IOS7.1 problem switching between iMessage and "send as text" in group thread

Hi I got a 5c a couple days ago, and updated to 7.1 yesterday so not sure which is causing the problem.
I restored my new phone from a backup off my old iPhone 4 and all is working well except this issue.
I have a group thread of 6 friends, who all have iPhones. We have one message thread that has been going on for 18 months or so, all in iMessage. When I first got this new 5c updated with 7.1 and restored from the backup on Sunday, I was sending iMessages normally like I always have.
Today, iMessage stopped working, so I used the option to "send as text message" that comes up when an iMessage fails. But then all my messages on this group thread were going through in green, instead of blue.
Here are the fixes I've tried:
- I followed older forum suggestions to turn off iMessage, reset network settings, and then reboot my phone. This fixed my iMessage problem within other message threads (with single or group recipients), but all my outgoing texts on this particular group thread are still going through in green. My outgoing messages in other threads are now going through in blue.
- I actually iMessage mostly from my computer, so I tried sending an iMessage to the group thread from my Air to "jolt" the thread on the phone back into blue. The message from the computer showed up in blue when it came through on my phone, but did not "jolt" the phone back into sending iMessages. They still send in green.
- one of my friends on the thread sent me a reply, and it came through as a text message although on her end it shows up in blue. this also did not "jolt" the phone back into sending iMessages.
- I also tried sending a FaceTime request to one of the friends on the group thread, in case that might "jolt" the phone back into iMessage. It didn't work. Boo.
So: is there a manual, thread-specific option for turning iMessage back on? It is working just fine in all other threads, single-recipient or group. It's only this one thread, where I used "send as text message" -- and that was before I did the network settings reset -- where this is a problem.
Please don't suggest that I delete the thread! It is valuable friendship history.

iMessage will autmoatically turn on if the other person is using ios5 and you have a internet connection when these are not available the message would be sent as normal so it must be a problem with ytour network try settings > general > reset > network

IPod Touch 5g problems switching between Mavericks and Mountain Lion.

My iPod Touch 5G is set up to sync (manually) with my Mountain Lion iMac. If I connect the iPod to my MacBook Air running Mavericks, it works fine. However, if I then connect the iPod to my iMac, iTunes re-syncs all 9,000 songs - taking hours! This can't be right. Is there any way to fix this? I've tried restoring it and copying all my music back to the iPod, but it still happens. I need to connect it to both Macs, without this annoying issue. HELP!

You can only sync music and videos among different iTunes libraries/computer using the manual method of syncing. Otherwise when y switch libraries/computer, the media on the iPod will be replaced with the media in the iTunes library of the second computer.

I understand the difference between imessage and SMS but when I text a friend who always got iMessages in the past, everything I send her is SMS (green) even if we both have wifi. She has an iphone.

Because some kind of error occured. This is only from her iPhone to your iPhone? Whenever she sends a message to any other iPhone, it is sent as blue? And when anyone else sends you a message from an iPhone, it sends as blue?

Can't switch between fill and outline.

Here's the problem: I'm on an iMac, new, trying to use illustrator CS5. after using CS3 for a few years. In CS5, if I draw a shape, flat, in the illustration, then try to give it an outline, or change the outline, or do anything with the outline, I can't. If I click on the Shape tools in the toolbox and draw out an oval, for example, I can switch between outline and fill without any problems. Select shape, go to toolbox, select curved arrow for switching from one to the other. That's it. But if I draw a freehand shape, then try it, i can't do it. THIS IS A BIG CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THE APP. GET IT? What is the problem? If it's something I have done, fine, tell me and I'll fix it. I tried calling Adobe support in Bangalore, and it took 30 minutes just to get the problem thoroughly appreciated by the techies. They just couldn't get the idea for half an hour! I had to go over it 4 or 5 times. And they couldn't come up with an answer. they were no help at all. I'm hoping the forum will yield better results. This is pathetic, guys. Your 90-day tech support is a worthless piece of crap, guys. The only tech support we have is this catch-as-catch-can forum. I had later abandoned the gradient mesh by using the option key to delete mesh lines, but that didn't take the shape all the way back to its original flat state. So it wasn't a plain drawn shape any more. So how do I release the gradient mesh to get back to a flat shape? I'm also having trouble keeping the shapes in RGB or CMYK mode-they keep defaulting back to greyscale. Could that also be a symptom of using gradient mesh? Note: I'm using gradient mesh for the very first time now; I've never used it before. It seems to leave a lot of unexpected baggage behind. I would send a screen shot, but if I start up Grab or Voila, all the AI pallets go away, and that's half the information. So how do I control gradient mesh?

