IP Address Stolen

I was recently informed that someone went onto a Survey Website and Submitted a Survey using my IP address. Is it possible that someone I know has been able to use my IP address and do this? Is htis somethign that is easily done?

Can you tell me how you were informed? Was it through email? In that case, this person would have had to know your email address too. And are you sure the IP address in the notice is the same as your public IP address?

  • Unable to save or edit Email Filters in Comcast Email

Hi:I found a question on the board about the inability to add or edit email filters in my Comcast email account.  This was dated in May and said that it was going to be sent to the Comcast tech department for a fix.  I am wondering if there has been any progress on this?  I haven't been able to edit, update, or create email filters on my account for about 6-10 months, and I am receiving more and more spam during this period.  I've been using this account for years and am wary of dumping my Comcast account for another, more reliable email provider.  I'd love to find a way to prevent the excessive spam and to create my own filters (again) as I have in the past.  Has there been any progress?
       Thanks,  Bill Brown

I'm in the same boat.  I'm one of the lucky 53 million people who had their email address stolen in the Home Depot hack last November and now my Comcast inbox is being flooded by spam daily. It almost unusable.  I would have thought that Comcast's own spam filtering would catch these messages, but this is not the case.  I can't correctly create, edit or delete filters.  I either get error messages or an infinite saving... message.  Time to move everything to my gmail account I guess.

  • How can I see the IP address of somone who used my iPad that was stolen to log into my app-store?

I recently fell victim to a theft of my iPad. Albeit it was an old one, it was mine.
Logging on to app-store with my iPhone, I have been prompted many times for "confirmation" of my password and for security questions. Clearly, someone has been trying to log on and has failed. My only guess is that they intend to keep the iPad and download music or whatever. But being prompted for security questions, leads me to suspect that somone has my apple ID but has been plugging away at passwords to buy stuff.
If I was able to locate the IP address (as the unit is only Wi-Fi), I can pass this onto the authorities and perhaps retreive the unit.
Is it possible to load a location app remotely from here and have it load up when the stolen unit is online again?
    Many thanks y'all

Did you have 'find my iPhone' activated on it? Because if you go to iCloud.com you can log in there and you can remotely lock or wipe your device.  From what I hear, the police won't do anything about going and fetching stolen iPads and iPhones, but if you have find my iphone/ipad/ipod/mac turned on then it will give you a map of where it is.
Just keep in mind that sometimes iTunes does ask you for your password regardless, and only a few weeks ago apple brought in security questions, so everyone had to fill in security questions for their iTunes account to make it more secure If all else fails, ring Apple cusomer support and they might be able to bar your account or something, however you may have to make a new account (the might be able to set it up so you have all your previous information on a new account)
    Hope this helps!

My iPhone is stolen. How can I get my address book back from the iCloud? I should have synchronized my iPad address book. However, I loss some recent contacts from iPhone.

I use my iPad to get the address book backed up by iCloud from my iPhone. However, I cannot see the recent new contacts from my iPad. Is there anyway to check the iCloud server to see if my address book backup from my iPhone is still there?

  • Is there any way to track a stolen laptop using the mac address, or by triangulating the wifi, or even by checking to see if the macbooks serial number has been registered online anywhere?

A little info on my question,
I had it stoeln on June 22nd 2013. I had recently bought it so had not installed any software on it nor did I have registered with icloud. I had contacted police, registered it stolen with Apple (but then just discovered this week that apple do not have a database for stolen products, which makes no sense at all).
I have contacted all the major pawn shops and computer stores in town etc etc. I have recently discovered that each laptop has a unique MAC address whcih begs the question, is that traceable somehow? I have been made aware that the router strips the mac address before it connects it to the internet but does the isp log the laptops MAC address? If i contacted all the major isp in my country would they have the ability to search for the mac address of my latop and then link that with an ip address?
Any help would be great please!

Yeah but I registered it stolen with Apple first thing, then called local police etc. Apple told me on the phone that the serial has been logged as stolen, which I assumed would limit the computers use online.
Every machine has a unique serial number what I was getting at is there must be some way to track the serial number and for example if the theif logged onto facebook using a stolen machine, if there were a register of stolen equipment then red flags would pop up, you know what I mean?
Well, I hadn't heard of that before. If it's true, then what you say should also be true but the Mac would have to publish its hardware serial number over the Internet and I haven't heard of that either. The only Apple tech that is supposed to constantly track you is iCloud.
You said you assumed the database would limit use online but if that's only an assumption, you need to ask Apple what exactly the stolen database does. It is possible that the serial number might only get flagged if it comes into an Apple Store for service, if it ever does. You need to clarify this with Apple.

  • My iPhone was stolen then my icloud account was hacked and I have the email address it was changed to, how do I report this Gmail user?

