IP getting bad scoring on SenderBase

Hello,
I'm having an issue where a particular owner of a domain(IP 202.123.27.157) is getting a bad reputation from senderbase. The IP is not in any blacklists and the owner does use authentication for sending out mails.
Given that i implemented a few IronPorts at some clients, the guy contacted me to ask if there's a way to remove this bad reputation from Senderbase.
On Monday, they did disable a feature on their mail server where the server was sending out a reply to sender asking for authentication before the server accepts the mail. But they did disable that feature thinking that it might be the cause of the issue.
They have been using this IP and server since 4 years and why have this issue now?
Can someone pls help on how to contact Senderbase to get this IP reputation clearing?
thanks,
Vinesh

Sorry to hear that the owner of the IP range is having difficulty with respect to their mail getting delivered to other IronPort appliances that are implementing SenderBase Reputation Scoring.
However, allowing IP ranges/addresses to be modified or tampered manually or from a request would compromise the integrity of the system.
There is usually an event in the customer's network/environment that causes the reputation of the IP address to drop drastically and deviate into the negative range. Some common causes are computers in the network that get infected with a virus, become compromised and start expending a lot of unsolicited e-mail traffic(spam) that is generated from within the network and going out to the Internet. Thus, the cause of the company's IP address to become blacklisted and acquire a low SBRS score. Other causes are incorrect network settings on mail servers that allow them to become open relays.
The best way to increase the SBRS(senderbase reputation scoring) is to re-examine the firewall and mail servers at the outer perimeter of the network. They should be locked down so that only a few mailservers are allowed to relay through your IronPort appliances. When adding machines to the Relaylist, use specific IP addresses instead of open ranges or entire octets. If you feel that you've combed your network and don't see where the problem is, you may want to contact IronPort customer support will the IP address that has the low score and Support can assist in shedding some light into why that IP address/range garnered a low SBRS score.
Good luck!
Kevin

  • Getting Bad Applet class name exception while opening applet.

    Hi,
While opening an applet in my mac os x v10.6.8 machine i am getting "Bad Applet class name exception" which is working fine in mac os x v10.7.5.Java version in my mac is 1.6.0_43.Can anyone please help me to resolve this.

Apple barred Java from running on Macs in order to safeguard users by blocking Java 7 Update 11 and adding it to the banned list in XProtect.
This was the second time in two weeks that Apple had blocked Oracle's code from running on Macs. The threat was so serious that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security had recommended that all Java 7 users disable or uninstall the software until a patch was issued. This time Java is blocked through Apple's XProtect anti-malware feature.
Java has come under fire as the means by which hackers have been able to gain control of computers. In April 2012 more than 600,000 Macs were reported to have been infected with a Flashback Trojan horse that was being installed on people's computers with the help of Java exploits. Then in August Macs were again at risk due to a flaw in Java, this time around, there was good news for Mac users: Thanks to changes Apple has made, most of us were safe from the threat.
Unwilling to leave its customers open to potential threats Apple decided it's safer to block Java entirely.
In order to block older versions of Flash, Apple has updated its "Xprotect.plist" file so that any versions that come before the current one (version 11.6.602.171) cannot be used on a Mac. Users who have older versions of Flash installed will be greeted with an alert that says "Blocked plug-in," and Safari will prompt the user to update to a newer version.
Macs running OS X Snow Leopard and beyond are affected.
UPDATE for those running Lion or Mountain Lion:
Oracle on Friday February 1 released a new version reportedly addressing vulnerabilities seen with the last build.
Apple disabled Java 7 through the OS X XProtect anti-malware system, requiring users to have at least version "1.7.0_10-b19" installed on their Macs. The release dated February 1 carries the designation "1.7.0_13-b20," meeting Apple's requirements.
Oracle "strongly recommends" applying the CPU fixes as soon as possible, saying that the latest Critical Patch Update contains 50 new security fixes across all Jave SE products.
    Update for Snow Leopard users:
Apple issued update 12 for Java for OS 10.6:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1573
Note:  On systems that have not already installed Java for Mac OS X 10.6 update 9 or later, this update will configure web browsers to not automatically run Java applets. Java applets may be re-enabled by clicking the region labeled "Inactive plug-in" on a web page. If no applets have been run for an extended period of time, the Java web plug-in will deactivate.
If, after installing Java for OS X 2013-002 and the latest version of Java 7 from Oracle, you want to disable Java 7 and re-enable the Apple-provided Java SE 6 web plug-in and Web Start functionality, follow these steps:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5559?viewlocale=en_US
    Further update:
Apple issued this Java related security update No. 13 on February 19:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5666
and Update No. 14 on March 4:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1573
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5677
    You should also read this:
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT5672
The standard recommendation is for users to turn off Java except when they have to use it on known and trusted websites (like their bank). Javascript, which is unrelated despite the name, can be left on.

