IP telephony help
Hello,
I currently work on a feasibility study for the deployment of the IP telephony.
We want to distinguish between two specific cases:
1- IP telephony between site, therefore by using the Data line to convey the voice of a site with another, knowing that we use PABX Alcatel 4400 and 3640 routers.
2- IP telephony on the local area networks for a hundred station while keeping the traditional telephone system, therefore the hybrid model.
I want to know the method to be followed to make my study as well as the material necessary for the two cases or any useful information.
thanks for any help/guidance.
Hi Resfat,
Here is some information to help get you started;
Q. What Q.SIG interoperability testing will be performed?
A. Interoperability testing to Avaya Definity, Nortel Meridian, Alcatel 4400, Siemens HiPath (Hicom), Ericsson MD110, IPC IPMX trading turret key system, BT Syntegra trading turret system will be performed.
From this doc;

Point to point IP telephony help neede
hi all,
im new to VOIP,i have 2 offices 10 km diff, i would like to implement ip telephones for communication between these 2 offices.my equipments are 2801 routers 2 no's and WIC-1T 2 no's point to point 128kbps leased line.maximum 10 users will use ip phone's in this scenario. what all things are required extra other than IP phones.
how can i configure these 2 routers for this scenario.whats the encapsulation for this configuration.pls give me the sample configuration also.
any post will be appreciated with proper rating.
Kind regds
Binoy.128kbps leased line is not a lot of bandwidth if you do a lot of intersite calling. You can use g729 as the codec, which will give you upto 24kbps * 5 (5 calls).
Are you running Callmanager or Callmanager express ? Cheapest solution would be to run two independent callmanager express systems on each router. If running CME, you will need,
a. CME feature license (preferably get the 2800 CME bundle which comes with DSPs and feature licenses)
b. IP Phone licenses for CCME
c. A inline powered switch or power bricks, power injector or power patch panel
d. You will need to setup some form of CAC (preferably a gatekeeper) to ensure that your calls between offices doesnt go beyond 3 or 4.
e. If you do a lot of interoffice calling, you should resort to routing calls via PSTN, if you dont have the budget to increase the bandwidth between the two sites.
IF using Callmanager, you can put the server in one site and the other site may run SRST or CME. IN this case you will need,
a. Callmanager server and software
b. Phones licenses for Callmanager
c. SRST bundle (2800) for remote site
d. Voice gateway bundle (2800) for main site
e. inline powered switch.
For voicemail I think the best solution in this case will be to use CUE.

IP telephony problem in a big shop | Need your help
Hello everybody,
I have an issue to solve regarding an IP telephony problem. My company will send me to France to fix this problem. But most of my knowledge are in routing and switching, I have almost no knowledge in IP telephony ( Theory only). I think the problem is not really difficult but I still need your advices to know where to start and what to do.
Futher down is a summary of the e-mails I received from the shop in France from the employees who are working there. France Telecom is the ISP.
1 e-mail:The problem is the connection between the ISDN lines provided by France Telecom and the IPBX installed by our shop.
2 e-mail:The problem isn't the physical line itself. The problem is that they ( France telecom) do not route all the numbers out to the ISDN line they installed. The number ending with 1212 get routed to the ISDN NT and that number actually works. But the rest of the number series does not get terminated in that ISDN NT. Calling those other number result in an error message being read in French. That can only come from France Telecom.
3 e-mail:We cannot solve this problem because it is not the system which has an error. Carl has been in Bordeaux and has checked the ISND line at that is working, but the number series for Bordeaux is missing in the system from France Telecom, the only existing number is 1212. The rest of the numbers are missing for French Telecom and is therefore not working. Either we have been informed of a wrong number series +33 5 34 32 12 04 to 13 or France Telecom has not delivered what they should.
4 e-mail:I checked again with France Telecom and they confirmed that everything is delivered and ok from their side.
They gave us the number series +33 5 34 32 12 04 to 13 with main number (headnumber) is +33 5 34 32 12 12 (exactly as in Paris where we are n° series from +33 1 53 25 13 70 to +33 1 53 25 13 89 with the headnumber is +33 1 53 25 13 70).
That's the reason why you find only the +33 5 34 32 12 12 arriving into the IPBX, it's because you then have to program in our IPBX the other n° we want to use (+33 5 34 32 12 04/ 05/ 06/ 07/ â¦10/ 13/â¦) within the number series granted by France Telecom.
But this can be done only by us because we installed our own IPBX.
5 e-mail:Even though the other numbers aren't programmed into the IPBX, we should still get some sort of ISDN Layer 1 activity when calling one of the other numbers (fx. the 07number). That never happens, which means the numbers are somehow impeded from France Telecom.
When we call one of the number, we get an error message in French. If the traffic was hitting the IPBX, then that couldn't happen. That speak originates from France Telecom and we have never gotten any explanation as to why it's even there.
I will really apreciate your help. Where do you think the problem comes from? Is that really France Telecom whose empeded the series number(do not route the numbers)? What should I check/do, configure?
Thanks a lot for your help to all of you.

