IP Daily Headaches

Snow Leopard is causing major problems with DHCP handling. I have tried the fixes noted on other posts. I have spoken with Apple. I am running 10.6.1. I have an Airport Express connected to an XRouter Pro. My MacPro connects via Ethernet to the XRouter. All of my other devices use the Airport for WiFi. When I turn on a new device, I get IP address conflicts. Sometimes they resolve quickly, other times, it kills my broadband connection altogether. Everything worked fine until Snow Leopard was installed. GRRRRRRR.

Is it any two devices on the network that get the conflict or the MacPro and the device just switch on. If its always includes the MacPro then:-
I presume you are using the XRouter for DHCP.
Is it possible to put a fixed IP on the MacPro (OK a bit a fudge) and put it out of the DHCP range but within the same subnet. You could say start the DHCP server 192.168.100/24 for 50 addresses, the router on 192.168.1.1/24 and your MacPro on 192.168.1.2/24.
You will have to use addresses that match your current setup the above are examples but it should stop the conflict until you can get a proper fix from either Apple on XRouter.

Sick of updates

Before Symbian Anna got released I was over the moon with my N8, I could show off features and how good my phone was, since this update, and the two new updates I would steer people clear of this phone.
Problems that I have come across:
1) Battery life has gone from being amazing, lasting pretty much 2 days, to not even lasting half a day, and my usage hasn't changed, and There are no background programs even running either, even over night it loses battery life....
2) web browsing has sped up, but usability has been cut. typing texting into a web browser page is horride to say the least, the screen doesn't follow the text so you can't see what you type, and it becomes very slow when doing so.
3) Texting, one of the biggest things for me was writing a text, even from conversations it would open a big window and you could see pretty much everything you write. Now it has a two line viewing panel so you can still see the conversation... Not a good move. and what bugs me most is I love T9 keyboard I text pretty fast but when I am writing a text and it goes to the next line, it freezes and doesn't understand anything you put untill you wait.
4) The MAJOR thing for me was the whole 'drag and drop' of .avi files, now it doesn't seem to support this?? for real.... I might as well go and get an iPhone if I have to take more of my own time to convert a film for my phone...
5) E-mail syncing, Why on earth would you disable the feature to stop the e-mails auto synicing, I have had to delete my e-mail accounts off the phone because a couple of times a day my phone would freeze and would take ages to recover because of this stupid feature.
6) The phone doesn't tell you when you have no signal that you had any missed calls, That surely is basic stuff... never had a phone that couldn't be bothered to give me a notiforcation.
I have gone from loving this phone to more or less hating it, it is a daily headache for me now and fed up. I am going to try and get rid off Anna and revert back to the old one, if that fails I am just going to go for an iPhone, because what made it HUGELY unique you have taken away... and for me to rant like this means I am on the last straw, sorry Nokia.
And the thing that winds me up more is I have tried so much to put this right, and to fix it, And I know 3 other people with this same phone, and they all have the same problems... Very let down.

The only thing I cannot comment on is your point 5) as I don't auto sync emails. However, for the rest, I do not experience the problems that you seem to have. I do find the battery runs down quite fast if I am sending or receiving very large files over Wifi but that is to be expected but is long lasting otherwise. And as you say if you compose sms in conversations mode there is limited space for typing - but I suspect the only answer to that is a much bigger screened phone or don't compose in conversations mode.
So either you are doing something wrong or your phone has a problem. Have you tried reinstalling the updates again?

I am running FF6 on Linux Mint 9 LXDE.

Whenever I bring my computer out of suspend and go to open FF, I get the error message that FF is already running and I must shut that down or restart my computer. Since my FF is already closed, that means I have to restart my computer. I did not have this problem with FF5 (or any of the versions before that). I would like to return to FF5, but it is no longer in my package manager since FF6 is out. How can I get FF5 back and stick with it instead of "upgrading" to FF6?
All I want to do is go back to FF5 and stick with it. I liked FF5, and I did not have problems with it. FF6 is giving me daily headaches and I do not want it. But the package manager for my OS is keeping up with updates, and therefore I no longer have FF5 available in the repositories. Is there a way to make FF5 the most up to date version in the repos?At least until whatever problem FF6 is having is fixed? The error message comes up every time I come back form a suspend, and often when I have left the computer going while I am away from it and have just come back and try to open FF. One reason I use Linux is to avoid constantly having to restart my computer, and FF6 is ruining that.

