It's possible to create ip alias on windows 98/Me ?
If yes, anyone know how to do it?

If by IP alias you mean spoofing IP address, then it mostly up to your ISP. Java does not support low level IP stack hacking, which would allow you change the IP address, but you could write a native program with Java interface to do the task.
Although 98/Me does support raw sockets, which allow spoofing. But I hope you do understand that the reply packets won't come pack to your computer unless you really do own that IP. Although in some cases, like HUB-network, you can sniff the packets..
Anyway, I don't want to give you more clues before I know to what purpose you need the IP 'aliasing'.

Macintosh alias vs windows shortcut on CD

I have a CD containing a snapshot of a website for archival purposes. It has to be readable on a windows machine. To make it easier for users to access I have created an alias that points to a file index.html. The alias is in the root directory of the CD. All the contents of the website are in a folder also located in the root directory. The CD has been burned successfully (using toast) and is fully functional on a mac. On a windows machine the alias appears as a zero byte file and no longer links to index.html. Open the folder - all the files work. I have found out that mac alias and windows shortcut work differently and this seems to be the cause of the problem.
I know I could refer users to the original file using a readme.html. I also know I could move index.html to the root directory but this would require a lot of links to be re-coded.
Is there any way to make a shortcut that windows will recognise on a mac? This would be my preferred solution.

No. That's just a set of colors that is evenly distributed across the color space. There's really nothing special about the colors themselves; they aren't magic or better than any others.

How to automate the alias between Windows AD and SAP accounts

I have authentication working where I can logon via SSO with Windows AD authentication and still get to SAP BW via SAP SNC. In getting this to work I had to manually create an alias between the Windows AD account and th SAP Account. We will have thousands of users in our Business Objects environment with users coming and going each day. I have not found a way to automate the creation of the alias. There must be some way to do this, since this seems like it would be a common need for customers that want to access both SAP and non SAP resources in Business Objects. Has anyone found a way to automate the creation of the aliases? Our user ids are the same in Windows AD and SAP, so it doesn't seem like this should be that difficult, but I can't figure this out.

Thanks for the response. That was helpful. I had seen something similar is SAP Note 1269228, but that note did not mention the registry key setting. These seems like a fairly common request. Is built in support for this planned in XI 3.2 or XI 4? The reason I ask about the feature being included in future releases, is because we may hold off on taking the time to develop a script if this is soon to be part of the software.
Also, if anyone has already created a script to do this, I would be inteterested in knowing how you scripted this. How do you handle adds/removes of either SAP Authentication or Windows AD Authentication for a user? How do you handle adds or deletes of whole users?

HTML font anti-alias issue (Windows)

I'm using an HTML component in my AIR app to display a bunch of content. I recently changed over to using the HTML component instead of other Flex components like Text and TextArea.
The problem I have is that text in the HTML component is always displaying anti-aliased on Windows, whereas it didn't before when I was using other Flex components. Is there a way I can prevent the HTML component from rendering fonts with anti-aliasing? I've tried several WebKit CSS properties, but none of them have seemed to work (including text-smooth and text-shadow). I also didn't see any properties on the HTML or HTMLLoader components which allowed me to change font rendering.
Does anyone know how I might solve this?

ITunes 9 - Using 'Home Sharing' between Windows and Mac libraries

I have my main iTunes music library stored on my Windows 7 PC. It is currently around 200Gb in size, so pretty large.
I want to be able to use 'Home Sharing' in iTunes 9 to access this library on my Macbook over my home wireless network.
I don't, however, want to copy the music files themselves over to this laptop, but simply access the library over the network, and play them via either iTunes 9 or Front Row.
I would appear that the Windows and Mac 'iTunes Library' xml files are incompatible. I can't 'Alias' the Windows library on the MacBook for this reason. Does 'Home Sharing' eliminate this problem? Is there a way of accessing the library on the Windows PC without copying all of the files over to the MacBook?
I want to maintain a single library (which is often changing with new podcasts etc), rather than 2 libraries which I have to keep in sync.
Does anybody have any ideas on this one? I'm sure I am not alone in having this problem.

