IP DSLAM and Ethernet ring

Dear All,
I need to make a gigabit ethernet ring with L3 Switches and IP DSLAMS. That is the switch ethernet port is connected to IP DSLAM ethernet uplink port and the other ethernet uplink port of same DSLAM is connected to the other L3 switch ethernet port and simeleraly form a ring.
Is this type of network ring is possible which have switches and IP DSLAM in same ring.
If yes pls send any case study of this type architecture.
I waite for your quick responce.
With Regards
Anand

hi anand
which model or type of switches & ip dslams ur gonna deploy to form this ring ?
coz i did face some interoperability probs with Cisco switch and Ericsson Dslams..
Afaik its fine between Cisco switch and Lucent Dslams, but we didnt install them off in a ring mode.
though the main core was in ring mode using cisco swtich the connectivity to the dslam is just a spur and it didnt come or form any ethernet ring..
do revert if u need more details on the same..

    Hi Anand,
Check this link from Lightreading, it gives some nice information about IP DSLAM vendors and specifications. You can check what is your exact requirement.

  • STP/RSTP/MST in a Metro Ethernet ring

We are building a large Metro ethernet Network . The topology consists of BN ( cat 3550 switches ) on a GIG ethernet ring . We intend to use 14 Building node (3550)siwtches in the ring and then aggregate the Gigabit ring onto a 7609 at the Aggregation site .
Can anybody suggest whether I should use RSTP or MST and minimise the convergence/reconvergence period in cases of fiber cut on the ring .
    Hrishikesh

Of the two, RSTP is the simpler techonology, while
MST obviously scales better. There are more edge
cases to consider with MST, and we concluded it
needed lots more lab testing before we would be
comfortable with it. RSTP (in Cisco's Rapid-PVST
version) is very simple to deploy.
We are using Rapid-PVST everywhere we can.

  • Use airport for internet and ethernet for local?

Hi. Ive searched around and cant find an answer for this.
I have a 27" imac connected to my router and all works fine for accessing the internet.
I have several other devices close by that I want to connect via ethernet. If i connect the imac to another router via ethernet I can browse my local devices but loose internet connectivity. It is as if the imac will suspend the airport connection while the ethernet cable is connected. I don't want my second router to act as a bridge as it doesn't support N speeds.
Essentially, I want the imac to use airport for internet and the ethernet port for local files.... The only workaround I have is to unplug the ethernet cable from the back of the imac when i want to use the internet. I'm hoping it's just a DNS issue, but cant seem to resolve it.
I do not need internet connectivity for the other devices and don't see how i can do that without enabling the wireless side of my second router and then creating a bridge...
    Any suggestions?

It is as if the imac will suspend the airport connection while the ethernet cable is connected.
The Connection Order on your iMac is set so that if both AirPort and Ethernet are "on", the iMac will give priority to the Ethernet connection.
If you want to configure your iMac so that it gives priority to an AirPort connection if both AirPort and Ethernet are "on", give this a try:
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock) and open Network
Click on the small gear icon at the bottom of the connection list on the left
Click on Set Service Order and drag AirPort to the top of the connection order list
    Click OK, then click Apply
Now, if both AirPort and Ethernet are active, your iMac will give priority to the AirPort connection. If you want to connect using Ethernet, you will have to turn AirPort off by clicking the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of your computer screen.

  • Home Sharing not working between wireless PC's / devices and ethernet wired PC's on the same router.

