Ios8 iphone5 iphone 5 t-mobile wifi calling

Seems like everyone was under the impression that the iPhone 5 would have wifi calling enabled with the release of ios8.
So far as I can tell from all the posts I've read, this is not the case.
Apple, you need to officially respond to this issue!
This is HUGE!!!
My phone is less than a year old and it's not capable of wifi calling?
That's not acceptable!
Make this right Apple.

If you are angry that Apple is not allowing the wifi calling feature to a phone that is only a little more than a year old, let them know that you want this feature! We paid a lot of our hard-earned money for our phones and Apple better make it last for more than a two years.  I do not want my phone to go the way of the first generation ipads, obsolete in two years.   http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • IOS 8: T-Mobile WiFi Calling on 5s issues

Is anyone out there having problems with WiFi calling w/ their iPhone on T-Mobile?
I updated my Wife's 5s to iOS 8, and enabled the feature in settings because we suffer from terrible calling performance on T-Mobile (1 maybe 2 bars of signal) in our home. She still drops calls regularly. I dropped a call three times while speaking with T-Mo support about it last night.
They told me that they had to provision the feature on the account, which they did a couple of days ago, but even after doing so, it still doesn't seem to be working. How can I tell if the iPhone is using WiFi on a call? Is there an option to force it to use WiFi for calls?
I have an (older, rectangle 2nd gen) Time Capsule in bridge mode that serves WiFi to the house, but I don't think it is the issue because other wireless devices work just fine and I have no other WiFi issues. Also, the other phones on our T-Mobile account are all Android phones that support WiFi calling and they all seem to be working flawlessly with WiFi calling and indicate when the phone is placing the call over WiFi.
So, aside from using a different WiFi base station (such as T-Mobile's new WiFi router - which I won't do unless it supports bridge mode because I have a much more robust Cisco firewall doing the routing) I can only conclude this is an Apple/T-Mobile issue with their implementation of WiFi calling.
Just wondered what other iOS 8 & T-Mobile users were seeing with WiFi calling.
Thanks in advance, any helpful info would be appreciated.

@chattphotos: I didn't try pingtest, but with all due respect, I don't see the point. A connection with a 10ms ping and 100 down and 4 up should PLENTY!
@Hofstrajet: My wife's phone shows the same as the screenshot you posted. It definitely says T-Mobile Wifi
@Prelude_007 When you say you can connect at home, does that mean you can somehow make WiFi calls there? How do you know the call is actually going over WiFi from home and not Cellular? What is your cell signal like at home? At your work, it might not work because they probably are more restrictive with what kinds of traffic they will allow. It could be that your IT staff have firewall rules preventing anything but web and email traffic to pass. I am sure this VoIP protocol uses some different ports, but I haven't seen the details on how it was implemented yet.
My thoughts at this moment is that either there is an issue in iOS that may or may not be limited to the 5s, or that T-Mobile still needs to do something on their end.
The only thing I have left to try on my end is a different WiFi access point. but given that my Samsung Note 3, my son's Note 3, and another Galaxy S5 all have NO PROBLEMS making/taking WiFi calls, it has to be an Apple <-> T-Mobile issue.

  • SCHLC11 & T-Mobile Wifi calling (UMA )

Got a new Samsung SCHLC11, speed is great. Connected my T-mobile Blackberry and I can surf and get emails. But I can not make a Wifi (UMA ) call. My phone works great on any other wifi hotspot. I called tech service and they have no idea what UMA is. Please help.

This is not a feature that is supported by Verizon Wireless.  I recommend searching the internet for more information related to UMA stands for Unlicensed Mobile Access.   i have provided a link below with results from a Google search:

  • Will iPhone 5 support WiFi calling?

Does the iPhone 5 running IOS 8 support WiFi calling?

