IOS6 upgrade - lost contacts and calendar

Hadn't yet upgraded my iMac OS becasue of the likelihood of this sort of problem. Upgraded my iPhone to iOS6 and now I have no contacts or calendar. I use Outlook as default on my iMac, and all contacts and calendar info is still there (thank God - I use this for my business!) I still have texts (which only show phone numbers, not names!) and emails.
For a similar problem some time back, Apple suggested clearing the iSync log which worked a treat - not this time! I do not have iCloud enabled (yet) except to find my iPhone. I have iTunes 10.7 and my iMac OS is 10.6.8. I have tried adding my iPhone as a device in iSync, but get the message to say it cannot communicate with my iPhone. I suspect the basic problem is that Outlook is no longer syncing with Address Book and iCal - all the info was duplicated there before - no longer!
Any help/suggestions gratefully received...right now, I need this info on my iPhone, but don't have the time to upgrade my iMac OS. When I do that, I also plan to change from Outlook as my default email/calendar/addressbook and use Mail, iCal and Address Book instead.

This is just an educated guess,  but I think most if not all problems are related to data not synced with another service like Google or corporate mail. Data manually entered, and stored in the PlayBook only is lost. Even though this should not happen. Can someone verify this theory?

  • IPhone 4S iOS6.0.1 and iTunes 11 lost contacts and calendar

I installed iTunes 11 and everything looked just fine. However, after the first sync of the iPhone, all my contacts and calendar were erased from the iPhone. It is still just fine in Outlook. I clicked the boxes on the Info Screen to load all data for Calendar and Contacts from this computer during next sync. Two weeks ago, I upgraded from Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 to Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013. However, all syncs after that upgrade worked just fine. I only lost the data after upgrading from iTunes 10.7 to iTunes 11.0.
    Simply thrilling.

Disregard... new iTunes 11.0 placed all my contacts and calendars in the Cloud. When I turned on Contacts and Calendar in Cloud, they all loaded back on my phone. Urgh.

  • Lost contacts and calendar, possibly MobileMe related

My wife just lost all contacts and calendar from her iPhone 4. She had been bothered by repeated requests by the phone for her MobileMe password. As far as she knew, she was not a MobileMe user, so our son disabled the MobileMe account on the phone. After this, the contacts and calendar were gone. She has tried online and phone help, as well as a visit to an Apple Store, with no luck. Is it possible that her data still exist and can be recovered?

She obviously has a MobileMe account or there would be no MobileMe account to disable on her iPhone. And if her contacts are now gone, this means she was syncing contacts over the air on her iPhone with her MobileMe online address book. When turning contacts off for over the air syncing on the iPhone and when deleting or disabling the account on the iPhone, contacts synced over the air go with it or are removed from the iPhone.
Her contacts should be available with her MobileMe online address book unless she signed up for a MobileMe trial account for 60 days and didn't purchase the account allowing it to expire.
Regardless, her contacts should be available on her computer as well. If the contacts are available in an address book app that is supported for syncing contacts with the iPhone, she can sync contacts direct with the supported address book app on her computer via the iTunes sync process.

Vista + Outlook 2007 + Icloud : Lost all contacts and calendar in outlook when installing/Synchronizing iCloud. Both still available on iphone and iCloud.
How to get them back in Outlook? Understand iCloud erased them and transferred them in an other outlook account. In Outlook 2007, I can see a folder called "iCloud" but get an error message ("The set of folders cannot be opened...") when clicking on it. I suspect all is there, but no access possible. I assume some Outlook settings are uncorrect, but wonder which settings...?

Well. Working just fine now, since uninstalling and re-installing icloud and syncing.

  • Recover lost contacts and calendar from iPad

    Hi All.
My dad has an iPad 1 which he uses for work, in particular the contacts and calendar. Earlier this week he said he switched it on and it was as if the iPad had lost all its settings. There was no WiFi to home router and all his contacts and calendar were missing. He re-setup the WiFi but cannot get his missing contacts and calendar back. He had made some major changes and additions since his last sync with the pc and Outlook so a re-sync will not be good enough. Looking around online, others have had the same problem and some people say that the data is still there. There is also mention of a programme called Dr Fone which apparantly scan the iPad and can recover this data. Has anyone tried this or can anyone suggest another way of getting this data back? Its really important.
    Thanks
    Dean

