IP address error

Just set up a new Airport Extreme to replace an old one.  Internet works fine on main Mac desktop but when I try to log on with another device I get an error message that states my IP address is being used by another user.  Any thoughts?

Thanks, this is what I found as well. There are several different ways to set up this modem. We will try the simplest.
First, please perform a Factory Default Reset to get the AirPort Extreme back to original new settings as follows:
Pull the power plug from the back of the AirPort Extreme (AEBS)
Wait a few minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding the reset button in for another 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the AEBS
Release the reset button after the hold button and allow 25-30 seconds for the AEBS to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Connect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port (circle of dots icons) on the AEBS
On your Mac, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Continue to follow the guided setup. You can use the same names and password that you used before or setup new items.
Page 1....enter a name for the AEBS and device password
Page 2....select "Create a wireless network"
Page 3....enter a name for the wireless network and password
Page 4....select the option to "Share a single IP address...."
Page 5.....Configure IPv4 Using DHCP. No other entries are needed
Page 6.....Review and update to save settings
If you see a message about "Double NAT", click Ignore
Allow 25-30 second for the AEBS to restart
Then power off the modem, AEBS, computers, etc
Wait a moment
Start the modem first and let it run a minute by itself
Start the AEBS and let it run a moment
Start other device the same way
You should now be able to connect the Mac to one of the LAN ports on the AEBS using an Ethernet connection or look for the name of the wireless network that you setup, enter the password and log on.

  • Why am I suddenly receiving the message: 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 501-"5.1.8 Bad sender's system address" I am only getting it for Mozilla Thunderbird

In the past three days, whenever I send a message, it does not go through. Instead, I get the message: 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 501- "5.1.8 Bad sender's system address". I tried downloading the newest version of Thunderbird but it did not work. I do not receive this message when using other software.

I had the look that you suggested. As far as I can tell there are no problems with the user name. Maybe I should check with my email company, Cogeco?

  • Address error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: SMTP_E_MAILBOX_UNAVAILABLE_2(550)

    Hi,
Due to problems with the Report Server, I had to reinstall the Crystal Reports Server XI.  I had copied previous job description into word before reinstalling.  When I was  rescheduling reports I keep getting address errors.
I noticed that the description is different compared to the previous installation.  In the previous installation, I had the description "Mail the instance to 'xxx#xxx.com.au', 'bbb#xxx.com.au' with a subject of '%SI_NAME%'.
In the new installation, the description is  "Mail the instance to "[xxx#xxx.com.au, bbb#xxx.com.au]" with a subject of '%SI_NAME%'.  It seems that the new installation added square brackets around the emails I entered, which was "xxx#xxx.com.au; bbb#xxx.com.au" (without quotes).
How can I get Crystal reports server to recognise the email properly?
PS: the at symbol is replaced with "#" due to limitations of adding email addresses.
    regards
    Frank Neo

    Hi Kyle,
I would suggest testing on the Job Server machine by using telnet to see if you can email externally from the command prompt.  Below is a link of how to use mailman:
    http://www.yuki-onna.co.uk/email/smtp.html
Are you able to schedule the report externally without an attachment?  I would also suggest speaking to your Exchange Server administrator.  There may be logs or restrictions for outgoing emails set on the mail server.

    Wallie

  • Address error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: SMTP_E_MAILBOX_UNAVAILABLE(550)

    Hi,
On a weekly basis we are emailing a file to Vendor. I have set this up to send automatically from the BOXI scheduler but every time we run it, it fails with an SMTP error which appears to suggest it cannot find the mailbox. Vendor assures me the email address is correct.
Could you please let me know if you have any idea on the error.

    Address error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: SMTP_E_MAILBOX_UNAVAILABLE_2(550)
    Many Thanks,

    Hi Madhu,
Typicall this happens when there is either an invalid email address or the SMTP server can not be reached.
There are a couple kbase articles on this issue you may want to check out:

  • AnyConnect client no assigned address error

I am trying to set up the AnyConnect client (v2.4.0196) and when it tries to connect it fails with a no assigned address error. I look in the logs of the ASA and see a No IPv6 address available for SVC connection. IPv6 is disabled on the ASA.
Does anyone know how to prevent the AnyConnect client from trying to get an IPv6 address?
    Thanks in advance...

