Ip ftp username command fails

I am trying to set up the default ftp username and password but get the following error. Can't see any reason for it and checked the manuals.
mensa# config t

mensa(config)# ip ftp username cisco

Same happens for the password
when I check the options I have for ip
mensa(config)# ip ?
access-list Configure ip access list
default-gateway Configure ip default gateway
default-network Configure ip default network
domain-list Add additional domain names
domain-lookup Enable/Disable DNS
domain-name Specify default domain name
name-server Specify nameserver address
route Configure static routing
routing Enable ip routing
tcp Enable ip tcp path-mtu-discovery
Is there something else I have to do first ?
Any help much appreciated
Thanks

    I have tried
    cd 1
    cd 2
    cd 3via XP ftp client and it is working fine. So I assume this is what Java class does after parsing FTP url.
    Could you please elaborate on your statement "Not only that, it looks as if may not be doing
    cd /1 as you might expect, and this could be a problem if your user account has a default working directory assigned by the FTP server. "
    As you pointed out, it might be something related to FTP home directory.

  • C# FTP Download Script Fails

    //request.Proxy = null;
    FileStream outputStream = new FileStream(@"C:\Downloads\Files\" + FTPFile, FileMode.Create);
    reqFTP = (FtpWebRequest)FtpWebRequest.Create("ftp://username:[email protected]/" + "gem" + FTPFile);
    reqFTP.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.DownloadFile;
    reqFTP.UseBinary = true;
    reqFTP.Credentials = new NetworkCredential(FTPSettings.UserID, FTPSettings.Password);
    FtpWebResponse response = (FtpWebResponse)reqFTP.GetResponse();
    ftpStream = response.GetResponseStream();
    long cl = response.ContentLength;
    int bufferSize = 2048;

    This is a little hard to troubleshoot, but I determined that the code fails on this line:
    reqFTP.Credentials = new NetworkCredential(FTPSettings.UserID, FTPSettings.Password);
    Everything works fine one several VMs, but when I just tried this exact same script on a new VM, it does NOT work.  I don't know if there is some setting that I need to check, or some kind of configuration, or what.  Again, this works on several
    of my VMs, and it's been working fine for over a year.  Just today it failed on a new VM, and I have no idea why.
    Here is the error message that I get.
    Any idea what's wrong, anyone?
    Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.

    The user credentials you're using are not valid for the FTP server.  Verify the credentials and try again.

  • Username retrieval failed in 10g XE.  Help!! (Thanks!)

    Hi all -
    Any help would be sincerely appreciated! (although who would write "all help would be looked upon poorly" ???)
    Anyway, I installed 10g XE on Windows XP Pro
    Installation was successful, and I AM able to launch the GUI Administrator (i.e., the one that the "Getting Started" doc talks about).
    I'm able to query tables, create users, all that great stuff.
    However, when I go to Start -> Programs -> Oracle Database 10g Express Edition -> Run SQL Command Line,
    I am unsuccessful at being able to Connect.
    I launch the Run SQL Command Line, type in "connect username_i_created/password@xe" and I get the error "ORA-12631: Username retrieval failed"
    This username DOES exist and I can see and query when I go through the GUI.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks Again!!
    R-

    Thank you all, for your suggestions! Unfortunately, I'm still having problems.
    Ultimately, I have another software application that is meant to connect to my Oracle database. That's failing with the same ORA-12631 error as I mentioned.
    I'm still unable to log in, even directly, via SQL*Plus.
    Through my Command window:

  • JavaScript doScript commands fail to initiate VBScript

    I have a JavaScript that runs a VBScript to do some SendKeys statements (to load a Keyboard Set).  This script worked fine in CS4...but fails in CS5.5.
    The ExtendScript debugger reports:  "Unable to load Adobe InDesign CS5.5 Type Library (Version 1.0)."
    That lead me to this KnowledgeBase article (kb408389):  http://helpx.adobe.com/legacy/kb/javascript-doscript-commands-fail-initiate.html.
    I tried the fix mentioned in the KDB article (as written and with changes to reflect the different CS version as well as the actual path to the .tlb file on my system) and this has not helped.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks much!

