IOS8 podcast app stuck updating library

I transferred my girlfriends old iPhone 4 (iOS6)  for to a newer 4s.  Did a backup, restored new iPhone 4s that was operating iOS8 and installed from a backup of the old phone.
Everything seems OK except that the podcast app says updating library for about 30 seconds then the app crashes.  I have seen solutions that suggest uninstalling the podcast app then re-installing, but I don't think you can uninstall the podcast app in iOS8.
Any suggestions?

I was in the same boat and just tried something that worked.... (iPhone 4S, iOS 8.1)
First I bought another podcast app and tried to import my library, which didn't work. Hopefully buying another app has nothing to do with my podcast app working now
So I started searching for my podcasts by name and couldn't find one. Went to Safari and looked it up and tried to subscribe via the website...suddenly my Apple podcast library re-opened for business.
Hope that helps someone!

  • Aperture 3 - stuck "Updating Library" Processing images

My Aperture 3 Library says it is Updating Library Processing 93,182 items. It gets stuck at 268 of 93,182 and stops. If I try to Export anything the Activity Monitor shows it is processing the Export, however nothing happens.
I have to Force Quit at this stage and then open Aperture.
I have tried the Option + Command on open and done all three options, however this does not seem to fix it.
This may also have something to do with not being able to view all of my images in iWeb photo browser.
    Any Suggestions?
On importing my Aperture 2 library I did a complete re-build of it and made sure it was as clean as possible.
    Thank you

I have fixed this problem....for now at least, I deleted A3 renamed library folders and system folders and anything else I could find that said aperture, then did another install and it all seems to work again and it kept all my adjustments etc...so I obviously didn't rename everything! Of course I did a superduper backup first, I was just so pi@#ed off with it not working. I manually down loaded the updates and have opened and closed several times and it still works. It did however work fine when I first installed it so I won't be surprised if it stuffs up again. Anyway at least it is working for now. hope this helps

  • Stuck updating library

    Hi,
I am updating all my libraries from FCX 10.09 to 10.1.1 and one of them is stuck.  It's been sitting at "Updating name of the new library... Loading name of project"
It's been stuck like this for 45min now.  I am not sure what I need to do to get this fixed.  Any ideas?

It sounds like you have a corrupted project.
These are admittedly long shots, but if you want to try…
If you still have the project and event files intact from the earlier  version, you could try promoting the back up project file and replacing the existing current version with the BU.
Or if you have a Time Machine you may be able to restore from a version prior.

  • Update process stuck "Updating library"

So, I have a large database (~400GB--been meaning to split it out into smaller dbs for a while but haven't taken the time to figure out how to yet). Tried to update it last night, and after the initial 10 step update process which went by after a few minutes, saw an error that there were inconsistencies and that Aperture needed to restart. I clicked ok, but it never restarted and instead began to update my library picture by picture. It's been stopped at 27649 of 130340 for a long time now, and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do. Activity monitor doesn't show any life (1.1 percent of CPU constantly and no change in RAM usage). I know people have said not to force quit, but I'm not seeing another option here. But even if I do force quit, I'm not sure what my next steps should be.

With 130,000 images in your library, and the fact that Aperture is using CPU (albeit a small amount), my suggestion is to wait another 12 hours or so, if you can afford to. If you force quit, you'll be doing more work down the road and it will take just as long.

  • Ipad apps stuck updating

I have an ipad2, while it was updating the applications it lost it's internet connection.   Now that the internet connection has been restored it won't restart updating, all the applications that were updating now say "waiting..." and won't start.  I try to download a new application and it has the same problem.  I can't seem to get the applications to update.   Of course the applications won't run stuck in an "waiting..." state.

I don't think that was it.   I deleted all the applications which were trying to update and performed a restore from an backup.  Then I was able to find in the purchased application store the applications I had deleted and re-installed them just fine.   Something went wrong with the download process when it was interrupted and it was unable to re-start.   Looks like an OS bug to me.