There are other folders that Firefox scans for plugins.<br />
You can also try to create a plugin folder in the current Firefox profile folder and place the softlink in that folder.

With both OS on occasion the phone will hang up on a DC (direct connect) call. You can go back to the homescreen, but any attempts at a call bring you back to the conversation you were in, only you can't make a connection with that person or exit out. Sometimes resetting the Mobile Network will clear it, other times a reboot is required. Another issue is in the middle of phone call the phone will go from the earpiece to the speaker with no way of getting it back until the call is ended.

I am currently working on one myself with this issue...

This is a dispatchers phone who needs Direct Connect continuously throughout the day to speak to HotShot drivers and his phone freezes completely (you can't even go back to the homescreen) when he is using the Direct Connect repeatedly during the day, he can do a battery pull to unfreeze it but he can use the direct connect right after the pull and it will freeze up again, he ends up having to do near constant pulls. I was hoping upgrading the OS would fix the problem...I'm going to go ahead and do the upgrade anyway just in case.
I am extremely disapointed with the 8350i, I have about 150 on our account right now that drivers (BIS for drivers) and dispatchers use and I have a lot more problems with them than the Sprint Blackberry 8330's or 8530's. Unless your REALLY need a Nextel Blackberry I would not do it.
If anyone finds a fix for this please let me know, it would cure my near daily headaches.

I am owning an Iphone 5 for a year now. Its battery problem is giving a lot of headache to me daily ! If I use internet for over 10 minutes continuously or play any game for 10 minutes, the battery is dropping by 15-30%.Please help me !

Whenever I am browsing the internet or playing a game, the battery is dropping by 15-30 % daily. I am able to use only 70 percent of the fully charged Iphone battery in this way. ! It is very frustrating with this kind of thing from Apple. Can any body please help me out ! I love iPhone but this prolonged problem is giving me a lot of headache ! Any hellp will be appreciated.

How long are you using internet for? Are you using WiFi or mobile data? Are you watching video on websites? There are many variables that could explain a perfectly natural battery drain. As I said previously you should try recalibrating the battery. My phone used to drain by mid-afternoon with little to no use until I found out about recalibrating. Since then its been fine and its something I do at least once a month.

MacBook Pro Retina 15 - Eyestrain and Headaches

Hello all!
I would like to come back to the eyestrain topic. This problem was discussed intensively, and I've been following the long thread about LED causing eyestrain on MacBooks, but I don't know if we reached a conclusion.
Well. I bought a MacBook Pro Retina 15 (Mid 2014) three weeks ago and since then I have eyestrain, headaches, red eyes and dry eyes daily. I've never felt such things in years working with computers.
Like some people, I think that I don't have issues with LED screens. My old laptop has a glossy LED screen, I have LED TV in my house and I never ever had such symptoms!
I've directly contacted Apple Support too, but the only thing they've told me is that I should have my eyes checked, since there is nothing wrong with the machine. ****! My eyes are not the problem too! I am 29 years old, and I wear reading glasses, because I have small degree of myopia.... my lens have a special coating anti-glare and with UV protection (Crizal). But nothing seems to help me to have a painless experience using the rMBP. Due to that eyestrain, I went to an opthamologist, but he hasn't found anything wrong with my eyes!
I feel tremendously sad, frustrated and disappointed that this is happening with me (and other people), even more when this is my first Apple product. So sad.
Well, guys. I don't know what to do anymore! I tried everything that I could: went to the doctor, increased and lowered the resolution (i am using Best for retina now), increased and lowered the screen brightness; tried to use f.lux app and Shades. And these symptoms appears both when using the Intel Iris as the GT 750M. I'm using Mavericks, but tried the Yosemite too.
Nothing worked!
I still don't tried to put a screen protector, but I guess that also will not work. By the way, someone knows a good screen protector to test?
Besides, anyone knows if this issue is due the LED backlid, software related, PWD, refresh rate or what? Anyone reached a conclusion? Or, more important, anyone knows how to fix it?
Apple never expressed respect. And although we are the exception, I think it would be important to have a satisfaction about what is happening. And not just talk that the problem is in our eyes.
I would not want to get rid the machine - I liked it very much! But I think that sell this Mac is the only way to me. I don't want to stay with a computer that I can't use like I want, because it is hurting me.
This is very disapointing... so if anyone could help me, I'll be very glad.

