IP profile set very low (0.14Mbps)

Hi.
For the past few days our speed has been very low, I did a test at the btwholesale and got:
Download speed achieved during the test was - 0.13 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.25 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :3.84 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.14 Mbps.
My ADSL line statistics are:
VPI/VCI:
0/38
Type:
PPPoA
Modulation:
G.992.1 Annex A
Latency type:
Interleaved
Noise margin (Down/Up):
9.3 dB / 20.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up):
48.5 dB / 29.0 dB
Output power (Down/Up):
18.9 dBm / 11.9 dBm
FEC Events (Down/Up):
167 / 0
CRC Events (Down/Up):
0 / 0
I have tried using the test socket also.
This is pretty frustrating as the speeds are barely usable, any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Harry.

To add, this has happened about once a month for the past 6 months or so, with speeds dropping to around 0.14Mbps, usually returning within a week. However since it happens quite often, and since the speeds are so low it means that for about one week a month (or more) the broadband is practically unusable. It's starting to get annoying because we aren't really getting what we're paying for!
What can we do to stop it from being set so low, or otherwise how can we get it reset sooner when it happens?
Thanks.

  • IP Profile set very low

    Hi,
I had a problem with my phone line last weekend and when it finally got assigned to an engineer, he diagnosed a cable fault between the exchange and my house, and provisioned the service on a new pair of wires on Wednesday. While the phone is now working OK, the broadband speed is ridiculously slow.
I checked it with speedtester and this shows a DSL connection speed of 7.62Mbps, but my IP profile is set at 0.5Mbps; previously it was up around 5.5Mbps.
I've called BT on this and they tell me nothing can be done and I just have to sit here patiently and wait 3-days after which time it will be OK.
Do I really have to wait 3-days, and if not, can anyone let me know the process to get it increased please?
If I do have to wait 3-days is it automatic after this magical period or do I then need to contact BT again?
For information I've also posted the DSL connection settings from my Homehub as I'd noticed that seems to be asked for in relation to questions regarding speed etc.

Thanks for the answers... Although not really the answers I was hoping for
Why does it take 3-days for the (presumably) DSLAM to measure the line quality? And isn't this something that can be increased gradually over time rather than sitting at a ridiculously low level, then jumping up to whatever speed is appropriate for the line quality? With the IP profile sitting at only 0.5Mbps it makes the service practically unusable for basic browsing, and definitely so for my BT Vision service.

  • Why has my autocorrect volume become so loud, even with volume setting very low? Anyway to adjust?

Autocorrect volume is too loud; even with volume turned down,

    Hi,
One thing can help is the following.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.  Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.  Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.  Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and see if this has helped at all.

If a restore did not fix it, you have a hardware issue--possible bad wi-fi radio.

Hi Lèonie, I tried, but it still recording only 8 minutes (more or less).

What do you mean when you say "set the tempo to a very low value" ?
    Thank you again.

    Enrico,
in your previous post you said:
GarageBand (used with a Mic microphone) is stopping to record after only 7/8 minutes.
In which way I may record a complete concert or at least one hour of music ???
If you want to record at least one hour of music, you need to make the max. of 320 bars last for a long time - for example:
With a maximum of 320 bars, a song with160 bpm and a 4/4 measure will only last for 8 minutes; to make it last 32 minutes, reduce the tempo to 40 bpm.

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

  • When instant streaming Netflix on my Macbook Pro, the sound is very very low even when sound controls are set at highest level.

When instant streaming Netflix on my Macbook Pro, the sound is very very low even when sound controls are set at highest level.  I do not have this problem when listening to TV or watching movies streamed from DishNetwork.  I contacted Netflix and they had me install a newer version of their software Silverlight... this did nothing to resolve the issue.  They were not familiar with the issue.

Well if your on 10.6.2, you need to software update to 10.6.8
Perhaps you need to adjust the Silverlight (Microsoft DRM video plug-in) sound level itself too
Run a check here to see if your current on your Silverlight (works for all browsers)
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
Use another browser like Firefox and see if it continues.
Try another video file. They all have their own sound levels too.

keyboard and mouse are now auto-detected. Do you have xf86-input-evdev installed? If so, you do not need to explicitly set the drivers for keyboard and mouse in xorg.conf. You can try it out if you like.

  • Volume on iphone is very low, this is a common problem, Apple Needs to FIX!

