IP Profile - 0.18 mbps dl speed.

I have been having issues with broadband recently after moving the HomeHub several times and reseting etc. I have been getting in the range of 0.18 mpbs to about 0.56 mpbs.
After reading on this forum about others experiencing this problem I believe it has something to do with IP Profile being reduced as the hub thinks there is a line fault.
Is this correct and will it most likely resolve it self after a few days of a stable connection? I just wanted to clarify this.
Thanks.

  • MBP slow speeds to Netgear DG834GT

    Hey,
I'm having a small issue regarding the transfer speeds of files across a network I have set up. As it stands copying stuff from my brothers laptop to my MBP seems to be capped at around 160k/sec (courtesy of the activity monitor), wheras another wireless laptop will transfer at about 5mb/sec.
All I've done to connect to the network is turned airport on and then chucked in the password for the network et voila!
I noticed in "Internet Connect" that I can set up 802.1x but thought it best to leave it alone as I;m already connected to the internet fine!
My signal strength seems to be healthy. Anyone got any ideas?
    Cheers!

After some sniffing about it seems Im not the only one with this problem!
    Found this extremely informative thread:

But Unfortunately my issues dont lie as closely with my Internet but my general transfer speeds between other machines and my MBP!

  • Under 1 Mbps BB speed.. any ideas?

So I have been an EE broadband customer for nearly a year now, and generally speaking the speed has always been fairly decent (around 11 Mbps), occasionally at peak times it can be a bit poor (down to 4 or 5 Mbps).  But as of some time last week, the speed has dropped to below 1 Mbps, thus rendering the almost all internet access fairly useless. Oh and for reference, the master socket that my router was connected to is a SSFP infinity, and yes there are wires attached.. yet next to it we have a SSFP one (no removable faceplate), into which the phone is plugged.. seems odd to me..

  • Infinity 2 IP Profile 15.65 Mbps & Disconnects

I got Infinity 2 installed in February and have never got anywhere near the stated speeds. See BTW performance Check below.
It would appear the line is capped at 15.65 Mbps, also rather concerned that the maximum acceptable speed is 40Mbps.
Another issue also present since set up is that the Internet Connection drops anytime the phone is in use. I contacted support who escalated the issue and I was promised a call back within 48 hours which I did not receive.
    I have the HH5

  • MBP Fan Speed/Temp and one extra problem.

My 17" MBP fan is almost constantly running at the max speed (6000 rpm). The temp is at 75 C as well. Since i'm in school the loud fan speed it very annoying and I would like to know if I have a problem with either my temp sensors, logic board or fans.
My other problem is that I get two error messages saying that a usb port is drawing too much power and will be deactivated. I have 3 usb ports my two left ones do not work and only my right one functions.
    Any help would be great.
    ~ Justin

One thing to do is to run the extended version of the Apple Hardware Test and see if anything shows up in the form of an error code. If you get an error code with "SNS" in it, that would indicate that a thermal sensor is either not working or possibly not plugged in. If a sensor is not working, the fans will run all out by default.
Another thing to check is Activity Monitor for an out of control process which is hogging the CPU. Open Activity Monitor and select "All Processes" at the top and "CPU" on the bottom bar. Then peruse the CPU column for any process hat is running amok. If you find one, then highlight it and quit it and see if that takes care of the problem. Sometimes a printer process will hang up and hog the CPU, but it could actually be almost anything.
Regarding the USB ports, you can try to reset them. Power down and remove both the power adaptor and the battery for 15-20 minutes. Then power up again and see if they work. If your USB devices are drawing too much power from your USB ports, you may want to try a powered USB hub.
    Good luck!

  • Penryn MBP bus speed?

Does anyone know if the 17 inch MBP/s FSB has been bumped up to 1066 yet if you get a 2.6?
The 15 inch on the spec page said 800 fsb but I could not find it on the 17 inch MBP.

My wife stole my MBP within two weeks of its purchase and now her original lappy(a pc hp that she said was too heavy after she hammered me to buy it is losing its DC jack for the third time. Based on its current rate of demise I have between 3 weeks to two months of use. That will put me in the serious "need to buy" market between June and July. I have already been looking hard at refurbs to. Problem there is, after my education discount, the price advantage drops to only 300 bucks and apple care is 239 instead of 339 so those prices get too close to brand new. All she is demanding this time is a new iphone so that is a decent green light. I know the montevina will be released soon so that makes me real nervous as this is the same time of year I bought the core duo a month or two before the core2duo came out.