  • Podcast app not loading any content  after ios8.2 update

I recently got a new MBP and have finally been able to update my old 4s from ios6.0.1 to ios8.2.
The new look is nice, some of the features are better but I have not been able to get my podcast app to load any podcast at all.  It hangs on the "updating library" and then crashes!  I went into the podcast section on iTunes and clicked on the ones that I want and nothing at al loads.  I have only 4.8gb of free space, I know it's not much but something should load!
Am I missing something......I'm assuming that it works the way it used to where it isn't actually downloading the content but would just stream it.  Or do I need to download them to my MBP then sync?
The new iOS is nice but it's very bloated for the older/smaller devices and I find my battery drains a lot quicker than it used to.

    Hi greg h,
The first thing I would suggest is to try to stream a podcast with the Podcasts app for iOS.  This will not take up any space on your iPhone 4s, and should not require any updates to your iTunes library.  Click on the link below for additional information regarding downloading podcasts directly to your iPhone or syncing with iTunes.
Podcasts app for iOS: Stream, download, and subscribe to podcasts - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201859
With Podcasts for iOS, you can stream or download podcasts over a Wi-Fi or a cellular network. You can also subscribe to podcasts that you listen to or watch regularly. Podcasts for iOS even lets you subscribe to password-protected podcasts.
    What you'll need
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with the latest version of iOS
    Podcasts app for iOS
    Wi-Fi or cellular internet connection
You don't need to be signed in with your Apple ID to play or download podcasts, but you will if you want to sync your podcasts.
    Streaming
You can stream podcast episodes you don't want to be stored on your iOS device. Your iOS device will need a continuous internet connection when you choose to stream.
Browse or Search for a podcast.
Tap a podcast to view details.
Tap the name of an episode you want to play.
The podcast episode will begin playing. If you allow Podcasts to use cellular data (under Settings > Podcasts), streamed podcasts of any size will play.
    Cheers,

  • HT3281 Podcasts disappeared from iTunes library and iPhone podcast app.

All of my Podcast subscriptions and content suddenly disappeared from my iTunes library and from the Podcast app on my iPhone.  Checked iTunes to make sure it's running the latest version of software, and it is.  Music library appears to be OK.  How do I fix this and get my podcasts back?

This just happened to me this morning. I sat down to update my podcasts, and discovered that every podcast I was subscribed to that had any recent episodes (I'm thinking since the first of this year, but no way to tell a definite date for sure) had disappeared. When my iPhone synced, they disappeared from it, as well. I looked them up in the iTunes Store podcast directory, and had to resubscribe to every one of them. And some of them only make a limited number of old episodes available in iTunes, so I've lost some without ever getting to listen to them.
    *** Apple? This is nonsense!

  • Ipad mini apps not updating after ios8.2 update

apps not updating after software update ios8.2 on ipaD MINI WITH RETINA SCREEN

Turn off any auto-update, if it is on, then tap any of the "circle icons" showing that a download is in progress, in order to stop the download. Then go to the Settings and reset the Network Settings. After the iPad starts back up, then check to make sure no apps are currently in progress of downloading. If any are, stop them again, and reset the network settings again. When it starts up again, none should be in the process of downloading. Then from that point forward, only download manually and never more than two at a time. If it is more than 100 MB, then do only one at a time. If any gets stuck at that point, then stop the download and reset the Network settings.
That should take care of you for now. We'll see what another update brings ... IOS 8.2 (which might be the next one).

  • TS1702 i have 14 apps stuck in updating mode on ipad have tried to restart several times. they have been stuck for a week now

I have 14 updates that have been "stuck" updating for a week now. I have tried to restart update several times. I have tried toe restart ipad several times. I have the latest ios software udate.  I have tried to pause and restart the apps individually. any ideas????

    1. Check iTunes and see if you have a pending/stalled download e.g. Podcast, Books, Music, Movies or iTune U. Finish off the download and you should be able to update.
    2. Connect iTune; and Check for available download (under Store). When download is completed, sync to iPad.

  • Ios8   apps wont update

As a late convert  to Apple I am unimpressed.
I own an IPad it started life with IOS5   it has been updated regularly and was last running IOS 7. then Apple advised that IOS8 was available and advised me to update. Foolishly I did.
I have 8 Apps awaiting update and this cant be done for whatever reason IOS 8 and its patches have killed them off, the apps attempt to update but keep searching which rapidly runs down the battery. Google now hangs or doesn't return to the main page and the device is as slow as. Has anyone got any suggestions as to how to overcome this mess.
I was considering another Apple purchase but that is on hold now Apple appear to have become as mercenary as Microsoft by producing software that doesn't function.

    Hey there Steamboat14,
It sounds like you are unable to use 3rd party music apps on your phone after you udpated to iOS 8. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article for each app affected in this way, named:
iOS: An app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open
    Restart the app
Close the app and open it again.
    Restart your device
Turn the device off and on.
Update your device software and your apps
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
    Update your apps:
Open the App Store and tap Updates.
If updates are available, tap Update All.
If asked, enter your Apple ID password. The updates will download and install.
You might need a Wi-Fi connection to update some apps.Reinstall the app
Remove the app from your device and reinstall it. Remember that deleting an app also deletes its data.
    Delete the app.
    Press the Home button.
Go to the App Store and download the app again.
Wait for the app to download, then open it from the Home screen.
If the download stops, you can resume it.Contact the developer
If you see the issue again, contact the developer of the app for help:
Find the app in the App Store.
Tap the app and tap Reviews.
    Tap App Support.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Podcast app v. 2.0.1 update released today, but still not working

Several months ago, I purchased two new iOS devices and have not been able to use Podcasts on either device. I spoke with a level 2 Apple tech support specialist over the course of several days trying to resolve the issues and he eventually concluded that the bugs were in the programming and said he would pass the information along to the engineers.
After many months of being unable to use Podcasts, I was excited to see a new update for the Podcast app.  Unfortunately, it appears the major issues plaguing the app have not been addressed.
Is anyone else able to get this app to work reliably?  I try copying/syncing podcasts, and you can watch them copy over and see them displayed in iTunes, but they do not display in the Podcast app on the device.
Can anyone else confirm this behavior? Is there any procedure that will get the app working correctly? I have tried removing all podcasts, as well as removing, redownloading, reinstalling the Podcast app, but so far no good. Is there a third party app that will allow me to play podcasts under iOS 7.0.4?

I have managed to get the Podcast app to work somewhat reliably as follows. Note I haven't tried 2.0.1 yet so I don't know if they broke it further (if that's even possible) -- or perhaps they will buck the current Apple trend and actually fix something.
    1. Forget synching with iTunes -- it's completely broken. I subscribe to the podcasts on iTunes but don't download on iTunes. Subscribing on iTunes is useful because it doesn't seem to "lose" episodes the way the Podcast app does, so when the Podcast app loses episodes (discussed below) I can still see them on iTunes so I can retrieve them again.
    2. I subscribe to all my podcasts in the Podcast app. I set them to download automatically and keep all unplayed. I leave the sort and play options at the default of Sort Newest On Top and Play Oldest First.
    3. I don't use My Stations except for On-The-Go when I want to listen to episodes from different podcasts -- just add each episode to OTG in the order you want to listen to them.
    4. If I have multiple episodes of a single podcast I want to listen to, I just open it in My Podcasts and start the oldest one playing and they will play in the proper order.
    5. You can stream a podcast on iTunes -- that seems to work, and it may even remember the playback position. When I'm at home I Air Play to my Apple TV from my iPhone.
    6. The Podcast app will sometimes discard unplayed downloaded podcasts. Resetting the iPhone usually triggers this but sometimes a simple power off+on will do it as well.  To get them back, you need to open each podcast in My Podcasts and tap the Add Old Episodes. Lo and behold there are the "disappeared" podcasts still marked as unplayed. Just add each one back and it download again.

  • Podcasts no longer appear under ipod device in I tunes library.  I can access podcasts on my ipod but I CANNOT access podcasts on I tunes library.  I have disconnected and reconnected.  I have restored my ipod.  I have checked for updates. What else?

