Ios7: adding albums to playlists

When making a playlist in Music in former iOS's if you went to your albums button there used to be an "add all" button to add an album and now it's not there so if you want to add two 15 song albums to a playlist that's 30 careful clicks (to get correct album sequence) versus the former 2. I'm just wondering if they'd hid this option with some kind of swipe that I'm missing or if it was just removed.

I'm a big user of this function. The function just dissapear. I reported it 2 times without success as we can see.
Whole new UI (really cool, beautiful), but Apple forgot to implement the useful things behind it. Don't worry, it will be back in iOS 8.
Yeah, today I answer to several question. The answer is always: nope, Apple forgot it. They are aware, but just don't care. Really annoying. iOS 7 has many missing functionalities that I often use. I never wanted to go see somewhere else than today. What really get on my nerves is that I sure that we will have to wait until iOS8.
I really hope that my slightly aggresive answers will make Apple to think about the problem and change their way to make us wait month or even years for some partial bug fix.

I can't seem to add an album to a playlist. The playlist help screen says to select and hold the on the album name but nothing happens, no flash like when you add a song. What am I missing?

  • Adding mp3s for playlist mixes that don't clutter Artist & Album views with single songs?

Sometimes I like to just grab various mp3s on my computer & stick them in a directory for a quick mix, for a drive or get-together or whatnot. Problem is, when I add the directory to iTunes it populates my Album & Artist views with these single songs. When the playlist is 60+ songs (many of which are single tracks not duplicated in existing iTunes albums or artists) the default browsing views get really cluttered & I'm not looking to find these when I'm browsing the general collection - just want them for that particular playlist.
Is there a way to add a directory of mp3s while telling iTunes to ignore sorting them by Album or Artist or displaying them anywhere but the playlist? I've tried "Part of a Compilation" but it doesn't seem to be always effective & at that point I already have to tediously sort through to find all the stragglers. Again, with a large playlist this can take a ton of time.
I'm guessing (hoping) there's a quick fix for this, any suggestions?

No, what you see is what you get... If you want to add a track to an iTunes playlist it gets added to the library proper, and the details show up where appropriate.
If you're not bothered about preserving the original details Album=My Playlist Name, Album Artist=Various Artists, and Part of a Compilation=Yes will minimise the impact, provided you use the options under View > Column Browser to Group Compilations and Use Album Artists

  • Song tracks are not downloaded properly from iTunes Store: they are not added to the playlists, and eat disk space

    Hi,
Yesterday I wanted to upgrade my wife's iPhone (5, 16 GB) from iOS 7.0.6 to iOS 7.1.
She had only 500 MB of free space, and 1.9 GB was needed, so I decided to temporarily remove a number of songs from her music library.
After this operation there was 2 GB free, and the upgrade went successfully.  After the upgrade there was still 2 GB free.
Then I wanted to download the songs again, and here something went wrong:
I went to iTunes Store > More > Purchased > Music, and clicked on "Download all".
When the download process was completed, there was about 500 MB free space, but I noticed that some of the tracks, and even a complete album, were actually not in the playlists; in another album only one of the 30 tracks or so was downloaded.  So I went again into iTunes Store > More > Purchased > Music, and indeed some of the tracks were still marked as "to download", with a little cloud in front of them.
When I tried to click on one of these little clouds to download a given track, the track seemed to be downloaded, but as soon as the download was finished the little cloud reappeared again, and the track wasn't added to the playlists.
I tried to repeat that process a few times, until I noticed that there was now only 90 MB of free space.
I then tried to download one more track that was 10 MB large, and after this there was only 80 MB of free space.
So it seems that the tracks are indeed downloaded (and downloaded again if I click again on the little cloud) in a place where they use disk space without being otherwise accessible.
    What can I do to:
    1. download the tracks correctly so that they appear in the playlists?
    2. clean up the space that was wasted?
    Many thanks in advance!

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those tracks and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • Previously downloaded albums and playlists wont play

Previously downloaded albums and playlists wont play.  The only music that will play are those listed as "Recently Added".  When I attempt to play any other music, I get the error message "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found."  I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes.  Any suggestions?

It is very possible that you have transferred icons only. This is a mistake I know I have made.

  • ITunes, albums and playlists...

Is there anyway to make iPod handle albums better? At present it is much more geared to those that want to just listen to individual track, where I much rather listen to an entire album. One example: recently added albums to your iPod. If you go to the recently added playlist it just shows all of the tracks, I would much rather see a list of the recently added albums. As of now I have to make a playlist for each album as I add them. Which is cumbersome and time consuming, especially when the technology is already there (yes, you can go into the albums list but it's not very efficient when you're trying to find one or two newly added album out of the potential hundreds on the iPod). All of the iPod's settings, playlists, etc are geared this way too. Has Apple ever addressed this? There has to be more than just me out there that appreciates listening to an album in it's entirety rather than some one-hit wonder's tracks.
    TIA,
    Greg

If you are asking if this can be done on the iPod (the title of your post seems to suggest you are asking about iTunes), then the answer is no. A playlist is just a list of songs.
All of the iPod's settings, playlists, etc are geared this way too.
Yes, playlists are "geared" this way but settings? Not sure what you mean by that.
    Has Apple ever addressed this?
Apple has gone some way to address this by adding the capability to use playlist folders on the iPod as you can in iTunes.
The bad news? It's not a facility that the iPod 5th gen is capable of, only newer iPods such as the classic and last 2 gens of nano can display playlist folders created in iTunes.

