IP ADDRESSING TRANSITION

Hi Fellows;
I have been pondering on this solution since morning but I now want to share with you the brain storming. We have a client that has proposed a change of ip addressing. The routing protocol in that is running on the router is EIGRP. With that in consideration, there is one AS already defined on the routers.
As there is need to be smooth with the transition, I have been thinking that the best way would be to define new EIGRP AS for the new ip addressing which I will define as secondary ip address. This is because one the end users node a change routing can still take place, is it possible for this to work?
For example for the network interfaces;
192.168... Primary
10.0...... Secondary
Thanks for your efforts,

There is a restiction using EIGRP and secondary addresses. If I remember correctly it is related to the eigrp multicast's always being generated with the primary as the source address. This would mean your second AS's wound never see each other on the addresses they were looking for.
As the above post suggests you are propable better off atempting to adjust the metric within a single EIGRP AS.

  • Automatic slide change

How do I set a presentation for automatic slide change? I want it to change from slide 1 to slide 2 after 92 seconds. The Keynote Help says nothing directly about this when I query for "automatic slide change", but it does address "transition initiate automatically". In my mind, this is the same thing. After all, if you initiate a transition, you are initiating a change to the next slide, right? It says:
"Choose an option from the Start Transition pop-up menu.
On Click: Initiates the transition when you click to advance to the next slide.
Automatically: Initiates the transition after the amount of time specified in the Delay field."
Seems perfectly clear to me. I want the transition to initiate automatically, not on click. That's what I choose and I enter 92.0s. I assume that means the same as one minute 32 seconds. The transition doesn't happen. I know the Keynote Help often isn't easy to understand, but this is so simple and clear (once I got over the odd wording about "initiate"), yet it doesn't work. Why not?

Good luck getting any more help with that attitude.
You posted a problem that I was unable to reproduce when doing things properly, so all I did was try and offer some advice on the most common reasons why you wouldn't be getting the expected results. The other poster in this thread did the same.
What do we get back? Some silly playground-level chest beating about how you've been using the app since beta. That time obviously hasn't helped your problem-solving skills. Or your manners.
One less person in this forum I'll bother spending any time trying to help...

  • I'm confused about the apple ID transition from my aol screen name. Does it continue to use my aol email as my apple ID, converting it somehow or do I need to provide a new email address or just create a new username for the apple ID?

I'm confused about the transition to an apple ID that doesn't use my aol email to sign in. The instructions are vague and ambiguous. Any help would be appreciated.

OK, so if your current Apple ID using your AOL Username (like johndoe), then you need to log onto Manage your Apple ID and EDIT that AOL Username to a valid email address: Apple - My Apple ID
If you have an AOL email address (like [email protected]), and you are not using that as another Apple ID, you can change the AOL Username Apple ID to that. Otherwise, you can change it to any valid email address (which you will have to verify when you change to it).
Hope that clears it up. Post back if it doesn't!
    Cheers,

  • Transition from Palm to Address Book

Hi....I'm a new Mac user -- finally made the switch from the PC world. I've migrating all my contacts from my old Palm desktop app to the Address book. In the process, all the "groups" were lost, and many of the Notes didn't translate well. Can anybody give me suggestions about how to clean up (re-transfer?) the info, short of typing some of the data all over again??
    1) Does Address book have custom-defined fields, into which the User Fields in Palm can be converted?
    2) Is there any way to convert the groups that each address card is already assigned to, or do I have to do that all over again?
    3) The Palm could only have a card in 1 group at a time, but Address Book looks like a card can be in multiple groups. Is there any way to "see" which group(s) a Card is in?
    Thanks......