Unable to switch between txt and Facebook

After the 8.1 update I can't switch between txt and Facebook anymore. Not sure if its something I'm doing wrong but I used to have a button in each contact that allowed me to txt them or send it to their Facebook inbox. I no longer have that button, yet I have group set to on. Does anyone know if this was removed with the new update or I'm missing something out. Thanks Donna

I would agree that removing the facebook/social media integration is a definite step back. Microsoft reasons that with the new implementation it will be easier for 3rd part developers to fill this gap, I personally think this was a bad design choice and found that this functionality specifically was great and very useful.

Can't switch between HDMI and VGA displays

I have a new H430, with hdmi and vga ports. My HP zr2240w monitor permits switching between AVG and HDMI displays, which I would like to do. But when I plug in both cables (HDMI and VGA) only VGA will work. If I switch to HDMI or make it the default display, the screen freezes at the desktop background: no mouse, no taskbar etc. Is is possible that the D430 video card will not support switching between displays (on a single monitor)

7344 servo motion switching between open and closed loop operation

I have a custom end-of-line test system presently using a 4-axis 7344 servo controller to perform various functional tests on small, brushed DC motors. The system is programmed in C/C++ and uses flex motion functions to control the motor during testing. Motors are coupled to external encoder feedback and third party PWM drives running in closed-loop torque mode from an analog command signal. The system uses all four motion axis channels on the 7344 board to independently and asynchronously test up to four production motors at a time.
In closed-loop mode, the system runs without issue, satisfying the battery of testing protocols executed by this system. I now have a request to add additional test functionality to the system. This testing must be run in open loop mode. Specifically, I need to use my +/- 10v analog output command to my torque drive to send different DAC output levels to the connected motor.drive while monitoring response.
I do not believe the flex motion library or 7344 controller includes functions to easily switch between open and closed loop mode without sending a new drive configuration. I am also under the impression that I cannot reconfigure one (or more) servo controller axis channels without disabling the entire drive. As my system runs each axis channel in an asynchronous manner, any requirement to shutdown all drives each time I change modes is an unworkable solution.
I am open to all ideas that will allow asynchronous operation of my 4 motor testing stations. If the only solution is to add a second 7344 controller and mechanical relays to switch the drive and motor wiring between two separately configured servo channels, so be it. I just want to explore any available avenue before I place a price tag on this new system requirement.

Thank you for the quick response. The 7344 board does an excellent job running my manufacturing motor assemblies through a custom end-of-line tester in closed loop mode. A portion of the performance history and test result couples the motor through a mechanical load and external shaft. The shaft is in contact with a linear encoder that closes my servo loop.
My new manufacturing requirement is to also sample/document how the small DC motor behaves in open loop operation. Your solution is exactly what I need to perform the additional functional tests on the product I am manufacturing. I see no reason why this cannot work. I was originally concerned that I would need to reinitialize the 7344 board after changing axis configuration. Initialization is a global event and impacts all four channels on the 7344 board.
Using flex_config_axis() to change axis configuration on a single channel without disturbing other potentially running axis channels will solve my concern. It will be several weeks before I can return to the manufacturing facility where the 7344-based testing machine is located. I will update this thread once I verify a successful result.

I want to switch between HTTP and HTTPS using JSF.
Under Apache Struts framework I can use struts extension "sslext.jar" to configure switching between http and https in one web application.
e.g. Login-jsp should be secured, all other jsp's should run unsecured.
Any ideas?

I made the necessary enhancement for the second phase, password confirmation required when return to SSL zone after leaving it after a succesful login.
I did the following:
1) create a class in the application scope and/or singleton class with the servlet paths that require SSL
2) create a plugin that reads ActionConfigs from the ModuleConfig
3) create a filter that sets a request scope flag that says that password must re-entered.

