IOS7 issues with getting unwanted contacts from another person who used to share an iCloud account with me....

I used to share an iCloud account with my sister (mainly for music/iTunes reasons). After downloading iOS7, I got all her contacts so I made my own iCloud account in order to separate our contacts, calendars, etc. Now her contacts are gone from my phone list but when I text, they still show up when I am selecting a recipient. How do I get rid them?

  • I share an iCloud account with my brother and he is receiving my iMessages

I share an iCloud account with my brother and our iMessage is linked together so he gets my text messages?

That's correct. If you share the same AppleID for iMessage, messages go to all devices.
If you don't want that to happen, and you want to be able to iMessage each other, then you or your brother will need to get a separate AppleID for iMessage.
In fact, iCloud accounts aren't meant to be shared between different people, as it means you won't be able to have your own independent contacts, calendars, bookmarks etc.

  • Can I share my iCloud account with all of my devices

Can I share my iCloud account with all of my iOS devices

Yes, but the access of some services is limited to 10 devices.

  • Can I share an icloud account with my wife but not share contacts?

My wife and I want to share the same icloud account. We both have iphones, and our contacts are getting messed up. Is there a way of storing our contacts separately? Or do I need to create a new icloud account for my wife? If so, how do I do that, as both our e-mail addresses are already linked to the existing appleID.

I personally would recommend to use two different Apple IDs/iCloud accounts for iCloud. And of course, you would still be able to share calendars, reminders and you could still set up "your" account as a secondary account on her device, so that she could also still access your email address.
To set up a new primary account, please go to Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (This would only delete the account from the device). Then create a new account here. After you set up her new account, you could add your account as a secondary iCloud account in "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > iCloud" and then activate just only Mail (and of course keep contacts turned off).

  • I am trying to connect my phone to iCloud and I downloaded all conatacts from another phone that was neither on the icloud account or on the itunes account?

I was trying to get all my contacts from my ipod to my iphone and when I had signed into my icloud and itunes account my phone had gotten the contacts from my moms phone. Which were on neither of my accounts. Is there a way I can delete all of them from my phone without deleting hers? Or just getting rid of all the stuff her phone had put on mine?

Make sure that you don't have the facebook contacts active as well. If you do, they will match up to facebook and keep appearing on your device. What you should do is go to settings > Facebook>  turn off contacts there. Repeat the process that I have mention earlier. This should do it. If it doesn't. Connect your device to your computer, and make sure you have the latest verison of iTunes. Next, back-up and restore the iPhone and set it up as a new device. When you are setting it up, DO NOT PLACE IN THE APPLE ID AND PASSWORD. Make sure that the iPod has only your contacts, and not connected to facebook contacts as well. Next, place your new Apple ID and password into the iPod. After that, place the new Apple ID and password into you iphone. This works 99.9% of the time. I hope it helps.

  • HT1296 How can I get my contacts from my iPhone even though I don't have it ?

I'm trying to get my contacts from my iPhone but I don't have my iPhone with me

It might take a bit longer, but it's risk free:
Use your iMac to send your contacts in an email to yourself
    Open them using your iphone.
They should arrive as vcf format and you click to open it and hey presto!
Also works the other way round, so when I receive an email from a new contact, I register it on my iphone and click on "share contact", sending it to me which I then open on my Powerbook.

You can continue to share the same iTunes account ID with your daughter and set up a separate iCloud account with a different ID.
=> is this a different iCloud account for each device?  I thought iCloud account ID had to match some iTunes account ID, for which we only have one i Tunes account?
You need to set up a separate iCloud account for each person that does not want to share their iCloud data.  If you share an iCloud account with someone, any data you both sync with the shared account is merged, and you end up with each other's data on your device(s).  If, for example, you owned two devices and someone else in the family also owned two devices, you would both want your own iCloud accounts, and you would each set up your personal iCloud account on the two devices you own.  In other words, you want a separate iCloud account for each person to be used on the devices they own.  Each iCloud account has to have a separate Apple ID.  The ID does not need to be the same as the ID used for iTunes.  Many families perfer to share the same iTunes account/ID, but maintain separate iCloud accounts with different IDs to keep there data separated.

=> what ID, iTunes?  So I can have a separate iCloud account "only" ID which I also assume must be some [valid] email address?  The children currently do not have email accounts anywhere.
Yes, I was referring to the iTunes ID not needing to be the same as the ID used for iCloud.  In order to set up an Apple ID your children will need to have a valid email address that can be verified by Apple.  Apple requires this so they have a way of contacting the owner if there is a problem with the account, such as when you may need to reset the password on the account.  When you set up the ID, Apple will send a verification email to this email account and you will need to click on the verificating link in the email to complete the process.  If they don't currently have an email account you can just set one up with gmail or another free email hosting service.  They don't have to use the account but you will need it to set up the ID.