  • Lost contacts and calendar when restoring palm profile on replacement Pre

After nearly 90 days from launch date, and totally loving my Pre, I took it into the Sprint store to show them what looks like screen separation inside the screen.  Sprint deemed it reasonable to replace the phone, and gave me a refurbished Pre.  Not keen on that, but as long as it is the same warranty, I guess that is OK.  All is well with my new Pre with one huge exception.  While I had backed up pictures and music to my computer, I was relying on the "cloud" to back up contacts and calendar.  Bad assumption.  After I signed into my Palm profile with the new Pre, I got my apps back, but no contacts or calendar.  After hours on the phone with multiple Sprint and Palm support people and several partial resets, I am now on a list to get a call-back from a Palm engineer.  The kicker is that it could be up to two weeks before I get my call-back, and I am guessing if I miss that call, I'll have to wait another two weeks.  I live and die by the calendar I kept on my Pre, so I am fried now.  This is low class and low quality customer support.  Anyone with a similar experience?  Similar problem?  Suggestions on approaches to take to get Palm's attention to get this fixed?  Thanks.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I too found out the hard way that not all contacts get backed up to your Palm Profile.  When I purchased my first palm pre back in June, I imported all of my contacts using pocketmirror.  I assumed that since they're now on the pre, they'd be automagically backed up to my Palm Profile.  Not true!  I recieved a replacement palm pre after my first one started developing small cracks on the edge of the screen plastic.  BTW, these cracks were not due to abuse, but apparently cheap material.  Additionally, the refurbished pre they sent me has a bad "oreo" effect and is very sloppy, but that's a story for another time (hint: google "palm pre oreo").  After activating the refurbished pre, I found that none of my important contacts were pulled down from my Palm Profile.  At this point I contacted sprint support and spent over 5 hours of tech support hell being transferred between sprint and palm multiple times.  I was so far beyond frustration and fury, I was ready to physically assault someone...  After these 5 hours, I was no closer to salvaging my contacts from my old palm pre.  Sprint reactivated the old one, but every time it booted up it would only give me two options; to "Just restart" or "Erase all data."  Pressing "Just restart" would reboot the phone and 3 minutes later would show the exact same screen with the same useless options.  Obviously, erasing all data was not what I wanted to accomplish.  Ultimately, Palm support told me there was no way to recover anything off the old phone and argued with me telling me that the contacts I wanted were not stored physically inside the flash memory in the old phone.  This was purely incorrect as I was finally able to hack a way into my old pre and move the contacts that only existed in the contacts application (not my Palm Profile) over to my replacement pre (this involved some linux skills and completely unsupported procedures, but it worked).  It was obvious that the Palm support tech was either ill informed or ill equipped to assist me in any way.
For anyone that may end up in the same position, I had to bypass the broken activation screen that I was stuck at on my old pre using details here:
    http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Patch_webOS_Bypassing_Activation
I was then able to gain access to the filesystem itself and copy everything out of /var (the really important file is PalmDatabase.db3 which holds all of your contacts, calendar, synergy links, IM/SMS threads, etc.):
    http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Important_Personal_Data_Locations
At any rate, I hope this helps someone who ends up in a similar situation.  The solution is far from elegant, but provided you have or know someone who has some linux experience, it's possible to migrate almost everything from one pre to another.  As for me, I'm THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED with the hardware quality of the pre and the lack of options available to backup/migrate data on a pre (the Palm Profile cloud has failed me here).  I may soon drop this headache and follow the rest of my linux friends by moving to an android device.

  • Lost contacts and calendar events

When I synced my IPhone with ITunes most recently, all but about 6 of my phone contacts, and about a third of my events on my calendar, disappeared. How can I get them back? The only restore option I can see through ITunes is for the date of the sync that created the problem. Help!

I should mention that i have NOT upgraded to iOS 5 on the 3GS and don't want to.  Therefore, no iCloud on the phone.

  • Iphone 4.0 lost contacts and calendar when synching

Hi. I did my usual synch with my iphone 4.0 and itunes via USB last night and hey presto all my contacts and my calendar have disappeared from my iphone. My itunes is set up to synch with my outlook account and has been happily doing the same thing for months but not last night Added to which all the contacts that were on my iphone that i'd added manually, and all the updates to calendar I'd added manually to my iphone have been wiped off. I now cant' see anything on the SIM card for contacts or calendar.
    Any thoughts/help.
I am pretty lost without this and have no idea what happened or how to resolve it.
    Thanks.