ITunes U Report Raw Daily log errors !

today I've downloaded again all raw daily logs now in format tsv.
I've discovered that they have with multiple errors like field shifted and wrong characters ( i.e instead of ü I've found square root symbols).
The good point is that the new reports look to have more records per day compared to the old reports: old reports had missing record.

The random errors like truncations, fields shifted or missing, messy data in the report is really a headache to us. We are unable to generate a summarised report base on those messy data.
Say, one of the title value is 'Basic Chinese 1". In the report, some of the title values becomes:

There is no way we could identify such error without eyeball checking.
Besides, we can't identify the item being downloaded/browsed using the ITUNES_ID either, since they are different (sometimes).
To Apple Support, please fix it as soon as possible. Or could you resume the weekly summary report email before problem solved??

Daily Portion?

For measured billing we have to interface to an existing legacy work management system that can only process and schedule meter reading activity on a daily basis. Usually I have always defined portions for a weekly period for half yearly read meters (26 portions read twice a year). I would like to avoid having to set up daily portions as this seems overkill and a maintenance headache in the future (when hopefully work management will be bought into scope).
Is there any way that I could restrict the number of installations downloaded on a daily basis without resorting to daily portions?

I guessed as much - Unfortunately the client is determined to keep the solution as 'vanilla' as possible and any enhancements are hard fought.
Daily portions may have to be the answer in the short term - but there may be tears later.

Excel Workbook with Excel Data Model stored on SharePoint - daily refresh

I'm not sure if this is exactly the right forum but I'm hoping that someone here can either answer or point me in the right direction.
I have an Excel Workbook with an Excel Data Model.
The Excel Data Model uses SQL to contact our data warehouse and pull through data into tables.
We are storing the Workbook on a SharePoint site and viewing it using Excel Services.
The data in our data warehouse is updated daily and so I would like to refresh the workbook daily and remove the option to refresh the data in the browser.
Is this possible with a workbook that has an Excel Data Model (I've seen lots of posts that relate to workbooks with connections to tabular models).

You can use table MSEG for that purpose. Try BUDAT-MKPF as one of the selection parameters and use
MBLNR-MKPF = MBLNR-MSEG
MJHAR-MKPF = MJHAR-MSEG
Sort the results in ERFMG-MSEG and ERFME-MSEG using
BWART-MSEG = 101 minus 102 (for production)
SOBKS-MSEG = E
BWART-MSEG = 601 minus 602 (for sales).
Above stuff might be useful to you for your development requirement provided you are having Sales Order specific production.

Time Interval for Daily Calendar in APEX 3

"Now looking at what I can see on apex.oracle.com, are you saying we'd just have to modify the daily calendar template?"The template only control the look of the calendar, not its functionality. If the default daily view meets your needs, you don't have to define any new templates.
"I'd imagine that the whatever is creating the tags that will be displayed by the template needs changing to incorporate the other 15 minute cells I would add"Most of the calendar functionality you can control can be defined on the "Calendar Attributes" tab. The most important is the date column. If this column includes reference of time (on top of the date, of course) the APEX engine will automatically associate your entry with the proper "Hour" row. You are not adding cells. You are adding calendar entries. If several of these entries share the same hour slot, APEX will put all of then in the same row.
The best way to understand it is simply define these entries. As I understand, you have access to apex.oracle.com, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Anyone know how to get this app back from Apple? Loading the Nike app from the app store is not the same thing as you need gps running continually for it to work (as with an iphone). Can't have that with my ipod unless I'm connected to wifi. Help?? Thanks.