Am I the only one getting bad quality youtube videos when running on LTE? When I'm on wifi they seem fine but I switch to lte it looks bad on the youtube app and on safari.

I've never had any problems with mine ever. The only freeze I've had was from a file I recorded on tivo, cut commericals out in movie maker and then re-encoded to the lowest possible bit rate that that zens nati've resolution supports. Try turning your sensitivity in the touch pad down. Sometimes if you have it up to high you may have a chance of doing that (although I have only had slow response, instead of a freeze by doing that).
You also have to compare to all of the other products out there: Ipod and Zune are a lot worse with pathetic little problems (annoyances). I didn't pay for tech support?

the request URL i am using for this is like;  "http://<Server>:6405/biprws/raylight/v1/documents/1111"

Please let me know if i am missing any thing in first case, getting the details of a specific document, while sending a request to RESTful SDK.
    Thanks,

I think you are using “Content-Type” header or an “Accept” header.
You should be using “Accept: application/xml” for that request

  • When publishing characters get bad quality

    Hi!
I'm trying to use Captivate 6 characters, but, when I watch the slides in the editing version, it's OK, when I try to preview or publish them, they get a very bad quality.
    Can you help me, please
    Thanks, Mariana

Those characters are high quality images, with transparency. I suppose you are still on 6.0.1 and didn't change the default slide quality, which is set to low. That is the reason, finally the team listened to my begging and in 6.1. the default quality is set to Optimized. Try to change that quality, and if that doesn't solve the issue, uncheck all compression settings when publishing as well.

  • Flash gets bad reputation from lazy programmers

    Hi all
I would just like to say Flash gets a bad reputation from
lazy programmers. I talk about flash with friends and they say
'Flash is to costly to bandwidth' or 'Flash files are to big for
the net' or 'I hate preloaders they take too long'.
I've learned that Vector graphics are the most efficient way
to display images on the net. People are loading unnecessary PNG,
JPEG or bitmaps in flash movies. Often they do not even optimize
the images. Even further they do not allow their Flash movies to
print the images to a printer. So why do lazy programmers do this?
I have created a site using Flash elements to illustrate the
content, and this is the most efficient method there is on the net.
Flash Vector graphics are faster, cheaper and better than the other
formats. If I have to hear another person complain about Flash
    again!
    Vector Graphics
    driven site
    regards
    John
    www.javono.com

I have to agree that Flash drawn graphics can provide a
substantial efficiency and clarity. I will use them whenever the
opportunity presents itself. But I don't think lazy programmers are
responsible for any sort of bad reputation that Flash might have...
I haven't heard that it has one.
At one end, programmers are just that, programmers, not
graphic artists, and they have to rely on others to create graphic
elements for them. And while Flash can be used to create some nice
drawings it does not have all of the features and capabilities that
software created for drawing has to offer, so graphics people are
more prone to use such software, it's what they are trained in,
which is why Flash often ends up with jpeg and png files. And alot
of web-based content utilizes complex imagery such as photographs,
3D renderings, and video... which Flash vector drawing cannot be
    used to recreate.
And on the other end are those that use Flash almost solely
for animations and have little to no programming skills nor need
    for any.
One of the nice things Flash does, which some of your friends
apparently take exception to, is provide preloading capability. Not
all of the preloading you see is always what lives in a flash file,
a good portion of that preloading could be image content and other
media that is dynamically brought into play later on. A very small
Flash file can end up presenting a very large amount of content
this way. Sure, in this microwave oven world we live in, nobody
likes a long wait, but I think it's better to wait the one time up
front than to have to wait every time some new piece needs to be
flown in from a server like your average web page often makes you
    do.
You're not likely to find an anti-Flash attitude popping up
much in these forums... the folks that come here a usually those
who have fallen under its spell and seek to enhance their abilities
    to use it.

  • Seriously thinking about paying the ETF to get out of contract. Will I get bad ESN?

Due to many reasons, I am incredibly unhappy with Verizon (been a customer for many, many years and am finally fed up) and am seriously thinking about paying the ETF to terminate my contract and move to another carrier with a new phone, like the Nexus 5 from Google. However, I would like to sell my Galaxy S3 to help pay the costs. If I pay my last bill and the ETF, will I get a bad ESN on my phone and be unable to sell it? Or, as long as everything is paid in full, including the ETF, will my ESN stay clean?
    Thanks!

Your phone will be fine as long as you pay all fees/bills.
