IP Adress Problem

Hello again,
 Hello again,
Well, I was able to set everything up thanks to the linksys tech people but unfortunately I am not able to connect to the monitoring system outside my house. I subscribed to TZO.COM and used their troubleshooting support to fix my problem, PortDetective, etc... and still to no avail. My geeky cousin could not connect to my camera nor my router. So...it seems according to his expertise, that my ISP(dsl) Embarq, now called CenturyLink is the problem. He tells me that tzo.com's capability to update my IP address is not enough if my ISP has a permanent block on my IP address. If this is true, it will be an additional $10/month charge.... are there any other option available to me?
Thanks

Mort,
Thank you for your help.... an update.... I called tzo.com and they basically recommended the same thing as you did. My ISP representative was nice enough to switched me to a bridgemode and now everything seems OK.  One question though.....what if my ISP changes my IP address?  will my bridgemode status still work?
Thanks.

  • Remote host ip adress problem

    Hi,
I am developing a web application consisting of servlets. I want the application to react differently to different ip adresses.
I am using Apache with mod_ose, and all the servlets are in an Oracle 8.1.7 JVM.
request.getRemoteAddr() returns the adress of the Apache web server not the remote client.
Is there any way to get around this problem?
    Any fix/patch?
    Regards,
    Christian

    Hi all,
Is there a solution to this. I am stuck in this. Please let me know if i can use the request.getremoteaddr() to get the remote client's IP address if the request is being forwarded by apache to oc4j in oracle 9iAS release 2. Or is there any other way of getting the IP address of client.
    Regards,

  • Self-assigned IP adress problem.  What if none of the fixes worked?

I just developed the "self-assigned Ip adress" at my college last night. I've been up all night on forums trying to solve the problem and tried about everything.
    I've:
Tried to Renew DHCP Lease. (does nothing)
Manually input ip address. (doesnt work because the college uses a dynamic ip instead of static)
Opened the firewall to allow all connections. (I think it already was open)
    Created a new location. (nothing)
Run diagnostics about 10 times. (prompts to reset router or modem, which I doubt is the problem since my roommate's laptop works fine)
    Created another ethernet connection. (nothing)
    Repaired the permissions. (nothing)
Can't think of what else I did, but I'm thinking it could be an issue with the 10.5.5 update, so if nothing else works, I am planning to use my OS disks to reinstall OS X (I think it was 10.5.3 when I bought it.)
If there is an easier way, please advise!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too am having this problem. I just updated from 10.4 to leopard, and could not connect due to the self assigned IP. Found somewhere online on another computer that you can shut down, restart and hold down the shift key to boot up in safe mode. Then restart, and everything works, normal IP. I then did software update, to get the latest leopard updates, and had the same problem, used the same fix. I was coming on the forum to ask if anyone else had this problem and to see if there were any explanations. Hope this works for you. I will keep reading to see if anyone else has an explanation. I also noticed that Internet connect is no longer part of OSX. I travel a lot and that function has helped me connect in many places, so I hope it's exclusion won't mess me up.

  • Getting IP adress problems and firewal is blocking parts of windows when i hook up router

I have a Model WRT54G router, have had it for over a year with no problems, until about 3 months ago or so. I hooked up the router to our computers after moving them, and I began to have 2 problems. One, I started to get messages saying that there was an IP conflict with the other computer on the network. The second is that I kept getting a message through my firewall, that it was blocking part of Windows, nt and kernel. I thought it was just the way I had set the network up, but after a month of this, a relative of mine, that has the same router, started having the same problem. We were told that it was the modem for our internet service, which is cable. They had upgraded the service or some such thing, and thats what was causing the trouble. We went to the cable company, and they told us there is nothing wrong with the modems, that it was the router. If anybody can help, please do, I am posting this as a last resort before I go out and buy a new router. Thank you

Well as far as the first problem goes, what IP address are both PCs being assigned? I take it you're using DHCP on the router. Try this, bring up command prompt, type ipconfig /release, shut down the PC. Do the same thing to any other PCs you have on your LAN. Then boot up each PC one at a time, this will ensure each PC is assigned a different IP address. Once the PC has booted up note the IP address and move on to the next PC.