ITunes 9, Windows 7, and Bootcamp 3.0

Just thought I'd post this for anyone who is as frustrated as I've been over the issue of sharing your iTunes library on a single computer with Leopard on one partition and Windows 7 on the other.
First (on the advice of various helpful posts on the internet), get MacDrive 8: http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/
MacDrive allows your Windows OS to "see" files on your Mac. No network drive, no copying your entire iTunes library to an external, no formatting a FAT32 network, just a handy little app and five extra minutes of your time...
Once you activate MacDrive(alternately you can try the free trial for 5 days) and restart back into Windows, follow these steps:
1. Go into your Computer. You should now see all your hard drives, including the Mac OS partition. Mine was designated as "Macintosh HD (E:)". Open the hard drive that contains your Mac OS and navigate to where your iTunes music folder is. This is typically in "Users > (yourUserName) > Music > iTunes > iTunes Music".
2. Open a second window from Computer. Open the Windows hard drive. Navigate to your "My Music" folder. This is typically in "(C:) > Users > (yourUserName) > My Music". Create a new folder and name it "iTunes". DO NOT go into your "iTunes Media" folder!!!
3. Delete any existing iTunes Media database and XML files ("iTunes Libary", "iTunes Library Extras", "iTunes Library Genius", and "iTunes Music Library") that may have previously been generated on the Windows OS partition.
3. With both windows (we'll call them panes to avoid obvious confustion) still open, select the entire "iTunes Music" folder from your Mac OS drive and create a shortcut/alias. Windows will append " - Shortcut" to the alias name. Drag this alias into your Windows OS pane in "My Music". Rename the shortcut "iTunes Music". Do the same for your "Album Artwork" folder.
4. Next, select the following four files from your Mac OS pane: "iTunes Library", "iTunes Library Extras", "iTunes Library Genius", and "iTunes Music Library". These are the Database and XML files Windows will need to resolve ID3 tags. Drag these four files into your Windows OS pane. Remember, you're not inside the "iTunes Media" folder, but just outside of it. Since you're working between partitions, the files will be copied instead of being moved.
5. Almost there! Your iTunes folder/file structure on the Windows OS partition should look thusly:
Album Artwork (shortcut from Mac OS partition)
iTunes Media
iTunes Library (XML file from Mac OS partition)
iTunes Library Extras (Database file from Mac OS partition)
iTUnes Library Genius (Database file from Mac OS partition)
iTunes Music Library (XMl file from Mac OS partition)
iTunes Music (shortcut from Mac OS partition)
6. At this point, you can close the pane that has your music library from the Mac OS partition.
7. Launch iTunes (you have upgraded to the latest version, right?) and go into Edit > Preferences > Advanced.
8. In "iTunes Media folder location", click on the "Change" button and navigate to the iTunes folder on your Windows C: drive. SELECT THE SHORTCUT "iTunes Music" YOU CREATED IN STEP 3. DESELECT THE TWO OPTIONS "Keep iTunes Media folder organized", "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library".
9. That's it! Your iTunes should start populating right away. If it doesn't, just quit and relaunch iTunes again. To confirm that your music is 'pointing' to the right music library, just select a song, right-click and choose "Get Info". The path to the MP3 file should start with E: (or whatever letter Windows has designated your Mac partition as).
IMPORTANT: Safety/Security Note
I tried making the Mac OS "Read Only" through MacDrive, but unfortunately this particular iTunes sharing solution only works if MacDrive has write access to the Mac partition. So...your Mac could be vulnerable to (gasp!) those nasty PC viruses.

