IOS8 completely messes up old "family sharing" method of sharing an itunes account

Instead of my wife and I's five devices working very well together ...sharing a 200gb storage plan, sharing safari tabs through iCloud, ect.  Our devices have been completely hacked apart by this new family sharing setup. It's also going to cost us more money now as we have to increase iCloud storage for each user instead of having one large account to backup too. I can't even backup my devices right now until I increase my cloud storage on the extra accounts we are having to use.
Hoping i can can downgrade back to iOS7 and then I'll have to decide if I'm sticking with the Apple ecosystem. was looking forward to getting a new 6 too.

So can someone that hasn't switched to Family sharing and is using a shared account please verify whether or not you can still log in and out of Find My Friends separately?
This is the issue that P-T-M and I are concerned and having problems with.
So far my account is "stuck" in share mode. I am working with Apple to try and get that fixed.

You've tried contacting iTunes Support ? Purchases are considered final, but you can try contacting them via this page and see what they say : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.
If the purchases were done on an iOS device, then to try and stop it happening again you can use Settings > General > Restrictions on it to turn off in-app purchases, and to require your password to be entered for every download (the default is a 15 minute period during which it doesn't need re-entering). You can also hide the App Store ('Installing Apps' set 'off') and the iTunes store app via the Restrictions screen.

  • Can library on home sharing be used by different iTunes accounts?

I would like to have access to the songs we have on our itunes library- songs my husband put onto our PC using his old cd's...   They are now part of his iTunes library.  Will homesharing with our home computer open this up to my itunes account?  Our old PC's files are transferred but came over in itunes.  I would like these 1800 songs in my library as well...   Otherwise, I do not see any advantage of homesharing... (for my family)  Am i missing something?

    Hello Hillsinki,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you are wanting to simply transfer music in one iTunes Library to another computer's iTunes Library, just follow the "Home Sharing" directions found in the article below.

  • My old PC no longer works but my iTunes account is on it, I don't want or need a new PC so how do I access my account?

My iTunes account is on my old PC laptop which no longer works so I have no access to update my iPod nano or back up iPhone etc. what can I do?

You can create "on-the-go" playlists on the nano.
You can't very well home share from a computer that isn't running. Your Apple TV can connect to your account and stream your purchases from iTunes in the Cloud.
See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device when you're ready to to pull back your non-purchased media which you presumably haven't backed up elsewhere.

  • Sharing music from two different iTunes accounts

I have an iTunes account with purchased music which is shared across two users on my home iMac.  We can download music to various ipods with our own playlists because each user has their own login on the iMac.
With a new iPad mini, one user will be adding apps and potentially new music choices and will pay for it separately.  With a separate iTunes account, how will those purchases syncronize back to the iMac?
Will (or can) new music purchased on the mini be loaded into the Shared Music folder upon syncing?

If you mean iTunes Store accounts, there's really nothing for you to do. Just add the tracks to the iTunes library and play them. Music purchased prior to late-2009 will been to be authorized, though. Pull down Store > Authorize... and type the credentials of the Apple ID used to buy the tracks.
If you mean something else, please describe in more detail.

  • Can anyone tell me how to see old devices that I had on my itunes account.

Well my apartment was broken into and I cant find some of the reciepts to my items like my ipad and my two ipods.  can anyone tell me how i can see old items that were on my itunes account?

You can change the play order of playlists.
Put the songs in the order you want.
Right click on the playlist name and select Copy to Playlist order.
    Then sync the iPod.

  • How do I take off another user off my iTunes account? It's a x family member and we share one iTunes account but I'm the main person on it.

A ex family member is under my iTunes account and I need to try to remove him but can't figure it out.

You can edit the information on your Apple account in a number of places (they all link together)
    On Apple.com - http://store.apple.com/us/account/home
On the Apple ID Website - https://appleid.apple.com
On iTunes - Choose Store > 'View Account' from the Menu Bar.
On an iOS Device - Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Tap on the 'Apple ID' > Tap 'View Apple ID'
    Good Luck!

  • Old PC crashed how do I retrive itunes account on new PC

Basically my Old laptop scrashed, went out and bought a new one, I assumed I would just download itunes. log in and all my library would appear. Was not the case and I have years of music missing now!!?
Any ideas if it is all retrievable (binned a lot of CD's as I thought the files were safe)

jennaindubai wrote:I assumed I would just download itunes. log in and all my library would appear. Was not the case and I have years of music missing now!!?
Why would anyone make this assumption?  It is completely illogical.
The content purchased from iTunes is the users responsibility to maintain.  Just like when you buy CD's and DVD's from the store.  If you misplace them, the only way to get them back is to repurchase them.
If you have failed to make a backup of your media over the years, then you have a problem.
It may be possible to recover the content from the old laptop, but it will require some effort on your part.
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, it is possible to redownload previously purchased music.  Videos are not available for redownload without repurchasing.  Apps have always been available for redownload as many times as the user wishes.

  • My 2 sons shared an apple ID and itunes account........

    Hi
I hope someone can help,  My 2 sons used the same Apple ID and itunes acounts from way back when they got mp3 players, now they both have iphone 4.
They really need to get their own accouts as arguements are being caused as you can imagine!!
How can I set up a new account for my youngest son without him loosing all the apps and stuff he has bought??
Any help would be gratefully received

no, you can't do that, but what you can do is this:
create a new apple id, then you sign in with the old apple ID on the iphone 4s, then with the icloud help you should be able to install all the apps you want in the iphone, and finally you sign out and sign in with the new apple id. This way you would be able to use all the apps from the other ID but all the new apps your son is going to download are going to be from the new apple ID. Hope you understand it

  • Sharing Apple TV with two iTunes Accounts

I have an iMac with an iTunes Account that is synced with an Apple TV. When I purchase movies on the Apple TV it bills my iTunes Account.
My Wife also has an iTunes Account separate from mine, and wishes to purchase movies on Apple TV and have the fee deducted from her her account.
Is it possible to have your Apple TV bill more than one account?

You will have to log into your wife itune account but from the TV.
    Settings, itunes etc......

  • If i already have an itunes account with my family can i open a new account to sync my old and new phone

if I already have an iTunes account with my family can I open a new iTunes account to sync my old iphone 4 and new iphone 5?

    Hi Rileycarline,
You can easily have an iCloud account that is separate from the Apple ID that is used for iTunes purchases. Take a look at the article below to walk you through that specific setup process of have an account for iCloud and one for Store purchases.

  • Problems with multiple itunes accounts since ios8

Since iOS8 I am having real problems getting my content from multiple iTunes accounts to work.  I used to be able to switch between accounts (US and Japanese stores) and download stuff, and play it all fine, but since iOS8 I get the message 'This device is already associated with an Apple ID'.  So, I thought I'd transfer everything to iTunes and then sync it back to the phone, which seemed to transfer the content, but when I try and play a song belonging to the account I'm not logged in as it shows the play screen and then jumps back to the play list.
This is very frustrating for those of us who straddle countries and want to be able to access content from both!
Is there any workaround for this?
    Thanks
    Ray

Well, I usually think of an 'iTunes account' as being an account at the iTunes Store...  I take it you have different iTunes collections with separate library files for each of you.
It sounds like you have different user accounts on the computer.  Figuring out what is going on will require us knowing a lot more about how you have your iTunes libraries set up.  Do you also have a shared area or do you keep totally separate accounts?  Are you positive you were't really in his account when this was happening?