    Hi
I have a CD and have all my files in it and I want to load them into my flash file, how can I do it?

    Hi
Thanks for the help, really, but I`ve foudn my solution now...
I had tryed this once, but it didn`t work, I don`t know why. But all I need  to do is load within a movie clip (not components) with the function:
    MyInstanceName.loadMovie ("Img/MyExternalImage.jpg");
    But thanks anyway

  • ICloud email adress problems

    Hi there. Absolute newbie here.
A weird question that I am not sure anyone will be able to help me with.
Basically my friend had an iCloud account on his MAC and we created an email address for me to use once. So he had his original @me address; [email protected] and created another one for me after. You can create 5 I think. Mine was [email protected] He has now deleted it and I want to use it for my iCloud account as I have just bought a MacBook Pro but it keeps saying the email address is already taken. We tried adding it again under his account and it will let him. Deleted it again then added it again and it worked.
He doesn't have it on his account anymore but it still won't let me use it?
    Any ideas anyone?
    Many thanks,
    Greg.

I will wait and keep trying. Don't use the email on iCloud anyway. To be honest I think iCloud is a bit pointless, for me anyway.
Another fail on Apple's behalf just like thunderbolt.
Only had my MAC a couple of months and already thinking of going back to Windows.
Fortunately I have Windows installed on 100GB of my HDD in my MAC
    Have fun.

  • 169 IP problem ......

As far as i have noticed this is the most common problem with an ipod not connected to wifi, and its a pain in the neck. i too have the same problem.
i have an ipod touch 3G with iOS 4.3.3. and i dont have a wireless router so i just create a ad-hoc connection from my laptop Sony Vaio running on Win 7. I was able to access the internet for a week, then i got the 169 IP adress problem. i had iOS 4.0 then. i have updated it to 4.3.3, i have reset the network connections, and on my laptop i have renewed my lease (or however you say it) I have tried it with 2 internet connections, but i have the same problem with both the connection. i keep getting the 169 ip address on my ipod. right now i think it is something with my laptop or my ipod.
can you please tell me a solution for this?
it would be MUCH appreciated !
    thanx !

Also, I have an iMac that connects wirelessly just fine. It's that pesky 169 IP on the Macbook that is causing the problems I think.

  • Performance Differences (complex)

    Hi!
Almost 2 years ago we started to migrate our software from Oracle 8.0 to Oracle 10g.
Soon we faced severe performance problems with some statements (Oracle 10g being 1000 times SLOWER than 8.0!), but we somehow managed to get around with this.
Then we suddenly faced problems with a few statements, that were fast on 10.1.0.2 and slow on 10.1.0.4 - or vice versa. But we also managed this...
Now in recent days - guess what - I'm even having problems with extremly varying performance executing SQLs on two machines running the same database (10.1.0.2), having been installed identically. The hardware ist not equal, maybe server1 ist two times faster than server2, but the diffrences in execution time are far beyond that, what hardware differences could explain (sometimes factor 100), and to make the confusion complete: sometimes the slow machine is by far faster than the "fast" one :(
I know there are millions of factors that determine the execution speed of an sql statement, but slowly but surely this behaviour really starts to suck apart from the fact that developement becomes expensive, if you never know whether the statement you wrote will also be fast on your customer's computer.
Meanwhile I'm really desperate about this behaviour and my belief in oracle (or in my abilities) has decreased drastically.
Has anyone some hints how to generally adress problems like these?
First thing I do in these situations is to generate new statistics using GATHER_SCHEMA_STATS but in most cases this wont help.
We also tried looking at the execution plans. Of course they are different, but the question is why, and how can I affect this?
The last weeks this has really become a big problem for us, because the number of incidents has increased and we don't want our application to be a kind of performance-gamble.
If I look around in forums I always have the feeling we are the only ones to face problems like these. Are we doing something completely wrong, and how can I find out what?
    Has anyone faced similar problems?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marcus