You can add some fields that have not been included in the default template. Select Add Field from the Card menu. Any fields not grayed out can be added to the existing template. If you select the Edit Template you can make minor changes. However, there is no direct field for field assignment. You can export your Palm data to a text file and then edit the text file to remove fields that will not have a corresponding field in AB. You may also be able to select which fields to export from Palm, but it's been so long I don't recall if that option is present.
Notes and the like may be difficult to assign because AB only has one Note field. In the end you may find you will have to do some individual editing to get things the way you want within AB's limitations. However, I've used a lot of similar programs over the years and done a lot of data import/export and nothing I've ever used made the transition easy.
If you're inclined you might try third-party software:
AB Transfer ( VersionTracker or MacUpdate.)

  • HT4597 After the move to icloud, I no longer have an address book synched. Cannot find a way to add i cloud on preferences/accounts either. I'm not at all happy with this transition.

You don't require Mountain Lion - you need Lion which has been available for almost a year.
Unless you are running Mac OS X 10.7.2 or later (Lion) you won't be able to sync iCloud with your computer. The iClous system preferences pane does not exist in ealier versions.
The Mac system requirements are all clearly stated on the iCloud pages, and in the support articles.

  • Self Assigned IP address – can't figure this out. Frustrated.

This is a long post but bear with me. It proposes a challenge for the mac connoisseur. Who knows? Might be fun?
    OK, here goes:
Please help. I have been trying to fix this for about 7 months. I first noticed this issue when I started traveling around the country, from hotel to hotel. While others (PC's and Mac's) had no trouble connecting to the free wifi at these hotels, I did. I kept getting "self-assigned i.p."
This was extremely frustrating. I often had to call up the i.t. guys and ask them to help me manually put in ip address, subnet mask, router (gateway), and dns. This worked much of the time but not always.
Let me also say that, sometimes it worked perfectly! I'd say about 25% of the time (at these hotels) my internet worked perfectly – just connected immediately. The other 75... "self-assigned i.p."
I just spoke to the mac "geniuses" and they told me it's not an issue with my computer at all (either hardware or software). Are you kidding me?!?! How can they explain everyone else's internet working except mine. And I'm talking like 100 or more different hotels in a 4 month period. They were trying to tell me that it was just a coincidence every time! "You'd be surprised" one guy said. Hahaha. They said that the routers aren't accepting my computer's whatever. OK, well WHY?! The router works for everyone but me. It's something wrong with my computer right?! Well no one acknowledged this.
More background info:Just had my airport card and logic board replaced. Computer came back and the sheet said "passed all hardware tests." BUT, none of my issues (I had other ones too involving battery life and not being able to access certain websites) were fixed.
I went to an apple store. They told me to do an erase and reinstall or whatever. So I did that (by dragging and dropping everything I'd saved on an external hard drive using disk utility). By the way, I also upgraded from leopard to snow leopard. So now, if I have the same issues after this I'll know both leopard and snow leopard are screwed up.... right?
OK, so I followed their instructions on deleting and reinstalling to a tee and guess what?! Everything worked! Or so it seemed. Battery fine. Websites now accessible. I figured the airport issue was fixed too. But now that I'm not touring anymore and the airport works in my house, I never encountered any issues. Until now. At my work.
I got a new job and it's one in which I HAVE to have a computer that connects to the internet. So of course, the same issue with self assigned i.p. presents itself. Everyone else in the office has no problem. Including a Mac person that used to work there.
I've been reading some other threads that are just completely confusing me. One of them might be the solution but I thought I'd detail my troubles so that some smart computer person out there can diagnose my specific problem and give me a specific fix.
I noticed that many people believe there was a bug in one of the 10.5 updates. I am pretty quick to install updates (maybe I shouldn't be because I hear that the first updates are often buggy and maybe you should wait for a while). But this problem has continued now with Snow Leopard too so... I don't know. I don't know anything anymore. I have tried everything. And Apple is telling me it's not a problem with my computer. Give me a break.
One more interesting quirk: before doing the erase and reinstall my computer could not find the Apple Store's network. After the erase and reinstall it works. That's why I assumed everything was fine! But no. And now the Mac people are saying there's no problem because they can't see it.
BTW, I have tried all the obvious things. It's not an obvious thing. But I mean, if you think it is... then tell me I guess. But I've been in the advanced tab thousands of times. I feel like I've exhausted everything in there.
Thank you thank you thank you in advance if someone is actually able to solve my issue.

