IOS7: Charging or just plugged in?

Hello,
the conector on my iPhone is a little faulty. Sometimes when I would try to charge my phone the usual way, IOS6 would tell me that it is in fact not charging but just plugged in. There used to be different icons for this on IOS6. That was a good thing, becauseif I saw that it was not charging I would deconnect, and connect it again until the right symbol was showing. Now with IOS7 there is only one icon; the one that in IOS6 meant "charging". It is even being shown when the iPhone is in fact not charging, but just in "plugged in" state.
Is there any way to know that it really is charging?

At the moment, iOS 7 only has one logo to show that the phone is "charging" althought it may be just "plugged in" and not actually charging.  There might be issue with either your iPhones dock or the actual cable.  I would say, if you can, try purchasing an Apple Charger and see if it produces the same issue, if it does, then most likely there's something going on with the phone.
Now, depending on your phone, if you're still within Apple Care and your cable is in-fact faulty with no damage to the cord, take it to the nearest Apple Store and make a Genius Bar reservation. They can replace the cable for you at no charge.
Hope this answered your question!
Good Luck!

  • Can I use my standard car charger i got for iphone 4 with iPhone 5? if I just plug in the usb to lightning cable or will it damage the new iphone?

The charger takes a usb cable, so I figure I could just plug in my usb to lightning cable and charge using my Saitek charger.  Does anyone know if this works?

Did you get this to work?  Mine did not work when I plugged it into my at&t iphone car charger usb port.

Given the state your device is in you have already erased your old stuff. You have an image on the screen that says, "Connect to iTunes." That's what the image means. So you will need iTunes on your computer.

  • I have a ipod touch 8gb when i plug it in to charge it just blinks from the apple screen to the battery screen but will not charge what could be wrong it was fine yesterday?

I have a ipod touch 8gb . When I plug it in to charge it just blinks from the apple screen to the battery screen what could be wrong?

    Maybe:
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable
    - Try another charging source
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    or
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • When I plug my ipad in to charge its just coming up with a red bar in the charge icon and not charging

When i plug in my ipad to charge its just coming up with a red bar in the recharge icon and not charging.... what does this mean and how can it be fixed... checked all cables, not broken

First make sure you are using the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a good wall outlet. When the iPad battery is completely drained it may take some time on the charger before the iPad responds. Be patient and let the iPad remain on the charger for at least an hour then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is at 100%. If the iPad does not restart Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • For some reason when I plug my phone up to charge it just keeps showing me the apple logo and then it goes away shows the battery sign is low and that its charging. So I'm wondering why it wont turn on would I have t get a new one, and would it be free

If you've tried the basic troubleshooting steps (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new), and you've tried charging from a wall socket and these all fail, then you have a hardware problem.
If your unit is still in warranty, you will be eligible for a replacement with a refurbished unit free of charge.  If you are out of your warranty period, you will be eligible for an out of warranty exchange which will cost the equivalent of 200 US dollars.

  • Help  battery to charge or just run plugged in?

I am new to the ibook. All I know is I can stay on the computer awhile and before I know it the batteryis run down then I charge it. If I am going to use it for a long period of time, should I just take the battery out and plug it in? Can I just plug it in at any time and take the battery out ? Do I need to let the battery goet down low before I do that?

    Here's my recommendation:
If your iBook will mainly be sitting on a desk, leave it plugged in.
If it will be elsewhere, alternate between plugging it in and running on battery power.
ie: run on battery for 2-3 hours (depending on how long your battery usually lasts) then plug in for a while.
Most users recommend a full charge, discharge, full charge cycle once a month to keep your battery at its best.
    Hope I've helped a bit!

I just plugged my iPhone into my Mac. I got this pop up - The iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes. I went to the address and updated my Mac but the pop up still comes up - I can't find out if they mean my iPhone needs to be updated or how to update it if that is the case.

    Hi RileyAvaCadenRiver,
If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:

  • My iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, but when connected to my brand new ASUS Windows-8 laptop's USB 3.0 port the charging process just keeps "blinking" on both the iPod and the laptop and will not connect to Itunes...

Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem!                                                                                                                                                                                                                               My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar.                                                               When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over!                                                                                                                  I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good.                                                             I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work!                                                                                          The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated!                                                                                                                                                                I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing!                                                       I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos, since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol.                                                                                                                                                                                                 I hope somebody knows a fix or solution! Thank You!

  • My charger has been plugged in, but battery won't charge.

I had my computer plugged in to charge before I left on a trip. When I arrived, I had no battery charge. I remember that the little light was always red when I thought it was charging. Then I couldn't get my computer to recognize when it was plugged in, I couldn't get the light to light green. It wouldn't charge. The plug in part has always sparked when it hits the source in the wall, and now the mag plug gets very hot. I tried every plug in the hotel, to no avail. Then I spent two days at a private residence, and it charged! Now, I'm back in a hotel and I can't find a plug that says my power source isn't plugged in when I was trying to update my iTunes.
I am also having problems turning it off, and on.
When I think I powered down, and then turn it on, it's been on the whole time. No chimes at start up, just motor running and screen eventually surfaces.
I can't go to an Apple store, and I'm not on Apple Care (a huge mistake). Any suggestions?
