IP address lost after reboot

hello,
When I reboot the Sun box and run "ifconfig -a" qfe0 shows no IP and I cannot ping it.
I dont know what is going wrong?

I have never worked with the V210, so I can't say for certain whether it should or should not have a bge interface. So consider this response to be more of a general response.
Sun is somewhat notorious in my experience for changing network interfaces between revisions of the same system. The fact that it "should" have a bge interface doesn't mean anything.
You can confirm that the system has defined a bge interface with the following command:
grep \"bge\" /etc/path_to_inst
If you do get a result, the final column is the instance number. If you don't get a result then you either don't have a bge interface or the operating system for whatever reason doesn't support it. (Too early a version to know about bge? Perhaps Sun dropped support in newer Solaris versions?)

  • HKLM Permissions lost after reboot

    Hello All.
I have a need to give the Everyone group full control over the root HKLM hive of the registry. I have used the RegEdit GUI and the regini command to grant full control to the Everyone group for the HKLM Key and Subkeys. However, once I reboot the workstation,
the permissions have reverted back to the original.
The local administrators group is the owner of the HKLM key, and I am logged in as a member of this group when making the permission changes. I have UAC disabled, and have tried regedt32.exe > Run as Administrator and cmd.exe > Run as Administrator,
and I can set and confirm the permission changes with error, but the changes are lost after reboot. No AV is installed.
Does anyone have any clue what I am missing here?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
I cannot repro such issue on my computer. This should be something wrong during restarting or the admin account.
If you have any other admin account, please log on with it and try to grant the permission you would like to see what’s going on.
To make sure that other program reset permission during restarting, please test this issue when booting into Safe mode and let me know the results.
If the issue still persists in safe mode, please help to collect the boot trace for further research.

  • ITunes settings lost after reboot

I have a problem where after a reboot the settings of iTunes are back to default. For example:
    it loses the account for the Store (I have to re-enter email address and password);
it loses the wifi sync settings for my devices
it shows the iTunes tutorials screen, as if I'm starting iTunes for the first time
    settings under preferences are lost
    Other things are not lost:
    the library is still there;
iTunes remembers the devices (when connecting it is handled as a known device) and knows what playlists/apps/.. to sync with it.
Since I'm not rebooting my Windows 7 PC a lot, the problem is not occuring a lot, it doesn't keep me from using iTunes, it is just annoying. Now after rebooting I decided it's enough and I would post the issue (since I can't seem to find a comparable issue).
Also worthwile noticing is that the problem is already there for some time, though I can't exactly pinpoint anymore when it started. Possible when iTunes 9 or 10 were realeased.
    Now I'm using:
Windows 7 64-bit (completly up to date)
    iTunes 10.5.2.11

  • German umlaute lost after reboot

The strange behaviour is that, after rebooting the linux server where the application is running, german umlaute are lost. If the application is reinstalled umlaute are shown as long as no reboot occurs. There was no problem with this when jre122 was used, problem arised with jre142. The data are read from a mysql database.

It seems that I have solved the problem with the character set. It's not really something that I understand but it works: I have changed the startup script that is used in /etc/init.d/rc5 to start the server. I changed the shell for the script. It was not working when I used #/bin/bash or #/bin/sh but it works when I use #/bin/csh.

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2 - Linux Guest VLAN Settings lost after reboot

    Hi Guys,
last night a have seen a strange behavior with a Sophos UTM 9.204020 Linux Guest VM. (This VM is based on SUSE SLES v11? i think)
So i have Setup this in my home lab and experienced the same problem.
    ----Setup-----
    2 External VM Switches
Management OS is on VLAN 4093 with IP 192.168.20.1
The guest network adapter is in Trunk Mode, VLAN Tag (4093) is set in the guest OS with IP 192.168.20.100
Everything works until you kick off a reboot from the guest or hyper-v console, after the reboot you loose the connectivity on the network adapter with the vlan trunk.
If you shutdown the guest and start it everthing works again - this happens only on reboot!!
I have tried diffrent things (static mac, enable disable hardware features (vmq/offloading etc) on the vm network adapter but always the same error.
After some search on the net i have found this article: Link
This guy has the same problem with another linux vm (based on debian) his workaround was to trigger a powershell script with the eventlog after reboot of the vm, this works for me too but this must be bug?
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

