IOS8&Bluetooth

Once I updated to IOS8, I lost my bluetooth on my ipad air. Ipad can see other bluetooth devices but won't pair.
I've tried all the fixes I can find but nothing works. Hopefully Apple has a fix in the works for the various bugs being identified with the new OS.

Hello a6fixer,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It details the process in which you can restore your phone to factory settings. I would recommend the restore and setting up the device as new:

  • IOS8 Bluetooth broken for BMW and VW factory handsfree

Since upgrading to IOS8, both iPhone 5C and iPhone 4s have issues in both BMW and VW handsfree, that worked perfectly under IOS 7.x - other iPhone 5c works fine under IOS7.
Phones connect and sync phone books, then drops connection.  Attempt to make or receive call - no audio, must revert to handset or speaker mode.
Doesn't seem to be car manufacturer specific based on posts, Apple may need to review if indeed IOS8 has broken something in the BT specs.
I think I will revert to IOS7 if possible, safety is my concern for the family.

The way I fixed my issue -
Backup your iphone to your PC/Desktop/Laptop.
Reset your iphone to Factory Defaults   (General - Reset - Erase All Content & Settings).
This will bring you back to the "Welcome" screen.
Tap through all the welcome screens - but when it asks you if you want to restore your phone or setup as a new user.    Choose the option to setup as a new user (DO NOT restore from your icloud backup).
This will leave you with a brand new setup of your iphone with no data or apps (except the default apps).
Then go out to your car and pair it with your car and test.    It should work fine.
then go back in the house and hookup the iphone to your PC/Desktop/Laptop using the USB cable and you should be able to see the apps that were loaded and click on them to reinstall them back to the phone and then add your contacts, calendar, etc.
The bluetooth connectivity was very important to me to get working, even if I had to manually type my contacts back into my phone.   I use Exchange for my email so my contacts, appointments, etc loaded the minute I added my mail account back to the phone.
    Good luck.
This is what I found worked for me.    Hope it helps.
Worst case - if it doesnt work - wipe the phone to factory defaults again and then restore from your last icloud backup.

  • IOS8 bluetooth problem on iPhone 4S

Apon upgrading to ios8 my iPhone 4S connects to my cars bluetooth car kit (Toyota Venza 2011) but every time I place a call from my car the call drops from my car and i am only able to speak on my phone only.

Go into Settings on the phone and remove the vehicle from the list. Turn off Bluetooth and then perform a reset on the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo. After the phone restarts, go to the vehicle and remove the phone from the list of paired devices. Turn the car off and then back on again. Put the vehicle into discovery/pairing mode. Go into Settings on the phone and turn Bluetooth on. The devices should connect.

  • IOS8 bluetooth broken. Help!

My iPhone 5s is unable to detect let alone connect to my third party earpiece at all, nor would it connect to my iPad (4th gen) via Personal Hotspot. I had to re-pair how ever I am unable to delete the previous paring. Incidentally my iPad is also not detecting the earpiece but it is detecting my Mac. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues and have you fund a solution?

You need to ensure that you have put the earpiece into discovery mode. Another thing you may try is to go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network settings. However, if you remove the device from the Bluetooth settings on the phone and then put it back into discovery mode, it should connect. I've not had any issues connecting to my vehicle, my BlueAnt headset, or my Samsung TV at home with an iPhone 5S with iOS8. I had all 3 paired in the past on iOS 7.x as well.

  • IOS8 bluetooth do not switch properly between Music and Coursera

I have a 2012 Subaru outback and a 2014 Subaru Impreza. I have the same bluetooth connection problem on both cars.
My iphone 6 plus is paired so when I start the car, the bluetooth system will start playing the tracks in the Music or Podcast. That have been working great, no hiccups. However, when I switch to Coursera app to listen to the downloaded videos, the speakers would go on mute while the video is playing. If I turn up the volume, that will trigger the audio system to start playing Music again, although the active app is still Coursera. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I have 2 hours commute each day, and really need to be able to listen to Coursera along the way. Thanks...

i am having this problem too
    any ideas?