I'm guessing some iPhone 5's have been left out.  For example mine is an AT&T version which I purchased for full cost when they came out.  This was just prior to a T-Mobile iPhone version being introduced.  Nonetheless, the only difference I can discern is that the T-Mobile standard frequencies were not present on my earlier phone version.
I'm hopeful that this isn't something which is insurmountable.  I'd like to have the full value of my purchase price realized.  i know Apple can't add the T-Mobile frequencies, but at least they could deliver a software update version that permits Wi-fi calling.
Yes, I've updated to IOS8, but do not have the Wi-Fi calling menu that many with my iPhone 5 brethren are seeing.  This may be the reason some are not seeing Wi-fi as well.  I'd love to hear from anyone with some inside insights on this.  Thanks.
You might want to give T-Mobile a call and see if they can send you over a 'carrier update'. If I'm not mistaken, the 4S and above should be able to work with Wi-Fi Calling.

  • WiFi Calling and Visual Voicemail (VVM) Windows Phone (or Windows 10 Mobile)

We are planning to change our business network for company mobiles from Vodafone, we all have SIM-Free/Unlocked Windows Phone devices (Lumia 930, Lumia 735 and etc...) all with latest updates which is currently Windows Phone Update 1 except for 735 which is on Update 2 now I believe. Only EE offers true seamless WiFi calling and is advertised for Lumia 640 which is because of the Windows Phone Update 2 we believe. Based on this information I have 3 questions:What are the requirements for WiFi Calling on Windows Phone (Windows 10 Mobile) devices? We are also interested in Visual Voicemail (VVM) which latest Windows Phone supports however EE only appears to mention iPhones and no other device, number of questions have been answered with no current support however surly if they can do iPhone they can also do Windows Phone therefore wanting to know if anyone has any further information on this? Will any of the above require EE's own firmware or will the SIM-Free/Unlocked version work with it? (Reason for asking is that O2's Visual Voicemail only works with their own version of the firmware)As much input on this matter would be much appreciated because as we're going to stay with Windows devices long term now and switch all other iPhones to them also, feel free to include more technical info if necessary

    Hi
    Welcome to the Community!
At the moment Wi-Fi Calling is only available on the Lumia 640 out of the Windows devices. WiFi Calling will not be available on any other existing devices, but as we launch new devices we will confirm if they support this service.
Wi-Fi Calling is also only available on devices purchased direct from EE with the exception of the iPhone. An iPhone would just need to have Carrier 19.1 or above.
As for Visual Voicemail it is only available on iPhones. I'm doing some digging to find out if it is something that will be launched on other devices in the near future. I will let you know as soon as I get any information.
Also you mentioned you would be a business customer. Wi-Fi Calling is only currently available to Personal and Small Business customers.
    Hope this covers everything.
    Thanks.

  • EE Wifi Calling - IPhone 5s - Carrier 20.1?

    Hello,
I have been trying to enable WiFi Calling on my 5s but despite having the IOS8.3 software installed, for some reason i have carrier 20.1 rather than 19.1 as described in the EE setup instructions. My wifes IPhone 6 is up to date with IOS8.3 but has carrier 19.1 and WiFi Calling is enabled and working.
How do i get back to 19.1?
Will 20.1 be enabled for WiFi Calling ASAP?

    Hi
I've double checked and EE's latest carrier settings are definitely 19.1.
If you plug the device in iTunes and do a restore and update via iTunes this should push the correct carrier settings through.
Click here for Apple help & support.
    Hope this helps!
Let me know how you get on.
    Thanks.

IPHONE 5:  can't receive calls and random error messages, such as "could not activate cellular data network" and "no connection - network unavailable, please connect to wifi or cellular network."  This occurs even when signal strength or wifi is operational, and it does not matter whether wifi is on or off.  ATT went through the standard protocol - resetting network, resetting sim card, etc.  No changes.  Other phones working fine in same region with same carrier.  Apple's solution is to restore software, but haven't gone there yet.  Anyone successfully addressed this/these issues?

I should point out that it worked when the iPhone was set back to factory settings, but when restored with the backup, data/internet no longer works again, and I get the "Could not activate cellular data network" error message yet again.

