IOS7 Audiobooks jumping back to a previous session - POSSIBLE fix

In my quest to make the chapter and jumping problems known to Apple in as many ways as possible I called Apple for support. Re: the jumping back problem in iOS7, I was told to go to Reset settings (Preferences/General/Reset/Reset All Settings). I have not NOTICED the jumping back problem since that time. Perhaps this is a fix.....

This worked for me too!

  • Is there anyway to go back to a previous session when using session restore?

tonight when I restarted Firefox after it crashed, I got a message to update an java add-on which I did and when I reopened Firefox the previous session was gone.
is there a way to go back to the previous session or has it been lost, seeing that Firefox closed and reopen??
    thanks

You can try to check the Firefox Profile Folder to see if there is a sessionstore-##.js with a number in it from around that time.
In that case you can try to copy or rename that file to sessionstore.js (keep a backup) to see if that brings back that session.

  • Trying to jump back to a previous slide if a question is missed

This is just the first of many questions I'm gonig to have, but the one that's bugging me the most right now.
I'm running Captivate 6 (32 bit) and I am trying to have a sort of review section after each portion of my training video.  What I want is for the person answering the questions in the review section to have three chances to answer the question.  If they get it wrong 4 times, I want the project to jump back to the slide the information they didn't retain was on.  I would also like to make it to where, on second viewing of this slide, they can return to the quiz question.  I'm assuming this would require making a new, hidden slide?
Thank you anyone for your help.  I'm going on a five day vacation in about 15 minutes, so I may not check on this right away, but please know that finally getting this to work is going to absolutely make what is sure to be a miserable Monday .  Happy holidays for those in the states!

    Hi ,
What I can understand that you have following project model.
    Content Slide section A
    Content Slide section A
    Content Slide section A
    Content Slide section B
    Content Slide section B
    Content Slide section C
    Content Slide section C
    Quiz Section A - 3 attempts
    Quiz Section B - 3 attempts
    Quiz Section c- 3 attempts
on first time  you want normal flow mentioned above and if suppose user has failed quiz section A , he/she should go to Content section A and then directly jump to quiz section A rather than going to other section.
To achieve this define a user variable a, assign default value =0, now on the last content slide of particular section you have to set on exit action -> execute conditional advance action
if a=0 then continue else 'Return to Quiz'
now on quiz section A you have to set success failure actions:
    Success -> Assisn a = 0;
Failure-> Execute advance action ( Assign a=1 and Jump to respective content slide.)
Please let me know if this helps.

    Avinash

  • How can I restore previous session while fixing Bookmarks and History will not be functional...error?

I was working with two windows and 8-10 tabs in each window when my Firefox became unresponsive, and I received a string of JavaScript error prompts when I attempted any activity in the browser (such as scrolling). After about an hour of being unable to interact with Firefox at all, I Force Quit (on a Mac) the application.
When I opened Firefox again, it was taking a very long time to boot, and the process was locking up my computer, but eventually, I did receive a Restore Previous Session option. I tried restoring, but one tab in each window would stick and fail to load, causing the browser to freeze up yet again (one of the tabs was a Google search result page, which is completely benign). I had to Force Quit *again* and then a couple more times as I kept encountering the same issue.
Finally, I decided to restart my computer. I ran into the same problem. Then, I restarted again. Once more, the same problem. I actually tried restoring my session maybe 20 times before I ended up with the error: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-bookmarks-and-history-will-not-be-functional?esab=a&as=aaq
I've followed step 1, which didn't work. I haven't proceeded to step 2, because I know I will definitely lose my previous session along with all recent history. I *need* to bookmark at least two of the tabs as they are of critical importance--one of which is a special URL that I cannot recover by any means.
Before I continue to step 2, is there any way that I can grab the URLs that were in my previous session and stash them somewhere to manually restore after fixing the error?
By the way, the crashing started when I tried to visit mail.google.com--typing that address in a new tab started the JavaScript errors when things had been running smoothly. I actually closed out several tabs when attempting to reopen my session, just trying to get things up and running again (and Save All Tabs) before I ran into the database error. I never got the opportunity to save my tabs.
I'm running Mac OS X Lion. Help?

