IOS7 automatically downloading- how do I stop it?

I just turned on my iPad and suddenly iOS7 is downloading- I'm not ready to upgrade yet but I can't find a way to stop it. I turned off wifi for the moment but how do I stop it permanently?

Basically, it is a pushed download from Apple of which you have no control. Not all devices get it either. Once it's installed on your device, you cannot delete it, except for actually pushing the Install button. No, the update will NOT install unless you push the install button. Since you cannot delete it, it remains on your device goobling up as much as 3.1 GB. See the following topic where I posted a step-by-step way to get rid of it & keep it off of your device...it takes a little work on the user's end but it does work.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5378130?start=0&tstart=0
Also, please leave your feedback with Apple regarding this auto-pushed download that hogs 3.1 GB of space, regardless if you want it or not.

    Hi,
Are you running Win 8 and don't want to upgrade to Win 8.1?
Please see here for three methods to stop the Win 8.1 upgrade notification.
You will probably need to use methods two or three unless you are running Win 8 Pro.

adobe tries to open every file i download, how do i stop this?

This is a file association problem. You can change the files Adobe Acrobat can open, but the method depends upon your version of the operating system. There used to be an entry in the Acrobat/Reader Faq on how to do this.

Every time I restart my mac air some applications like calendar and Microsoft word automatically starts, how can I stop such applications from starting when ever I restart my mac?

One thing to check:  when shutting down or restarting, there is a checkbox in the shutdown/restart dialog which asks whether you want currently open applications to open at startup.

  • TS1424 i have purchiced a cd from the ituns store but it seems to keep downloading how do i stop this and get a refund for the extra cd

I have downloaded a CD from the itunes store but it seems to keep downloading. how do i stop this and get a refund for the unwanted CD's

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

Look in System Preferences - Users & Groups - Highlight your user Account - Login Items - and then if you see Excel in the list then select it and click the - symbol in the box to remove it. Log out of your account and login to test.

  • Notes on ipad automatically emailing, how do I stop it

My new iPad 2 is automatically emailing my notes to me.  I am not tapping the email button at the bottom of the note.  It just happens everytime I leave notes to go somewhere else.  When I connect to iTunes on my computer, the "sync notes" box is not checked.  Any ideas on how I can stop this from happening?  Thanks.

I would like an answer on this as well.  It seems my ipad2 is arbitrarily emailing notes for no particular reason.  One note was mail to me about 20 times with no changes that I was aware of.  Any suggestions"

  • When downloading a file is completed, it is automatically opened, how can I stop this behaviour?.

Every time I download a file (documents, audio, etc) Firefox for android automatically opens the file when the downlod is completed. This is relly annoying when I want to open it at a later or when I want to downoad a lot of files. Is there is any way to stop it from automatically opening downloded files?

This will change in Firefox 25.

  • HUGE e-mail downloading, how can I stop it?

Every time I load Mail and check my emails I get the download icon rotating endlessly - this only started two nights ago but no matter how long I wait one email doesn't finish downloading, and believe it or not I've left the Mac running for over eight hours! Smaller emails load ok but this huge file seems to be taking forever even on 512k broadband. I have to force-quit Mail to stop the download but everytime I restart, there it is again. How on earth can I get rid of this file, or check what it is? I'm not expecting anything and it's really annoying!!

Hi Folks - thanks for your replies so far!
To clarify - this message has been wiped from my server by webmail access and my inbox there is now empty (pop3 account); however the message in my inbox (and all 11 copies) is quite strange in that firstly there is no visible content until I click on the header - when it appears as an undeliverable mail message - and secondly it is marked as junk (Mail thinks this message is junk) but does not moved automatically to the junk folder and I have to do so manually, whereupon they all disappear from the inbox. Once I close and return to the inbox, there they are again. They don't appear in the junk even when I try to manually move them. This is off-line. I cannot find them and cannot delete them, but everytime I return to the inbox after trying to wipe them, there they are again - plus one more! It's very very annoying!

  • Why are my emails being deleted since I've updated to ios7? And how do I stop this?

Good old ios7 has taken away the ability to know how many emails you want to store I.e. 25, 50, 200 etc. It also takes it upon itself to just delete emails whenever it fanices. I'm not talking about confirming deletes once you've pressed the trash can icon, I'm talking about just deleting it itself when it wants. Can you please tell me how to stop this auto deleting and how to store more emails? Thank you.

This will occur when you share an apple id with someone.
ON each devices go to settings - mail - send&receive- remove or uncheck the apple id.

  • For 4 days now firefox updates are automatically downloading ad won't stop.

The download for firefox updates keeps running and won't stop.

If updating isn't working then do a clean reinstall.
    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
