IP Application: Control variables management

Hi experts;
I have a BW IP 7.0 Application to plan our client budget. We've built several input querys, web models, etc. That objects are controlled by some variables, like ZPLANYEAR. Let me explain you: ZPLANYEAR is a characteristic value variable for 0FISCYEAR, manual entry type, but it's not ready for input. Its default value is the planning year.
It is inside "Planning import" column of our queries, and it fixes the actual year that they are planning. Obviously, it must change each year, and it must change manually, i can not calculate it based on actual date.
And finally, the requirement is that a user must be able to do that, and  in a friendly way of course...
Does anyone know a user-friendly way to change the value of a variable, without entering BEX, or RSPLAN, etc???
Thanks in advance

Hi, Mayank.
That's exactly what i'm doing as i post your message...but i have to be carefull with internal and external values, special BW codding for characteristic values with compounded infoobjects (like 0PROFIT_CTR with its 0CO_AREA code). I guess our users won't easily understand why they must enter a profit center value with its controlling area code before, or why must they inform a fiscal year/period value in YYYYPPP format...
I still think about a function to change variable values, similar to
RRS_VAR_VALUES_EXIT_FILL
but for changing instead of reading...something more simple...something i can call in a small report
Well, thanks a lot Mayank, but i still keep message open wondering for a suitable solution in this case...
Has anyone else faced this situation before????

  • I cant access my application control in user management cosole( shared svcs

Hi all.. A bit confused....... I just migrated users and groups to Shared Services.......from essbase adminstration server and essbase server.....While migrating to shared services I created a password ( lets assume 'yyyyy') for Essbase Administration Server and Essbase Server.. Well I dont have much more users... the only user for EAS server is default one which is username/password ='admin/password'. For Essbase Server username/password=xxxxxx/xxxxxxx. But after migrating users and groups to shared services mode when I tried to login with these passwords Iam unable to login....... Then I tried to login with my old username/password..... it was successfull..
The problem is when Iam trying to assign access control to application in "user management cosole"....... it is showing the error" login failed due to invalid login credentials". And also I cant access Business Rules it is throwing the error"Refer to security guide to configure security permission for this application"...........?
Any Idea....... What should do ?
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi John......Thanks for your reply....
I did as you said but still no hope... I think Iam making a mistake at some point.... But I dont know what is it.
The Sequence what I did was
1.Started the Essbase Server (with old username/password....as it shows only one user name while it starts).
    2.Started the Essbase Administrative Server.
3.Start the EAS console...... with the old username/password=admin/password.
4.In the enterprise view I right click on the Administrative server>Externalise users> But it says "There are no users available for migration". So it seems my EAS server security has been converted to Shared Services security mode..So where can i use my new password when I created while migrating to shared services? and what is the username is it admin or some other?
5.In the enterprise view I right clicked on the essbase server. I removed the current Essbase Server. Then I tried to add Essbase Server.. Here I can see the checkbox for "Use External Authentication". So it means my essbase server has been externalised.. Well Here is the problem..When the check box is enabled it shows only username that is admin.....and password field is not highlighted.. When I click these it says" Login fails due to invalid credentials"....But I can log in (Add Esbase Server) with uncheck the "use external authentication" check box and entered the details of my old username and NEW PASSWORD which is created while migrating ESSBASE SERVER to Shared Services... then it works..........
After these prolonged process also I cant go with access control option for applications in User Managemnet Console...........
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Opening Control Center Manager Shuts Down OWB Application

We are currently using OWB Release 10g Release 2 and have not had any issues for the past 1.5 years. All of the sudden beginning last week, we started experiencing issues with the software.
    1. Last week, I logged into Design Center. No problems. I then went to Tools - Control Center Manager. As the Control Center window attempted to open, it shut down the entire OWB application. Interesting. I logged in as a different user and was able to get in later.
    2. As of today, I don't have any issues with OWB. I'm able to get to Control Center without any problems.
    3. My co-worker is experiencing the same problem that I had last week. As soon as he tries to open Control Center Manager, all of OWB shuts down including Design Center. He restarted his PC, tried to log in as a different user, etc. but nothing seems to help.
We looked under the C:\OraHome_1\owb\log directory but nothing is there. Does anyone have any clues as to what is going on or where we can check to see what is causing this problem?
    OWB Client 10.2.0.4.36
    OWB Repository 10.2.0.4.0
    Thanks,
    Jennifer