Pushing for IP telephony...Help needed
Hi...
I am trying to convince our management to deploy VoIP and reduce heir spending for Legacy PBX systems. I was able to get their approval to install Cisco ip telephony products in a limited area & limited budget, probably to test the solution.
I need help with design and product selection in order to make this a success.
The area (building/company) where I am planning to deploy IP telephony was recently acquired by our company. It is located 300m away from us so probably we will be connecting it to our LAN(either fiber or wireless). The building has a meium sized PBX (approx. 200 extensions). After the acquisiton there were plans to have a tie line between our PBX and the acquired one, but those plans were scratched since the latter broke down (and I got my chance). Since not many employees remain in the acquired building, the number of extensions required is around 30.
I got a suggestion from a Cisco Partner and would like to know your comments:
- VG248 Analogue Gateway
- 2821 with CCME (48 phones), 2 x 4port VIC FXO (universal), 2 x channel packet voice/fax dsp module, 1 x Ip communications high density digital Voice NM with 1 T1/E1
The idea is to use the existing telephones in order to keep cost minimum.
- I would like to know that if we have 6 direct lines (PSTN) that will terminate on the FXO, there would be no need for an E1 line hence no need for the 2821 E1 card, right?
- Will the caller ID function on the existing phones using this design?
- Any comments on the solution provided?
Regards,
TacoCCME does not support VG248. Check this link under Restrictions for Analog phones.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps4625/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00805b21ba.html#wp1059308
An alternate would be to use a VG224 (for 24 ports) and a EVM on the 2821.
The EVM base board supports 8 FXS and you can add a 6 port FXO module. That should meet your requirements.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps3115/products_data_sheet0900aecd8016c1c6.html
To answer your questions
1. Yes, you are right. Since your PSTN lines are all FXO's, you don't need the E1 card.
2. Caller ID is supported in VG224 as well as EVM

Help N95 Internet Telephony in Chinese after firmw...
Hi, I'm from Singapore! I just did a software upgrade on my N95 phone to ver. 12. Everything else is fine, but my Internet Telephony is in Chinese? I can't read chinese and thus I can do anything. Please Help! Is there a way to update back to a older version? say Ver. 11?
No, there is no way to roll back your firmware using the Nokia Update. The only way is to take it to a Nokia Service Centre.
It would appear the chinese lettering problem for the internet telephone service icon is affecting all firmware locations as a few european users have noticed this as well.

I want to Implement IP teplephony in my Lab and I have a L2 cisco 2960 POE switch, is it possible that I can create the 2 vlans for voice and data seperately and phones will start registering to the call maanger 9.X ? I will have my call manager on the data vlan and also it will have DHCP server runnign on it.
ThanksHi Syed.
Yes you need a router to let 2 vlans with 2 subnets to communicate.
You can also separate Voice Vlan and Data Vlan without route them, but it could be not so easy to manage and not so scalable.

Need help on java Telephony package
Hello Friends,
I am involved in a telephony software development...and I want to use JTAPI for it...but Iam encountering a very basic problem...Iam having jdk1.3 installed in my PC...but whenever I import the javax.telephony.* package,I get an error 'cannot resolve symbol'...please tell me what is the solution for it...also what changes I need to make in path setting so that I can implement it...ie...which jar file I need to include in the classpath...I would like to know if any good guiding tutorial is available for it on the net...
AshishHello freddyrb!
First, you need to download JTAPI from java.sun.com,
because it don't present neither in the standard jdk nor jre.
But, the JTAPI kit is only a bunch of INTERFACES so
you need some implementation, which Sun didn't (and imho shouldn't) provide.
And the problem is a lack of JTAPI implementations.
The only one i have heard of is a some fake system from alphaworks (http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/aw.nsf/FAQs/j323engine).
No of hardware providers did gladden us with a JTAPI port (at least as of fall of 2000, the last time i checked it). BTW, if someone knows of any JTAPI-enabled yet not too exotic hardware, let me know, please, serge(AT)zolshar.ru.
As for JTAPI over a modem, i heard of an implementation of JTAPI over TAPI but now the project is dead.

Video telephony using soft video phone help
Can anyone suggest a soft video phone application that will work with a release of CCM and if you have a configuration/design guide for such an implementation it would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks. The only thing I can think of is Microsoft's NetMeeting. YOu can configure that as a standard H.323 end point. VT Advantage doesn't work yet with IP Communicator but I have a feeling it will soon
Hope this helps.

</device>Hello,
I'm facing exactly the same problem, that is:
a Cisco SIP Phone 9971 won't register on CME 8.6 running on a 2811
I have read all the postings to this Forum, but I have not been able to solve it.
In my case the commands voice register dn and voice register pool are OK.
So frankly, I have no idea what I could be missing.
I'm pasting the Router's config.
I hope somebody is able to point me in the right direction.
Here is the config. Thank you!