  • On iPhone is using Fac Time the same cost as making a mobile phone call?

when using Face Time, is the cost to do this the same as the cost to make a mobile phone call? Or is the cost subtracted from the monthly data download fee? I am using Face Time on my iPhone 5C and my current phone service covers both a set Download and mobile phone calls/ month. Just wondering which is cheaper?

Other than charges for data service, there is no charge for FaceTime.

  • IPhone 6 Wifi Calling - No Verification Text/Not Working

I have an iPhone 6 and tried to enable wifi calling a few weeks ago.  Followed the process for setting it up, and everything went as it should, except I never received a message saying it was activated.  Have tried turning it on and off/restarting the phone etc several times since, however it still is not working, and I still haven't received any sort of text message to say it is activated.
The option is there and it lets me turn it on and off, but still doesn't actually do anything.Any ideas?

Give 150 a call to make sure it is active on your account, sometimes they need to give it a nudge.... There have been rare instances of a routers firewall blocking it too.

Just get into "General" -> last option is "RESET" -> Opt for "RESET NETWORK SETTINGS"
Your phone will reeboot in a couple of minutes n then get fine on with full signal on the wifi scale.
Worked perfect for me. Do try n let me know.

  • When my wifes IPhone 4 8gb receives a call the caller will hear 1 or 2 rings then the ringing stop, however if the caller stays on the line she will answer the call, the incoming rings is not interupted but the outgoing ring (from the caller) has stopped.

The incoming ring is only is only interrupted by those who are calling her, and is not affected as to when she receives the call.  Most callers feel the call has either dropped or the Iphone is not being answered.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the issue/s are occurring?

  • No 3g\wifi - Repair needed. iPhone cannot make or receive calls.

Just started getting this message on an IPAD:
"Repair needed. iPhone cannot make or receive calls. Contact Apple at www.apple.com/service."
3g and wifi is not working. The ipad has only been connected to itunes once when the device was set up so I'm worried about losing everything.
I've looked online a bit and found a bunch of users with this issue on their iphone but couldn't find many ipad users with the issue. It sounds like the only way to make it work is to "restore" it or get a new one. "restore" means factory reset? Will I be able to back up everything first?
I may try upgrading the device to ios 4 first.
Anyone else encounter this issue and know how to fix it?

Strangely it started working on it's own after a few days. Then I connected it to itunes, created a backup, and upgraded to 3.22. Of course it quit working on vacation then started working again when I was on my way home. I guess I better bring my laptop next time in case it acts up again. Too bad ipad and iphones are tied down and require a PC.

  • IPhone 4 Wifi Calling

So is there any way to make Wifi calling with the iPhone ?
If you tell me download an app then this company seriously needs to rethink their hardware/software. I live on an army base... the signal out here is...well its a mythical creature lets say.
I have wifi in my room, however that doesnt seem to give me the ability to make phone calls.
If anyone knows a FREE APP thats actually worth my time not netTALK because its terrible.
AND not one that costs me per minute.. why would i even get a phone if i have to pay per min to make phone calls on my phone with a 3rd party app?
Anyways im venting becausei  came from android and im anything but impressed.

I didnt make the switch because i wanted to. Trust me. And yes i am venting, on a community server rather then waste the time of techs with complaints they cant/wont fix
Long story short i had no service with Tmobile i switched to ATT they said id be covered. Im not, i used to use wifi calling which was nice, i dont even have that now. The price is sugnifficantly less however now im paying for  a fancy expencive alarm clock.
I expected wifi calling to be included since im paying for wifi.. Idk just a thought maybe its unreasonable.
something bout 20$ a month to check my bank account sounds kinda weird. anyways if u think im venting, and you have something nasty to say, need not respond. I was just coming here to look for an anwser without bothering the apple people if at all nessisary.
    I will look at MobileVOIP.
Ill be sure not to get an iphone in the future now that i know the basics dont come standard like on every other phone ive had.
