Ios7 find my phone lost mode no longer lets you set a new passcode to unlock
Prior to ios7, through iCloud and Find My Phone, I could turn on Lost Mode and it prompted for an unlock code. Now, it no longer asks for a new code, just a phone number to show in a prompt on the locked phone. This is a hole.
So, what if a friend or stranger knows or sees me unlock my phone on a regular basis, but then later steels it? Now I turn on Lost Mode, but since they know the normal lock screen 4 digit code, they have the phone and can unlock it from Lost Mode.
That isn't safe, and is a step backwards from the previous Lost Mode options.
Take this to another level, my child has a phone and has been abusing it... I want to lock it. Now I can't!!!!!!!

That was one of the draws for me to buy 5 iPhones for my entire family, one platform to support and the ability to know where everyone is.
I really wish they would re-consider and bring this back.
If not, I would be willing to pay for an app to allow me to use the locate feature.

Using Find My iPhone, I set my MacBook Air I thought was lost to Lost Mode. However, when it was returned to me, upon booting up, it showed a flashing folder with a question mark. After some research I found out you were supposed to hold Option upon boot up. This resulted in a password screen, where I entered the passcode I have entered with Find My iPhone, however I cannot access any WiFi network, as it doesn't show any and being next to my router and putting in the details isn't accepted, and booting up from Macintosh HD just results in a dark grey screen.
I resolved the issue. After launching from Macintosh HD, I held down Shift, and then it prompted me for my PIN, which was the same as the code I entered on Find My iPhone, and then it relaunched and let me log in. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but it seems very inconvenient and not intuitive if it's intended.

how do i get photos from my old phone(which i no longer have) on to my new phone i backed them up i dont know how to access them though

Restore from an iCloud backup
If you have a new iOS device, or if you need to restore your iOS device to resolve an issue, follow these steps.
Follow the initial steps in the iOS Setup Assistant (select your language, and so on).
Select Restore from iCloud Backup when the assistant asks you to set up your iPhone (or other iOS device).
Select the backup you created earlier.
You can restore a backup only by using the iOS Setup Assistant.
If you've already set up your device, you can erase all current content to go through the iOS Setup Assistant again. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do this only if you already have a backup, because this step will remove all current content from your device.

If you have a new iOS device, or if you need to restore your device to resolve an issue, follow these steps:
Connect your iOS device to the computer that has your backup.
Make sure this computer has the latest version of iTunes.
Choose File > Devices > Restore from Back up.
If you're using iTunes 10.7 or earlier, right-click the device from the list and choose Restore from Backup.

Everytime i plug my phone into itunes it says it cant connect because the phone is locked well i restored my phone twice and set a new passcode the last time and it still wont work . I even deleted itunes and reinstalled it , it dosent work . HELP PLZ !!
I had the same issue. I tried everything unchecking / rechecking, formatting Iphone and restoring from backup etc etc.
In the end it was a simple issue which might of might not help you.
A number of months ago I relocated by Itunes folder to a NAS drive. It appears when I did the last I tunes update Itunes set the destination path of the Itunes media to the default location, the result was Itunes couldn't install music,apps, video until I set the correct destination path.
The bit that confused me was it was transferring some media. This was of course the media I had downloaded since the last Itunes update which had gone to the default location.

Find My Phone - Secondary Account - No longer possible with iOS 7

I'm guessing with the sheer number of posts following the iOS release today that this will likely get lost in the flood, but it's really really making me crazy and would love a fix if possible.
Pre-iOS 7, I had all of the family's devices set to use the same iCloud's account for find my phone. This was achieved by adding a second account to the device, disabling find my phone on the primary account, then turning it on in the secondary account. This was perfect. One login, all devices show up.
This no longer works as the secondary account, still listed after the upgrade, now has a note that find my phone is only available on the primary account.
Please please please. How do I get this back? Honestly, I'd even take it as is if you could associate multiple accounts within the find my phone app, but I don't see this as an option either.

IOS7 Find my phone lockdown for business
Our company currently uses iPhones as our business mobiles. All users with iPhones use their own personal Apple ID accounts so they purchase their own apps, etc.
With the new changes coming in with iOS7 and find my phone how do we get around the lockdown that will occur if the user then leaves the company? As far as I can tell, if I don't have the person's personal Apple ID details the phone could end up useless.Hi,
I have just come accross this issue and it relates to an issue I am having. We have the same scenario with all of our employees having issued iPhones (approx 50 or so) with the new IOS update with FindMyPhone, we started configuring a generic business email address for this application and keeping the password confidential (Only known by us in the IT Department)
My question is, after configuring this on a few devices, is there a potential for all the devices to sync their personal information into the one icloud device (photos, contacts etc) which may cause some issues as you would imagine.
And secondly, is there a better method I should be using rather than a single icloud email.
I can understand mobile phone policies etc is one way to try and handle this however it doesnt help when you are dealing with a lot of users. There is always someone who will do the wrong thing. Short of planning at phasing out the iPhones from the business, I would like to see if we can make this a business managable device first.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have lost my iPhone. Someone has found it. I got an email message when they turned it on and called it immediately. Unfortunately they turned it off, after the first call and now it goes straight to answerphone. It has been in lost mode for three days. My question is simple, if the person guesses the four digit passcode, can they send/see text messages and emails, can they see contacts etc. Do they need my apple id and password to access and use the phone or simply the four digit code?

If they guess or if it was actually taken by someone that knows me or saw me enter the code, then can they use the phone normally once it's entered, will i get an email or will the phone come out of lostmode on the app? The only way to potentially find it is if Find My iPad is still enabled on it - which will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPad disabled on it.
If you haven't already done so then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc., and contact your carrier. -

I had bought my samsung smartphone from BESTBUY under verizon 2 years contract . i have the reciept with me .
I settled the contract with verizon and closed the verizon account.
Now my question to all of you is - my phone is lost and i need to find the IMEI # to find the location where exacctly is my phone .

I tried using the find a phone "lost" feature on my daughters apple devices..
My daughter has an iphone 4, ipod and ipad. I was trying the Find My iPhone app to lock her devices simulating a lost or stolen device. When she tried to enter in the passcode I used to unlock the phones, it said wrong passcode... How do I unlock theese devices. I recently purchased an Iphone 5s, 16 GB, version7.1.2, , model ME305LL/A. I've been having some issues however.
It appears someone has entered a passcode for "restrictions". I do not recall ever having engaged this feature and the
only proof I have of that is I am unable to find the passcode! There are 379 photos on this phone which I would like to keep. But
I am unable to backup my device because of the restrictions being turned on. I do not want to lose the data. Any suggestions would be appreciated.I did try to get help by going into the local Apple store. However, I was told that the only way to get it working again, now that I am locked out it, is to get on itunes and do a complete factory reset. This of course would fix the locked out issue but I would loose all the pics.

There is no required charging time. Use it and charge it when its convenient.
You should however not let it drop below 20% charge too often. Once a month is suggested to re-calibrate the battery meter.
Other than that charge and use as you like. -

is there any other way to unlock an I phone?
Do you have a backup with iCloud? If you do, you could log into a computer and go to www.icloud.com, wipe the phone and then from the phone restore to the backup. Otherwise, it requires iTunes and the instructions in this support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