  • Mac "expect" function cannot work properly with ftp "!" command

    Lastly I have written a Expect-TCL script on Linux to automatically download log files from my company network device I have ever made used of ftp command “!” to go back to linux local to create directory with appropriate name for storing downloaded files.
    However, I found that when I use the same Expect-TCL script on my Mac, I found that the Expect script will stuck at ftp “!” command without proceeding onward. Here below is the command output with my sample experiment.
    BMBP:_Practise boyce$ expect sample-ftp.exp
    spawn ftp 127.0.0.1 21
    Connected to 127.0.0.1.

    ftp> verbose
    Verbose mode off.
    ftp> !
    bash-3.2$
    quit
    exit
    ^CBMBP:_Practise boyce$
    Here below is my sample script to test ftp “!” command:
    BMBP:_Practise boyce$ cat sample-ftp.exp
    #! /usr/bin/expect
    Default Settings
    set site "127.0.0.1"
    set port "21"
    set dirListFile "dir_list.txt"
    set sdUserName "boyce"
    set sdUserPwd "boyce"
    Launch a FTP session to SD
    set timeout 60
    log_user 0
    spawn ftp $site $port
    expect "Name" {send "$sdUserName\r"}
    expect "Password:" {send "$sdUserPwd\r"}
    expect "ftp>" {send "binary\r"}
    expect "ftp>" {send "verbose\r"}
    expect "ftp>" {send "!\r"}
    expect "(.*)" {send "ls\r"}
    exit
    Have you ever tried “!” command from expect script? Should it be classified as a bug on Mac Expect and do you know is there any patch available to fix such problem?

  • "error: command failed to execute correctly" on several packages

    Last night, when I updated before shutting down, I got a few errors, as in the subject. As it was very late, I thought I'd pick it up today.
    Unfortunately, the pacman log only lists one of the ones that failed as libgpg-error. The other one that I remember erroring was gawk. There were a few others, maybe four or five, but I couln't reliably recall them all, so won't guess.
    Here's a new attempt to reinstall gawk with --debug. I did the same with libgpg-error and the error occurred at the same place, with very similar output, so I think the issue is the same for all failures.

    pacman thinks the upgrade/reinstall was successful in that the latest version is installed.
    I did a search on the forums and the only other issue that I thought was connected might be microcode not up to date, but I had followed the update instructions some time back and as far as I can tell, the microcode  is up to date.
    I have two main questions:
    1) How do I work out what's causing the error, from above?
    2) Is there a way I can work out which packages gave the error, so I can make sure they're installed properly?
    Thanks.

    The following packages also had problems

    PS:
    I need the LDAP server for playing with a JAAS LDAP login module and something minimal would be enough. Is there something easier to install than OpenLDAP?

    I fail to understand why you're taking all this trouble. Both the Berkeley DB as OpenLDAP are both shipped with Solaris 10/x86 natively. Look into the so called companion cd / dvd. That makes setting all of this up a piece of cake.
    Another option could be looking into Blastwave or Sun Freeware.

  • FTP Usernames and Password issues in DW 8 for Macintosh

    Hi,
    I have an issues in DW8 on Mac OS 10.4.9. Every so often, my
    FTP usernames and passwords in the Dreamweaver site definitions
    will swap. That means that the username from one site will now be
    in the site def for another site. Nothing else ever swaps, e.g.,
    the local paths, passwords, and other settings are fine. It is just
    the usernames that seem to move from site to site at random. If I
    have a test server set up for a site, it also happens there. I've
    looked everywhere and can't find anybody else who has had this
    problem. I know there is a similar issue on Windows with IE7, but
    haven't seen anything on the Mac. This happens on both my G5 tower
    and iBook. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, I would
    appreciate it. It's not too big of an inconvenience, but it is
    annoying. Thanks in advance!
    Brian

    Although it may not be the solution, have you installed the
    8.0.2 updater?

    I don't have a specific answer sorry, however I do recall seeing a number of OSS notes around BPM archiving whilst searching for a different issue last year - have you checked on there for anything relevant to your currnet version and SP level?  There were quite a few notes if memory serves me well!

  • Errors in CCDB Stores - Extractor CONFIGURATION (OS COMMAND) failed

    Hi Everyone,
    We have Solution Manager 7.1 system on our customer landscape. Technical Monitoring scenario is configured on it. As I check the alert inbox on a regular basis, I find the below error quite frequently:
    Errors in CCDB Stores - Extractor CONFIGURATION (OS COMMAND) failed with below error log:
    "Exception while retrieving E2EStore - Failed to open HW file."
    Can anyone let me know why is this error getting generated and how this can be resolved permanently.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Nidhi

    Hi Nidhi,
    Can you try restarting the  SAPHOSTAGENT  saphostexec -restart
    Check its status saphostexec -status
    Check its version saphostexec -version
    You should have the latest version applied if possible.
    The main fix is in saphostagent package, however also disp+work
    processes use the access to saposcol and should be
    updated as well via the kernel update.
    Kind regards,

  • Processing data for a remote command failed with the following error message: Error occurred during the Kerberos reponse.