  • VMSMP warning event id 28 on 2008 R2 with Hyper-V

I am using a HP ProLiant DL380 G6 with a full install of the 2008 R2 Datacenter, the only role added is Hyper-V. There is 4 integrated NICs on the server, I also added a Quad port adapter. One nic is for the host, the rest is dedicated to virtual machines
(no config on the host OS - apart from disabled Offload). All virtual networks have not checked the box for allowing the host OS to share the adapter, all machined using dynamic MAC-addressing. All Hp agents installed - apart from HP network config utility.
All virtual machines works pretty well, but all of them have short stops in network traffic. One virtual machine is a terminal server (or Remote Desktop Server) serving 10-15 users. All users are pretty annoyed with the fact that the server often stops responding
for a few secs, and then continues as normal. Sometimes the server disconnects the RDP connection and the users have to log in all over again. Another physical server is running Backup Exec - but all backup jobs ends up with a communication error to remote
agents on virtual servers (sometimes also the host has these errors).
The system log is filled with this and simular events:
Port 'SWITCHPORT-SM-6B477375-B522-4704-9998-79103BFE3F34-3-1' was prevented from using MAC address '00-15-5D-0F-30-08' because it is pinned to port '187215F7-4AC9-4ACF-8'.
I have double and triple checked the mac address config, but all virtual machines have unic addresses - and none colliding with any other adresses on the network. The switch in place is a HP ProCurve gb unmanaged 24 port - seems to work OK.
All these warnings in my host's system log seems to to actually log an error - as the VM's loose network connection at the same time as the log is generated.
As most search engines are focusing on the duplicate mac adress problem, I am having a hard time working this out..
    Any ideas?

Hmm, I am still not able to get this working correctly.. After enabling mac address spoofing, the messages are no longer warning messages, only informational:
The MAC address '00-15-5D-0F-30-0E' has moved from port 'D5D16391-4A0B-43AF-8D75-9A9DBBF4638C' to port 'D827152D-A4E0-41B6-AA5D-E33963330607'. And it is filling my system log with similar events. Anybody have a clue WHY?
But the short stops in network traffic is still there, all my backup jobs fail. I have tried to set static mac addresses on all virtual nics - I even removed all the virtual network cards from vm's, deleted them from the host and started all over again.
That is - I created new virtual networks and added new nics to each VM. And there is still this problem that I cannot seem to find any solution for.
The funny part is that I have used this setup with several customers using a singlehost-solution without any problems anywhere else. That is using both Hyper-V and VMware.
I am running out of options here....
    Anybody?

  • My iMac will detect Airport Express but can't read configuration? Any Suggestions?

I bought an Airport Express about 3 weeks ago.  I brought it home and set it up no problems. It was replacing an older Netgear router that gave me nothing but IP adress problems. When I bought the Express I didn't realize that DirecTV had wired a connection to my Netgear router, so now I have no way to connect my DirecTV recievers to the internet without purchasing some wifi adapter which I don't want to do.  I tried to run the cable from my modem to the Netgear router, than out from the router to the DirecTV box and another to my Aiport Express for wifi. That is where the problems started. I couldn't get anything to connect correctly, ended up switching the express to "Bridge Mode" and it seemed to work. Only I didn't have Internet, though the light was green. I tried restarting everything but to no avail.  So, I tried a reset on the Airport Express and now I have nothing.  My iMac will detect the Airport Express but when I click continue to configure it simply says "Trying to read Airport Configuration", which eventually leads to an error and nothing. Any idea what my problem could be?

Thanks. I really should have gotten back earlier. Sorry about that.
I have stopped trying to use the Airport Express. I am convinced that it just doesn't work as a device to use for Internet sharing with other computers or iPod Touches that are using Airport. I find that I can easily connect just by turning on Airport and Internet sharing on my iMac and creating a Network. When I do that my iPod connects immediately and I can use all the Internet applications.

