Ios6.1 update - icloud verification failed

I have just updated my iphon 4 iOS to v6.1.  All seemed to go well until I 'signed in'. I received the message: "Verification Failed.  The certificate for this server is invalid.  You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be 'setup.icloud.com' which could put you confidential information at risk".  Have I done something wrong or is there a failure elsewhere?  I have put a calendar event in my iMac which has not copied to my phone and, equally a new event on my phone doesn't copy to my iMac. Any help would be appreciated, please.

Same for me.  CAn't connect to itunes store or internet either.

  • ICloud verification failed?

I have recently updated my iphone 4s to the new iOS 7 software, since doing so my imessage will not work (awaiting verification) nor my facetime.
I am attempting a restore on my phone but everytime i go to log off find my phone to do so it says Verification failed.
    Any tips please?

I am having the same problem, only with SETTINGS > ICLOUD
I was able to get iMessage to work, but by doing an iCloud log in from here:
    SETTINGS > MESSAGES
However, my Address Book is no longer syncing since the upgrade to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4S. I tried to log into iCloud via Settings (as in top line above) and I'm getting Verification Failed after a long attempt. I have tried it in a WiFI environment as well as cellular. I am unable to log into iCloud from the main settings.

  • HT4623 Trying to update but verification fails saying I am not connected to Internet. I am connected to Internet though.

Trying to update 7.04 and later. I have verified I am connected to WiFi but the update fails ssying I am not connected.
    How to fix?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Then reconnect to wifi and try updating again.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.4. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
     Cheers, Tom

  • ICloud verification fails

Everytime I try to manage my iCloud account it prompts me to verifiy it and then presents a blank screen.
in addition, my @me.com/iCloud mail accounts keep asking me for my pasword and failing.
It works just fine on my iPhone and iPad. Same password no problem.
This is a big problem Apple.
    Why no info??????

  • Verification failed. No update thru iCloud.

I have 2 ipod touchs and have not been able to update thru icloud for about 2 weeks.  I keep getting the Verification failed error message.  I do have Itunes match.  2 weeks ago I bought an album and it showed up on iPod to download from cloud.  I recently bought another album, but it doesnt show up on either unit.  I don't seem to have any problems with my Iphone 5.  Nothing has changed.  Is apple refusing to honor the older products?  I have noticed that I can no longer update any apps, as they have moved on and little by little I am losing apps.  No problems updating my iphone 5.

Try powering off and then back on the router
Try resetting network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
Try when connected to another network
    Update via iTunes

  • Icloud verification password failed

I am getting the same message on both my devices. when I try and enter my icloud password  i get the verification failed or timed out message.  I am running ipad mini on ios6 and ipad air on ios8.1.  I tried resetting the network settings  and I still have this problem, I don't want to upgrade the mini to 8 as it has a lot of adobe documents I will lose in the process.  can anyone shed some light as they were all working fine til a couple of days ago. I havent made any changes bar a password update
    many thanks

The software version on my iphone (working correctly) was just updated to 7.0.6.
The software on my ipad is at 7.0.4.
I have not gotten a notification to update the software on my ipad, and now cant check for updates of software.
I think this discrepancy in the sw versions could be the problem.
Any ideas on how to correct it?

  • Verification failed after update .Apple id password not accepted

I have just updated to latest IOS on my iphone and ipad .Now i just keep getting verification failed message .And phone and ipad will not accet my apple id password .
    Thanks In advance

That would only make sense if password was typed wrong, did you try to check if password is prompted for correct apple id, may be your icloud account is different? No other ideas, sorry.

  • IOS6 update fail

I was trying to update to iOS6 on one of my iPads, but although I am connected to the internet (can get to websites, etc) I get a message saying that verification failed because I was no longer connected to the internet. What's up with that? It's a compay owned iPad so it's really not convenient to have to sync it to a computer. I'm not sure if it's and iPad2 or 3

I've been facing the same issue for the last three days! I've tried both OTA and iTunes but all ends up with the software update failure notice.
One interesting thing I notice is that while updating OTA the file size is 599mb and it downloads much fasther but on the other hand while downloading from iTunes it's 899mb!!!

  • Recently my iPad3 and iPhone5 stopped synching automatically to iCloud. Around the same time I backed them both up to my Macbook Pro and installed the iOS6 update. Any thoughts or help is appreciated!