Home Sharing is not working between wireless PC's / devices and ethernet wired PC's on the same router.  I installed a new Verizon FIOS ActionTec  MI424WR GigE wireless / ethernet router, replacing the original FIOS router.  With the old router Home Sharing worked fine across and among all iOS and Windows wired and wireless devices.  With the new router Home Sharing works between and among the Wired PC's but not between the wired PC's and the Wireless connected PC's or iOS devices.  Home Sharing also works between and among the wireless connected PC's and iOS decices but not between them and the wired PC's.
Only the router was changed.  No changes were made to any of the devices except all were updated with the latest version of iTunes 10.7.0.21 and the iSO devices were updated to iOS vrsion 6.01.  Three PC's are wired and all are running Windows 7.  There also is a Windows Home Server connected to the router by ethernet port.  It does not run iTunes but does provide WebDAV services to my iOS devices.  This works fine.  Two PC's are wireless, one running Windows 7 and one running Windows 8.  All of the PC's are connected to the same (new) router via it's ethernet ports and it's wireless access point.  Two of the wired PC's are connected via a high-speed  ethernet hup that is connected to the router (Home Sharing works fine between the two PC's on the hub and the PC on the router).  All wired and wireless devices on the router are visible and members of the router's Home/Office virtual network.
All of the PC's are visible in the Windows network and all shared files are accessable from all PC's, both wired and wireless.
Obviously the router seems to be the issue, something between the ethernet and the wireless access point components.  I checked the settings and found nothing that would prevent Home Sharing between the wired and wireless devices.  There is no setting that isolates the wireless network.  I have done the following:
Read the router user manual and checked all the settings
    Rebooted the router and tested.
Turned off the router's firewall and tested.
Home Sharing is turned on all the devices and all use the same Apple ID.
    Restarted iTunes and tested.
Verified iTunes is "Allowed" in each PC's firewall.
Again, I can Home Share between the two wireless PC's but not between either of the wireless PC's and any of the wired PC's.  I can Home Share between my iPads and iPhones and either of the two wireless PC's but not with any of the wired PC's.  I can Home Share between any of the wired PC's but not between any wired PC and a wireless PC or iOS device.
I hope someone may have had a similar problem and has a fix suggestion.  I'm stumped!  I have a;so contacked ActionTec and awaiting an answer.

    Solution from ActionTec is:
    Log into your router.
    Click the Advanced icon
    Cclick Yes
    Click on the IGMP Proxy
    Select Disable
    Click Apply

  • Access to serial and ethernet port in FPGA for cRIO-9068

    hi

    thanks for help

but how i can i acquire image with IP camera and fpga ???
The Ethernet hardware interface in the cRIO is not directly connected to the FPGA backplane in a way that you could directly access it. Even if you could it would be a pretty bad idea to try to do. A fully operational TCP/IP network stack implementation in the FPGA would not leave much resources for anything else even on the biggest FPGAs available. That doesn't include support for the typical image compression algorithmes which are even more complicated to implement on FPGA. Even if you would go to highly optimized VHDL code directly it would be a pretty difficult thing to do!
In fact implemenintg the MAC and PHY of an ethernet interface on the FPGA is totally trivial in comparison. The IP level could also be implemented fairly easily in the FPGA but anything above that is going to give you bad headaches and still will be very limited in number of connections and packet sizes it can support.

  • I've got an iPad and iPhone 4S, both of which are set up for facetime. When someone calls me, both the iPad and phone ring, even though the phone is set to receive facetime calls on the number and the iPad is set for an email account. why is this?

I've got an iPad and iPhone 4S, both of which are set up for facetime. When someone calls me, both the iPad and phone ring, even though the phone is set to receive facetime calls on the number and the iPad is set for an email account.
How can I change the setup so on the email only the iPad rings and on the phone number only the phone rings?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

  • Both thunderbolt display and ethernet stopped working at the same time

I use recent Macbook pro 13inch retina.  I use both of thunderbolt ports on ethernet and display.
I was messing around with application, and I found chess game. I played it for while than my display and ethernet suddenly stopped working.
I do know ethernet and display is working fine because My roommate still have access to the ethernet, and My xbox still works on my display monitor.
So, I suspected its thunderbolt problem, and I reinstalled Mavericks twice and reseted SMC and NVRAM, which didn't solve anything.
Do you have any suggestion before I take this computer to Apple store?

So the ports still work, and the display still lights up when you use it with your xbox? Are you sure about the xbox part, I didn't think the thunderbolt display worked with an xbox.

  • MB Air cannot see TC 1T '09 while connected via WiFi and Ethernet.

I have a TC 1T 2009 7.4.1 that I have set up successfully with MB Pro and MB White. However I cannot set it up with MB Air v.1 which is connected to TC via WiFi AND Ethernet cable. Internet is fine (Safari) but no TM - when I run APU 5.4.1 it cannot discover the TC it is connected to.
I tried connecting after hard-reset (poke/power on), it would see the TM but then hang forever reading the configuration. So I set it up with MB Pro and MB White and both are now working fine with TC/TM. Then I tried MB Air and it failed.
The TC is connected via ethernet to Sagem router (bridged mode) which supplies WAN and DHCP, it has its own WiFi as well.

And by the way, Hi Everyone, how rude of me not to greet you in the post.
    Thanks for any help!

