IOS6 and Apple Configurator

I updated my iOS devices to 6 using apple configurator. The devices updated no problem, but the apps won't lay down. Now they act like a restored device and I have to start all over. Configurator is also not laying down profiles.

If you did not restore a backup as part of the configuration for the devices in Configurator, you will need to complete the setup assistant on each device manually. If you are not supervising the devices, profiles will not install until you complete the assistant. Apps should install fine in either case, though. How do you know they are not being installed?
Can you be more specific about the configuration you are applying to the devices?

Recently updated MBP and Apple Configurator. Since updating the Update iOS option for Apple Configurator forces me to update the iOS. Thoughts?

Since upgrading both the OS and Apple Configurator I can no longer select the option to not update the iOS when I prepare a device. It is currently selected as When update is available. Also the option appears to be grayed out. Any thoughts?

Google maps is now available in the app store and the carrier update that your refering to was for cell data usage while on wifi. It is perfectly fine to do the update. No issues that i had from that update.

Provisioning Profiles and Apple Configurator

I try to install a provisioning profile (a .mobileprovision file) using Apple Configurator and I find no way of importing it into Configurator.
Apples PDF "Deploying iPhone and iPad - Apple Configurator" says I can use provisionong profiles with Configurator.
What am I doing wrong?

With this I can import configuration profiles (*.mobileconfig), but not the provisioning profile (*.mobileprovision).
The profile I am using is probably fine, as it is working in iTunes. It is used to enable enterprise Apps.

Update to 10.9.1 whips out Server and Apple Configurator Settings

I just updated my mac Mini Server that was already running Mavericks and Server App. When the reboot was done and I started the server is was like I had just installed the app. All the cache and settings were gone. Went to use Apple Configurator. Same thing. All profiles and managed devices and groups are gone. Is there anyway to get these configurations back?

Actually, this is an id10T mistake. I rebooted to the wrong hard drive. Please disregard this problem. It is solved.

Ipad deployment and apple configurator is slowing down

I'm new to deploying iPads and have loaded about 50 so far with 200 more to go. I loaded 30 in my cart but after about 20, apple configurator is running so slow especially when I get to the assign mode. And actually right now, the configurator program opens slowly. What did I do wrong and how can I fix this? Please help as I need to have these done by Tuesday.

Google maps has gone away from ios6 and apple maps doesnt work well for India. Stuck ??

Apple released there own maps, and got away with google maps....Now, For lots of countries like India etc , apple maps arent done well yet... and google had a wonderful support all across lots of countries. Getting away from google maps has made us stuck with maps functional on iphone4 and ios6.
This is not working well updating ios6 and we are losing biggest use of iphone (Maps)

Folders on Ipad and Apple Configurator Backups

I can't get my backup in the apple configurator to include the folders with all the apps. I have my ipad the way i want it and now I want to distribute it to other ipads. I backup but the apps don't come with. What am I doing wrong?

I would suggest trying it again, perhaps give your backup a different name from the device that you're backing up. I went through several tries with folders and app positions not being restored, but eventually it started working. I'm still very confused by some of the things that Apple Configurator is doing, but I'll plugging away until I figure out exactly how to use it.

Harddrive and Apple configurator

I am trying to get 2 carts of Ipods up and running for our support services dept. I am using apple configurator. I have tried making a back up copy of a ready iPod and pushing it out to the others in the cart. The back up file is 16Gb. This fills up my hardrive during the prepare phase. I have also tried to push the content to the app through assign feature with the same results. My question is does apple configurator make a back up copy of each individual iPod, or does it just use the original to build the others? is there a way to remedy this problem? I am using one of the new mac book pros with the 256 SSD drive

My understanding is you need to have deployed in supervisor mode on the ipad to get the code back. You may want to talk to your apple salesperson to discuss alternative ways of getting the codes back.

Imovie and apple configurator

Looking for help! Does anyone know how you can get a movie off your ipad if it is supervised by apple configurator? We have several students who are using the same ipads. Each kid is making a short movie, but we can't figure out how to get them off the ipads since they are supervised by the configurator. Not sure what step to take to make this work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Enroll and setup which app or apps you want. After purchasing, apple will send you a vpp spreadsheet that you import into configurator. The guide at the site listed above will help.

ITouches and Apple Configurator

I am having trouble getting my 2nd generation iTouches to work with Apple Configurator. Will Configurator work with 2nd Gen? 4.2.1 OS?

When supervisor is picked as an option for preparation I get the error message "Supervision Failed". When Supervision is turned off my iPod Touch's will almost install and then "time out". Will not load apps designated for the profile that was setup for them. Thanks for any help.

VPP and Apple Configurator

We started our iPad deployment with just a few iPads. We bought some VPP and use them to install apps on a few devices. Now we have added to the group of iPads to make it a cart of 20. We are going to start using configurator to setup and manage them. Is it possible to take the codes we have used on the first iPads and move them over to Apple Configurator so we can deploy the apps that way?

IOS 7 and Apple Configurator

Hello Everyone,
So I know I am not the first person with these problems. I have been unable to add/change profiles on any student iPad. I've also been unable to install new apps either. Apple Configurator is stating that the profile says apps cannot be installed, even though that isn't the case.
At this point, I can't make any changes to any settings on any iPad on our carts. Is there a solution that I don't know about? Is there a fixi coming out in the next couple of days for this?

I don't think it will allow you to connect to a PC, only to a Mac. this is only for the task of downloading pictures or videos. It serves no other purpose that I'm aware of.

There is no mention of this working with PC and since Apple Configurator is Mac only, then when you activate Supervised mode, you are restricted to that particular Mac, except for transferring images and videos.

DCIM and Apple Configurator

We have 16 Ipads that I've wiped using Apple Configurator. The kids have taken lots of pictures on the Ipads but to my amazement I can't now browse the DCIM folder when connecting them via USB.
Please can someone advise me how I can get these pictures off the Ipads..........also can we simply not browse to them anymore? Some people suggest setting up Dropbox or Icloud but before I go down this route I need some advice.

When devices are supervised you loose access to camera roll
via iTunes sync from the any machines that did not supervise the devices
You used to be able to get the photos using supervising machine
I'm not sure if this has changed with later versions of configurator
You could email the photos from the iPads or use cloud based option such as
Dropbox etc
There are free iOS file sharing apps such as files connect which let you browse network shares such as AFP SMB
WebDAV. Files connect has access the ios device camera roll
However I have not tried on supervised devices

Apple configurator and ios 6

I have updated my ipods to iOS6 using Apple Configurator. Now it won't put any apps back on the device. They are supervised, but it wiped everything clean with the update. How can I get it to take the profile and apps after the update? All the ipods now act like a brand new device and don't have any profiles on them. Even when I hit refresh in apple configurator it just says Device running newest software.
