Ios8.1 has put ipad mini into lost mode
Well this afternoon i decided to update my daughters ipad mini to the latest operating system as it was flagged up under the settings icon. This seemed to load ok and i went through the various intro screens ticked find my iphone as we have this activated on all our devices but before we could use the ipad it came up as being in lost mode and started to sound the alarm. Also and more worrying it is now asking for a 4 digit lock code which my daughter hasn,t used for months and guess what she cant remember it ! . I have gone into i cloud to turn off lost mode but the ipad is offline aarrgghhhh and i cant get it online because of the passcode. The only encouraging thing is the ipad is still recognised in itunes so i presume i will be able to do a factory reset ? .
Any ideas why it would go into lost mode after the update ?

Well, for the last week someones been putting my iPhone constantly in lost mode using my apple account and I keep getting out because I know my own password. I want to change the password but two other people I know use it, (who definetly wouldn't do this), someone else probably got ahold of the account and is spamming the phones into lost mode. I'm not in lost mode currently by the way. This repetition is really a hassle for me because I'm not always connected to the internet to get out of the lost mode, a few days ago, I went on a 12 hour flight and both my apple devices were probably put into the lost mode and I wasn't able to use my iPhone or iPad to do work and entertainment purposes. I was literally sitting there for 12 hours! So now that you sat through my problem, which I thank you for greatly, how do I switch apple/cloud accounts on my devices so this won't happen again? I hope you can give my solution, if there is one out there, and thank you in advance for atleast trying to solve my problem.
The only way this can happen is with access to your id and password

HT1212 My 80 yr old mother put her mini into disable mode when downloading ios7
She did something with her pass code when setting up ios7. Tried everything but now in disable mode. She's never synch'd with a PC, iTunes, etc. should I perform the following on my MacBook? Looking for suggestions. Thanks!
alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.Tried both of these - neither have worked.
Witht he first instructions it just keeps stating that they need the passcode
and pretty much with the next instructions - go through the whole process and then asks for the passcode - both of these are being asked on iTunes.
So, after spending about 2 hours on this the ipad is still disabled.
Any other ideas? Do I need to go into the store?

Ipad went into recovery mode during ios8 update , how do i sort it?

Connect the iPad to your computer by its cable, and your computer's iTunes should recognise that an iPad in recovery mode has been connected to it and let you reset it back to factory defaults - you can then restore to your last backup, or just resync your content to it.

I just bought my 10 year old autistic daughter an IPOD touch that she needs to take to school with just the music (no apps) on it but she also also has an IPAD mini for home that is fullly loaded with apps. The last time I tried to connect 2 devices to Itunes I ended up loosing my own music library so I am a bit hesitant to start setting up this new IPOD touch with outsome help. Anyone have any ideas on how I set up Itunes to make this work and not loose her IPAD apps and media?

I have an Ipad 2. My wife has an Ipad mini. When we plug in to Itunes (at different times) it synchs the apps from one Ipad on to the other. We don't want this. I have uncheked the box for Automatically synch apps, but it still does this.
How do I get Itues to see each Ipad as a separate item, and not try to keep them "equal" as far as apps installed?Remove the apps from iTunes with your device connected. You can basically deselect the apps that you don't want on each device. We have three IOS devices on one AppleID and they don't all have the same apps.

I lost my iPhone a few days ago and I put it on the lost mode. I don't want to give up looking for it. If a person stole it, is there a way for them to get into it or is it locked? I don't want to give up!!! But if there is a way that they could get in and take over my phone with a new number without me deactivating the iPhone and activating a different phone with my number.
lost mode don't depend of the sim card. If you take your Iphone on Lost mode... anybody can use it with the original card sim or with an other one.
Did you try to localise it ?
But hope that thief don't make a restore of the Iphone... Call your Mobile Operator to try to block the IMEI Number. -
I have an ipad 2, yesterday I updated my ipad going in to settings software update, then the ipad went into resore mode saying it needs to connect to itunes. I did that and itunes said it was goingo to do a resotre and I lost all my info, pictures, contacts. Is there a way to recover all my info?
You should be able to reconnect to iTunes and then you should see an option to restore to your ipad from your last back up in iTunes.

Mobile devices cannot be backed up directly to the Airport Time Capsule.
The iTunes program on the computer is required for backup. -
could some one help me everytime i plug my ipad mini into my laptop, the laptop crashes. Is this my I pad or my laptop.
Does this happen only when plugging into a specific port or all of them? If it happens with all of them then it's probably your laptop. Have you tried going through a powered usb hub? That would take the power burden off the laptop mb. Until you conduct a systematic search you will not be able to narrow down exactly what the real problem is.

Why has my ipad mini stopped connecting with my iPhone 4S? I used to use it to download books, or transfer emails to my ipad mini. It was fine 3 days ago, now I get a message saying " cannot join with iPhone" Any help greatly appreciated.
You can try resetting your iPad and iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists. -
I rebooted my ipad mini and lost my email ding
i saw alot of people with this problem and no solution was working....hope this helps someone.....
fyi to solve my problem -after i held down the home button and the on/off button and updated my ipad mini i lost the ding notification when i received an email-
i connected my ipad to my laptop and went to itunes and an automatic sync started and i let it finish...because it said it was syncing apps-which yahoo is an app-then when the sync was done i sent myself an email from my laptop and my ipad mini went DING...............so happy.https://iforgot.apple.com