  • How to handle DLSw for SDLC and token-ring to same remote peer

We have the need to have SDLC and token-ring connections from one local router to a the same remote site. Currently we have a remote peer for token-ring:
    dlsw port-list 10 TokenRing0/0
    dlsw remote-peer 10 tcp a.b.c.d lf 1500
We have an SDLC link on a serial port. I understand that SDLC is part of group 0. How do I also get the SDLC traffic to the same remote peer? Is it as simple as adding another remote peer statement to the same IP?
    dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp a.b.c.d lf 1500

Do you have your token ring configuration complete to bridge to DLSW ?
    for example;
    source-bridge ring-group 2000
    dlsw local-peer peer-id 150.150.10.1
    dlsw remote-peer 0 tcp 150.150.10.2
    interface loopback 0
    ip address 150.150.10.1 255.255.255.0
    interface serial 0
    ip address 150.150.11.1 255.255.255.192
    interface serial 1
description PU2 with SDLC station role set to secondary
    no ip address
    encapsulation sdlc
    no keepalive
    clockrate 9600
    sdlc role primary
    sdlc vmac 4000.9999.0100
    sdlc address 01
    sdlc xid 01 05d20006
    sdlc partner 4000.1020.1000 01
    sdlc dlsw 1
    interface serial 2
description Node Type 2.1 with SDLC station role set to negotiable or primary
    encapsulation sdlc
    sdlc role prim-xid-poll
    sdlc vmac 1234.3174.0000
    sdlc address d2
    sdlc partner 1000.5aed.1f53 d2
    sdlc dlsw d2
    interface tokenring 0
    no ip address
    ring-speed 16
    source-bridge 100 1 2000
    source-bridge spanning
If your SDLC link is working through DLSW (it is in DLSW ring group 10 according to your first configuration statement and port list statement and must match at both ends), it should be an easy modification to add the token ring configuration to join the bridge to the remote DLSW router.

  • Make network to connect wireless and ethernet macs

i have a macbook that connects via Airport, and a Mac Pro that connects via ethernet.
In the past - I've had no problems connecting/sharing between 2 macs, but both were sharing one airport.
Since plugging in the MacPro, I'm no longer able to share between the airport connected macbook and ethernet connected MacPro.
Seems like it should be simple and I'm feeling silly.
    help?

    wireless mac -
    ip - 10.0.1.2
    subnet - 255.255.255.0
    router - 10.0.1.1
    macpro ethernet -
    ip - 192.168.15.2
    subnet - 255.255.255.0
    router - 192.168.15.1
I had tried doing a manual setting on the ethernet connected mac (which is plugged into the back of the airport, btw) - changed all settings to match the wireless mac, but still am not able to print wireless to the ethernet mac. when I look under "sharing" on the ethernet mac, the ip still shows up as 192.168.15.1, even after manual config....
    thanks in advance

  • Using Airport And Ethernet Together

Having read Christopher Breen's solution to using Airport and Ethernet together,
    http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/mac911/2006/10/airportswitch/index.php
I am still wondering if this can apply to my situation. I have an Airport Exteme BS distributing the wireless signal on it's own node. Nothing is physically connected to the BS except an ethernet cable running to a hub which is connected to the cable modem. While my ISP service isn't supplying service faster than Airport will manage, no problem...but, I would like to have the advantage ethernet networking between my machines for all the advantages that ethernet speed can bring to that situation.
My connection to the internet is from WAN from the cable modem. I have an ethernet connection from the BS that I can run a cable back to say, an iBook. Will this work? I want wireless internet, but ethernet for machine to machine networking.

    iBook G3/500 G4/Dual 450 Mac OS X (10.4)
    iBook G3/500 G4/Dual 450 Mac OS X (10.4)

Helpful response, but I am uncertain this is what I am after. First, the hub is at the other end of the house, inconvenient to run a cable to it in this way. Presently, "Distribute IP Addresses" is turned off. This is way it had to be set since the AEBS is on a separate node. I just wonder why I can't run a cable from the AEBS LAN port back to the iBook. Looking for best possible speed when networking from my studio G4 while keeping the wireless internet setting.
Any reason making the config the way I am imagining will not work?

  • Upgrade to OS 6.0 wiped out pictures and custom ring tones

Anyone else have these issues? Sure would have been nice to know that would happen, but of course no mention was made in any of the propoganda RIM released. I'm not happy at all with the look and feel and want my pics and custome ring/text tones back! And, this was supposed to be an upgrade? Howcome they took away all the different options for ringers that were built into the phone?

    Hi,
Make sure if any of the field in the structure is_vekp is populated...
Do one thing. write a small program..declare the same structure as of IS_VEKP.
    Don't populate anything...
And then add the check statement as in the sap program...
find out what's happening in the debugging..
