IOS6 update : Music app completely lost...

I updated my iPhone 4s last night, this morning I had a brand new OS, everything works fine... except the Music app. When I updated my iPhone, I had iTunes Match enabled showing my whole Library (approx. 6000 songs) everything was fine in iOS5, but after the update, in the Songs tabs, i have the list showing no name, no duration and when I click on one of the blank slots it's not playing anything.
The artists/albums info are the but as soon as I come a t the song level, everything is blank. It's as if I lost part of an XML file containing the last childs...
I tried to
- reboot
- disable itunes match
- disable showing all my songs and then re-download some to re-initialize my library
- sync from iTunes
- delete everything with iTunes using the manually manage songs
- wipe the phone to restore it with my the last backup (done after the iOs6 update)
Nothing is working.....
If any of you have another idea, I will gladly test it...

I'm in the same boat.  Went to the Genius Bar at the Apple store with no results.  The guy that helped me stated that one of the genius' had the same issue and could not resolve.  I'm away from home so I'll have to wait till Monday.  Thais is the last time I'll jump on the first day of an update to be on the bleeding edge.

Hold the power button and the home button down until the screen goes black and the apple logo appears. This will do a reset and you should be able to update your apps then.

  • IOS6 using music app with itunes match

my itunes match account contains more than 80.000 songs, approx. 2.800 albums - iOS6 the music app starts now each time to sync itunes match. This takes now more than 30 minutes untill the album list is on screen.

I don't know what the issue is, have had it since I have had match, and am thinking of ditching it because of it.  Now, after deleting and replacing a whole slew of my music with the wrong songs, have the stuff won't play or download from match, even stuff I buy in iTunes. It's ridiculous. Apple should be paying me to be losing my media by using match. It's driving me CRAZY!

  • How to configure iTunes 11.1 to only download ios6 updates for apps?

Since I will always be running ios6 on my iPhone4 and not ios7, I need to know how to configure iTunes 11.1 to download ios6 updates for my apps in iTunes and remove the ios7 updates that have been downloaded to my mac. How do I do this?

    Thanks for the reply.
It's quite a pity that Apple defines what ios "is compatible with my hardware" , since the so called "upgrade" to ios7 on hardware that isn't ready for it, is really a downgrade. It's like putting racing wheels of a Formula 1 car on a common car, it's not a good fit. From what I've read and seen on Apple community websites, ios7 will slow your iPhone4, drain your battery life, make apps startup slower.
And you do pinpoint the problem with Apple nowadays, I choose not to upgrade. I think different. And that's not supported by Apple.
It's either their marketing strategy to force people to upgrade and brick their phones in order to buy new ones or a great lack of relationship management with the customers. Since the issue of so called "ios upgrades" that result in slower performance for older phones seems to be a continious trend for Apple at the moment.

  • Why when I updated my apps I lost all my apps and information on my ipad

why when I updated my apps on my iPad I lost all my apps and information I had and pic.

Please give some more details about what you were doing when you lost your apps and information so that we can have a better idea of what happened!
With that said, you can always re-download your apps from the purchased section of the app store on your iPad.

  • Ios8 update music app not working

music app not working after ios8 update

I wanted to add something here that may or may not be accurate, since I was suffering the exact same issues (on an iPhone 6+, and replicated on an iPhone 5 patched to 8.0) you were describing Nick. In an effort to trouble shoot this I picked up one of the third party tools that allows you onto the iOS device file system. I've been trying since Friday night to reproduce the conditions that cause the issue but haven't quite narrowed it down. Including this here in case the Engineers are poking around in the discussion boards and are trying to reproduce this.
This is an iPhone 6+ running 8.0 (12A366) connecting physically to iTunes 11.4 on a MBP running 10.9.5 (13F34; fully patched).
Here's what I did last night and this seems to have worked (meaning, I can sync music now without issue at least for syncs this morning; will confirm tonight by syncing again):
Turned off iTunes Match on the iTunes library I am syncing from
Unchecked all non-AAC music files (Apple lossless and MPEG audio both; these were just flat out refusing to copy over, claiming to have copied but coming up with the exclamation point when accessed on the device via iTunes; none of these lossless or mp3 files have been an issue in any previous version of iOS, meaning they are all of the correct sample and bitrate to be used and can sync to other devices in the household running iOS 7)
Removed all music from the iOS device (by deselecting music syncing)
Hard rebooted the iOS device after disconnecting it; rebooted the iTunes library host
Reconnected the iOS device and fired up the third party app (this is the part I do not recommend, but I was eager to try to figure out what the root cause was)
Removed the iTunes library files on iOS (this is something I had done between other factory resets earlier to force the iOS device to rebuild the library; to rule out library corruption)
Removed any "music" folders remaining on the iOS device (this is also something I had done a few times which had had no effect)
Removed any saved artwork (this was something I had not done before, but I too had noticed a strange correlation between it stopping working and the artwork being synced)
Disconnected and rebooted the iOS device again (forcing a recreation of the iTunes library database files)
Reconnected the device and started syncing small playlists (50-100 songs). In increments it all seems to be syncing up now without issue
The two new steps this time around that seem, at least at initial glance, to have solved the problem are stopping syncing any non-AAC music media files and the deletion of the existing artwork folders on the iOS device. Syncing appears to be working, even after disconnecting and reconnecting the device.