    Hi Jennifer
Worth starting the OWB client using the batch or shell script depending on your platform (either owb/bin/win32 or owb/bin/unix/owbclient.sh) and pasting the standard output from the console window into the forum when you do this, it might have some clues.
    Cheers

  • Error while executing transport in HANA's application life-cycle management

    Hi everyone,
we're currently developing our HANA-based software and would like to use HANA's application life-cycle management: transporting our product from one system to another. Everything seems to be set up correctly: two different systems, correct privileges, a product comprising delivery units comprising packages as well as a transport route between the systems. However, the transport always fails with the following error (example for a transport of a single DU):
[imdbhdb][HDB][2014.05.07 15:10.01.404][TransportService][0] Transport (delta) has been started for route ID: 1020 (Deliver Unit Transport)

[imdbhdb][HDB][2014.05.07 15:10.12.402][TransportService][0] There will be 1 delivery units which will be transported.
[imdbhdb][HDB][2014.05.07 15:10.12.895][TransportService][12] Failed for DU: PERSISTENCE Vendor: LO Error: HTTP request failed. Status: 500. Error: Unable to retrieve end export time stamp.
[imdbhdb][HDB][2014.05.07 15:10.12.917][TransportService][12] TransportServiceError: Error occurred while performing the transport.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Lukas

    Hi everyone,
I am sorry I bothered you with this error. It was caused by me since I forgot to export a top-level file. This file must have defined a variable errText which other DUs depended on and could therefore not be activated.
Now, the transport works perfectly well and I'm really happy with it.
    All the best
    Lukas

  • Application Server Enterprise Manager

    Hello,
I have just finished installing application server 10g. Everything went smoothly during install, but I have a question. I know that it states that it is installing a database that you configure which happened and I can access through SQL+. I am trying to locate the database control - enterprise manager - for this newly created database. Does this product come with the application server? I have tried accessing it on all kinds of different ports, but all I get is the app server control console. I'm beginning to think it's not included, but I am unsure.....
    Thanks!
    Jordan

    Jordan,
No it doesn't... I assume what you want is the Grid control.
But please try to submit this type of questions in the General forum:
Oracle Application Server - General or in the
    Enterprise Manager - Grid Control
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • ZMM 2.5 Policy Suite, Application Control, Whitelisting

Reference: Novell Documentation: ZENworks Mobile Management - Table of Contents
The ZMM manuals are not quite clear what they mean by "Whitelisting" under the Policy Suite, Application Control sections. I'm assuming ZMM application "whitelisting" means that only listed apps can run or at least only listed apps can be installed and run. Is assumption correct? Has anyone done this successfully on Android devices with the ZMM agent an enrolled Touchdown? If so, could you provide details on how it was done? Ideally we'd like to take an inventory list of a working device set of applications, add them to the whitelist, and force the user to come to the administrator for new applications, regardless of their google play/alternative market access.
    Thoughts?

This looks like a Endpoint security product for Android, right?
    Niels
    Hi Niels,
Did you happen see the link? No, the SureLock product allows Application Control/Application whitelisting right on the android device with full administrator control. We wrongly thought ZMM could whitelist Android apps (shame on us - we neglected to test that before we purchased. Lessons learned - give yourself time to test everything in your requirements list prior to purchase). Our initial testing of SureLock went very smoothly, it does not interfere with the ZMM agent or Touchdown. The users see only what you want them to see - apparently even without root access on the android device. We are now using it in conjunction with ZMM on our Mobile devices. There are others that offer similar functionality in conjunction with ZMM - take a look at Clutch Mobile App Protector Pro that is coming soon for iOS as well ( https://www.clutchmobile.com/products/appprotector ). We do not have iOS, so SureLock is fine for our needs in conjunction with ZMM...