    Hi Andre,
I would suggest you to install the supported Linux guest OS on hyper-v , please refer to following link:

  • Airport WEP keeps getting lost after reboot

Every time I reboot the WEP connection is lost.
How can I set this up so it stays after a reboot and connects automatically?
    Thanks

Delete the WAP from your list of preferred networks and also delete it from your keychain using Keychain Access. Then re-add. I had to do this for bith a WPA and a WPA2 access point. Funny thing is that after upgrading to 10.4.8 it took two days for the WPA account to start misbehaving and another 4 days till the WPA2 one started dropping. Deleting completely and re-adding them fixed it both times.

  • Wireless keyboard name does not stick, connection lost after reboot/restart

I know this topic has been addressed many times but I might have additional info to this.
I tried to rename my wireless keyboard. The name stays as long as I only let the computer sleep.
As soon as I do a restart/reboot and the connection is lost again, it's name is set back to the old name.
This might be related to the reason why it looses it's connection over and over again.
Does anyone know where this "name" is stored? There must be a plist file or something somewhere where the name is kept, maybe that's the file which is corrupt and must be deleted.
I also was wondering if it is possible to "reboot" the keyboard itself, maybe this setting is stored on the keyboard itself and it cannot properly maintain it.. that might be a reason why for some users the keyboard replacement has helped.
    Michael

So, the same problem occurred and in a relatively shorter time than before. I began to think that something is causing this problem.
My theory is that it is a VMWare software issue. What I've been doing differently recently is using it in "Unity" mode as opposed to "Full Screen" mode. My guess is that the program is modifying my wireless permissions and screwing it all up.
So, what I've done is set the "Network Adapter" to "Host-Only". This denies the VMWare program internet access but still allows file sharing between the Windows virtual environment and the Mac hard drive.
Then I had to re-install Mac OS X all over again to fix the wireless settings/permissions mess.

  • [Solved] Catalyst Control Center settings lost after reboot

    Hi
After having a working desktop I decided not to use xinerama because it wouldn't work with the composite extension. So i decided to start from scratch. After following the wiki on making a dual-head setup in my xorg.conf file it kind of worked (cloned display 1280x1024). I changed settings in ccc and all was perfect (Big desktop 3200x1080). But then after restarting all ccc configuration was lost.
    xorg.conf:

    And here is the log:

I just realized that I wont need to be able to drag windows between screens. heh
I got it mostly right now. It's just that my second screen is black. You can move the mouse there but thats it. I will keep on working.
    My .xinitrc
    cat .xinitrc
    #!/bin/sh
    # ~/.xinitrc
    # Executed by startx (run your window manager from here)
    if [ -d /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d ]; then
    for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/*; do
    [ -x "$f" ] && . "$f"
    done
    unset f
    fi
    setxkbmap -layout se
    exec awesome
    The xorg.conf.d should be untouched
    sudo ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
    10-evdev.conf 50-joystick.conf 50-vmmouse.conf
    10-quirks.conf 50-synaptics.conf
The main issue and reason I started over was that Composite wouldn't work when xinerama was enabled.

  • Input sources CONSTANTLY lost after reboot!!!

Since installing Yosemite (currently on 10.10.2, as per "About this Mac"), almost every time I restart, reboot, or simply turn off and then on my computer, I lose all my input sources. This is particularly annoying, as I work in humanities and constantly use about 8 different keyboards. Can something be done about this, for heaven's sake? I remember this happening on extremely rare occasions before (usually after the computer froze and had to be rebooted), but this seems to be a major problem since I installed Yosemite.
    Many thanks in anticipation!

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application System Preferences.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • [GNOME3] Volume Balance Lost After Reboot

    Hello!
I'm using GNOME3 on a fully updated Arch x64 installation. After every reboot, the volume balance has shifted to the right. I have to enter the sound settings, output, and then restore the balance slider to the center.
The problem has been with me for some weeks now but I rarely reboot so I haven't suffered from it that much. However, now I am required to dual boot with Windows, and thus, this problem gets really annoying...
Any tips for what I could try? I have of course searched the Internet (including this forum).