  • MBP Fans speed up during minor operations

    Hi everyone,
Something has happened to my MBP over the last few weeks. It always has been the case that whenever I have my MBP do a heavy operation (compressing HD video, for example) the fan kicks up to 6000rpm, as it should when all the computer's available resources are going to a heavy operation like that.
But now, I can just be browsing through a couple of different Firefox windows or have a few programs like Word or Excel open and the fan will kick up to 6000rpm again. And it won't quit unless I do something about it. I'll either have to close it up for a little while, or take it to the basement in my office where it's about as cool as a fridge. When I take it downstairs and set it on a cool surface, within about two minutes the fans have dropped back to 2000rpm.
Here are my readouts I get from when I have the MBP on my desk and it's up at 6000rpm versus after I've had it downstairs for a few minutes:
    Before:
    CPU: User 16% System 4% Nice: 0% Idle: 80%
    Memory: Wired: 215MB Active: 538MB Inactive: 1.01GB Free: 1.25GB
    Temps: HD Macintosh: 108F CPU A: 133F Enclosure Base: 99F GPU: 124F GPU Heatsink: 130F Heatsink A: 124F Heatsink B: 113F Mem Bank A1: 140F
    Right Fan: 6001rpm
    Left Fan: 5994rpm
    After:
    CPU: User 8% System 5% Nice: 0% Idle: 87%
    Memory: Wired: 215MB Active: 539MB Inactive: 1.02GB Free: 1.25GB
    Temps: HD Macintosh: 108F CPU A: 131F Enclosure Base: 97F GPU: 117F GPU Heatsink: 121F Heatsink A: 119F Heatsink B: 101F Mem Bank A1: 133F
    Right Fan: 1994rpm
    Left Fan: 2003rpm
And just now as I was writing this post, the numbers went back up to where they were before I brought down to the cool room. Any ideas?

That is always a problem--you need your Mac so you can't ship it off for repair because you can't do without it.
I think that Apple has some sort of a program where you pay an annual fee, and as one of the benefits, you can get a loaner if your Mac has to go off for repair. This may be something to consider.
Be sure and at least get a case number to document all the problems that are covered by your warranty, and be sure and send it off before the warranty expires. I still think the genius bar could run the AHT to see if you have a sensor problem or not. If you do, it is something that needs to be fixed at some point.
    Good luck!

  • Re: BT Infinity 2 IP Profile - Download Speed "Cap...

My BT Infinity 2 IP Profile has been consistently the same for nearly 2 years since I first signed-up for it and became available in my area, i.e. Upload Speed (US) = Up to 20 Mbps  / Download Speed (DS) = Up to 77.47 Mbps.  I was regularly getting US = 14-17 Mbps / DS = 73-75 Mbps.  Upon doing regular speed checks on my line using the BT Wholesale site, about 4 weeks ago, I noticed my IP Profile DS was reduced to/capped at (Up to) 65.74 Mbps.  Since, I have been receiving the same US as before but DS = 62-64 Mbps.
FYI, I have attached two screenshots but I am reluctant to give my phone number openly on here so can you provide a means for me to send it privately please.
I initially contacted BT Broadband Faults a few times, they did the usual bull**bleep** basic checks to make sure it wasn't my equipment and to give it 10 days to see if it was DLM.  I even hooked up a BT HH5 router to ensure any further line testing was done by the BT book.  After several days, it was evident it wasn't DLM despite BT Broadband Faults insistence to give it several more days until around 11.04.15, to which I did.  By this time, it was crystal clear it was not DLM and Broadband Faults were obtuse upon my persistence that I wanted the specific reason as to why my DS had been reduced/capped by 11 Mbps, and tried to palm me off with excuses such as "copper wire degredation". They refused to contact OpenReach or report it to them.
Note, I had a phone line fault in early Feb 2015 which the OpenReach Telephone Engineer changed lines to fix the fault at my local cabinet.  I was their when he did this and showed me that there weren't many Infinity customers locally.  My line speeds remained the same after and all stable.  I can rule out cross-talk.
I have made 3 complaints via the BT portal regarding this issue and all resulting call-backs have originated from India. Not one can categorically tell me the specific reason why I have, in essence, had my DS capped.  Just the usual bull**bleep** guesses by people not technically qualified to make such diagnoses.  All have been obtuse and said that my current DS remains within the terms of my contract, blah, and refuse to give me a reduction in price of my BT bill.  I accept this is correct, but they will NOT tell me the exact reason why my DS has been reduced/capped!!!!
I do not think it is unreasonable to demand to know the specific reason why the product I pay for has been reduced without an honest explanation why.
Please can you look into my case and any feedback would be much appreciated as this frustrating me a lot.