'Podcasts' under Ipod device disappeared in Itunes library.  I can't manage my podcasts on ipod via I tunes library.  I can access the podcasts on my ipod (5th generation), itself. I can access and manage music.   I can add more podcasts to ipod.  The podcast icon reappears with only the newly added podcasts.   When I disconnect ipod and reconnect ipod, 'podcasts' no longer appears under the device.  So I am unable to manage my podcasts on I tunes library which means I can't delete podcasts from I tunes library.  I can only add podcasts. I have disconnected and reconnected ipod.  I have checked for updates.  I have restored the ipod to it's original settings.  My next step will be to install and reinstall I tunes.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

To be clear, the podcast icon disappeared under Ipod device in Itunes.  I can access and manage the podcasts in the itunes library.  I can't manage podcasts on my ipod via itunes (which means I can't delete podcasts from my ipod). I can access podcasts on my ipod, itself.

  • After iOS 8.3 update, apps stuck on OPEN on App Store Updates page

Did the iOS 8.3 update by backing up my iPad Mini in iTunes then doing a "Restore". I did that with the last update and all went fine. This time, it appears to have gone well except that I had some apps that had updates pending after the Restore. After doing the updates, when I go to the App Store "Updates" page, I still have 4 of my apps listed there with the button option set to OPEN. On the upper right corner it says "Updated August 18, 2015". Yesterday when I did the update was Saturday April 25, 2015 - go figure. When I tap them they all open but they never leave the page. One post said to wait until an app had a valid update pending and see what happens after I update it, so I'll need to wait to see if that works. I have searched this community and tried all suggestions: changed the date set to manual and push it out over 30 days. That did not work. Did a reset. No luck. I even did another "Restore" thinking maybe that would resolve it, but they came right back. The puzzling thing is that in all of my searching, I have found apps stuck in differing states of "waiting" or "downloading", but none of them have mentioned seeing the apps with the OPEN option visible. I did delete the apps and that made them go away, but I'd prefer to keep them. Any suggestions would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks in advance...slog

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • My podcast is updated in the store, but for some reason won't update to my Podcasts App or to my subscriptions in iTunes. Can anyone tell me why?

I've been producing a podcast for a while now, and just recently had this problem. I've updated the rss feed and loaded new episodes to the podcast, but for some reason the episodes are showing up in the iTunes store when you search for the podcast, but the "Podcasts" app on my iPhone isn't updating, and neither is my subscription to the podcast in my iTunes software.
Can anyone tell me my why the store has my latest episodes, but my subscriptions don't update and add them?

That is the correct feed URL.
The title for the episode of 4th February has an ampersand ('&') in it. You can't have an ampersand in an XML file such as a feed because it indicates the start of a code sequence which is never completed, thus rendering the entire feed unreadable in same readers. I'm surprised that the Store is coping with it  - evidently the programming recognizes that it's within a tag; the iTunes application, which is a different program, isn't and so is showing no episodes as it can't read the feed.
You need either to replace the ampersand with the code
    &
    or the word 'and'.

  • Apps stuck in waiting after updating on iOS 7.0.2

Since i updated my iPad 2 to iOS 7.0.2 i have this persistent problem, I tried everything to make it normal but it never happens.
After i update an App on my iPad throught the AppStore on the iPad this problem occurs.
    1. Eventhough the update is complete the app gets stuck in "waiting... " state
    2. However the App opens through the AppStore on the iPad
Above are few of the apps stuck in waiting and they have a Open button adjacent to them.
Notice that iBooks is on waiting... however i can open it through the app store.
    and use it normally.
Only solution which works as of now is to delete the apps from settings on the iPad and install them again from the Appstore, but then i'd loose all the data i previously have.
I have no Idea why this is happening. I cannot open the stuck apps directly by taping them i have to go through the AppStore. Please help.
PS: You cannot uninstall app by long tapping it because the X mark does not appear on the app.

    Try a reset ...
    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