I don't run Gnome, so this might not work, but try this.
Once you have your volume/balance set the way you like, do (as root) from a terminal:
    $ alsactl store
(If you have more than one sound card, you may need to specify that also, see the man page for alsactl.)
This will save your sound card settings to the file /etc/asound.state.
In your rc.conf, add 'alsa' to the DAEMONS line. This will run the script /etc/rc.d/alsa at start up which will run the command
    /usr/sbin/alsactl restore
which loads the values from /etc/asound.state into the sound card, thus restoring your settings.
It is likely that Gnome may set the sound card some other way, and unfortunately, I can't help you in that case.

  • Library Lost After Reboot

My Mac Pro intermittently cannot find its iTunes library after a system reboot.
I suspect this may have something to do with the fact that my library is stored on an external FireWire volume; it seems like after a reboot iTunes starts asking for the library before the Finder's finished fretting and checking over all my peripherals. If iTunes would just hold its horses until everything was properly mounted there would be no issue.
Is there any hope for me, or do I keep having to send my kids upstairs to re-jigger iTunes when I want to watch the AppleTV?
    Any tips appreciated.
(2012 Mac Pro 12-core, 32 GB RAM, Mountain Lion, current iTunes
External volume is Western Digital 3TB connected via FireWire-400)

If you have a bootable external drive, then purchase and download Disk Warrior-4 on to the external. Review the documentation and run the program to rebuild the directory on your affected (internal) drive. No guarantees here, although this is a viable approach.

  • BEFW11S4 wireless connection lost after reboot / sleeping

I am using the linksys wireless router BEFW11S4 version 4, firmware version 1.5, to connnect two winXP computers, one a desktop (wired) and one a laptop (wireless).
The wireless connection was created using the EasyLink Advisor software (support.linksys.com).  The wireless connection made by this software to my laptop has no signal strength problems.  A wired connection to my laptop also has no problems.
However, if a wireless connection is made, it is broken when my laptop is restarted or sleeps (power saving mode).  The sysTray indicates a wireless connection that has "limited or no connectivity".  I cannot browse the internet.  The EasyLink advisor automatically detects a problem and prompts ot repair it.  Though after a few steps the EasyLink Advisor indicates that a "wireless connection failed to be made", the sysTray shows a healthy connection, and it becomes possible to browse at this point.
I'm hoping to make a connection that doesn't need to be re-established every time I leave my computer.  Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Carrot, thanks very much for your message. I tried updating the "firmware" -- is that what you meant by drivers?
By following the instructions at http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4030&lid=7771778881B05,
I upgraded the firmware which involved performing a factory reset on the router, and re-establishing the network using the EasyLink Advisor.
All of the steps were carried out easily according to the instructions and there were no hitches or exceptions. The wireless connection made was strong and usable. At this time I added my second (desktop) computer which has a wired connection, by following the "add another computer" wizard in EasyLink Advisor.
This completed the re-setup of my network with new firmware.
I then restarted my wireless laptop, and, unfortunately, the connection was lost, as usual.
    any other suggestions?
    Thanks again!

  • Soundblaster ROAR Mac USB Connection Lost After Reboot

I am using the device on my Mac. I currently connect it via USB, but also ran into the problem with Bluetooth. I set up the device for sound in System Preferences and everything works correctly. However, if I reboot the computer, the Mac is not seeing the device and won't reconnect via USB. I have to go back hit the Play/Pause button to connect it again via USB.
This is obviously frustrating. Is there a way to solve this problem? My Mac is running Yosemite 10.10.2.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi jwt0001,
As with any electronic devices, especially those with built-in batteries, leaving them connected to your PC or electrical socket that is always turned is not good for your battery. Although batteries these days have special circuitry to cut power off once it has reached its full charge, such practice can diminish your battery's lifespan/charging cycle. If your Sound Blaster Roar is connected to your PC and it is occasionally switched off from time to time, this should not be a huge problem.
It is a normal behavior for Bluetooth devices to take a second or two to wake up when audio begins since it needs to re-connect to its last paired connection. I've yet to observe this when connected via USB.
Personally, I pair my Roar to my phone via Bluetooth; I usually turn on the speaker, turn on Bluetooth to connect and start playing music. It does take a couple seconds to do this each time but is not so much of a hiccup for me.
    Cheers,
    Colin-CL