Sounds like you are being affected by the G.INP rollout to Huawei cabs but the modem being incompatible with it.

  • BT Infinity - IP Profile, what speed?

So, On Monday we got Infinity on the site they said the highest amount of speeds are as followed.
    Download: 26.3 Maximum
    Upload: 5.3 Maximum
I've excedded both of these sevral times and I'm really wondering how close I can get to my IP Profile!
Download speedachieved during the test was - 24.22 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 12 Mbps-34.42 Mbps .
     Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 34.42 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 5.1Mbps
     Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
I've had a few 26.7/8, when the Engineer came round they tested and recieved around 31mbps wheather that was the connection speed or not Idk.
Had an upload of around 5.6 upto 6, can i actually get any closer to my IP profile?

  • MBP USB 3.0 not working after profile migration

I just bought the new MBP with USB 3.0 and once the installation is fresh my USB 3.0 Lacie Minimus HDD connects at a speed of up to 5Gb/s (as in System Report) and disk speed shows transfer at around 73MB/s. However, once I migrate my data from iMac (mid 2011) the new MBP changes the link speed to up to 480 Mb/s and the disk speed drops to 23MB/s.
    Any ideas?

    azdebel wrote:
...the drive was working as expected (USB 3.0 link) once I was using it on plain (new) instalation. Only after I updated the data on MBP (using migration assistant, in order to copy my profile from my iMac) the speed dropped...
The reason I ask is that some MBP users are finding they can only get a USB 2.0 connection, others can't connect at all, and still others have no problem. Indeed, ZDNet just posted a story on the issue: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/apple/problems-reported-mounting-usb-30-external-drive s-on-new-macbooks/13188
But it sounds like something that wasn't present on your out-of-the-box MBP was imported during migration, and the before-after change might shed some light on where to look for the problem.

  • Drop in profile speed.

    Hi There!
I'm on the 40/10 BT product and most of the time my profile is around 38Mbps down and 10Mbps up. Over the past week I have checked my profile using the BT speed tested and have found that it has dropped down to 31Mbps and stays there. I have powered off the HH3 and the Fibre modem for around 10 mins and when I check a while later the profile is stuck at 31Mbps.
A while ago I ran the BT speed estimation and it said that with the 80/20 product I should have an expected speed of around 72Mbps down and 20Mbps up. Now when I run the BT speed estimation is says that my line should have a maximum speed of 35Mbps !
What has caused this to drop ?
There has been no change to my system of phone line.

Email yesterday from BT to say that they've tested my line and found a line fault between my home and the cabinet.
BT OR engineer arrived at my house just after 9am today.
Did some testing on my line and the cabinet. Got my profile reset.
Did a speed test, but profile still at 31.36Mbps.
I'll wait to see if it changes.

  • Why does my CPU speed read "O" in System Profiler?

My System Profiler reads "O" for CPU speed, even though I have a 1.8GHz Giga Designs upgrade.
The computer runs fine, it just really bothers me...
Though I have heard of people having trouble running certain software when this problem occurs. By the way, I have reset the PRAM, and inserted a new battery as well, problem persists.

Thanks! I love this discussion group... 8-)
Err...what is MDD? Guess I don't really need to know, just need to upgrade my Mac. Please don't feel a need to explain if it's complicated.
Japaman, notice you are in Japan. So am I, Nagano-ken (now 8 years). Also noticed you registered here on my birthday, April 16th. Coincidence? I think not...
Just kidding. Anyway, always good to know another English-speaking Mac user in Japan. Please feel free to email me at [email protected]

  • Broadband Speed Is Averaging 0.75 Mbps Please Help

    Hello,
I am currently on a 8Mbps line and live about 700m away from my exchange. For the passed 2 months my BB speed has not been able to get any higher than 1.8Mbps. I have checked the line doing quiet line test and there is no noise at all, tried different microfilters and even the test socket.
I found that my HH3 was dropping connection so I purchased a Billion BiPAC 7300N. After having a solid connection time for 9 days the speed still didn't reach above 1.8Mpbs on the BTw speed test website. I have reset the router today so I know the up to 5-10 day wait will need to happen again.
I will post the stats just now for you guys and would be grateful if you could shed some expertise on it.
Also the BTw Speed Tester will not give me further diagnostics and all I get is the error message. Here is a current test.

