IOS7 - artist pictures are being pushed despite no connection to the iTunes Store.

I'm a little frustrated with Apple. I got my iPod touch with ios7 about a month ago, filling it up with music only to find all my songs that were downloaded from iTunes had a picture of the artist instead of the album cover under "artists" view. I removed these songs from my library (there weren't many) and went into settings, opting not to sync with iTunes or "show all music".
Unfortunately, today I synced my iPod only to discover 90% of my album covers under "artists" view have been replaced by pictures of the artist! Thing is, none of these music files were bought from iTunes; they were ripped from CDs. I have no idea how iTunes snuck in these artist pictures onto them.
Is there a solution to this? I'm honestly at my wit's end and am considering selling this device.

Perhaps not. But that stills begs the question, how did the track files actually get the artist pictures written into them if they weren't purchased from itunes? I mean, I went into my ipod and turned off all its connections to the itunes store. So it must have something to do with itunes on my computer. The whole thing is a little disconcerting, really.
All in all, this seems to be an extremely bad move by apple... Especially considering you can never have a picture for every single artist (considering how many small-time bands are out there which apple doesn't even know about). They really should remove this feature.

  • I get an error that says can't connect to the itunes store when I search for a specific artist only

    Hi all,
When I try to search for music by a specific artist in the iTunes store on my iPhone 5, I get an error that says "Can't connect to the iTunes store".  This only happens when I search for music by this band.  I can search for other artists and listen to song clips and everything seems to be connecting to the iTunes store just fine.  But for some reason, it doesn't work with this artist.  The band name is July for Kings.  Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but I hope so!
    Thanks,
    Rick

IF you are not able to resolve your issue then contact Apple Support at https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.do?caller=ikb&PRKEYS=PL220,1316 29,PL113,PL302,PF3,PF4,PF9,PL303,PL339,p…
hopefully they can help. You may also be interested to know that for some reason it is just not available to a lot of people at the same time. Appears to be an issue of more users than their servers can handle. Has happened periodically for at least 6 months that I know of but apparently users are able to use within several days if there are no other issues with the users device.

I am having similar issues except that the store starts to load, then stops, then I only get iTunes Store in gray letters on a white screen. I can access playlist and the other stuff. Like flamesgirl, I contacted them and they just keep sending me links of stuff to try which I had already seen on the Apple website and nothing works. I posted the question on another forum I belong to and one responder said her husband was in an Apple store and asked about this problem as he was having the same issue. They said an update would be coming out soon as they were aware of the problem. Who knows.

  • TS1389 I am trying to authorise a new computer. The Apple instructions are to select Authorise this computer from the itunes store menu. I can't find this in any menu. Can you please help? How do I authorise my computer?

I am trying to authorise a new computer. Apple's instructions are to select "Authorise this computer" from the itunes store menu. I can't find this in any menu. Can you please help? How do I authorise my computer?

    Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • TS1368 I can't connect to the iTunes store with my Apple TV. I can see what movies are on offer but when trying to access my account i am advised "Can't connect to server" (times out).

I can't connect to the iTunes store with my Apple TV. I can see what movies are on offer but when trying to access my account i am advised "Can't connect to server" (times out).

I have the same problem with my 3rd gen Apple TV. I can preview iTunes movies, stream from my Mac, Airplay from my other devices but I cannot rent a movie on iTunes. Every time I try I get "Can't connect to ITunes" and "Unable to sign in". Had technical support review the problem over the phone and they agreed to send me a new one. Same problem. Interestingly enough my 2nd gen Apple TV works just fine.

  • Cannot connect to the iTunes store. Get 'Error 11222'. Claims it is being blocked by Windows Firewall when it is allowed through.

When an external application tries to connect to it through iTunes I get 'Error: 11222'. When I try to connect through the iTunes app it just continuously loads but nothing appears. Diagnostics says that Windows Firewall (Which is being managed by McAfee) is blocking it, even though it is allowed through both firewalls I have. Even when I turn WF off iTunes claims it is being blocked by it. I have done almost everything Apple's support pages have suggested but nothing has worked. I'm using it on an Acer Aspire laptop, and the main PC can use iTunes without trouble so it isn't the ISP. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice. Here is a full diagnostics:

The 11222 errors can sometimes be produced by LSP trouble. One of the suspects with that is some versions of McAfee Family Protection. For troubleshooting advice, see the following document:

  • HT4137 I have just bought an iPad3. I have connected it to my computer. It has synched  but many of the apps I have on my iPad 1 are not appearing despite showing installed in the app store. How do I restore them?

I have just bought a new iPad. I have connected it to my powerbool and snched it but many of the apps on my iPad1 are not appearing on the new iPad and showing installed in the app store. Please can anyone help me with this?

Thanks for your advice, I went to the apple shop today for a face to face meeting with a tech and he checked everything and could not figure out why I was having this problem so we decided to give up on that account and create a whole new one for me using a different email address.
Now I can download apps on both my iPhone and ipad2.
If anyone is reading this in Brisbane Australia go to the Chermside apple shop and ask for Wade. He was fantastic!

  • Suddenly being asked to log in to the Itunes store when using an app

When I turned on my IPad this morning I found that when I opened an app the "Sign in to ITunes Store" request came up. This seems to happen with all of the non-native apps I have on my device. It does not affect any of the native IPad apps (Safari, Calender, Camera, FaceTime etc.) I am reluctant to type in my password given the fact that this happened suddenly (the device was working normally yesterday) and only affects the non-native apps. I have not downloaded any new apps. I upgraded to IOS 8.3 several weeks ago without any ill effects. I have an IPad mini 2. Has this happened to anyone else.

Were the apps on your iPad purchased with the same Apple ID you are currently logged in with?
Try logging out of the App Store then logging back in.
Settings->iTunes & App Store-> tap your Apple ID & sign out.  Sign back in & see if that resolves the issue.
Also check for any pending downloads (stuck apps in waiting)/purchased music....this has also been known to cause odd login request behaviour.
    Hope this helps!

  • TS3297 I have an iPhone 4S - software up to date, operating under IOS7 -- all is well except suddenly I am not able to connect to the iTunes store. Tap the icon and immediately it returns to the home screen

I have an iPhone 4S - software up to date on all counts, operating under IOS7.  I cannot open iTunes store.  Tap on the icon and it immediately flashes
back to its home screen.   I have  no problem on my iMac or my iPad 4 -- just the iPhone 4S.

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

  • TS1702 My snapchat says that I need to connect to the Itunes store to send push notifications. How do I do that?

    Thanks!

You need a French store account to use a card from France.  The cards are country-specific and cannot be used in another country.
If you qualify for an account, that is, have a credit card issued in that country and a physical mailing address there, you can switch to the French store from Settings > iTunes and App Stores > Apple ID > View Apple ID > enter your password > Country/Region to change stores.
Or you contact call the support staff for the stores at: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html and see if they can help out.

I have Windows 7 and after going through several suggestions, the one that worked for me was this:
A Dell service representative removed an expired version of McAfee and a half *** version of Norton Antivirus (problem #1: I should only have one functioning virusware up, not two or more)...I then purchased a reliable Antivirus + Cleaner from the Dell rep and he installed it.
The Dell rep then noticed that when he checked my computer properties, I had the following:
    Windows 7 Home Premium
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation.  All rights reserved.
Service Pack 1 <I WAS MISSING THIS PARTICULAR ITEM; THE DELL REP ADDED THIS>
Once the Dell rep did this, I was able to access my iTunes Store and get things updated from 10.5 to 10.6....It took 2 hours, but glad it got done.