If you go to Settings do you see an entry for the Nike app? There is no way to delete or hide that app?
Have you tired using the Spotlight search? Maybe you just can't find it.
Next would be to restore a gain. First from backup then next to factory settings/new iPod.

Does work on the iPOd. You just do not get all the information that GPS/cellular connection can get. You will still be able to get distance/footstrikes like the installed app an you do not need the shoe sensor.. It uses the built-in sensors on the iPod

If you want to check the records daily instead of checking the data in R/3 manually ......
You can try this...
If you have staging DSO(level 1) that means whatever data is in source system load it to Staging DSO without any routines or any modifications.
Now load this DSO data to Cube or DSO(level 2) as per your requirement with routines etc.
Now Staging DSO contains Source system data.
Now the level 2 Cube or DSO contains BW data with some modifications.
Now create a Multiprovider based on level 1 and level 2 data targets.
Now create a report on which keyfigures you want to test the data.
In Multiprovider there is a field called 0infoprovider in data packet dimension.
you can drag this infoprovider to the columns and restict your keyfigures with level 1 and level 2 data targets.
In the first column you can see the level 1 DSO data ( source system data),in the 2nd column you can see the BW data.
Now create a formula which gives the diffrence b/n level 1 and level2.
that is R/3 data - BW data.
If the diffrence is zero both R/3 and BW data are same.
if the diffrence is not eqaul to zero check whether any routine is there or not.

Adobe Creative Cloud application manager asks for daily login

Hi,
While I am I am at home or work, I can easily login to my Adobe Cloud services, in two months I'm going to be on a boat in the middle of nowhere with little, if any, Internet access. I will need to use this software offline for about a week and I need to nip this problem in the bud now.
Why am I being asked to login daily? This started after the credit card I was using for the monthly fee was stolen and I waited for its replacement. During that time my account was suspended but has since been updated, charged, and things should be back to normal with my new credit card but they are not.
Can anyone please tell me how to fix this?

well Jeff...nothing changed. I am leaving at 0600 tomorrow morning for 10 days and i have no use of the adobe tools when i am not connected to the internet. i told the rep khahil or whatever his name was and he said something along the lines of the problem with my account does not matter because i have a payment due in june and i asked him twice what that has to do with anything and he never replied.
i am sick to death of the good for nothing reps. they do not understand english. they do not seem to care (at least the ones I've had the misfortune of working with). when i tell one of them to call me at 10am CDT and he calls me not once, not twice but 4 times after I've told him when I am available and he cannot seem to do it.
I updated the installer. I have done everything I was told to do or suggested I do and this 'cloud' service is not what i am paying for. i am paying for something that works as advertised and this comes no where near it. no where does the plan's fine print say that i must maintain a constant connection to the internet for the tools/applications to work.
no where does the terms and conditions say that i need to log in every time i reboot my computer or lose my internet connectivity. if this is the future of adobe...i am not looking forward to it. forcing all users to this rental software model is insane especially when it does not work...and mine clearly does not work.
so now i am leaving on a trip with no lightroom and no photoshop and after i began working on this a month ago with you. i made the mistake of trusting your technical support people to know their business and to handle your clients with some sense of urgency.
when i return, i will be calling your executive offices and i will tell them in detail how frustrating this whole process has been which has only been aggrevated with your poor technical support team. Jeff...I honestly feel like you're the only Adobe representative that I have talked to up to this date that actually gives a flying flip about my experience. the people i have been handed off to both in chat, on the phone, and the other tech i've talked to on this forum who told me that my problem "doesn't matter" and never responded to my last question posted yesterday afternoon, clearly do not care about anyone.
count me as VERY UNHAPPY with Creative Cloud as a product and my opinion is it is a failure and a waste of my money. I should have bought the disc version and not gone down this 'rental software' route.