  • I have two .mac addresses; how does this work in iCloud?

This is not about consolidating Apple ID's... I think.
When I got my first .mac address, I thought I picked a good one at the time. Later on, due to the peculiar spelling, I opted for an additonal (paid) address which I use every day. Now the first one (which is an Apple ID) contains my calendars, contacts, etc. I never use the email portion of it, again because of challenging spelling. The second .mac address (also an Apple ID) is an email only account. This is the email account I use daily.
When I make the transition to iCloud, I intend to keep my original AppleID (from the pre-.mac days) as my iTunes store ID.
My question is, what happens with my two other accounts?
.mac #1 with the contacts and such would move to iCloud and sync everything there as it currently does with MobileMe. Since .mac #2 is an email only account, would I even need to bother moving it to iCloud (if that's even possible), or would I just keep using that as email only using the current mail settings on my iThingys and Mac? Does anyone know if .mac #2 will live on after MobileMe vanishes, or will I loose my daily and coveted .mac email at that time?
I'm sure Apple has a good reason for not allowing us to just consolidate everything in one place, but I know there are many out there with a similar situation to mine.
I've spent a good deal of time tonight searching the various threads and can't seem to find an answer to the two .mac email dilemma. My appologies if it's already been discussed.
To sum up, I have one Apple ID that I use for iTunes and intend to keep as such. I have two .mac addresses which are also Apple ID's; one that syncs with MobileMe and one that is email only. I would like to use iCloud to sync what is currently on MobileMe, AND continue to use the simpler email address that I've been using for years.
    Am I screwed??
Thanks in advance for your help, and Happy Holidays to all!!

Migrate the account which contains your calendars, contacts etc. first, at http://me.com/move and set it up on your Mac and devices.
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html
Now migrate the email-only account in the same way. On a Mac you can add it in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts & Calendars - it won't sync anything but will be added to the accounts in Mail where you can then use the email in the normal way.
I don't know what the equivalent process on an iOS device is; very likely you need to add it as an account in the Mail app.

  • Posting contact form to variable email address PHP

  • Migrate WSUS server from 2003x86 to 2008x64, new hardware, use same name and IP address?

Searching through the WSUS forums and reading the TechNET migration documentation, I have bits and pieces of information to make this a smooth transition...I think. I have a plan in mind but
would like the communities input on what I am thinking before moving forward and having it blowup in my face :). <o:p></o:p>
    I have the following currently:<o:p></o:p>
A single WSUS 3.0 SP2 server, running on Server Win2003x86, using the default WID (susdb.mdf) on the same server. I have SQL 2005 Express installed on this server as well for other services
but this has no bearing on the WID correct?<o:p></o:p>
What I would like to do:<o:p></o:p>
I have a new server (a much better one) that I would like to move WSUS on to, that will be running Server Win2008x64 (I have to setup first). <o:p></o:p>
Steps that I would like to follow:<o:p></o:p>
    1. I will go through and setup this new server with all M$ updates etc... under a new name (ex. wsusnew) and DHCP acquired IP address and then power it down. <o:p></o:p>
    2. Get on my current WSUS server and backup all current WSUS settings, groups, DB etc... to a network location for temporary storage. Then power it down.<o:p></o:p>
    3. Delete the current WSUS server computer object in AD, DNS entry I will leave because my intension is to give the same IP address to the new WSUS server.<o:p></o:p>
    4. Start the new server, static assign the IP address from the old WSUS server to this new server and then change the name of (wsusnew) to the old servers name, which should be ok sense I deleted
the AD object in step 3.<o:p></o:p>
    5. After the obvious restart, the new server will have the same name and IP address as the old server. <o:p></o:p>
    6. Now that the new server is up (with same settings name/IP as old server), I will then go through and install the WSUS role on the server and restore my WSUS information.<o:p></o:p>
    Questions:<o:p></o:p>
    1. Step 2 above, is it possible to do this, without making replica servers? I kept reading about this as I was researching doing this, I would rather just copy the DB and folders and simply
put them in-place on the new server.<o:p></o:p>
    2. Step 6 above, restoring of the data, what is the proper way to do this in the scenarioI described? <o:p></o:p>
Thank you to anyone who can provide me some information.
    Jeff

