IP Address or sender did not respond messages

I am on Tiger and my mother in law is on Leopard, both are Macbooks. She is the only person I cannot video chat with. The errors come up either Invalid IP address or that I (when calling her) did not respond. On her end it says that I cancelled the connection. I thought it was her router, etc, but today I was at my folks (Leopard Macbook) and rang her for a video chat and it worked fine?! I can video fine with others with Leopard and Tiger, it is only her that it doesn't seem to want to work...any would would be awesome!! Thanks

Tell us about how she connects to the Internet ?
If she is wireless and Ethernet she can get this Problem
AS can having a Modem that routes and a router both doing DHCP
As Can using Parallels to run Windows and sharing the Mac Ip

  • User did not respond message...

I'm trying to set up my iSight at home, I have a wireless network, with my airport connected to a broadband router.
My colleague has the same set-up and we always get the same error message. When you try to create a video chat it freezes and says my computer did not respend (computer user name), not my iChat user name... Is this a problem with the airport & router???? all software etc is most up to date versions.
We tested the iSights at out studio on a fixed network with firewall and they were fine!!

When I am at my home office (with wireless network - airport extreme with broadband router), our iSights work fine. This is true if we use Bonjour or the Buddy list via internet. However, once I go away from this location and to another office ( (with wireless network - Linksys - broadband router), the iSight function does not work. iChat will allow us to communicate via text messages but not video. Evertime either of us tries to log in using the Buddy List, an attempt will be made (for a moment it acts like it will connect) at the other location; then returns a statement that the other person declined the offer to sign on.
When I contacted Apple, they say that it is a firewall issue and that I should read and implement the actions in: Using iChat AV with a firewall or NAT router. However, I cannot implement this procedure since I cannot get a new firewall setting to come up. It keeps telling me that another firewall is on and must be turned off. (Can’t find one to turn off)

  • "Insufficient Bandwidth Problem" and "Did not respond" error messages

I am getting 3 error messages when I try to video chat using isight and ichat with my son's PC (which does video chat with my husband's PC) I have not been able to video chat although I can instant message with my son's PC.
    1. It says insufficient bandwidth"
    2. It says "starting" for a LONG time, and never finishes.
    3. Or they request a chat with me and I get a "Did not respond" message.
I have tried connecting with both my .mac account and my aim name inside of iChat
    So far, I have:
    1. Changed Quicktime streaming to 1mbps Cable
    2. Reinstalled Quicktime 7.0.1, erasing 7.0.3
    3. Made an ichat AV entry under Firewall, listing TCP etc ports for network entry, using numbers from previous posts
    4. Firewall is off
Since video chat works between my son's computer and my husband's, I doubt that it is our cable company or my son's. My son can also video chat with friends in his area. They are using msn or aim. However I have not been able to establish a connection using ichat.
If there are no other fixes, then I will probably have to call Apple tomorrow for a return on the isight that I just purchased. Too bad, because the Los Angeles Times this morning said that iChatAV image quality is superior to even Skype's new product 2.0 for Windows. At this time Skype does not have a cross platform product. Is that the problem with iChatAV, it really only works with other Macs?
Please advise if there is anything else that I can do to correct the problem. I have used an apple computer for more than 20 years, since the first little Apple IIc that I had. This is the first thing that I haven't been able to figure out.
    Thank you,
    Linda

    HI,
    This

    2. It says "starting" for a LONG time, and never finishes.
    3. Or they request a chat with me and I get a "Did not respond" message.
Normally implies the ports are not open some where.
The bit I have changed to Bold is not specific enough

    4. Firewall is off
Can you tell us exactly which ports you have opened and which protocols. APple Doc 93208 is Wrong.
    1. All iChat AV traffic is UDP except for ports 5190 and 5298, which need to be open for both TCP and UDP; and 5220, 5222, and 16384-16403, which need to be open for TCP only.
You have not siad what ports you have opened and by what method in your modem ?

  • "you did not respond" - but not when using the appleu3test01

I have been trying to get my ichat av to work to talk/vidcon to my brother who is chatting via AIM from a PC. When we try and get a chat working, we get the "Ben Taylor did not respond" message and the opportunity to send the error report (copied out below to Apple). I've followed a few of the postings and attempted to open the correct ports etc, but my modem (Speedtouch 5X6) does purport to support UPnP as well.
When I attempt to connect to the appleu3test01 service I can do so without any problems. Any ideas? System preferences for quick time etc are set to 1.5mbps. I do have an IP telephone system with the box which allows me to use a conventional handset connected into an airport express.