Follow-up: I'm worried about performing any actions without input, because I don't want to back myself into a corner.
Will resetting Firefox fix the problem (instead of creating a new places database)? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems
According to this article, a reset will keep browsing history, which should allow me to access my lost tabs IF it will also fix my database problem.

  • Internet jumps back to previous screen without warning

    Hi,
Within the last week I've noticed my internet is jumping back to the previous screen without warning. I will be on firefox looking at one screen and then all the sudden I am looking at the previous screen. It does it maybe every 10 minutes. I have a MacBook Pro that I only just got December 2011. Does anyone have a clue what's wrong?
    Thanks!

Are you using the TrackPad or a Mouse? If TrackPad there is a gesture feature, Swipe left/right with 2 fingers, that causes you to go Back or Forward in most web browsers. Make sure that is not what is happening. I do it myself sometime just be accident. Annoying, yes.

  • I am unable to restore my previous session after an update to the latest Firefox version.

I was alerted of my available update so I let the update run, came back to the Firefox home page and saw the "Restore previous session" button. I clicked on it and it started to download my update all over again. I tried this again as I thought maybe I had hit a wrong button but it continued to keep re-loading Firefox. I went under history to attempt to restore previous session from there but the option is not available. I had a lot of tabs saved, is there anyway I can restore and get them back?

Restore Previous Session should be an option available under the History options:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox%20does%20not%20ask%20to%20save%20tabs%20and%20windows%20on%20exit?s=restore+switch&r=0&e=es&as=s
If that only restores your last (update) session, you might be out of luck.
Since I'm constantly browsing a PLETHORA of tabs, and don't like to re-bookmark all of them, AND still have them persist a FF restart, I use Session Manager:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/
It also has a "backup" feature, which backs up your current session every "x" minutes.
    Hope this helps/prevents future losses.

  • Always jumps back to special characters like ü,ö,ß

    hello,
so i have been having problems with my macbook pro recently. it has a US keyboard but i write a lot in german so i have to use special characters like ä,ü,ö,ß which normally is not a problem, because i can just stay longer on the a,u,o,s keys and it works perfectly. however, recently when i was typing one of the special characters a lot of the time it jumped back to the previous one i had typed a couple of words back.
this is really really annoying and i do not know what i can do about it or what i am doing wrong.
it would be awesome if somebody knows a way how to fix this problem.
    thank you for your help!

    Hi,
    Unicode or Non-Unincode System ?
    Displayed where ? SAPGUI ? Print Preview ? Spool-Display ?
And how is the XML file written ?  OPEN DATASET ? BAPI ?
At all of these stages it might be either that it is only a display system, like the selected display CHARSET in SAPGUI, when it is a non-unicode system, or simply not coded correctly like OPEN DATASET without specifying the cdepage when necessary.
And it might even be, that even "displaying" the XML File is simply done with the incorrect codepage while the data inside the file is correct.
If you are on Windows, you might even face funny results when saving a simple textfile from notepad with ANSI/DOS and both Unicode variants and then go to CMD.EXE ans simply "type" the content.
All 4 results will be different, allthough notepad will display the same stuff.
So first of all, makes sure which codepage is relevant at all stages from DB-table to "display"
    - DB-Charset
    - SAP system type (unicode/non-unicode)
    - SAP codepage (1100 / 410x )
    - crosscheck the test from report RSCPINST
    - Codepage on Windows running SAPGUI
    - Selected codpage for Sapgui
    Good hunting

  • [iOS][Radio] ability to go back to a previously played radio track

The radio function is great, however it might be even better if we could jump back to a previously played radio track so we can add it to a playlist or even simply "like" it.   Currently you need to do either of these while the track is playing, which makes it a bit of a challenge to try and lose yourself in the music.  Many times the track has finished and I've thought, "that was great - I'll add it to a playlist", only to realise the app on the phone won't let me go back to it.   Thanks