    Hi!
    We have 5 Exchange 2013 servers and when I’m trying to run a script that includes the cmd-let Get-MessageTrackinglog with StartDate = the first of the month and with EndDate = the end of the month I get the following error message after

    Hi Henado
    Check the time on your Exchange server(s) relative to the DCs and ensure they are in correct sync
    Use another account which is assigned the Organization Management permission and log to to the server run the command in shell and see the results
    Run
    Add-PSSnapin -Name Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.E2010
    Set-Adserversettings -ViewEntireForest $True and then run message tracking command and see the results
    If none of the above helps you may need to remove and re-install the WinRM and see the results
    Good Luck :)

  • Ldif2db command fails to import data and deletes the root node

    ldif2db command fails to import data into LDAP.
    The command used was
    ldif2db -n userRoot -s "dc=example,dc=com" -i test.ldif
    The test.ldif conains the nodes under dc=example,dc-com
    eg: ou=test,dc=example,dc=com
    But on executing the command the root node "dc=example,dc=com" itself got deleted. The console output was like "Skipping entry uid=test001,ou=test,dc=example,dc=com" for all the entries present in ldif.
    What might be the reason for this ? Any clues ?
    The reason y i am trying to do this ldif2db is to preserve the createtimestamp and modifytimestamp while migrating data from one Directory Server to another. Any other ways of doing it ?

    ldif2db is the right command to migrate data and preserve those attributes like createtimestamp and modifytimestamp.
    However, when this command is used, it will first remove everthing before it load whatever you want. So you need to be very careful. I got this terrible problem as well.
    In my experience, if you use this command, don't use "-s". You can just use:
    ldif2db -n suffixName -i test.ldif
    If you only have one suffix (database), then you can use "-n userRoot".
    Also, if you migrate your data from server A to server B, you'd better dump the data using db2ldif -n userRoot -a test.ldif from server A. Then load it into server B using ldif2db -n userRoot -i test.ldif.

  • FTP STOR command with REST capability

    Hi folk,
    I have a cRIO on a remote field, and I need that the program running on that platform periodically uploaded, through the internet, the data files to an FTP server.
    I have used the FTP VIs included in the Internet Toolkit to develop this functionality and I am experiencing some problems.
    During the uploading of files of medium or large size, via FTP, can happen that the FTP server closes the connection.
    The reasons can be different, network operation exceeded the user-specified or system time limit, bandwidth usage is restricted or the bandwidth is limited, etc..
    To overcome this issue the correct strategy is to reopen the FTP connection and to restart the upload from the point where it was interrupted.
    It is very important to finish to upload only the remaining part of the file, and not to restart from the beginning, otherwise you could not end the upload if the FTP server closes the connection again and again.
    For implementing the resume, the FTP protocol supports a number of commands:
    SIZE <remote file-name>  Returns the size of a file (Binary mode) .
    REST <file-size>         Sets the following STOR command to restart transfer
                             from the specified point.
    STOR <remote file-name>  If anticipated from a REST command, store (upload)
                             only the part of the file starting from the
                             specified point.
    At the present, it seams to me that the LabVIEW Internet Toolkit does not support the capability of FTP resume.
    Furthermore, if during a FTP upload the connection is closed by the FTP server, the FTP [STOR].vi exits sometime with ambiguous errors.
    Exit with a correct error:
    Error 56 occurred at TCP Read in NI_InternetTK_Common_VIs.lvlib:TCP Read xTP Reply.vi:2->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP Get Command Reply.vi:1->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP Data Send.vi->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP [STOR].vi
    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  The network operation exceeded the user-specified or system time limit.
    Exit with an ambiguous error:
    Error 54 occurred at TCP Open Connection in NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP Open Data Connection.vi->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP Data Send.vi->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP [STOR].vi
    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  The network address is ill-formed. Make sure the address is in a valid format. For TCP/IP, the address can be either a machine name or an IP address in the form xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. If this error occurs when specifying a machine name, make sure the machine name is valid. Try to ping the machine name. Check that you have a DNS server properly configured.
    Do you have idea or suggestion of how  realize an FTP STOR command with REST capability?
    Thanks,
    Asper

    Unfortunately the best advice I could give you would be to make a copy of the FTP toolkit and add this functionality yourself. You should have most of the building blocks available to you so it should be fairly starightforward. You could reference the RFC (RFC 959 and RFC 3659 for extensions) for any specifics you need on the packet format. You will need to save some state information so you can resume your download from the correct point.
    Would it be possible to use TFTP? This is much leaner and more likely to succeed if the other ends supports it. I recently wrote a very basic TFTP Write. I'm sure I could do the TFTP Read in short order. I'm still working on packaging it up in a distributable form but I could provide you with a basic VI if needed.