Thank you for the reply, I will follow and let you know. Proabably be next week sometime before I'm able to try though. So look for a reponse then. Thank you again.
    Jeff
    OR...
You can use the much more simple, much more reliable, and much more proven method of:
Install new server as a replica of the old.
    Replicate.
Configure new server as upstream server.
    Point clients to new server.
Turn off old server after all clients have redirected to the new server.
For everybody that has tried the backup/restore the database procedure described above, they have encounted complications of one form or another.
WSUS has a built-in and fully supported comprehensive replication capbility. use it! :-)

  • R203.1 Minor system update and additional sites transitioned to the new engine

Tuesday, February 17th, starting at 11:00 AM UTC, we will update the new version Business Catalyst service to fix some minor issues. Additionally, we are ready to transition all webMarketing sites to the new rendering engine. The transition is scheduled to start on Wednesday, February 18th, at 10:00 AM UTC. Please find below the detailed list of changes included in the update:
3929446 - Fixed an issue that caused sites with country set to Turkey and no culture selected to break when rendering Liquid pages
3930796 - Fixed an issue preventing web app item detail page to render in front-end when site culture was set to Japanese
3938776 - Updated max year available on module templates which included payment forms
3919535 - Fixed an issue in the Insert Link interface which did not displayed the Update and Cancel buttons when opened from ICE
3931350 - Updated transfer site workflow to also reset newsletter consumption when transferring the site
Fixed an issue preventing multiline module to render correctly in Liquid
3939581 - Fixed an issue causing {module_dob} to display "01-Jan-0001" when placed inside an "Update User Details Form" even if customer did not have a Date of Birth set
Additionally, we have resolved an intermittent issue where newly created email account users couldn’t login after the account creation if the account was previously deleted and re-created.
Additionally, with this update we are adding new documentation resources:
    How to's:
Check if a CRM with a specific email address exists (this can be used when validating email addresses for new customers)
How to paginate the output of module_data
e-Commerce related - displaying the history of viewed products
e-Commerce related - adding product poplets to any layout
    Articles
    Understanding email campaign bounces
How to create thumbnails from full size images (this is an old article we moved to docs)
How to classify web app items upon submission
Email notifications for sensitive site changes
Message was edited by: Mihai Tica

    Great work.
The article for 'how to create thumbnails' is missing the proportional_noupscale parameter though.

  • I am new to Final Cut Express and don't understand why I am unable to drag transitions into Canvas? Something wrong in my setup? It's not the overlays they are "on" so can anyone advise me please?

I am new to Final Cut Express and don't understand why I am unable to drag transitions into Canvas? Something wrong in my setup? It's not the overlays they are "on" so can anyone advise me please, by the way the "L" doesn't appear in the bottom left hand corner either? and by the way how can I get rid of that irritating Blue badge saying "AutoFill your contact details" all mine are in "address book" already!

You can't drag a transition into the canvas. If you're dragginmg a transition from the effects tab you drag it between the edit point of two clips in the timeline.
Make sure show edit overlays is turned on in the Canvas view popup.

  • Problems in Logic after transitioning from Snow Leopard to Mtn Lion

I have recently transitioned into Mtn Lion from Snow Leopard using Logic 9.1.8.  Now every time I try to open a project created using the EXS24 Bosendorfer piano (Logic) plug in, Logic crashes. I also use (and mix together) Miroslav Philharmonik plug ins and am haviing no trouble loading them (after an initial glitch).  Logic also crashes when I try to load the EXS224 Bosendorfer piano (Logic) plug-in into a project.  Suggestions for a fix?   What am I issing?  Thanks for any help here.