  • Ios8 Bluetooth audio out for car/headset

I have connected my iphone to my car via bluetooth, I can make phone call via my car speaker&mic but How can I set up  Bluetooth audio out for car/headset?
    Thanks!

I have this and also a car charger adaptor for it, but it doesn't work because Apple changed the volts on the charger.

  • My wifi wasn't working for more than 10 minutes at a time after updating to IOS8 and resetting network settings. I turned off google drive, turned off Bluetooth, reset network settings and rebooted my iPad4. So far so good.

I have an ipad4.  Wifi keeps cutting out after the upgrade even after I forget the network and resign on or reset all network settings. I deleted iCloud drive from my iPad, turned off Bluetooth, reset network settings, and rebooted my iPad. Since I upgraded to IOS8 this is the longest wifi has consistently been working for me. Which is approximately an hour now. Anyone else find that this worked or have figured out if this or anything out there is a permanent fix?

    Hi CollinGCC78,
It sounds like you have been on the right track in troubleshooting this issue. If you are still having issues, you may want to double-check the steps outlined in the following article, in order if possible (apologies for replicating any steps you have already taken):

  • HT204378 2 iOS8.1.1 devices can't connect via BT "Using Keynote Remote with Bluetooth" - HT6112

I'm unable to get to iOS devices to connect via Bluetooth for Keynote control.  It's described above under the heading "Using Keynote Remote with Bluetooth".  Am I missing something?  I see the article mentions iOS8 so I know it's been updated recently.   I also see that this hasn't worked in the past.  Curious that the articles suggests it can be done now.
    I have 3 iOS devices all 8.1.1.
    iPhone 5
    iPhone 5s
    iPad 3rd Gen
    Thanks,
    Russell

Just talked to Bose and learned the solution.
Reset the speaker ....hold down the bluetooth button until you hear a tone. Delete the Bose in the Bluetooth Device directory on the iPad. When it is automatically rediscovered it will connect.
    Worked for me .....

  • IPhone 6 BlueTooth issues with iOS8

    Ok here is my findings:
Tried 2 iPhone 5 units before iOS8 and no issues with Bluetooth (1 I had for 2 years and no issues in my car). Once updating to iOS8 the bluetooth didn't work well at all for phone calls but music connects fine. Strange issues with the unit automatically start dialling but not able to cancel call until you disconnected bluetooth.
Also incoming calls ring but unable to answer and seem to lock up so you have to disconnect bluetooth to hang up.
I tried everything listed in the forums here and what the Apple reps told me. It works for a short while until the phone gets turned off or synced with iTunes. Now I have a new iPhone 6 with iOS 8 and it worked initially before I started setting things up.
I did not restore from a back up, I started as a new phone. Once I installed all my apps (Not in iTunes, rather manually over the air) and changed settings on the phone (not sure if it because of changing settings or turning the phone off) it would not connect to bluetooth in my car anymore, well it does just for music. I have tried my wife's iPhone 5c and it seems to work fine with my bluetooth so it definitely has nothing to do with my vehicle.
Apple there is a definite issue here. Stop telling me and other people to contact my car manufacturer to fix the issue. It all worked fine before iOS 8. Something needs to be done ASAP or I will be returning my phone and jumping ship to an Android or Windows phone as much as that may pain me. I have been a loyal Apple customer for the last 7 years. If this is how you are going to treat me and other loyal customers, you will not keep us for long.
I am hoping someone from Apple is reading this. If so I am expecting to be contacted. We expect a resolution fast!

