Ios5 update: repeated text alert tones.
Hello and for those who are curious about this topic.. This is the low down...
I will recieve a text alert.. Then half way through that alert... I will have another.. Then just after that has been alerted.. Another will send straight after.
After the tones have stopped, if i am playing music, the music will fade in and out constantly as if i am still hearing the text alerts :S
This started after i updated to IOS5, anyone else have this? Its really annoying!
I solved the problem by changing the SMS tone in the settings menu. After this I reseted the tone to the original sound. Very strange, but it worked!

HI I downloaded form the store two text alerts, but on trying to find them under text alert section on my phone, I could not see them, it trurned out that they have been put into my music folder, and I cannot seem to be able to find them, to use them on the phone, I paid good money fore them, and at the minute they are useless.
I have an Iphone 3gs with software 5.01, and never done the text alert I used to the computer to down load them, expecting the itunes to put them in the correct place, on my phone.
I I have dropped a clange then I will know next time, but can anyone help me use the said downloads.

Derek.Select 'tones' under library on iTunes left Pane, do you see your text tones on the right Pane now?
If they are there, connect your iPhone to your computer, select your iPhone under 'Devices' on iTunes left Pane, then on the right Pane, select the TONES tab, check the text tones you want to transfer to your phone and click the SYNC button on the lower right window. -
Is it possible to change the text alert tone on an iPhone 5s to a custom tone?

I found this on Youtube, 'how to make SMS ringtones for iPhones running iOS 5 or higher without jailbreaking'. It uses a free app called Ringtone Maker. I now have the text alert I wanted.

Still no update to SMS alert tones!!!! Why?
I really cant understand why Apple seem to refuse to allow the customisation of the message alert tones. Dispite what must have been numerous requests to do so since its launch.
And now we have the iPhone 4, the new iPhone to compete as one, if not the, best smartphone in the world..
Yet we still cant do what I know a lot of us want.
The only reason I really bothered to JB my iPhones was because I could customise the alerts and create themes.
I really dont want to JB this version but still Apple insists on making this a no option. I know guys say its not top of their list but blimey this has been a basic requirement for most guys since the beginning. Not even an App not that I think one could be created given the principal involved in access core software.
But really why couldnt Apple do this small thing??
Instead of sitting in a public place hearing one of those generic tones and watching a good few people all check their phone including me!!!
I am only left with the silent option which really in this day and age isnt a great feature of a £500 phone!!agree! fully... i could do this with my phone in the 90's! the fregin 90's!

Since about a month now my iphone 4 text/alert tones, Keypad and lock tones and also the music are no longer working. It is not onTone 'None'. When someone calls me it rings no problem but no other sunds seem to work. It only vibrates.
If I go onto itunes from my phone it also doesnt play the clips of music. Has anyone else had this? I have reset, restored, updated and nothing has worked or helped.No the mute button isnt on as it still rings for calls.
Mine is since that update aswell, I have been blaming that but just wasnt 100% sure. There was an update this week but hasnt sorted it. Im a 4hr drive from nearest apple store so really trying to avoid having to send it away/go to a store with it. -
No sound on YouTube or text alerts since ios8
I get no sound from YouTube when clicking from links in Facebook or emails.
Text alert tones also stop working randomly and it won't play alert tones in sounds settings. Ring tones are fine and I'm not using custom tones.
Sure a reboot fixes it temporarily but it stops working again after a few messages.
Any one else having this trouble?

Did it work before? When did this issue begin to occur? If it works before, system restore can be under consideration.
Please go into Internet Options>Advanced tab scroll down to Multimedia and make sure that "Play sounds in web pages" is check, click Apply/OK.
If it is already checked, uncheck it, click Apply/OK then go back and recheck it, click Apply/OK.
Meanwhile, does the sound work in the following website?

Meanwhile, it seems you have two output devices, please go to control panel-> sound->under playback tab, set the other device as default to test
the issue.

Has anyone had issues with not hearing the text alerts on the iPhone 5?
hello i have been having issues with my iphone 5 not hearing the text alert tones.it will go from time to time & only hear the vibrating sound, The wired part is all other alerts work fine , just text.
Has anyone having this same issue ? Also i noticed sometimes when i text, i'll see some crazy blury lines go across my screen like as i text it will move across any help?I have had that issue with no text alert sound and also with calls, no ring for the call but then I got a missed call or voicemail alert. Never had the blurry lines though. Right after I upgraded, the ring changed to a very short version of what I have selected and only rang once, other times not at all. This was a very big problem since I am working from my car most of the day and get a lot of calls and texts. I did a reset with home button and button on the top as described in a post somewhere here on the forum and the problems stopped. So far so good. Give reset a try!

have a second hand iPhone, now since the new update my text tone which is the Tri-Tone seems to glitch and repeat the first part multiple times very quickly and then carry on every time I receive a text. The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
The new one is a 2.3 GHz intel core i7
In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem. Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page. Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.) -
Since updating my iphone 4 to IOS5 my message alert tone is distorted
since updating my iphone 4 with IOS5 my message alert tone (tri tone) is distorted it was fine before the update
Since updating my Iphone 4s to the iOS 6, i am now having to charge my phone at least three times a day, whereas before I did the update, I would charge it at night before bed and it would stay charged the whole day.

I have a question regarding my txt/alert tones. I recently updated my iPhone 5's software without first backing it up on iCloud or my computer (oops). After my phone finished updating, i lost the new ringtones and txt/alert tones i had bought. I connected my iPhone to my computer and sync'd it hoping that it could download my purchases from the itunes store and then put them back on to my phone but no such luck. When i look at my iphone on my computer and look at tones, they do not show up at all. However, if i click on the "On This iPhone" tab and click on "Tones" the deleted ringtones and altert tones show up...they are just grey'd out and have a dotted circle to the left of them. I also tried to go to the iTunes store on my phone and redownload them and it tells me that i have already purchased this ringtone and asks me if i want to buy it again. I press Cancel. I know when i do that with music it would usually let me redownload the song without buying it again but it wont let me with the ringtones...so how do i get them back? any help would be greatly appreicated

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

I purchased many alert tones in itunes and then updated my itunes. Now my alert tones do not show up, although if I were to go re-purchase those items, itunes says I already purchased them. Where do I find those tones and how do I get them back into my phone without having to repurchase???? This is so frustrating! Please Help!
1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.

Hi everyone, I just got the new iOS5 update for my iPhone 3GS. I receive a message saying that "Your SMS mailbox is full. New messages cannot be recieved until you delete some messages." I deleted all of my messages but still could not receive texts after restoring and restarting my phone. Can anything be done to remedy this??? Thanks!
Apple is screwing the pooch on this one. Need to call in and be vocal.

How do you use a purchased ring tone as a text alert?
Bought the yoda ring tone which everyone loves when it goes off. So decided to buy the yoda text alert but can't figure out how to make it the default message alert sound. Anyone know???? Figured if they sell special ring tones for messaging there must be a way.
You cannot. This is not a current feature of iphone.
You must choose from the provided text tones. You cannot add any at all. -