This morning my iPhone was stolen from me, I immediately called it and it had been turned off. So, I went right home to activate the Find My iPhone app on the website so it would call my other contact number. Then going  to my AT&T store I was told to go home and submit an insurance claim. Later this evening, I tried to access my iCloud account and I couldn't. Finally, I found an series of emails from Apple at 5:15pm and on verifying my Find My iPhone activation had been disabled and that my iCloud ID had been changed to  *********.  I don't know who the heck this person is, but they've managed to deactivate the Find feature and hack my iCloud ID email address. How can this happen? How do I get Apple and Gmail to prosecute this person? I still don't know the full extent of what has been hacked into. Does anyone have any helpful insight? Thanks

In terms of your account the best thing to do would be to change the password.
Also just letting you know that you aren't talking to Apple, the people here are Apple product users like yourself. If you wish to speak with Apple follow the link below and call the number for your country:

  • Stolen Mac has been locked via Find my Mac, anyway to get IP address of where it was connected so i can trace that way

So my Macbook Air was stolen last year (May 2012), recieved an email this morning from Apple saying it had been "Locked".... Besides the locked indication i want to be able to find out where it is... Surely Apple will keep a log of the IP address that it was connected to when the "Lock" signal was sent...
Who is best to contact to get that info?

I have the same issue - I had my Macbook Air stolen last week and just received notification that a sound has been played on it and that it has been locked. However, it hasn't told me where it is, so I'm none the wiser...

  • How can I get the last known IP address of my stolen iPad?

My iPad 16G Wifi was stolen with Find My iPhone turned on. It was broadcasting some coordinates yesterday, but the accuracy was not the best. Can I somehow get the IP address for this last online point? It would help to filter out some apartments in the building it was located.

Sorry, but no. The Find My iPhone app is the only way to "locate" an iOS device.

  • Can I get the IP address of my stolen iPad through find my iPad?

Hi. My iPad was very recently stolen when my house was burglarized. I have find my iPad turned on and marked the device as lost. Earlier, the iPad was located and the general location was sent to me. Unfortunately, the person who stole it turned it back off as soon as they saw that it was remotely locked (this is a huge problem to me, as a remotely locked device shouldn't be able to be so easily switched off). I told the police where it was located, but it wasn't on long enough to give me an exact location. So, they will not issue a warrant because it could be in one of about 4-5 houses.
Does anyone know of a way I can get the ip address that was used when the device reported it's location via find my iPad? If I have that, then we can get a warrant and get the police to look for it. It seems like this should be available, as the device was marked as lost under find my iPad. I just can't seem to find the info anywhere on the site.
If you have any advice, please help.

You don't need to know the remote IP if you have your PPP setup correctly. Check this site out.

  • Our home address changed and our AMEX card identity has been stolen.  So when i edit to change my address and AMEX number it won't let me and get this message: "YOUR SESSION HAS TIMED OUT.  TRY AGAIN.  How do I access the store to change my account????

We moved and our address has changed.  Also our AMEX card identity has been stolen twice and AMEX has changed our number and security code twice already.  Now i am trying to edit my account at Itunes.  Every time I try to edit our account at Itunes,  I get this message: "YOUR SESSION HAS TIMED OUT. TRY AGAIN"  Anything i am doing wrong?  How do I get to the accounting department without getting this message?
    Thanks

I am having this problem too. I recently changed ISP b/c I wanted the iPhone, so I had to update my iTunes username to my Gmail account.
In fact, I logged in HERE using it as my new Apple Id... so it works!
But for some **** reason that is driving me nuts my iPhone will not connect to the iTunes store using my new Apple Id. It keeps saying my email has changed or is invalid and asks me to sign in to change it. So I do that, and it lets me in USING MY NEW Apple ID!!!! Then I go back out to the buy the App and the madness starts all over.
Come on Apple, do you want me to buy your apps, or what?

  • My MacBook was stolen and I need to know the MAC address

An emergency question to Apple support. My MacBook was stolen and I need to know the MAC address of its network card. I have a receipt with the serial number of my MacBook. Can you assist?
    My serial: W8***66D
    Thank you
p.s Any ideas how I can find it?

Report the theft to your local authorities.
Apple has no means of tracking thefts, as thieves themselves may claim the machine is theres just by looking up the information on the computer, and unless you registered the machine, it is really their word against yours, unless you also have receipt or other information that they can track to your receipt against your serial number.
Your homeowners insurance may be able to recoup the cost.
In the future, consider getting Lapcop, or Lojack for notebooks.
    Good luck!

  • My Mac has been stolen, but I have my iCloud account setup. The "find my mac" app has found the apartment block it's in, but I need an IP address. Is there a way to see the IP address of my Mac through iCloud?

My Mac has been stolen, but I have my iCloud account setup. The "find my mac" app has found the apartment block it's in, but I need an IP address for the police to go and claim it. Is there a way to see the IP address of my Mac through iCloud? I've tried to get the IP address through Gmail and Dropbox but no success. Is there any software that updates automatically that I could find the IP address through?

Shouldn't the IP address be on the box you bought the machine in? If you have the box, take it to the police as evidence that it's your machine. If I were you, I would set the firmware password when you get it back, but make sure you have the password written down in a safe place. If you forget it, there's only two ways to reset it. Either pay $400+ for the tool that can do it, or pay almost nothing for Apple to do it, I think it depends on where you live. The firmware password is this encrypted password and it can't be hacked either. The password prevents anyone from booting the machine into recovery mode, thus preventing them from restoring the computer to factory settings or performing any other functions. It's not stored in the hard drive so replacing that will be of no use either.
I hope you get your Mac back and I hope this was helpful!

If you didn't write it down the first time it will almost next to impossible to find it also this doesn't gurantee in any way you can get your laptop back either. MAC is only good if you wrote it down or registered it but if none of this is written down. And if you don't have tracking software installed the chances of getting it back is harder to get it back. So unless you see it being sold by someone or online this is the only real way you can track it down.