  • Update problem, App lost

After the connection lost during an update an App was lost on the phone (msecure)
The problem is, that I couldn´t reload it on the appstore. The install/open button is still not there. Switch on/off doesn´t work

For the wifi problem, try making a new location and renewing the DCHP lease. This seems to be working for a lot of people (including myself!). See here for the procedure:
    http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/02/fix-os-x-mountain-lion-wireless-connection-proble ms/
Not sure about the app store problem; it may be a result of your flakey wifi connection. Fix the wifi problem first and see if that helps with the app store.

  • Nokia Music app

After updating Nokia Music App, I lost many features like Music Store, genres list, what's new list, recommended list etc. Mixradio was already with previous version hence there was no need to update. No any new feature found in this App (Nokia Mixradio). Very disappointed.....
    please release previous version...

    The Store is still there
Swipe to the"search" screen and type in any artist, album or track you'd like to download.
If you are looking for inspiration, listen to one of the mixes and if you hear something you like to download click the title of the track to get to the product page.

  • HT1349 I am having trouble with the standard music app

I have almost totally black screen I the music app and not able to see the albums I have downloaded

Have you tried closing the Music app completely and seeing if it works properly when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Music 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Music app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • HT1386 My music app displays "no music" after I download songs

Wen I purchase music from iTunes they do not appear in my music app after downloading them on my iPad 4 but via iCloud they do appear and are downloaded to my other (iphone 5) devices.  I am also able to see all the songs I have on iCloud on my iPad 4 however I am not able to download them to the music app.  After download is complete I click on the music app and it displays "no music".

Try this first. Close the music app completely and then reboot the iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't fix it, my next recommendation is to backup your iPad and restore it. I have seen a number of posts like yours in the past couple of weeks, and after much experimentation trying other fixes, the one thing that always seems to work is to restore the software.

  • In apple music app the music sound lower then in all the other apps. What can I do to change that?

Two weeks ago they where still the same volume, no volume limit activated.
    Thanks

The only other things that I can think of to the are to reboot the iPad or quit the music app completely and restart the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
To quit the music app completely - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • 3rd party music app to play iTunes?

I'm looking for a 3rd party music app to replace the updated music app; any suggestions?
I listen to music constantly on public transportation and the app is garbage now.  I try and forward to the next song while shuffling and consistently hit the volume control instead, which is right below. I am a little sick of having my eardrums blown.
The artist view takes far too long if you have multiple albums.
If I can't replace the app I will replace the phone.

  • Built-in music app malfunction, how can I delete and reinstall?

The built-in music app on my iPad 2 is not working.  When I get into it all I get is a black screen with the ability to play one song from one album.  I get the albums, songs, artists, etc menu across the bottom of the screen, but nothing happens when I select these. Does anyone have any suggestions? do I need to delete and reinstall the app? If so, how can I do this, as I can't find the music app anywhere to download and reinstall ....

You can't delete and re-install it as it's one of the built-in apps.

  • Homesharing Not Updating with Apps

When I have an app that needs updated from another homesharing user. It will say I have an update, but I can't update. Truely there is an update, but I have to resync it from the other homesharing user.
    Any help?

I beleive if both the computers are using the same apple ID and both have homesharing turned on you should be able to update music, apps, etc between the computers.  When you have the itunes library that you are synching with highlighted in the lower right hand corner of the window there should be a setting button.  Click on the settings button and make sure that all of the items you want to share with the other computer are clicked.  Hope this helps.

  • Wary about upgrading my wife's 3gs from ios4 to ios6. will the data associated with an app be lost or will it be restored from the backup after the upgrade completes. There is no way to export, email or even print the data contained in the app

wary about upgrading my wife's 3gs from ios4 to ios6. will the data associated with an app be lost or will it be restored from the backup after the upgrade completes. There is no way to export, email or even print the data contained in the app so I am concerned

If the backup and restore takes place properly, you shouldn't have any issue as millions of people have done an update from iOS 4.