  • Getting back contacts from Blackberry Protect

so my Blackberry has broken and im getting rid of it but all my contacts are saved on the BB.
they are backed up on Blackberry Protect online but how do i get the contacts from BB protect to my SIM card???

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
The only way to do exactly as you request would be via another BB...restore from BB Protect, and then copy (one by one) your contacts from that BB to the SIM. BB Protect backups can only be used to restore to a BB...there is no other usage of that method of backup.
The Desktop Software, on the other hand, offers more robust access to your data. For instance, you can obtain a PC-based 3rd party BBB/IPD parsing app. Further, with Desktop Software prior to 7.0, you can export your contacts to CSV on your PC.
In any event, if all you have is BB Protect backup, then there only solution is as I've said above.
    Good luck!

  • How can I check my MobileMe mail & contacts from another iPhone?

How can I check in on my MobileMe email & contacts from another iPhone or iPad, not my own? When I go to Me.com, the only option it offers is to set up the iPhone with my account -- which is NOT what I want. Is there a workaround or another path to login that doesn't force the "setup"' page on me?

What a dumb decision. It would seem sensible that a mobile visitor to me.com should be able to proceed to the "regular" website and check mail, etc., through the web interface. Obviously -- well, okay, maybe not, but it puzzles me! You might be (as I tried, yesterday) vising the site through the browser on your wife's iPhone, which is already set up with an account there (and it would require cancelling her log-in and completely resetting her iPhone to proceed on the path Apple now requires!), or ya might be using a friend's iPad (my next attempt, a few minutes later!), or etc. etc. etc.  Ooops! Brick wall! No options.
Seems like a counter-productive decision, one that's certain to be counter to common-sense needs and goals of Apple users; I can't be the first person to find this dead-end to be frustrating and contrary to expectations.  Okay, I have my rant finished, now.
Apple, what was the problem that you were so determined to "fix" with this, ummm, feature? Howsabout a little tiny button hidden in greyscale that allows you to contine to the website, or a forcing URL that bypasses the mobile "set-up" interception? Help?
Thanks, gdgmacguy -- full credit for the answer! Darn it!
Oops, for some reason it credited ME with the correct answer. I'll try to contact Apple support to get it credited to you. This is apparently a screwup in my posting.

  • How can i get my contacts from itunes to my phone if my usb slot on my laptop is broke?

basically im looking to get my contacts from my itunes on my old laptop onto my new phone but the usb slot on the laptop is broke so i cant connect to itunes is there any way to get the contacts without connecting the phone to the laptop or is there another way to connect the phone to the laptop??

    Hello Joe,
Congratulations on your new iPhone 5!  If you do not have a working USB connection on your laptop, you can use iCloud to transfer contacts from your computer to your iPhone:
You can create and edit your contacts by using the Contacts app on iCloud.com from a Mac or Windows web browser. Changes you make are automatically pushed to your iOS devices and computers where you set up iCloud for Contacts. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, changes are pushed to the Contacts app. On your Mac, changes are pushed to Contacts (or Address Book in OS X v10.7.5), and on your Windows computer, changes are pushed to Microsoft Outlook. No matter which device you use to edit your contacts, the changes are updated everywhere, so you never have to connect your iOS device to your computer to keep your contacts current.
Access iCloud Contacts from a web browser
Go to icloud.com/#contacts and sign in using your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud).
You can find more information about iCloud and Contacts at the following help article:

  • I would like to get my contacts from my iPhone onto my iPad air?

I am trying to get my contacts from my iPhone 4S onto my iPad air. Can someone tell me how I do that please?

Do you use iCloud on your devices?
Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.
Set up iCloud on both devices then go to settings>iCloud>Contacts>On. Turn on the other options as well if you would like to use those with iCloud.

How do I get my contacts from Droid Bionic to iphone 4?

Centurion, congrats on your upgrade! I'm sure you'll enjoy the iPhone 4. There are several ways to transfer your contacts. First, are your contacts backed up to either Hotmail/Live or Google? If so, then you can setup that account as Microsoft Exchange account on your iPhone. For Hotmail/Live, http://bit.ly/14VLVIV. For Google, http://bit.ly/XzDaRC.
Let me know if you need further assistance, or have your contacts saved another way.
