is offered as part of paid subscription.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Why is my SMS Mailbox full after going to iOS 5?

Ok so after "upgrading" to iOS 5 I get this message when I send messages "Your SMS mailbox is full. New messages cannot be recieved until you delete some messages". After hours on the phone with AT&T and Apple, I did figure some stuff out. 75,000 text message is the limitation of the SMS application. I found through google, an application called PhoneView from ecamm(not free) that will backup and all data on the iPhone but additional it tells you the number of messages. I had 101,732 messages on my iPhone 4. This is because I've had an iPhone since the original they were released in 2007. I've accrued 101,000 message in over 4 years time. At no point was this an issue until i downloaded iOS 5. iOS 4 had no problem with my amount of text messages. I was simply told to delete the messages by my helpful and knowledgable Apple Call Center rep. I wasn't explained why all of a sudden this is a problem. i have over 14GB of free space on my iPhone 4 but my "SMS Mailbox is full." So now since there is no application that has the rights to manage iPhone iOS 4 or higher (i.e. iOS 5) data/messages I have to go thru and manually delete and the 27,000 messages I don't need one conversation at a time. Thanks iOS 5! So this is my reward for being a loyal iPhone user since the beginning. Why is my SMS mailbox full at 75,000 messages? Is not the new iMessage service encouraging even more use on messaging? Please explain

    I think I found a solution!
I've had this same issue since I upgraded last night.  I tried deleting messages to no avail.  I still had to turn my phone off and back on to receive messages and even then I didn't always receive all messages queued up.  Today I've been fiddling around with settings to see if I could make a difference.  My means were not very scientific, so I can't pinpoint exactly what made things work, but I'll try to recount the steps I took:
    1.  I had toggled off iMessage support which made no difference
    2.  I went into the iCloud settings (Settings->iCloud) and did the following:
         a.  Turn OFF bookmarks
         b.  Turn OFF "Find My iPhone"
         c.  Under "Storage & Backup" I turned OFF iCloud Backup
    3.  I then went back to the Messages settings (Settings->Messages) and turned iMessage back on.  Instantly I got a new text message notification.
Since performing these steps I've been able to send and receive text messages with no issues at all.  I have no clue if this will work for others, but thought I'd share.

  • SMS inbox doesn't show new messages after upgrading to OS 5.0.0.681. SMS format appears as IM.

My SMS inbox doesnt show new messages and also my Curve 8900 doesnt prompt for any new messages. However, the Mobiso application (which logs calls, texts) shows messages coming in with its text lengths. I asked this to Blackberryhelp on Twitter but it said to contact service provider, but there is nothing wrong with it. The format of the SMS inbox should have something wrong otherwise the Mobiso application should not have logged all messages.
Please help me, i am missing all my daily SMS since last 20 days.
Will degrading the OS help? Which is recommended OS version for BB Curve 8900?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

  • Reading form SMS Inbox

    Hello everyone,.
I am new in developping with J2ME. I have to develop a program for mobile phones that can read sms everytime they get in the inbox. I have been reading about reading them before they get to sms inbox of the phone. I don't know why I should do it. Is it not possible to read them from the phone SMS inbox. I need to be able to read them, before or after they get into the phone sms inbox. I can use any phone or tehcnology. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
    Thanks a lot,
    Jordi

No, not for port 0. That's the default port which you don't need to specify because it's implicit. Like I said, you can't intercept SMS which go into the INBOX. Also, for SMS based applications, there are some ports that a developer should use for this purpose. Don't quite remeber which ones, but you can find them in this forum, as I mentioned thsi in some previous post.

  • Inbox full message when not full, repair Inbox but all messages gone & empty Inbox keeps thinking

With an Inbox full message and couldn't download messages any more, I moved most messages to another folder under Archive but still get the same message. Reading from others' posts, I repaired Inbox but all messages there is gone and it keeps thinking forever. Tried compacting Inbox, it keeps thinking. Tried reboot and compacting (all) folders, it keeps thinking. Also deleted inbox.msf, which only one unused out of several email account's folder has, but no help. Sometimes when Inbox stops thinking, checking mail still gets Inbox full message. Wasted a whole morning already ... any idea please?

reboot your computer into safe mode with networking to stop your anti virus interfering and then compact your folders etc.

  • Assigning a Hotkey to the SMS Inbox

I would like to assign a hotkey (the one with the envelope to be exact) to my SMS inbox. I would like to be able to reach the SMS inbox with one click, but apparently it is not possible. You can assign to "messages" in general but then its two more clicks to the inbox. I know that for a new SMS message an icon with direct link appears but this is not the point here. Is there any hack or maybe 3rd party app to achieve a direct link to the inbox? This question applies to all E series phones I think. Thanks.

So is your "Messages" or "SMS" icon missing? Try to reset the device by removing the battery for 30 seconds. Also try to reset the theme by going into Options | Theme, hitting the menu button, and choosing Reset Theme Defaults.