  • Adding Album Art to iTunes Local Folder?

I have a setup on iTunes on my Dell Dimension Desktop Machine. Basically I have uploaded ALL my CD collection to HDD in WAV format to retain sound quality.
My problem is with getting all the Album Art to work.
About one third of my collection iTunes does not have the Album Art? so I have scanned it all manually and placed an Folder.jpg in each Album/Track Folder.
I appreciate that WAV music files don't have a means of adding extra data to them like MP3 files, therefore, iTunes saves its own downloaded Album Art in a folder called "Download", there is also another Folder called "Local" which is where your manually added Album Art should go?
These are stored as .itc files
However then I try to manually try to add my own album art to the album, by selecting all tracks, Get info, Add album art to the white square and pressing OK nothing happens?
In the Artwork display box it say in large text "Artwork Not Modifiable"? for some reason?
    Any ideas??

Hi Andrew. As far as plug&play, I have not found anything. My best bet was to use a proper utility to grab album art on a go forward basis for all new tracks, and then for the old tracks that have the incorrect metadata, I slowly go through, open up a browser with amazon.com loaded, and then search for the albums/related art that I need. Once I find it I click on the album art in the main browser, which spawns a child window with just the jpeg of the album art in it, and then drag and drop it from that browser into the album art pane. Far from plug and play, but it gets the job done.

I got an iPhone 4 a week ago. I synced my iTunes once and now I want to change what albums and playlists are on my phone. When I try to do this, iTunes threatens to remove all my apps. Of course, Apple's support is no help. I know there has to be a way to add and remove whole albums and playlists like on the music tab on the device, so please don't tell me to uncheck/delete everything from my iTunes that I don't want and re-sync. That is not helpful and not the issue. How do I get around it threatening to remove all my apps?

On the MacBook, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Advanced > Disable remote control

    I have an ipod touch 32gb. Model: MC008BT Version: 5.1.1. 3rd ed.
Recently when clicking play on any song the ipod will shuffle through as many songs as there are in the album or playlist until it reaches the end without playing any songs. It also does not go through each song. For example:
a 62 song playlist. I start on song 16. Immediatly the song will shuffle: 16-26-54-62 and then back to the main screen. Also when the songs are shuffling the play button in the top right corner is on.
Music will play if i start from track one with shuffle turned off and repeat turned on. But then i am limited each time to 1-5 songs.
Ipod has been in excellent working order since this has happened.
any suggestions on how to fix?

  • Photo library: no "recently added" album

I have upgraded my Iphone 4s and Ipad 2 to 8.1 and turned on photo library.
I have also activated it on my PC.
NOTHING is syncing. I don't even have a recently added album on either device.
If I turn off photo library nothing changes. I do not get my photostream back.
The only photos making it across devices is ones I have shared to photostream albums i have created.
    Any ideas?

    Hi chelstedds,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know that it can be confusing when the Photos application changes how it stores your photos. Please read over and use the attached article for information on these changes.
Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8 or later - Apple Support
Where can I find the My Photo Stream album?
In iOS 8.0–iOS 8.0.2 , there's no longer a separate My Photo Stream album. Instead, new photos added to My Photo Stream are in the Recently Added album. My Photo Stream keeps photos stored in iCloud for 30 days, and you can import up to 1000 photos to your devices during that time. The Recently Added album also shows videos from the last 30 days. Videos aren't uploaded to My Photo Stream and won't update across your devices.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Palying albums or playlists

when trying to play album or playlist only plays one song & goes back to list. Any thoughts?

Had already tried the big 5, doesn't do this on all artist but only some. Wondering if they need to be tagged somehow to group together better?
    Thanks for answer

  • Album's playlist in a different order

This is really odd. Have 5gb of music on board - every track is in the same order as they were from the playlists on the Mac - as they were copied over. When I connect up the nano and click on that album, it shows the tracks in the correct order. But when I go to that album on the nano itself, the tracks are in a different order - in fact, their in the order that they appear in the main music library. Why should this be?

Interesting thought. Just to clarify. The playlist shows the correct track order on the ipod when I look at it on iTunes. It also shows the correct track order if I listen to the album from 'playlists' on the ipod. But, the tracks are in a different order if I choose the album from 'artists/albums' instead. The other 99% of my albums are unaffected.