One question though, since the all the database files are not shortcuts is that going to require me to re-copy those files any time I want my windows partition to look just like the mac one? Publishing point is not starting in the windows media server

In the setup VCS expressway starter pack is used as call controller & the endpoints are registered to it. TCS is used for recording. A existing publishing point is used for live streaming using windows media server. This publishing point is not started when the recording starts for this recording alias. Windows media server is running locally in the TCS. I could see the below in the server logs. Please note that this setup has worked with this configuration for more than a year and it stopped working now. Your help on this greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Creating an alias - is this a bug or what??

Please let me know if this is a bug or a "feature"!!! As I understand things (a few changes since OS 6.0.4 in 1989...) there are 4 ways to create an alias when one is in a folder. For example, I'm in my Applications folder with 300 items in that folder. Generally I put my aps into a folder with the name of that app and the word folder. (I used to use ƒ but read that Unix doesn't appreciate that symbol)-- OK back to the main point: ALIAS creation - 4 ways I know to do this:
1. I right-click and choose Make Alias with the folder or icon selected
2. I hold down the option and command keys and select the folder or icon, then drag it just a bit and voilà - an alias.
3. I choose the folder or icon I want and then do cmd-L to create the alias.
4. I go to the file menu after selecting the folder and choose Make Alias
GREAT all 4 work (is there a 5th way?)--
BUT when I do choices 3 or 4, then instead of everything staying in place, the alias is created and then the screen jumps to the very top - to the "A" or numbered labeled folders / apps!
NOTE: My apps folder has the view choice to ARRANGE BY NAME. If I change this to none - then cmd-L or Make Alias just makes the alias in-place!
BUT choices 1 and 2 also keep the window of my apps folder in the same location EVEN WHEN IN THE ARRANGE BY NAME mode.
Again - is this a bug or a feature? Certainly annoying to make an alias and then have to go back and search for the alias... And note: If arrangement is SNAP TO GRID then choices 3 and 4 for creating an alias also have the screen jump to the "A" folders, i.e. the BUG!
Any comments appreciated - this is a real pain as I keep many of my folders organized by SNAP TO GRID or ORGANIZE BY NAME.

Thanks for your fast reply! There are 3 issues and I'm mainly concerned with #3- but I likely confused everyone with my long post - so let me try this:
1. Moving Apps out of the Applications folder: You are right, it is best to keep the apps in the Applications folder. Especially Apple's applications - for the update and maybe other reasons and I do that.
2. Creating an alias and where does the alias go: That's right, it has the same name and just the word alias added to the end so YES it stays right next to the original (especially when the folder is in the Arrange by Name view). So no problem there - mine is the same.
3. Third issue is really my only concern: The act of creating an alias by cmd-L or the menu: In a window that scrolls, i.e. with many apps or several apps with large icon size (I should mention I'm talking in ICON view here)-- when you make an alias, the window automatically scrolls to the very top. So if you have a folder with 300 apps in it and you make an alias of ZEBRA FOLDER, then the alias is in the correct place but the window scrolls to the top (AARDVARK Folder or whatever).
*ADDITIONAL INFO:* After several restarts - yup, this is now NOT happening very often. Mostly the window is NOT scrolling so perhaps I'm wasting your time and others with this post. Let me recheck the next few days and then post again- especially if the problem has disappeared... which it seems is the case... (I should remember to restart 2x when anything unusual before posting!)

Help! Folder Windows won't stay open in the Finder

Please, what is causing this and how do I fix it? Some folders will not stay open in the finder. For instance, when I click on the Applications folder (either the actual or alias), the window will try to open, but before it can show its content, it disappears. This doesn't happen with all folders, only some of them. This is very disturbing.
Please help if you can.

Through the network I was able to figure out what was going on. There was a weird file, its name was made up of Chinese characters. Whenever it was supposed to show up on the screen of this one mac, the window would close. I guess that particular mac isn't set up to show those characters. I was able to trash that file and that took care of it.