  • Lost contact and calendar info after installing 2.0

I installed the 2.0 update, and I lost all of my contact info and my calendar info. Since I primarily use the iPhone, it was not synced to my Powerbook.
Is there any way to restore this info (something I may have missed when entering it all manually), and how do I prevent this from happening again (outside of never installing an update)
    Thanks for your help,
    Ruth

In 1.4.1 :) check the Preferences | Import and uncheck the check box "Show import dialog when a memory card is detected"
Check the same box in 2.0, if that is what you want to do.

I did a software upgrade to IOS6 and my Iphone4S is now unable to update. Do I lose all my contacts and calendar entries when I restore?

You should be syncing all your contacts and calendars with your computer, either via iCloud or iTunes, so it is easy to re-sync them back to the phone after you restore.

I've lost the contacts and calendar events (& email) from my 3GS after setting up iCloud with iPad3 and PC Outlook.  Any solutions?
I tried to re-synch it with the PC iTunes, but no luck, even when re-checking the boxes for Outlook...

  • Since upgrading to maverick I have had problems syncing contacts and calendar between devices

After recent apple support ref:532791559 my macpro will exchange these items between icloud and macpro but now I find I cannot exchange data between my iphone (IOS7) and ipad (IOS7)
In above apple support created new accounts etc to arrange connection but now I have lost the other two items. All three were working perfectly with icloud before updating. Sorry Apple but this is a blunder!!!

    Hi,
Thank you for taking an interest in my problem.
What actually transpired was my Macpro (contacts) would not update after I put changes in to contacts in either iphone or ipad. Apple checked and discovered that changes made in either macPro (contacts) and contacts(cloud.com) did not talk to each other so concentrated on this.
The rep had me signout of my macpro user account, and create a temp new user to which I signed into my icloud account as normal. Then, changes in either macpro or cloud.com now worked. He then did some changes at his end and after exiting the temp user and resigning in as origal macpro user this now made changes to each other. OK. We then deleted the temp user and this worked! but since then I have discovered that iphone and ipad now do not change icloud.com contacts or calendar so would not of course change contacts on macpro!
Other services on icloud (photo stream, mail, docs and data, find my ----, etc) all function with my iphone (so have to presume my ipad also, but this is not with me at this time)  so the problem is confined to just contacts and calendar.
In summary, I do have only one icloud address but which appears to have two sets of data as the devices will communicate with something but not altogether!!
I am thoroughly confused, especially as it was all fine until I upgraded from M\Lion to Mavericks on my shiny new macpro a few weeks ago. I  had moved from Windows to Apple to avoid just such problems.
Not enamoured with Apple at the moment, but thank you for your assistance - hope this is a better explanation.
    Kind Regards

  • IOS6 on iPhone 4s deleted contacts and calendar dates

I updated iOS6 on my iPhone 4s and it deleted all my contacts and calendar dates.
    I have a 2008 Macbook Pro running 10.5.8 Leopard and iTunes 10.6
I plugged in my phone after realizing all my contacts and dates were deleted. iTunes popped up and said that my iPhone was not compatible with it and I needed to download iTunes 10.6.3 or later.
Since I am running 10.5.8 Leopard, I can't download iTunes 10.7 (which I think is the only thing I can download currently off of Apple).
Does anyone have a solution for me on how to get my contacts and dates back?
    Thanks!

Any update or response from an Apple employee/technician for this problem?
I too have had everything wiped off my phone when updating to iOS 6.  Never had this problem before and was not clearly informed that the phone may get wiped (sure, there was an essay to read but, like most people, just clicked confirm).  Every other update I've had has gone smoothly without a problem so presumed this would be the same.
Why was there not a clear warning stated before going ahead with the upgrade that your phone may get wiped and you will need to back it up just incase?
    Not a happy customer!
NB was able to get my contacts back only via iCloud.

  • After iOS 8 upgrade, contacts and calendar strangely syncing

After upgrading my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 (and just recently 8.0.2, which I hoped would fix it, but didn't), I'm seeing strange sync behaviour with Google contacts and calendar. Here is what is happening:
    Calendar
Creating an event on the phone shows up on Google. However, I cannot edit it like I used to be able to.
Creating an event on Google does not show up on the phone.
    Contacts
Creating a contact on the phone does not show up on Google.
Creating a contact on Google shows up on the phone. Editing this contact changes it on Google too.  (this seems really strange to me).
    This is driving me nuts!

I have similar behavior. Contact sync with google works fine, not calendar though.
I connect to Google using Exchange protocol. Have worked excellent before, but after 8.0.2 (I suspect) calendar is only partly synchronized.
Not all events gets synced from Google calendar.
I used a workaround and connected to the calendar using CalDav, which is not nearly as good as exchange protocol