  • Very Slow Broadband Speed for 2 months, and very U...

    Hi
I know exactly how you feel (Giza). I took out BT Total Broadband and had it installed on 02/12/2010. Day one I have 6.75 mbps, which was great as my previous provider only gave me 5 mbps max. So I was well please.
Then day two it dropped to 4.35 mbps, not much to worry about, just though as it was Friday the network would be busy. Then on day 3, I was getting 0.65 mbps, and I have battling with BT ever since.
I have had the usual c**p from BT in India about moving the router due to interference etc, but of course non of them worked. Finally they advised I needed an engineer to come out, so I booked it for next working day between8am and 1pm, he arrived at 12.45, so a good job I took the day off work.
All he did was re-wire by master socket, called a help desk and told them to reset my IP profile, and was going in 30 minutes. He just told me to keep and eye on my speed as it should get faster within 5 hours. 48 hours later still at 0.65 mbps. So once again called BT to be told they are still working on the problem and will contact me when it is fixed. Two week later, still no increase in speed.
So I called them and they apologise for not getting back to but they were very busy. Their solution was that I needed another engineer to visit. So again I book the next available slot, but this time for afternoon slot 13.00 to 18.00 hours, so I only need half a day off work (obviously BT don't realise people work).
He arrived at 13.45, and he seem very knowledgeable to the other guy, and he even advised he had worked for BT for over 28 years. He check the line coming into the house first then the same test at my socket, and advised there was not problems there and my line was above average quality and I was on a ADSL2 21C exchange (whatever that means), so he decided to go to the cabinet at the end of the my street, he was gone about 45 mins. He came back to advise it appeared I was cross-communicating with another circuit. He did another line test, but had to call the help desk to reset my line again as it was not giving his little box of tricks access to my full capacity.
Buy the time he was done it was 17.45, and had got me up to 10.9 mbps hand-shake with the exchange (I was so please I could have kissed him), and rang through to another help desk to reset my IP profile again to increase my speed, but as it finished at 18.00 he waited to see if it was done, but did say it can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 hours for the request to be processed.
So left the computer on, and did some chores. Now when he left my router had been connected for over an hour and a half and he advised there should be no reason for it reset. At 18.15 the router crashed, when it came back the hand-shake had gone down to 9.6 mbps, but my speed was still at 0.65 mbps.  Then at 6.30 the router crashed again, then again, and again. Finally came back on at about 19.00. The hand-shake had come back at only 4.55 mbps.
Then at 19.30 I got a call from BT to say they were calling to see if I was happy with the service and had the engineer fixed the problem. Funnily enough just as they called the router crashed again. So I advised them of the above, and was told to do a hard reset on the router (use a paper click to press the reset button). Waited till I was re-connected. I was then told to test my speed at speedtest.net. Which I did, and I was getting, wait for it 2.35 mbps. The woman on the end of the phone advised, there you go it is fixed.
To which I clearly advised was not the case, and I should be getting 8.5 mbps as per the engineers advised. She all she could say was she needed to speak to the technical team and call me back. Which I was surprised she did at 20.20. Next action is to have another engineer come out and check the fault.
So now I am on my 3rd engineers visit, booked for this Friday afternoon. I did call the help desk, and asked for my service to be cancelled as I was that mad and upset about the service, but was told that as it was not BT's fault over my speed (god know's who's fault it is) I would need to pay for the remaining 15 months of my 18 month contract, but if I got the engineer to note on my account on Friday that it was their fault, I could cancel free of charge.
So been at work all day today, and though I would check my speed. Hand-shake now at 1.15 mbps, and my speed is at 0.65 mbps once again.
While writing this, I did not notice my Hub has once again crashed, and is just sat on yellow for Broadband. Of course if you are reading this I got it re-connected.

    Good fun isn't it