  • IPOD Touch 3g 64G, applications jumping back to home page and random scroll

    Hi, I hope someone can help;
    I have recently purchased a 3G 64GB Ipod touch, I have purchased several applications for it over the last few weeks, as well as upgrading it to the latest version and ensuring I have the latest ITunes. My ipod has work fine up to the last couple of days and now I get the following symptoms;
    1. At random times in any app it will jump back to the home screen.
    2. Whilst scrolling around the home screen it will "jump" back to the previous screen or keep scrolling left until it reaches the search screen.
    I have tried the following;
    1. A full reset from the ipods menu
    2. A full restore from ITunes
    3. A hard reset (hold down power and center button until eventually logo apears
    4. Removing all apps
    5. Power off (using red slider) and back on again
    6. Removing all apps and only installing those that were workind a week ago
    7. Deauthorising my PC and then reauthorising followed by a full restore and resync.
    7. Throwing it at the wall and flushing it down the toilet (not really but I am getting that way :S )
Any one have anything else I can try please?
    Thanks in advance

Roaminggnome, I did think of this but I can't seem to make it happen in any way physical (gentle tapping around the button, slight pressure etc etc). Also I have now cleared everything with no apps on I can not make the fault happen any more this time around ???? I then loaded one app again no problems, I am currently doing one app at a time to see if/when it starts again is linked to one app

  • Re-Tweeting in Twitter makes Feed jump back several tweets back or to beginning of feed.

After opening eight links from my Twitter Feed, Firefox jumps back towards the previous 10-15+ Tweets that I previously viewed, I am using nightly (21.01A 2013-01-30) and in previous revisions it was much worse, like in 17.01 it would refresh the Twitter Feed
This Behavior does not occur in any other "Major" Browser for Linux, but this is not specifically Platform "agnostic" as it happens on ubuntu, arch, opensuse ,Gentoo, even the more "Enterprise" oriented distro's such as FreeBSD and RHEL
As I have them on all different machines, using the above mentioned OS'es
Also, to add I see that I am getting(as another certain poster in this forum) the dreaded "your Twitter account is not allowed to perform this action" in Firefox, but it only seems to be for certain Random Retweets I attempt...

    You are using Firefox Nightly, we don't have much people that specialize in it. You can try clearing cache and cookies and resetting Firefox but if that does not work I would suggest reporting a bug. Here are the steps;
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Typing cursor jumps back to original position after clicking elsewhere

    Hello!
My Macbook Air, since Day 1, has had the annoying issue described in the post subject. I'll be working on a document in iWork, (although this behavior pops up in every application) and I'll fix a typo or something in the body of the text. I'll then click back to the end of the document to continue typing. Then, when I start typing, the cursor jumps back to the typo that I fixed, with all my typing going in the wrong place. It happens a lot and it's maddening. I'm past my 90 days for phone support, so I'm hoping somebody here has run into the same issue.
And speaking of the 90 day issue... If I'm covered for a year, but can't talk to anyone for months 4-12, how on earth would I set up a warranty repair? Note, I'm nowhere near an apple store.

And speaking of the 90 day issue... If I'm covered for a year, but can't talk to anyone for months 4-12, how on earth would I set up a warranty repair? Note, I'm nowhere near an apple store.
You can always take your computer to a AASP, to locate one near you navigate to:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
You can do an SMC reset to see if that helps. Also if you purchase AppleCare this will extend the warranty and telephone support to 3 years from the original date of purchase. I would recommend you look into it. You can buy AppleCare directly from Apple or if you do some shopping you can save by buying from Apple resellers like Amazon or LA Computer Company.
    _SMC RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    • On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    _PRAM RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

  • Unable to get my tabs back after power outage and "restore previous session" doesn't show up.