    Hello alkhater.
I did confirm that I am not using iCloud, so was able to cross that off the checklist.  I was able to resolve the issue by going into the Library folder and removing every file I could find that had "Address Book" in its name.  Then I rebooted the computer and started Contacts, which opened with the default Apple card and "User" card.  From there I was able to rebuild my Contacts, and it is now working normally.
Thanks for the feedback and enjoy your day.

  • I have just moved from MobileMe, where I had a 'Family account' (with unique email addresses for my wife and myself) to iCloud. We share the Cal and Contacts on our iMac. How do we sync to multiple devices - we each have iPads and iPhones? Mine sync OK...

We have just moved from MobileMe, where we had a 'Family account' (and we each have our own @me.com email addresses) to iCloud. We share the Cal and Contacts on our iMac. How do we sync to multiple devices - we each have an iPad and an iPhone, but with different accounts set up for mail. Mine syncs OK to Cal and Contacts, but hers doesn't. There must be a way! Please help.

According the this: http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html, "After moving to iCloud, family member accounts are no longer linked to the master account."  You can share an iCloud calendar (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2690), but I don't think you will be able to share iCloud contacts unless you are signed into the same iCloud account on both phones.

  • Can I host an address book & calendar ?

I have been using Now-Up-To Data/Contact for over 10 years. I have been hosting a contact & events server on the same box as XServe
I am ready to throw in the towel on NUD/C. They are simply going backwards.
I have about 10 people who share contacts and events. I am hoping that Apples Address Book, and iCal will work for me. Any Opinions ?
Is the only option for everyone to use iMac Accounts, or can I host a private server ?
I read that I can host a private iChat server, that is why i ask.
    thanks

To add some of my experience to Ray's post.....
    - iCal
You can publish your iCal and others can subscribe. This works pretty well, but falls short of the integration you may be used to with NOW Up To Date.
You can expand features by using an open source product (PHP iCalendar)which parses the published calendars into HTML. This gives you a read-only web accessible version of one or more calendars.
    - LDAP
You can setup shared access to an Address Book. It's no a simple undertaking and involves, of course, third party software. There are a few options here, searching versiontracker will find some.
I'm very familiar with NOW and with these other options and I understand your pain. A transition to these other solutions will likely involve even more pain and fewer features (although a couple new features too).
Tread carefully.... You may not feel like you have the best product or great support- but if you switch to using open source software you will bear more of the burden and won't have a phone # to call for support.

  • Is there a way to change the icloud email address associated with your Apple ID?

I had an Apple ID long before iCloud came around.  Naturally, my username was my email address, let's say [email protected]  I signed up for an @me email address when they started just to try it out, but never used it.  Either by default or by my own decision, my @me account became the same as my old email address: [email protected]  Later, Apple issued the @icloud email addresses, so I now have: [email protected] as well.  I want to set up a different icloud address, one that I would actually use, let's say [email protected]  Then, I would like to associate that address with my Apple ID and delete the oldaddress@icloud address altogether.  Can I do this and if so how?
    Thanks for the advice.

Since your Apple ID is already associated with the current iCloud account (and the account cannot be delete, it can only be abandoned), you can't use it to create another.  You would need to create a new Apple ID with a new non-Apple email address to create a new iCloud account.  You can still use your current ID for everything else; the iCloud ID does not need to be the same as the ID you use for other services (iTunes, etc.).
You would then have to migrate your iCloud data to the new account and turn on your iCloud data syncing.  When you turn Mail to On, you can create your new @icloud email address (but type carefully since once created it cannot be changed).  You @me iCloud email address would remain associated with the iCloud account you are leaving but it sounds like you don't want to use it anyway.  You can set up email forwarding to forwared email sent to your @me address to your new @icloud address while your contacts transition to your new address.