I have a new iphone 3GS that I got at the end of July, 2009. Since then i've been having problems with the volume! I called support because i had this problem along with my screen turning blank and freezing up. Support said to take the case off and this might help. well it did help the screen issue (which is kind of dumb when you think about it because the case is supposed to protect the phone and instead it caused it to malfunction!!,wierd), but the volume issue never really changed. I am hearing impaired and I do wear hearing aids, BUT....I have ALWAYS been able to use cell phones that have good loud volume, as i need to remove my aids to use the phone. My LG phone had BEAUTIFUL volume, never had a problem!
So, then I started to do some research and saw this is a very common problem! everyone I know that has an iphone has this problem, and all these people are normal hearing people! So then i decided to just get some really good, superduper headphones, because the headphones that came with the phone were ok, but i had to hold them in my ears.
The other day i bought the new Bose in-ear headphones with superior sound quality and at $130 bucks, they better be and the are compatable with the iphone. But.....again, while actually talking to someone on the phone the sound, even with the headphones and all volumes max'd, was still very low!! and i know its not the headphones because listening to the ipod is fantastic! it must be the phone!!!
I even used the "accessibility" setting that is on the phone and selected the mono audio feature which pushes both L&R sounds through one channel, and still doesnt help!
I even called support back today and one guy said i had to "restore" my phone by plugging it into my computer (not really sure what he means) but we got disconnected and the other guy said that i should bring my phone into the apple store. Both tech guys denied that there are lots of calls or complaints about this....but as you all know from reading the many posts, that this is a very common problem!!!
I think Apple should do the right thing and recall these phones or at least fix them or SOMETHING!!!! this volume issue is internally, because when i make a call and an automated voice comes on, it works fine (majority of the time) but as soon as a live voice comes on the phone, the volume drops! there must be some type of automatic voice adjuster that is just not working properly. I mean i love my phone!!! But....i cant use it!!! And now, im going to have to return my Bose headphones and try to find something else.
    Can anyone really help me?????

I agree with you about the volume on the phone itself. (I have 3Gs). It needs to be louder. I also wear hearing aids. However I do think there may be something wrong with your phone because when I connect my earbuds (Klipsh) I get very good volume through them. In fact at full volume it's way too loud. I would push for a replacement phone.
FWIW, my daughter (who also wears hearing aids) has trouble hearing her iphone. It appears to have more to do with the speaker not being lined up with the hearing aid's input. Her audiologist pointed out that some current hearing aids support bluetooth, I think we will get those next time we replace her hearing aids.

  • Video files show very low resolution poster image

Using Indesign CC and the latest tools and content viewer I am creating Autoplay video animations for the cover of our weekly magazine.
With each issue I have published the same problem occurs where the poster image for the video file is very low resolution and makes our content look very amateur (for a brief moment) before playing the video file at full resolution.
I have tried creating animations using flash, photoshop and Edge Animate, exporting MP4, MOV and OAM files. The problem is present with all movie files and with the Edge animation files a white flash appears before the file plays.
Is there a solution for either of these issues? We are looking to continue to use animations for our covers and need them to look 100% crisp and clean.

Sorry to jump in but I'm having the same issue too!
I have an H.264 mp4 which I created in After Effects and inserted using the Media panel within DPS.
As you see below, it plays on page load and I have chosen the finished front cover to be the poster image when it ends from within the Folio Overlays panel. I have set the video to stop on the last page.
When the video stops you can see all the artifacting around the text which I would expect to be as crisp as the original PSD file I uploaded as the poster image.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong or is there anything that can improve the quality of the final still?

  • [linux 3.0] Problem with sound : very low.

Since I upgraded to linux 3.0, I noticed that sound is very very low. Even if gnome sound properties tells me it is set at 100%, I nearly cannot hear it at all.
I got this in dmesg | tail :

If I plug an headset in the front on my PC, I got sound with the right power. Weird. Any tips ?

same here. almost no sound at all (unless you have superman ears).
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)
    sounds like a alsa problem?
    Edit:
    This fixed it:
I closed kde's mixer then I opened alsamixer. I selected Master channel and pressed M on my keyboard to unmute.
then I did "/etc/rc.d/alsa stop" to save the sound volume status. and then "/etc/rc.d/alsa start" and I opened kmix again.