After 15 min my file is still converting Window 8

Hello -- my pdf files will not convert. I use the convert button on the right side. Then I went to the "save as other" - word and still the conversion just sits there

Dock folder alias's & "Open in Finder" open address book app

Hello all,
My Issue:
It would appear that any "alias" and "Open in Finder" calls to open a "folder", have instead been redirected to open "Addressbook.app".
When did it start?
After trying to figure out how to import my iPhone contacts into the "Address Book" on my "MacBook Pro". DETAILS: iTunes and multiple 3rd party apps cannot see the "contact group" on my iPhone (that contains my 250 contacts). Many hours of experimentation/troubleshooting of the iPhone address book issue, appears to have inadvertently caused the current issue.
The Details:
1) With any folders( Documents, Downloads or any others ) placed on the dock: If I select "Open in Finder" the "AddressBook" app is launched & displays a Dialog box with this message: "No cards added. No importable cards were found.".
2) Any "folder" alias created and placed on the Dock does the same thing( as item 1 above ): When the alias is clicked, the "AddressBook" app is launched & displays a Dialog box with this message: "No cards added. No importable cards were found.".
My Troubleshooting:
1) If I move the AddressBook app from the "Applications" folder to the "Desktop" folder then the following system dialog box message is displayed:
"You are opening the application 'AddressBook.app' for the first time. Are you sure you want to open this application?". It also notes that "Addressbook.app" is now located in the "Desktop" folder and, if I then choose "OK", (there after) the same issue as previously described in items 1 and 2 above occurs.
2) Same exact problem( with a different app ) is described in this post but, nothing here fixed my issue : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1746309?start=15&tstart=0
There's probably any easy fix to this that I've overlooked( seems related to "system file associations", etc) but, I'm hoping the forum members will set me straight quicker then I can stumble on the solution.

Yep, I completed all the recommendations in the post I referenced. Getting Baltwo involved is a good suggestion. I rarely post so, not sure how to do that.
I'll research and dig around the system files some more. It must be buried in there somewhere. It seems obvious that a Dock or related system setting ( that should point to Finder when opening a Folder ) has been changed to point to the Addressbook app instead. It's like a bad alias( or Windows short-cut ) pointing to the wrong thing, except it's a system setting problem ( with regards to it being a normal function of the Dock and not something a user creates, like an alias ).
One important clue: If I put Addressbook.app in the trash, everything works fine. Maybe I'll leave it in the trash and try to reinstall it from the Snow Leopard CD.
I checked out your iPhone link for the other issue that lead to all this. Unfortunately, I already went through that scenario with no success in getting my 250 contatcts into my Macbook Pro address book. The gist of that issue is all my iPhone contacts are in a group that iTunes(etc) can't see. One thing I did was recreate my contatcts group in Addressbook.app so it showed up in iTunes sync settings. Checked it, synced my phone and still didn't work. Did a bunch of other stuff too, also to no avail.

First of all see to that you gave a name to alias under
window>preferences>SAP enterprise portal . click add to enter the details of the server. Give valid host and port number. If you do this i dont see why the above problem occurs.

Why can't I download Adobe Camera Raw 8.5?

When the download is almost finished, I get the attached error message:
"Update Failed. Update could not be applied."
Here's the error code: Error Code: U44M1P7
This has happened three times in a row.
I'm on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.3
Any suggestions?

Please follow the below mentioned steps to resolve the issue:
Quit and Relaunch CC app

Open the Adobe Creative Cloud application.
Mac OS: Go to the Applications folder and open the Adobe Creative Cloud alias.
Windows 7: Go to Start > All Programs > Adobe Creative Cloud
Windows 8: Open the Adobe Creative Cloud application from the Start Screen.
Click the Apps tab in the Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
Click on All Apps, then Previous Version
Your installed CC Product would be listed, Click on Install Drop-down and then select the CC 2014 to install.
After Successful Installation, Update your Product
Let me know if you are still not able to Update ACR.