    Hi Ben,
Exactly which Alcatel is this ?
You seem to indicating one of the later 500 series.
The UK site for Thomson Alcatel only lists the 516, 536 and 546 as having version 5 or 6 firmware.
    This has UPnP
I must admit I thought the 516 originally came with version 4 firmware and possibly the 536 as well.
IF you are at version 6 firmware you need to update to the latest.

  • Does this help your "user did not respond" problem?

    Here’s what was going on.
If I call a buddy #1 > I get the “user did not respond”.
If I call buddy #2 > I get “user did not respond”.
However, If I call buddy #3 it works right away, no problems what so ever.
This was a constant problem, the same result over and over again when attempting to connect.
Three out of the four of us have something in common
So, how come when I call buddy #1 and buddy #2 does iChat displays “user did not respond” ? Thinking about it, we all have multiple Macs (except buddy number 3) on a network and the same router. So it appears that when I try to call someone with more than one Mac on the network I get the error.
Again, all three of us had something else in common we were all using a DMZ service on the router to direct internet traffic to a Mac which was not running iChat (ie a server).
    Time to experiment
Buddy #1 disabled DMZ then I called him.. nothing but the “user did not respond” message. I disabled DMZ (now both off us have DMZ off) I called him again (after restarting iChat) and it worked.
We both restarted iChat, Macs, Routers multiple times and it still worked 8 out of 10 times. Now, this is a huge improvement on failing to connect every-time. I did however remember reading somewhere about changing the default port number.
    More Settings
The default port number iChat uses also stops my video and audio from working but this is easily fixed.
Open iChat and make yourself off line then navigate to:
iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Server Settings.
Change the default port to 443.
Close the window and make yourself available
iChat now connects to video and audio calls every single time.
So, for us it looks like disabling DMZ and changing the port number worked perfectly.
    Instructions.
    1. Quit iChat
    2. Log into your router (enter the routers address in the address bar of your internet browser)
    3. Look for a DMZ setting, possibly listed within the WAN SetUp section.
    4. Disable DMZ
    5. You may need to restart your router
    6. Configure iChat's defualt port number (shown avbove)
    7. Make your-self 'Available' on iChat
    8. Start a video chat.
I would highly recommend that you pass this information on to your online buddies you wish to video or audio chat with. This configuration has to be set on both the caller's and and receiving buddies computer
Equipment used whilst I was testing
    Myself: iMac G5 20'' - Integral iSight - Mac 10.4.6
    Buddy #1: iMac Intel 20'' - Integral iSight - Mac 10.4.6
    Buddy #2: iMac Intel 17'' - Integral iSight - Mac 10.4.6
    Buddy #3: iMac Intel 17'' - Integral iSight - Mac 10.4.6
    Netgear DG834 Modem/Router Firmware: V3.01.29
    MacBookPro 17", G4 Powerbook 17", G5 quad, G5 iMac, G3, mac mini x4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Good luck!

    Hi Jan,
    Some notes.
The Certain Buddy problem is almost certainly down to NAT issues.
DMZ is an extreme form of Port Forwarding and is therefore a NATted service on most devices.
Netgears are know to kave this problem with iChat even with the same model with the same firmware.
It means the problem continues in Port Forwarding, Port Triggering and DMZ.
UPnP (Universal Plug n Play) is not a NAT service so will get around this.
However there seems to be somthing quirky with Netgear's implemintation of this that needs it started up at least twice to work properly.
The need to change the port from 5190 to 443 normally occures on those devices and firmware that Port Forwards AND list protocols to open the ports which then lists port 5190 twice.
Changing the port in iChat and then disabling the Port forward on port 5190 TCP also should get around this problem.

  • Another ichat question:  user (me) did not respond redux

    Hi,
I have been unable to invite a video chat with someone, getting the 'I' did not respond message. I have tried everything that I can think of:
changing the port from 5190 to 443 (or whichever is recommended)
    turned off my firewall
    do not use a router
adjusted QT settings to 1.5 mbps and bandwidth limit to NONE
The person I am trying to connect with (on a PC using AIM) ends up having to invite me, which may or may not work on the 1st try. Also, when I do the invite, it immediately responds and goes to 'starting chat' and just hangs there for a while until I get the inevitable 'user (me) did not respond' with the option of reporting to apple, which I do everytime.
I know that I had this problem before and did everything that was needed/recommended, which ended up working in the end, but I am baffled now. Any other ideas? They will be greatly appreciated!!!
    Have a good day!
    Greg
imac 2.0 intel duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Dave,
I have a Scientific Atlanta DP2100 series as given through Comcast (my ISP). According to Comcast, once I hook everything up, it is set. I have recently reset it by simply unplugging everything, letting it sit for at least a minute, and then hooking it back up, power, ethernet and cable. It does it's little startup thing, and it theoretically should be good to go. I have talked to Comcast recently, due to internet lags and tv problems, and they have said that though there have been outages around my area (but not directly here), things look good on their end. A few grains of salt with that one!
For some reason, when I try to access the modems settings via the dns address, it doesn't open that address, so that may be playing a part in it. I am not too knowledgeable on that, so if you have some ideas, that would be great.
    Thanks,
    Greg

  • AV iChat ---does not respond message

I've been reading about iChat problems and see a lot of frustrated people out there and have joined the ranks.
My mother and I successfully AV iChatted Friday night.
My daughter and I AV iChatted Sunday (she could invite me, i couldn't invite her)
My daughter was able to AV iChat with her grandmother Sunday too. But I could not. We could however audio chat.
A week later I cannot audio OR video chat with my mother.
We are getting the "(fill in name of invitor) did not respond" message.
I have opened the ports in my Mac Firewall, and my mother did too--no luck.
I tried to set a static ip address for my computer but cannot because my isp has dynamic DNS and I'm not allowed to according to them.
    Am I frustrated? You bet!
I've Mac OS X (10.4.5) on dual processor intel iMac. I connect to the web via Motorola Surfboard S84220 Cable Modem and Netgear 54 Mbps wireless router WGR614v6. My mother is on System: Mac OSX  version 10.4.5
Power Book G4 and is connected thru Surfboard Motorola Model  SB 5100.
Oh--should I say, I am on .Mac and my mother is AIM?
My husband is beginning to worry about me because I have been glued to my computer--he says there are programs out there to help people like me get over my addiction--i hope so.

iMac dual intel   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Motorola Surfboard S84220 Cable Modem and Netgear 54 Mbps wireless router WGR614v6

Well thanks for your time and input. After playing around with everything for another while, I finally called Apple Care. I figured since I payed for it, I should use it.
They first suggested that my problem lay with the strength of my internet connection. I turned my airport off and hooked up to the internet directly with the cable. When that did not help, we tried one more thing.
It turns out that I had to reset my modem. I unplugged it for 2 minutes--including its cable connection, and then turned everything back on as well as restarting my computer. Voila! it worked.
I have since reconnected my airport and am now operating wirelessly, and iChat is happy again.
Since I am not a technical person, i am probably going to garble this, but it seems that the modem was issuing crumby ip addresses to my computer (?)
Maybe you can make sense of this.
After all of this, it seems like such a simple fix. Maybe you who are experiencing the "did not respond" message can start here before you go to too much trouble setting ports and such.
We'll see if this still works tomorrow.
    Good luck!

  • What "Dave did not respond" really means (I think)

Many posters who have been presented with the "did not respond" message are clearly annoyed because this seems to imply that they have declined an invitation from a buddy.
Others say that they do not understand how they can be accused of not responding when they were the ones sending the invitation.
In fact, the message does not necessarily refer to the invitation/acceptance phase of the process. As Ralph Johns has explained in many of his answers, there has to be a lot of communication between the two parties before a conference can start. The invitations are handled on one port, then the negotiation about establishing the conference moves to another port, then (if that negotiation was successful) the conference itself is conducted on some of the 20 ports 16384-16403.
If this negotiation phase fails (perhaps because some of the ports aren't open), then you get the dreaded "did not respond" message.
Obviously it would be better if the Connection Doctor messages were more specific (something like "no response on port xxx on Dave's computer"). That would probably also help the saints who provide so much great advice on this board to pin-point where the problem is.
I know this comment isn't much consolation to the people who can't get chats to work, but it might help remove the feeling of bewilderment in many posts.

I definitely will read through Ralph Johns' posts, but I have a situation that makes me think ports are not the issue with all "did not respond" issues. Here's what I have experienced. I cannot contact User B. If I try to initiate a video chat with User B, I receive the message, "[my name] failed to respond." If User B tries to initiate a video chat with me, she receives, "User B failed to respond" messages. I can, however, initiate a chat with a third buddy, User C, and she can do the same with me. Interestingly, both User B and User C can initiate video chats together. Each of us is using a different type of router and a different ISP. Could combinations of routers and/or services result in this problem?

  • Failed to start iChat because did not respond"

Seems to be a lot of this sort of trouble going on! I bought three iSight cameras for Christmas. We can IM using iChat and AIM, but none of us are able to connect with video or audio.
Thought about setting up everyone with a .Mac account, but that costs even more money and apparently doesn't solve the problem.
    The specs:
One PowerBook G4, one iBook G3, one iMac G4
Two machines are using OS 10.4.3 and the other is running 10.3.9
We have tried turning off the OS X firewall on all machines
We have enabled specific ports in Sharing
As for the connectivity: We're connecting to the Web using a white Airport unit with the latest software and firmware installed on two machines connected to BellSouth DSL using an Alcatel modem...and we're direct to Alltel Telephone using a Siemen's DSL modem on the other machine; Alltel says it doesn't block any ports
Two machines are running iChat v3, the other is running iChat v2
All connections fail with the "...did not respond" message, although, of course, we did respond
The three icons at the bottom of the video window remain greyed out
We are all able to recieve video from the Apple AIM test address
Does it sound like a port problem with ISPs?
Is it a glitch in iChat AV software?
Am I missing something here? We spent $450 on cameras and another $60 to buy the stupid adaptors so the cameras could be mounted on a iMacs. I hate to think I just threw away that much money.
    PowerBook G4 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

One way or another, the problems should be solvable, so do not despair.
Try connecting to me at [email protected] or to another tester for starters.

  • "Did not respond" (similar threads have not yet solved)

    Please help.
Background: new mac user who bought powerbook g4 to keep in touch with family overseas on iChat. continually receiving 'did not respond' message whether initiator or receiver of video chat invitation (text chat is OK). I've read several threads on the subject and reconfiguration attempts to date have not yet solved the problem.
    Current setup:
Westell 6100 modem with DSL connection >>
    Linksys RT31P2 voip router >>
    Linksys WRT54GX4 wireless router
    --Ports open on both devices per thread and portforward.com suggestions: 5060, 5190, 5220, 5222, 5297, 5298, 5353, 5678, 16384-16403
    --mac firewall off
    --tc/ip airport connection using DHCP
    Other solutions attempted:
re-order of routers, modem>>wireless router >> voip router = no success
Thank you kindly in advance for any advice.

    Hi betseygkeely,
Welcome To The Apple Discussion Pages.
If you are using a VoIP service reorder the devices.
Modem <-> Linksys WRT44GX4 <-> Computers and Linksys RT31P2 on different ports from the Links WRT
Make sure the Westell is not doing DHCP.
Get the Linksys WRT45GX4 to do any DHCP if anything does.
Set the UPnP in the Linksys WRT45GX4 in the Adminsration tab.

  • "did not respond"

I am a new iMac user. I can connect with someone in the States and with the Apple test connection without any problems. I got the "User did not respond" message when trying to connect with someone in Israel. My firewall is off. We use a Comcast cable modem. I called Comcast and they have no issues recorded in their database with IChat.
We have a Netscreen 5GT firewall. I am assuming that because we connected fine here in the States and with the Apple test site that my ports are open. Is that a correct assumption?
    thanks!

    Hi Sandy,
When adding Buddies you do need to Add then as the
    right type of Acount.
When this is Done with the Add Buddy button/menu at
the Bottom of the Buddy list you do not have to Add
the @mac.com bit as it is added for you.
However if Editing the Addres Card in iChat with
Apple key + i keys (Get Info) then you do have to
type the @mac.com to change an AIM name into a .mac
    one.
Having a succesful chat is not always indicative of
    complete onward success.
Your IT guys should have enabled ports 5190, 5060,
5678, 16384-16403 to allow iChat to work.
Better succes can be had with the appleu3testxx
accounts maily because of their connection speeds to
    the internet.

    Hi Ralph,
After much searching in the firewall interface I found the place to enable ports. I need more info. Each port must be identified as TCP or UDP. I also need to know if it is a source or destination port and then under those categories I need to fill in high or low. I am assuming that will indicate a range if necessary. Please correct me if I am wrong. I have a paper copy of this page in the firewall interface and I could scan it and email it if necessary.
    Thanks for all your help

  • IChat Mac-to-Mac xyz did not respond

Hello, I have a very strange case: when trying to connect to X we do not get iChat working, this is what happens:
    - Select the person from the buddy list
    - Connecting
    - did not respond message
I have tested this also with another Mac user Y and iChat works fine. When Y connects to X it works fine too. However when Y connects to me and tries to add X then we cannot get him in the same chat "did not respond".
How is this possible and what can we do to solve it?
    Bdw: skype is working fine!
    Many thanks!

    Hi MichaelM,
As well as testing with known good user/accounts as Defcom has offered also look at this page/section

  • "Did not respond" error message

    hey all,
i'm sure you're all sick and tired of hearing this question, but i have to ask. here's the story, my mom recently got an iMac G5. i'm a college student in CA, and while i was home with my mom in CO, i used my mom's iMac G5 with built in iSight to video conference with girlfriend in MN. SO, i know that both my mom's iSight and my girlfriend's camera (although she does have a PC) work without a problem!
now that i'm back at school, i thought it'd be nice to have iSight for my iBook G4 to video conference with my mom and my girlfriend. however, having plugged in my brand new iSight and tested it (it does show me on the screen), when i try to v-conference with my mom or my girlfriend, it says THEY did not respond. despite this message, i'm thinking the problem is me since i know for a fact that both of theirs work. given that i'm on a college campus and there's a lot of talk about Firewall restrictions on college networks i'm wondering if that could be the problem. i tried connecting with the Apple "test" screennames, and it said that "appleu3test02" did not respond.
    my Connection Doctor says:
    2006-01-26 18:03:18 -0800: MBergner did not respond.
Tried to send UDP SIP "invite" to the following IP addresses and ports:
    24.221.209.14:10616, 192.168.0.119:5060
2006-01-26 18:22:26 -0800: Apple Test did not respond.
Tried to send UDP SIP "invite" to the following IP addresses and ports:
    17.202.39.240:5060
    2006-01-26 18:25:40 -0800: appleu3test01 did not respond.
Tried to send UDP SIP "invite" to the following IP addresses and ports:
    17.202.39.240:5060
Anyone have any suggestions? MUCH appreciated. i just spent $150 on iSight and it would be a shame to not be able to use it for the ONE reason i bought it. thanks so much!!
    David

    Hi David,
Who is your Mom's ISP ?
Do you mean that when the connection goes out of her house it is Wireless to some pint down the street ?
Or is she piggybacking on to someone else's service ?
I take it you sister is on a Wireless ISP service ?
OK. Your college for instance will be using a connection to the internet. In a home situation that interface is usually done by a modem whether or not it is to a Cable, Wirelss or DSL service.
In that modem the ports have to be open for iChat.
The same is true of teh device the colege uses to connect to the interent.
Some people also elect to have a router in their room so that they can use things like games consols over the same connection as their computer uses.
That router would also need the ports open for iChat.
There are differing methods for opening the ports.
Port Forwarding can take the data on one port from the internet (Outside) and point it to one computer on your local net. Most often the ports are kept the Same.
Port Triggering is similar but allows several coputers to use the same ports and waits until data comes on a specific port before others are open.
UPnP give control of the ports to the Application and opens them when the application needs them.
Do you plug straight into a wall socket ?
If so you may need to talk to the IT guys about which ports they have open.
The Apple Doc does say you only need the ports you list but the modem or connection device will, need more.
    5060, 5190, 5678, 16384-16403 for the AIM AV contacts
    5297, 5298 and 5353 are for Bonjour/Rendezvous
Apple Doc 93208 is also wrong at Note 1.
    It should read:
    1. All iChat AV traffic is UDP except for ports 5190 and 5298, which need to be open for both TCP and UDP; and 5220, 5222, and 5223 which need to be open for TCP only.
This Doc is now for iChat 3 as well and the TCP ports at the end are the Jabber ones thatare added for iChat 3 You need the Bold and italised text.
The UDP and TCP protocols listed are used more often in Port Triggering and are needed in the Tiger version of the MAc firewall that you seem to have set ports in.
The college of course may be blocking the ports for iChat so that their server is not over burdened by Video chats.
Can you Log in to AIM ?