  • It policy application control

Hey, i need some help with removing my applications. Whenever i try to the error pops up and says: It policy application control. When i try to delete the module stuff it says that to. I personally have never ben involved in any company or IT network. Now LONG story short i kind of have a reycled-part blackberry (everything works perfectly except this!), so the IT policy part might of had connections to a IT network at sometime. I tried using the desktop manager to delete the apps, hell i even reset the OS (i did however backup/recover the phone.... could this be the problem?) In conclusion: How do i delete the It policy?
    some info:
    phone: 8310
    Carrier: ATT

    thanks in advance!
    Solved!

hello, what you need to do is remove the IT policy from the previous life of your Blackberry device.
You have many tutorials on how to do that here :

    Hi,
I'm not able to access the term store. I get an below mentioned error.
"The Managed Metadata Service or Connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or Managed Metadata Web Service may not have been started. Please Contact your Administrator. "
Since this is happening on my local machine (Dev environment). I have full control on the term store and the all the site collections.
Hence, this is not a permission issue.
I have checked, the Metadata service is active on the machine. All the application pools in IIS is running.
After reading one of the recommendation on internet, I created a new Managed Metadata Service.
After which I was able access both (old and new) MMS from Central Admin only (highlight the MMS from manage service applications and click Manage ) and not from the site collection (term store management).
Now again its not working after I did an IISRESET.
The managed metadata service (Managed Metadata Service Connection) is grayed out.
    ULS Error says:

    Hi Victoria,
    Thanks for your reply
I tried making all the changes you had recommended and which are mentioned in the link you have provided.
I tried making all possible combination of changes to the web.config and client.config files but it does not make any difference to the environment.
One thing is that, my error in ULS logs has changed.

  • Variable Manager in Labview 10

I have a question about the thing that was called the "variable manager" in Labview 8.2.1
I just installed Labview 10 Developement system and also the DSC-module (on an other pc).
But I can not find the variable manager.
Is this one replaced by the NI Distributed System Manager?
I hope someone can tell me more about this.
    Thnx

    Dear Cheese11,
one short addition; the multiple variable editor (which comes with the DSC module) can be found when rightclicking a library in your project explorer; chose edit variables.

  • (OWB 10g R2) Control Center Manager won't start

    Hi,
I'm in the middle of upgrading from OWB10g Release 1 to OWB10g Release 2 on a testbox.
I have completed the steps to upgrade the runtime metadata (I did the Move, then I upgraded the locations and then I ran the tcl script in OMBPlus).
Now, I have gone to the DEFAULT_CONFIGURATION for my project and I updated the default control center for my project.
    Follow me so far?
Okay, here's the problem.... when I try to start the "Control Center Manager" from the Design Center's Tool menu.... I see nothing but a grey window with a titlebar and nothing else.
This happens regardless of whether I try to launch the Control Center Manager from a windows client or the linux server.
On the linux server I see this output after I enter the username and password to connect to the Control Center Manager:

When I run show_service.sql it says the Control Center Service is Available. (See below).
    ==================================
    Connected to:
Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.4.0 - Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
    SQL> @./show_service.sql
    Available
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL>
    ===================================
And when I do a ps command on linux I see the process running.
    oracle 23349 1 0 12:03 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/owb/owb/bin/unix/run_service.sh -automatic 1 /u01/app/o
    oracle 23351 23349 0 12:03 ? 00:00:02 ../../../jdk/jre/bin/java -Xmx768M -Djava.awt.headless=true -DORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/prod
Do you suggest I run the service_doctor.sql even though the service looks like it is available?
    Thanks.

You need to make sure that RDS is enabled per
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_17276.
Make sure both the RDSServlet mapping and definition sections are
not commented out as described in the "To enable ColdFusion Remote
Development Services on ColdFusion MX and higher" of the article.
Make sure you restart the CF Application server after editing
    the web.xml file.

  • Is there a way to secure Variable Manager in the RPD?

We would like to grant ability to access Variable Manager to selected developers. Is it possible?
    Thank you

    Hi
Clarify your objective of giving access of Variable Manager. So, in a controlled dev environment, you may either allow developers to add variables or reset default values.
You can achieve both by adding variables using udml 'Declare RP Variable.....Declare Session Variable...' and loading through nqudmlexec in /bin folder
This should help for the above purpose