  • Problems setting up VVSA 6.0 (lookup service adresse)

    Hi,
I was happy to see VVSA 6.0 released, but i'm having problems setting it up. It keeps saying that the lookup service adresse is not reachable. But I have tried with the VVSA 5.5 and 5.5.1.1 and they work just fine with the lookup service adresse.
    Anyone else having this issue?
Also trying to check for updates within the appliance failes since the repository is not online at vmware it seems.
Might not be ready for primetime (like ESXi6).

If Developer has a separate Oracle Home on your PC, then it has a separate TNSNAMES.ORA file that is uses to connect to the database. If you search for all tnsnames.ora files, you should find the one used by Developer 6.
Since Enterprise manager works, the tnsnames.ora in your Enterprise Manager's home will have an entry for your server database. You should be able to cut and paste this into the tnsnames.ora file used by Developer, or try copying the E.M. tnsnames.ora file directly.

  • Problem with adress formating

    Hi all!
I'm having a hard time with addresses at Sapscript and Smartforms: for some reason, some customer's addresses apear with the folowing format:
    <TITLE><NAME>
    <ADDRESS>
    <POST CODE>
    <LAND>
Why does the NAME apear in the same lina as TITLE does?
    Can anyone help???
    Thanks!
    Carlos

I'm still testing, but I think I've found the cause and solution for this problem:
When configuring the Title, we have to select one type of the following:
    personal;
    company;
    When whe select "personal" SAP Adress formats the first line to appear something like: <TITLE> <NAME>;
If we select "company" SAP formats the first line like <TITLE> in first line and <NAME> in the second line.
The solution?! Simple: just change the type of title to be always "company".
Thanks  Miguel Alvear (for showing me the way)!

  • Problems with sending SMS from adress book

    Hi all,
I have a new Kotorola MOTOKRZR K1 here.
The Bluetooth connection with iMac is ok. I can send data to phone and I can receive data from phone, but I can't send SMS from adress book v4.0.5 (487) to the phone.
The bluetooth button in adress book is disabled. I can click on this button, but address book open in this case always a dialog: "Pair with bluetooth device".
When I click on the "pair" button, then I can enter my access code vor the phone.
It is the access code from Bluetooth Assistant program for the phone.
my question is, Is here a user, who can send a SMS with MOTOKRZR K1 from adress book?
With my old Siemens S55 is this no problem.
Sorry for my very bad english.
    Greetings, Bermd

    Hey there arunvdi,
It sounds like you are unable to connect to the Wi-Fi created by your Personal Hotspot. I recommend these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Personal Hotspot
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2756
Try disabling and reenabling Personal Hotspot from Settings > Personal Hotspot or Settings > General > Cellular > Personal Hotspot.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Wi-Fi troubleshooting
If you encounter an issue using Personal Hotspot with other Wi-Fi devices, try the following:
    Turn Personal Hotspot off.
Verify Wi-Fi is on in Settings > Wi-Fi.
    Turn Personal Hotspot back on.
If another device is unable to join your Wi-Fi network, ensure that the user enters the Wi-Fi password correctly. If the device cannot see your Wi-Fi network, verify your device name.
Note: Windows may not properly display a device name that uses non-ASCII characters.
Verify how many devices are currently using your Personal Hotspot. Depending on your wireless carrier and, the maximum number of Wi-Fi connections may be limited to three at one time.
If the other device still cannot connect, try turning Wi-Fi off and on again on the device. Verify that your device can see other Wi-Fi networks.
Note: If you see an "Unable to Join" or timeout error when trying to connect a device using Wi-Fi, ensure that you remain on the Personal Hotspot screen until the first device connects. After a device has connected, you can leave the Personal Hotspot screen and use your phone normally. Your device will automatically stop broadcasting using Wi-Fi if you put your device to sleep or after 90 seconds elapse with no devices connected using Wi-Fi. You can start broadcasting your Wi-Fi network again by tapping Settings > Personal Hotspot.
If none of the previous steps resolves your issue, restore the iPhone.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling
