IOS6 iPod Touch Contacts

I downloaded iOS6 and found out that after the download all of my contacts have been erased. I checked my iCloud, and no contacts are there either. Has anyone else had this same problem? (I shouldn't have downloaded iOS6)

Hello, Welcome to Discussions.
The iPod Touch contains a non mountable disk drive. So no actual way for you to access it's content which is protected.
Do you have contacts on the Touch your trying to transfer off into the computer?

If they are still on icloud.com, just sign into your iCloud account in Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts on.  If they aren't you may be able to restore them from your iCloud backup by following this user tip: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841.

  • Unable to set up Groups in my iPod touch Contacts application.

Can't see how to organize my contacts into Groups. My iPod touch just shows "All contacts" and I don't see any way to create Groups in iTunes either. I checked the iPod touch online manual and it mentions the Groups but says nothing about setting them up. I have been using the palm system for years but I am switching out. I am willing to reenter a few 100 contacts myself, but I do need to organize them into Groups. Please help.

    Restore it. Maybe that helps.

  • New hard drive: iPod touch contacts to Outlook?

We use Windows Vista; my wife's iPod Touch was syncing just fine with Outlook (for Calendar and Contacts). Our hard drive died, so got a new one. I thought I had been regularly backing up the Outlook .pst files, but the ones that I found on my external backup drive were older than I thought they should have been.
Thus: is there a way to "transfer" the contacts (and calendar, if possible) entries from the iPod Touch to a newly installed Outlook (remember that our hard drive died)? I would think there would be, as when you enter Contacts directly into the iPod Touch and sync, I think those sync "back" to Outlook (i.e. it's a 2-way street for Calendar and Contacts).
Thanks (hope the ? makes sense)

    good luck !

  • Can I overwrite contacts in Address book with my iPod Touch contacts?

I'm an idiot - I somehow managed to delete ALL of my contacts in Address book. I don't use Time Machine (not enough external HD space) so I can't restore that way.
I did happen to sync my iPod Touch shortly before I deleted everything so my contacts are fine there. Short of re-typing everything into Address Book, is there a way I can tell iTunes to overwrite my contacts with the ones from the iPod touch?
It's the only place I have my contacts - and because I enabled Google sync, it deleted all of my Google contacts too! HELP!!

If you sync, the contacts will be copied back into Address Book on your Mac. You should get an error message that pops from iSync (a warning about changing more than 5% of your data), which you should Allow.
In case you're worried, I have tested this (backed up my address book, then deleted the contents, then synced and my contacts were restored from my IPT).
    Hope this helps...

  • Ipod touch contacts

I have a 8gb touch and have input my contacts manually but when I sync it I lose all my contacts. I don't have it set up with a email account or outlook. Does it have to be set up with one of those accounts in order to be saved on my touch? The only settings I see for contacts is the sort order. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Problem solved. Apple has a support article about syncing issues (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1672).
Steps 8 & 9 were the ones that solved my issue.
    8. Turn your iPhone or iPod touch off and then back on (if you did not already try this above).
    9. Turn syncing off for the affected data. From the home screen, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, and Calendars, and then tap your MobileMe account. Move the slider for the data type that is causing you issues. Wait for confirmation that that data type has been disabled, then press Home. Confirm that the data has been deleted on your phone, and then turn syncing for that data type back on.

  • Searching iPod touch Contacts by Numbers

I need to search iPod contacts by numbers .. when I type any name it filters automatically till the name appears but when I search by typing numbers, nothing appears..
This option is available in the Address Book application in the Mac OS .. so why its not working with iPod touch although they have the same application ..
I need an answer please on how to search ipod contacts by numbers..

I don't believe that you can.
Although they share the same information, they are not the same application. The Touch, which uses the iPhone OS, can't run applications written for a Mac, running the Mac OS (and vice versa). Therefore, there is no good reason to assume the two programs will have identical features.

  • Error when trying to upgrade to iOS6 ipod touch

It is my daughters iPod touch that i am having an issue with. Each time I try to upgrade to version 6.0.1 via itunes I get the error: There was a problem downloading the software for the iPod "Daughters iPod". The service is temporarily unavailable.
I click on the more info button but everything is up to date, there are no other things plugged into a USB, etc, etc. I am not sure what to do.
Have tried on 2 different PC's but to no avail. Can anyone assist?
The version is 4.2.1 if that make ANY difference.
I have tried a number of times over the last few days so doubt that it is an actual busy server issue.
    Thanks for your help,
    John

NIcolas, Looks like one of th eupgrde steps failed. You will have to open a tac case here as most likely tac will need to get into expert mode adn make some changes to permit you to complete the install. Matthew

  • How do I "reset" calendars and contacts on iPod Touch 2G

I need to know how to erase and/or reset all contacts and calendars on my ipod Touch. Initially I synced with my mobileme account. When one of my contacts did not sync properly, however, I set iTunes to sync with calendars and contacts. Now I have duplicate contact and calendar entries on my Touch. I want to erase/reset all calendars and contacts on my Touch, and then sync them again and in the future via mobileme. Please help. Thanks!

Ah, I see what you did. However I think my problem is a little bit different. I have my "mobile.me" contact file (which syncs just fine), PLUS I have an "on my iPod touch" contact file. I'd like to delete the "on my iPod" set of info and retain the Apple (me.com) info.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

  • When syncing Contacts, does IPod Touch or MacBook Pro take priority?

    - I want to sync my Contacts between my IPod Touch and my MacBook Pro. -
    - A message says that my MacBook Pro contacts will be changed 5% if I proceed. -
    - I want my MacBook Pro Contacts to override my IPod Touch Contacts, not the other way around. -
    - Any advice on how to accomplish this? -
    - Thanks. -

With the iPod connected to the computer go to the Info pane under the iPod (device). At the bottom there is an Advance section. That section includes the option (check boxes) to replace specific information on the iPod with that on the computer. Is that want you want?

  • IPod Touch 5th Generation won't turn on and the home button is broken, followed the steps from another thread but it's still not working

I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation with iOS 8.1, my home button is broken and I've been using AssistiveTouch for months now. Today I just locked my iPod and it wouldn't unlock again, it doesn't respond at all, it won't turn on. It was almost fully charged, so it's not the battery. I followed the steps from this thread, but I'm still getting the "USBMuxListenerCreate: No Error" message in CMD Prompt. I bought my iPod abroad and even though I do have the warranty, I've been told at the iStore that it's not valid here, so going to the store isn't really an option. Any ideas how to solve this?

Sorry, but without a working home button it is not possible to reset or restore your device. You should visit an Authorized Appel Service Provider or Apple Store to get it serviced. The warranty for an iPod is not limited to the country where it has been bought, check here: one-year limited warranty
Jailbraking the device will void the warranty.
You can check the warranty status by inserting the serial number on this page: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
A list of Authorized Apple Service Providers can be found here: iPod touch - Contact Us - Apple Support

  • Ipod Touch Registration

Ok, so I just got my ipod touch today. No problem with the initial steps.
I then go to the apple product registration page and register the product there (register.apple.com). It said that it would send me an email for confirmation after I had completed all the steps (haven't received this yet).
When I try to register it to the ASP though, it displays this message:
According to our records, this serial number is registered to another Apple ID. If you have more than one Apple ID, log in to My Support Profile with that Apple ID to see your other registered products. Not sure if you have another Apple ID?
I don't understand. The product isn't showing up on my ASP yet and I don't have any other apple ID. What could possibly be the case here and has anyone else encountered the same situation?
    Thank you.

Contact App if you are sure you are registered the iPod to the account you are checking.