Recently, I noticed that my iPhone5, iPad 3 and iPod Touch 4th Gen stopped backing up to the iCloud automatically despite ALL of them doing so previously, without a single problem. A few weeks ago I bought a Macbook Pro and I backed up all 3 devices to it a couple times (and they still backed up to the iCloud by themselves without a problem). A few days ago, I noticed that ALL 3 OF THEM stopped backing up to the iCloud automatically. Around the same time, I backed them up to my Mac and I also downloaded the iOS6 update. I'm not sure what is wrong. Has anybody else experienced this type of problem? I'm NOT very familiar with MAC computers as this is my first one and I've been learning a lot as I go. I don't know if I did something in the setting's of iTunes when I backed the devices up that could have caused the decives to stop backing up to the iCloud automatically. I did notice on my previous laptop (a Gateway) and on this one (the MacBook Pro) that on each device, I had to go into "Setting's" on each device and turn the "iCloud Backup" back to the  "On" position! That was right after I backed them up to each computer. I attempted to fix it yesterday by adjusting the setting's in iTunes, but nothing worked. If anyone can help, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you!!!

Ok, I can try those things this afternoon. I have to leave now and won't be able to try for several hours. I'll let you know how things turn out. Thank you again. Also, I am not sure what DNS Setting's are regarding the router and how to change them. Thank you again for trying to help me with this. One side note. I noticed yesterday on another post regarding this topic, a man said he changed his iCloud email from one to another. I have two. One is and @me.com address and one is an @icloud.com address. I switched them around the other day. One device had @me.com as the one the email one be sent from (I think that was the phone) and I believe the iPad 3 had @iCloud.com as the other. Well, I switched them both to @icloud.com. In the post I mentioned a man said that he did that to his, and it worked. That was a few days ago and this was around the same time I began noticing the devices not synching to iCloud like they should. Right now I have for the iCloud email account (on both the iPhone and the iPad) @iCloud.com as the setting that any emails from that account would be sent from and the @me.com is also turned to the "On" position on both devices. I figured that if I'm sending an email from an iCloud account it should say "@iCloud.com" after it rather than "@me.com" after it. I just did that so everthing was the same on both devices and out of personal preference. No other reason really as I don't ever use the account to email anyone and have never given either address to anyone. Only Apple has them and they sent a couple things initially and I never receive anything on that account (for the most part). Ocasionally I get something from Apple and that's a rarity. I don't know if that may factor in at all or not. It did for one gentleman. Thank you randers4!

  • Various Software Updates (Intel)" Can't be Installed (verification failed!)

This is essentially a repost of a problem unsolved, but with a new wrinkle:
When I first reported this two months ago, it was just happening on an Intel iMac. Now, someone else in the office just purchased a MacBook Pro, and from the SAME NETWORK, is have the exact same problem!
The process is to run Software Update. Select an update. Downloading begins. But when it gets to the end, Software Update reports:
The update "<whatever the update is named>" Can't be Installed
The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or correupted since being signed by "Apple".
Tried this several times, same message.
So, in the case of the 10.4.8 update, I tried downloading the stand-alone installers (MacOSXUpd10.4.8Intel.dmg and then MacOSXUpd10-1.4.8Intel.dmg).
Both stand-alone packages downloaded, but got a "verification failed" message in the Safari DOWNLOADS window.
Plenty of hard disk space. Permissions Repaired.
I SUSPECT the problem has something to do with either 1) the NetGear router (which connects to the DSL modem) or the Airport Base Station (which connects to the physical network, which connects to the NetGear Router).
Both Macs (iMac & MacBook Pro) are connected via the AIrport base station.
I'm pretty sure I have a good network connection, because I am able to use Apple Remote Desktop to see into the network and connect to the iMac with no connection errors.
Any ideas from all you gurus out there?

I am having the same problems on my wifes iMac. Any large updates just won't come down. Someone had suggested memory problems, but I have done a full hardware check and all is cool. My G5 on the same network get's it's updates OK.
However, when I try to download the combined 10.4.8 update (149Mb) for my wife (via my machine) I still get a verification error! I don't know what to do next. The problems started with the 10.4.8 update, so maybe it's 10.4.7 related?

If you see the white WiFi bars in the upper left corner, that simply means that the iPad has detected a WiFi network, and that does not mean that you are connected to the Internet.

Firstly, go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with the ID you use for iCloud. A new password will be sent to your associated email address.
If that doesn't work, for example because it's going to an address you can't access, then you will have to contact Support. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password' and click 'Continue'.