Note that 2.4 is still beta, 2.3.2016 is the latest supported release today.
Having said that, I rather suspect an ASA issue than a client issue. Can you confirm whether or not an ipv4 address is assigned?
I.e. is there something in the logs like:
    Oct 13 2009 09:05:55: %ASA-6-737026: IPAA: Client assigned 192.168.0.1 from local pool
Oct 13 2009 09:05:55: %ASA-6-737006: IPAA: Local pool request succeeded for tunnel-group 'DefaultWEBVPNGroup'
(note these are level 6 messages)

If I perform a new email, it is possible to send.

    Hi,
Which type of email account are you using?
Have you checked this issue from web access?
If the email address is saved as a contact in your Outlook, please try to delete it and then try to reply to the email to test if the problem persists.
If you are connected to an Exchange server, please have a look at this KB article and check if it helps:

  • Mail's behavior on encountering an address error in sending to a group

I routinely send to a group of 100+ addees, broken into three sub-groups because of ISP (Comcast) anti-spam limits on the number of addees.
Several times I have gotten the error message that something is wrong with an address and the post remains in the OutBox.
I have found the error and corrected it but do not know if
    (a) the correctly addressed emails were sent and only the one with the error was held for correction and subsequent sending, or
    (b) only the one with the error was held and the others trashed, or
    (c) they were all held until the error was corrected and all were then sent, or
    (d) none of the above.
I have some inkling that (b) is what happened but I can find no way to determine what Mail actually does upon encountering an address error or what I should do. The programmers must have devised a strategy and I'd appreciate knowing it.
Can someone help me with the logic and what to do when such an error occurs?
BTW, I am using Smart Groups and they seem to work flawlessly if I don't make an error in an address!
    Thanks in advance...

dual 2GHz G5 PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Plain vanilla computing..

    Ernie, David,
Thank you for the info. I now know that a message addressed to a group is "all or nothing at all," i.e., if one address is incorrect (in my first case, a "." where an "@" should be) everything stops until the error is corrected and then all messages are sent.
There was a second error of a nother nature in another group (about which I can't remember the details, but it was an obvious typo) that generated a different error message (I should have copied both!) and when I cleared it everything also seemed to be sent.
It seems Mail is deliberately designed to be tolerant of us mortals, giving us a chance to correct a hitherto unknown error and then going about its business. Nice design.
I'll let you know if I run into other problems. And you can be sure I'll be more careful when importing addresses into Mail.
Thank you very much for your kind help.
    All the best,
    Bill

  • Holding down "shift" during startup causes an "address error" with a prompt

while booting from a dedicated OS 9.2.2 drive,...
holding down "shift" during startup causes an "address error" with a prompt to restart holding the shift button,...
    an ideas,....?
it otherwise starts up fine normally,....
with spacebar depressed everything good too,.... into extensions manager...
but booting with extensions off causes that address error crash just before desktop is to appear,...
    hmmm,.... ideas,....?
    thanx

Well, address error means it's getting an odd addy somehow, and if it's with Extensions off, then maybe a PRAM or NVRAM reset would cure it...
Have you done a PRAM reset...

So, when I want click on Effects -> Animation Presets -> Text -> and use the animations in there, I would have the error of After Effects Invalid Table Address Error 83 :: 2. I'm using Adobe After Effects 2014.2 Release Version 13.2.0.49
Other of my adobe products are working fine, even media encoder and premiere pro.

Sounds like you have a corrupted font. Try changing the font in the Text Panel to something common like Arial before you add text. If that doesn't work examine your font list for some odd fonts.

  • Hardware Address error/warning

anyone ever see this during a setup?
WARNING: Hardware address cc:cc:cc:dd:dd:dd trying to be our address 192.168.10.10
I'm setting up a T2000 and going through newtwork setup, but on boot up I get that error/warning.
    any thoughts?

    That's a network configuration issue.
    A generic IP address conflict.
As it states, there's another computer on your subnet that's already using that IP.
A Google search with "hardware address trying to be " keywords gets you 4,180,000+ results on this issue.
Pick a different IP for your new system,
or find that other system and have it use a different IP.