I had same Bluetooth issues with iOS 8 on my iPhone 6; no phone/no music streaming although showing as "connected" with my 2 vehicles (VW and Audi).
Apple telephone technical support team solved issue with both cars as follows:
    1. Delete the phone from handsfree memory in the Bluetooth car settings.
    2. "Forget" the handsfree device (car) in the iPhone Bluetooth settings.
    3. Reset ALL settings in iPhone (not just network settings)!!
(note: I had to reset ALL settings twice in a row for this to work.)
It worked in both cars! (Hope it stays working.....?)
You will have to reset wallpaper, and most other settings, as well.  Certainly worth the trouble to get car Bluetooth up and running properly.
    Good luck.

  • Apparent bluetooth problem ios8 and yosemite

macbook pro retina early 2013 running yosemite and an iphone 5s running ios8 won`t pair via bluetooth. after i click on pair on the macbook and confirm the code on the iphone, the connection just fail, and i can't make the iphone forget the macbook on the device list at the bluetooth settings.
also, the macbook do recognize the iphone on airdrop, but my iphone doesn't recognize the macbook, so i can't send files from the iphone to the macbook even though all setting seems to be as they`re  supposed to.
and there is no sign of handoff working...
does anyone already know how to solve this?

    Hi flavioadb,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of the issues you are describing; your Mac and your iPhone should not need to be manually paired to use AirDrop or Continuity/Handoff. If you are having issues with these functions, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following articles helpful:
Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices
Use AirDrop to wirelessly share content

    Hello Viking46,
If you are having issues connecting to any Bluetooth devices, then I would take a look at the article below. It will have you take a look at settings on iCloud and have you remove and inactive devices and then pair the connection again.

  • Motorola Bluetooth functionality under IOS8

    Equipment:
    iPhone 5S
    Motorola Boom Bluetooth (HX600)
Does anyone know of a fix for this?  Since I upgraded to IOS8, my Motorola Boom Bluetooth will not function correctly.
Under IOS7, opening the Boom (mic) turned on the device, answered the phone, and switched the audio to the Bluetooth device.
Under IOS8, opening the Boom (mic) turns on the device, answers the phone, but does NOT transfer the audio to the device.  This forces me to manually switch audio which violates state law when driving.
Conundrum: When the Boom is turned on, i.e., on my ear, and a call comes in, pressing the Call button successfully answers the call.
    Note: Outbound calls work correctly.
    Remedies tried:
Turn Bluetooth Off, then On on the iPhone
Drop Bluetooth device; Turn Off/On iPhone; Reset Boom; re-Pair device
    Hard Reset Boom
    Soft reset iPhone

you can only update the whole firmware to your phone, where did you get yours done, you should go back to the service point and ask them to fix it

  • Since I upgraded to IOS8, iphone has changed the way it calls via car bluetooth.  Before (IOS8) once I hit 'call' it was transfer to car speakers and i would hear dial tone until answer.  Now, call will only transfer to speakers once call is answered

Since I upgraded to IOS8, iphone has changed the way it calls via car bluetooth.  Before (IOS8) once I hit 'call' it was transfer to car speakers and i would hear dial tone until answer.  Now, call will only transfer to speakers once call is answered.  This is very incovenient as I never know if my call is going through, and sometimes when call isn't answered immediately I have to look at my phone to cancel the call.  Is there a new setting I am missing?

Sometimes you turn off your Bluetooth and then back on and it doesn't reconnect with your phone unless you go into the menu. Either way doesn't help much if someone calls you while you're driving and you realize your iPhone is stuck on headphone input.

  • IPhone 5c iOS8 not staying connected to 2014 car bluetooth

So basically I have a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic, which used to connect fine with my iPhone via bluetooth.
Then I updated to iOS8 and now every time I make a call with the phone trying to stay connected to the bluetooth it hangs up in the car but stays on my phone.
I'm wondering if iOS8 is not compatible with Chev MyLink/Onstar/bluetooth settings anymore? This is really frustrating.
I've tried restarting my phone, removing the device from my car and my phone and starting over fresh and nothing seems to help.
Anybody else have a resolution or the same problem?