Well, I've spent most of my day trying to figure out how to fix this. My power unexpectedly went out overnight and I left my computer on. When I woke up, i saw that the computer was off. So I started my computer, but when I went to get onto Firefox, none of my windows and tabs were there. (and I did have a ton of tabs open.) There wasn't even a "Restore Previous Session" icon to press on the Firefox homepage or a "Well, this is embarrassing" window. I tried opening "sessionstore.js" and "sessionstore.bak", but then a window came up titled "Windows Script Host" and said "Microsoft JScript Compilation Error." Then all there is to do is press "Ok". (By the way, at another time today when I tried opening a .js file, it said "Windows can't open this file" and it wanted me to choose the program I wanted to use to open the file, or use the internet to find a program. I chose Notepad, but then it was just a bunch of letters, words and symbols.)
I've also tried entering "about:sessionrestore" to get my windows and tabs back and then it says "Well, this is embarrassing." and "Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs." And there are no windows and tabs showing up below that sentence, with check marks, like it is when session restore has worked for me in the past. The only thing that worries me is that I did restart my computer between when I first started it this morning and now, when I'm writing this. I wanted to see if the "Restore Previous Session" icon would bring up my missing windows and tabs from before. But all it brought up automatically were the current windows and tabs that I have open right now. So now I'm wondering if I've permanently lost those tons of tabs that I had open before the power went out.
The other thing is that when I first got onto Firefox today, I could see all of my history from the days, weeks, and months past. Now I can only see today's history. I know I pressed something when I was trying to fix things but I don't remember what I pressed. Maybe that changed whether or not I could see the previous months' history. I did try "places.sqlite", "places.sqlite-shm" and "places.sqlite-wal" to restore my history, but again it said "Windows can't open this file" and it wanted me to choose a program to open the file. So again I chose Notepad, and it was just a bunch of letters, numbers, and symbols.
Hopefully someone may have an answer for me. Thanks!

Yes I can understand you being confused there is an awful lot of information you need to take in and learn as you encounter such a situation. I will try to expand my explanation to cover the points you ask.
''right click the file and select "restore previous versions", right?''
That is correct when using Windows to try to recover for instance files where the working fie is corrupted, but a previous version worked
If you have no previous versions available from Windows you need to work on whatever you do have. With any file restore operation it is always a good idea to make copies of not only the originals but also the restored files.
If you restored the ''places.sqlite'' with Windows that could possibly have resulted in a copy overwriting your working file that is even worse than the original file.
When you restore a file using the Windows OS it restores the files in their ordinary working location and they should function as expected without needing to do anything else. Generally it is probably best to try such restores when the files are not in use and in this instance that means when Firefox is closed.
For the benefit of any other readers of this thread note : <br />The places.sqlite is in the Firefox profile and easiest to find before closing down Firefox as the ''troubleshooting information page'' (''about:support'') may be used to find it.
    * [[Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data#w_how-do-i-find-my-profile]]_how-do-i-find-my-profile
The ''places.sqlite'' database is the only file Firefox itself has with the full ''History'' information in it. The database also contains bookmarks but Firefox should have some other backups of those. If the database is deleted Firefox will restore the database but all it can do is add back bookmarks information from its backups the History is lost.
There is almost no chance of getting the History back unless there is another copy of that database. Either one Windows is able to recreate, or one that was somehow created by another method, that normally being the user deliberately making a manual backup of your profile or places file in advance. Or maybe having in place other backup procedures.
'' am I supposed to double-click the file?''
That is not going to help in these circumstances. There are advanced methods of studying the files but right clicking does not help in this instance.
Open tabs information is stored in the series of files ''sessionstore.*'' It may take rather a lot of messing about to to get any useful information out of whatever files you have. It would normally probably be a lot quicker just going back to the sites concerned, but that is made more difficult if you have overwritten the History database so you may need to try if the tabs were important to you. I can give more details in another post if you need to try that
We could have a lot more luck with your bookmarks. Did you bookmark most of the sites concerned ? If so then at least you have a good chance of finding the sites again.
Have you already got a fairly complete listing of your bookmarks in the Firefox bookmarks library/menu ? If you need to try to get back lost bookmarks that existed in the last few days but not are not present right now make a backup copy
*Of the profile folder called '''''bookmarkbackups''''' ( With its contents ! )
    * ''places.sqlite'' Remember whenever attempting restoring bookmarks always backup the database file ''places.sqlite'' first.