  • Error Message: " '[name of my computer]' did not respond.  (error -8)

I know that this topic has been submitted a million times, but I need personal attention now. The topic discussions have been really helpful except for the fact that my ichat video STILL DOESN'T WORK. I read and do all the sets of advice and instructions and STILL NOTHING.
My main message usually always says, " '[name of my computer]' did not respond.' The only differing message I've received is from my mom's laptop (a Dell Latitude D610, Intel) which says that " '[name of her computer] has declined'. I've checked out the error reports which are always labeled (error -8).
Once I was able to connect, with absolutely no hitch, when I was sent an all out video conference chat from a G4 Mac about 4 months ago. My ichat hasn't worked since which is why I've been trouble shooting since then.
Based off of the advice, I opened ports 5060, 5190, 5220, 5222, 5297, 5298, 5353, 16384-16403 on both TCP and UPD and turned the firewalls off in one then turned them on again.
I've read the iChat support and they all say that they are compatible with tons of operating systems and platforms. But, my video still doesn't work to other computers or work in general. Please can someone tell me how to get this to work? Puhleeeease. I've been at it for months now....
    Thanks!

I, too have had the same problem, but only recently — maybe coincident with recent updates to iChat — and I too would like to know what error -8 means.
I am running a Dual 1GHz PowerPC G4 Mac with automatically updated software, connected via ADSL at 512/128. The Internet Interface is a router/firewire/switch/modem (D-Link DSL-G604T) and I have programmed it to keep the required ports open. The audio input is from an iSight: audio out to some external speakers from line out. Programming hasn't been changed for months, and the problem has only occurred recently, so it doesn't look like a Firewall or address translation problem.
In my case, I tried several things:
    1. I tried to initiate an audio chat with someone who has a Mac Mini PowerPC with most updates on it, and a 56K modem. I have had many audio chats over many months with this person.
Some days ago, it failed to complete a connection with the comment that my end didn't answer. I take this to mean that the final handshake message from the my end wasn't sent, since the connect window indicated the other side had responded positively.
The buddy on the other end then initiated an audio chat session to which I responded. This time, error -8 was accompanied with a message that the other side had failed to respond to the final handshake.
I presumed that it was some sort of glitch either on the network or in my computer and we finished the conversation on the phone. The system has been rebooted several times in the meantime, and the integrity of the system disk checked: that should have got rid of any local anomolous state
    2. The exact same thing happened today when I attempted to communicate with a new buddy introduced through email. This new buddy has recent (but unknown to me) Mac equipment running OS X, and a broadband connection.
We were testing the connection after she had set up iChat with an AIM screen name to be ready for a Saturday sched to step her through installation of some difficult to set up software.
At that point, I realised my first failure wasn't a system glitch, and found this message board.
    So, any help from anybody?
Keep in mind that this is a recently-introduced problem on a stable (other than Apple updates?) system that has been running on audio and even one-way video with 4 different buddies (three on Macs and one on Win XP with AIM) for months.

  • J2ee connection error, "The Message Server did not respond within 60 sec"

    Hi,
I am facing the error "The Message Server did not respond within 60 sec. Please check if the message server is running.." when connecting to J2ee through NWDS.
I am able to reach the index page via http://<ip address>:53500/index.html but yet unable to reach through NWDS.
I have tried various combinations of host and port names like:
    Message Server Host : <ip address>, <host name>
    Message Server Port : 3636, 3936
    but still no luck.
I've also cross checked the value of message server port by navigating to http://<IP address>:53500/monitoring/SystemInfo too, it is 3636.
    The telnet test (telnet <ip address> <port Number>) draws a blank window.
I know this problem has been posted again and again, but then I am unable to understand what is the solution to this.
Can someone please help me in resolving this issue?
Note: [link 1|Unable to Connect to the J2EE Server from Netweaver Developer Studio; & [link 2|Developer Studio:Exception:The message server did not respond within 60 sec; are already checked.

    Hi Robin,
Although I still haven't received any info from my colleagues regarding the central instance..
Just a quick query, if we have NW04 we use 36** and if it is NW04S then we use 39** , is this the only difference for message server port?
If that is the case, as I mentioned earlier, I have tried both, and one gave me N/A(3936) while the other gave me 'message server did not respond' error(3636).
I have the message server host name & port , Enqueue Server Host name & Port and SDM PID and Port details with me..
Can this be anyway useful in establishing a connection?
    Waiting for your inputs...
    Best Regards,
    Vinay