C2811# -
I'm working through my CCIE Voice/Collaboration training materials and am just about finished with the physical construction of the lab. At this time I'm just going to install a new T1 card into my BR1 router and I'm trying to get my T1 to HQ (HQ router) and my E1 to BR2 (Branch2 router) up and running. I am enclosing the "show run", "show isdn status" and "show e1/t1 controller" outputs. I am using a 2801 for my HQ router, a 2851 for my PSTN/IP-WAN router, and a 2811 for my BR2 router.
I am using a T1 cable RJ-48C/RJ-48C. I'm embarassed to say it - but I don't have a cable tester at the time. I lended my backup out to a friend and my primary one is not working. I'm also not 100% sure that I'm using the correct cable. I have VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 cards in my routers and I have a 2851 (PSTN router) setup to give connectivity via the T1's to HQ and BR1 and E1 connectivity to BR2. I have taken the liberty of attaching my configs, as mentioned I don't think I have cable issues because this is the case with all my cables.
Main issue, in the "show isdn stat" the layer 1 status is "deactivated" and when I do a shut/no shut the status goes to "shutdown" and doesn't come back up despite my efforts to enable the interface. The only way to fix it is to reboot the router. I've got to be missing something - I just want to get my T1's and E1 up for my CCIE Lab. I'm building my lab based on the CCIE Voice specification and have the ability to get it modified eventually to fit the CCIE Collaboration lab.
***PLEASE go easy on me - I'm sure there is a fundamental configuration item or concept I'm not thinking about so I'm preparing to look like a fool - but that's okay....it's part of learning. :-) ***
Any help would be so much appreciated. All configs are pasted below.......

PSTN_IP-WAN_RTR#I have went ahead and re-enabled the voice-ports just because I left that out of my original output. See below.....
Do you think I ordered 3 factory made T1 cables from BlackBox and ALL of them came back to me bad? Or perhaps they might not have made them as cross over cables......hmm...any other suggestions?

Need Help build my ati custom kernel
Hello.
I have been trying to build a custom kernel based on kernel2612-cko2-swsusp2 but modified:
-2.6.10 version for better compatibility with Ati drivers
-without swsusp2
-without cdburning.patch
Here are PKGBUILD:
# Contributor: dibblethewrecker <dibblethewrecker.at.jiwe.org>

In this kernel I have made the modifications for ati-drivers in the kernel26 config as shown in the wiki. I used the PKGBUILD from the wiki for custom kernels.
I installed it and now I am posting from it.
I downloaded the ati-drivers-5 PKGBUILD to build my ati drivers. In the PKGBUILD I used
_kernel=2.6.12-ati
When I makepkg I get:
[root@myhost ati-drivers]# makepkg -f

Need help determining why my nothing is showing up after setting up site to site vpn
Ok, so I'm am trying to figure out why I can't get nothing to show up when I do sh crypto isakmp sa or sh crypto ipsec sa. I did the basic setup for a site to site vpn and I can ping across both networks just fine no problem. So when I ping from a pc in the 172.16.0.0 network to 192.168.0.0 network there is no problem at all because the pings are recieved just fine. But when I go to sh crypto isakmp sa, there is just nothing there and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I looked at my sh run for both routers and everything looks fine, but I guess I may be overlooking something. If someone could help me diagnose this problem I would truely appreciate. I have attached my packet tracer file and both routers are using the password binary. I put the password on there for the sake of it and to have a more real feel.
Here are the show runs for both routers

Hi Guys,
I have a SIP trunk setup with a 2811 running CME version 7. I can make outbound calls ok but having issues getting the incoming calls working, i have 1 number on my SIP trunk and that is 01133501788 and i want that to ring my Cisco 7960 which is running SIP firmware not SCCP. I have included by config for anyone who can help me, i just want the incoming call to work.
Many Thanks.
Matthew.

Router#You my friend are a star! worked straight away, many thanks. Just one more thing, when i make an outgoing call, it always appears as "blocked" on my phone, my sip trunk is set to allow CME to alter outgoing CLI's how would i program the outgoing CLI to 01133501788 also?
The new working config is below with your suggestion, which works!

Problem in Assigning Telephony number to ICWC Agent
Dear all,
We are into IC Webclient implementation for our client,
I need help for you to solve the following problem.
How can we assing telephone number to IC Webclient agent?
Does this telephony number come from Telephony Vedor or do we need to setup a new number?
I had come acrss transaction like 'CRMM_IC_SPHQ
and CRMM_IC_SPHQA.
What is the use of these transactions.
Please suggest me to resolve this issue, your suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thank you
Raghu ramComes from your telephone vendor. Should be the 4 or 5 digit extension depending how they set them up.

Really Need Some Help with CME 8.6 using IOS as Firewall and Anyconnect VPN on Phones
Hello,
I have a 2911 Router with IOS Security and Voice enabled and we are using CME 8.6. I am using a built-in Anyconnect VPN on 3 phones that are for remote users and thus I needed to enable security zones on the router which works because the remote phones will boot up, get their phone configs and I am able to call those remote phones from an outside line.
The issue I am having is that when I try to dial a remote phone connected via the VPN through port g0/0 from and internal office phone, i.e., NOT involving the PSTN then there is no audio. It's as if no audio is going back and forth. When I take off the security zones from the virtual-template interface and the g0/0 interface then the audio works great and I can reach the phone from internal as I am supposed to.
Could someone take a peek at my security config and see why audio would not be traveling through the VPN when I have my security zones turned on?