  • What happened to the Bookmark all Tabs/Save and Exit/Open previous session feature in 4.0? If this has been taken out then 4.0 is of no use to me. I'll have to go back to 3.6

In 3.6 when ever I closed the browser with multi tabs open it would give me the option to Save and Exit. Then when I reopened the browser it would give me the option to open the previous session. I could also bookmark all open tabs. All of these features appear to no longer be present in 4.0. If this is the case I will be forced to uninstall and reinstall 3.6.

Bookmark All Tabs - you can get it when you right-click on a tab, or use keyboard shortcut Control+Shift+D.
Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Firefox wont restore my previous session, for the first time, and I need it back!

I use "restore previous session" religiously. Whenever i shut down, whether due to a problem or just normally, "restore previous session" is there and restores all my tabs. Sometimes after a crash, I get the "well, this is embarrassing" but when I click OK on that dialog to try anyway, it always restores.
There have been a few times in the past when, for no apparent reason, "restore previous session" was greyed out when I restarted. My thankful workaround for this has been to open the library folder on my Mac, locate the Firefox folder in Application Support folder, select the "qqfh38jn.default" folder, go into Time Machine and replace that folder. Or sometimes I go INTO that folder and select "sessionstore.js" and This has always worked, and I breathe a sigh of relief when I restart Firefox and "restore previous session" is available and I can get all my tabs back (even if a few hours' worth of "opens and closes" are missing).
Tonight I had to restart my computer because of a memory problem (got a system error that the OS was out of memory, which strangely happens once in a while). But I was able Firefox quit normally (i didnt have to force quit) and I restarted he computer. Safari started up normally and restored all of my tabs there, even though ironically Safari had hung and had to be force quit.
I am researching a writing project and had six or seven Firefox windows open with 10-25 tabs each (yes, I do this all the time, for years now, and it isnt usually a problem, so no judgment please). I NEED THOSE TABS BACK DESPERATELY. Reconstructing them from history would be excruciating if it could even be done. (In the past, not everything seems to be in history in the order I want it; what I'd want is all of the tabs in the order they opened last time.)
I've lost a lot of time on this already. I would be losing many many hours of work if I cant get those tabs back. if anyone can help re what happened, what is going on, and most of all how I can use Time Machine or a backup (or ANYTHING) to hopefully find the hidden file that saved/recorded my last session, I would be deeply appreciative. Going back a few hours or even days in Time Machine would help.
    Thanks so much!
    Samantha.

Yes, that's the problem (sorry, I wasnt clear)—when I go to Time Machine, there IS no sessionrestore.js file in any of the previous folders any more (???) and if I try to just replace the whole "qqfh38jn.default" folder, it is greyed out and wont let me. (It has let me do this before.) I tried replacing the sessionstore backups folder—it lets me do that—fro several of the last few backups, but when I reopen Firefox there is still no previous session to restore. :(
Why would there be no sessionrestore.js file in my recent backups? It was always there before.

  • Firefox crashed before I could load my previous session - how may I restore it? I have backed up relevant session files, but have no idea how to use them.

I was using Firefox shortly before deciding to restore my previous session (100+ tabs!), but the browser froze and went blank with the "Not Responding" label on top. This happened to me before, and I decided to just quit the session. I knew that I would lose the session I wanted, but I backed up the important session files found in the Mozilla directory (or at least whatever has "session" and "restore" in its name) while the browser was stuck (before quitting).
What I'd like to understand is HOW TO USE these files to get my session back. I've tried replacing the session files with the back-up copies to no avail. Once long ago I managed to recover a session successfully, but with Firefox constantly changing, I may have lost touch with this.
I use Firefox 34 and Windows 8.1, but I'll need others' help in identifying the session backup/restore files I need to use from the ones I backed up.
I believe that the "recovery.bak" is vital, because it contains the tab/page names I was viewing.
I would greatly appreciate whoever would help me in this, especially if they can teach me the proper methods to follow if this ever happens again (which most likely will!)

You can look at this post in this MozillaZine forum thread about inspecting a sessionstore file and possibly extract URLs.

You can open the Browser Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
Paste the JavaScript code in the command line and press the Enter key to run the code.