The filter adds a RequestDTO object that includes all request parameters, one of them is the secure flag.
I have a session scope class UserContainer that includes all the session parameters, one of them is the lastRequestDTO.(last made request)
At the end of all my jsp's I set the lastRequestDTO variable.
In that method I set the passwordConfirmationRequired flag if needed:

If yes I could add following prefix /account to all my action paths and forward paths and this could resolve my problem.
What's your opinion?
If no, would your library resolve this?
Will all the Struts/JSP/JSTL url generating tags pick-up the required protocol (http/https) according to your configuration file?

Unable to switch between 3g and 4g on my Lucid

After an update a week or so ago, my LG Lucid has completely lost the functionality of switching between 3g and 4g. As 4g is a battery hog I kept it mostly on 3g (but not always) and since the update , I am stuck on 3g. Took it to the Verizon store for a techie to look at it and he was stumped. I used to access thru "settings" - "about phone" - "network" - "network type and strength" , which brought me to some toggles where I could choose the network best suited to what I was doing. Now this screen is gone completely and only shows signal strength. The techie suggested a factory data reset, which would not only erase all my items from my phone, but if it did provide 4g service, I would now be stuck all the time on that. I told the tech guy I would wait for a fix to this. My question is, are there others out there with this problem or is there a fix for it. I contacted LG and they said they have had no updates to the phone. Is Verizon denying the problem or even working on it ?????

I have a related issue with my LG Lucid. It tends to get stuck in 3g in areas that I know are 4g. A phone restart usually takes care of it but it sure is a pain to do that. If that fails then a battery remove/replace fixes it. Neither are good options but worth considering while we wait for an update.
There are several 3g/4g switch free apps available too but none that say they support Lucid. I found that 3G/4G On/Off (Toggle 3G) by JuYeo! Oh works well to turn on 3g when the Lucid doesn't do it but I haven't found a way to turn on 4g.

Switch between speakers and headset on X-

I've got X-Fi Fatalty FPS edition and desperately need to find a way to switch between headset and speakers. Especially since I use teamspeak a lot in games and don't want my speakers to echo while I'm talking.
There is an option to mute speakers when the headphone jack is connected, but that requires me to reconnect the headphone plug each time I want to use them.
There must be a switch to turn only the speakers off manually as well?
With Soundblaster Li've! Digital, this problem was easily solved by switching between digital mode on and off, as my speakers were connected digitally and my headset on analog.
But with X-Fi, there's no way to turn off the digital speakers alone.
Please help.

Plug your speakers into the soundcard as usual.
use the front mounted headphone socket on the fromt of the X-Fi I/O unit to connect your headset and set the control panel to automatically mute your speakers when the headset is connected. Your speakers will mute when the headset is plugged in and all you have to do is plug or unplug the headset at the front to switch modes!...Now please do not ask about doing the same with your mike connector!! see other thread by me!! p.s creative do ship a /4" to 3.5mmm adapter with the card.

Sapmmc - jstart.exe keeps restarting, switching between green and yellow

I installed the SAP core server ( as part of SAP convergent charging) , but jstart.exe and dispatcher-1 process in sapmmc are noticed keep switching between yellow and green. when the jstart.exe turns green (all process running) , dispatcher-1 turns yellow (waiting to start) and when dispatcher-1 turns green (restart-yes) , jstart.exe turns yellow (some processes running). Only for a small duration , they both remain green (may be during transition).

Import the SAP profiles in SAP transaction RZ10: Utilities - Import profiles - of Active Server
OR
Check what messages do you have in jvm_server0.out, dev_server0.out and bootstrap traces,
also have a look at the note 142100.
The first problem is that in the SCS instance there are no running enqueue server as its starting line have no line break at the end in the start profile. Without this NT cannot parse the line. After adding the line break the enqueue server could start.
The second problem is that in the global dispatcher configuration for the LockingManager the en.port was set to 3201 instead of 3200 (which is correct as the SCS instance has the intance number 00).
After correcting these problems the J2EE engine could be started fine.
