IP/VC 3520 migrating to MCM

I have an IP/VC 3520 gateway that we use for simple teleconferencing. It has three ISDN BRI connections that can be bundled to give up to 384 Kbps. The 3520 handles gatekeeper functions as well as the conversion between H.320 on the WAN side and H.323 on the LAN side.
As the 3520 is reaching EoL, I am trying to propose an alternative. Now, I may be barking up the the wrong tree, but it looked on paper that a 2650XM with H.323 MCM software would do the trick, with an ISDN primary rate NM installed. But I cannot get my head around the configuration.
So far, these are the relevant lines I have:
<b>
voice service voip
 h323
interface FastEthernet0/0
 ip address 192.168.4.5 255.255.255.0
 h323-gateway voip bind srcaddr 192.168.4.5
interface Serial1/0:15
 isdn switch-type primary-net5
 h323-gateway voip interface
 h323-gateway voip id gk5.mydomain.net ipaddr 192.168.4.5 1719
gateway
 timer receive-rtp 1200
gatekeeper
 zone local gk5 mydomain.net
 no shut
</b>
At this point, I expected the gateway to register with the gatekeep, but it does not. A show gateway includes the messages:
H.323 service is up
This gateway is not registered to any gatekeeper.
Where do I start defining the services in the way I did in the 3520?
Or have I completely misunderstood the capabilities of this box? Sorry, I am a complete beginner when it comes to this stuff, and I seem to have go lost somewhere in the documentation. Help!

Kevin,
Thanks for your posting, which I have been studying today. Particularly disappointed that the router cannot handle H.320 bonding on the ISDN side. That really puts it out of the field as far as this application is concerned. I am going to have an uphill struggle getting a 3521 (or a 3526) approved as it is quite expensive, and it will be in competition with a gateway from the suppliers of the VC equipment.
In your second posting you refer to the Serial 1/0:15 as a POTS interface, but that is not quite what I had understood by POTS. I though POTS referred to the old analog 2-wire phone connection. In this case, S1/0:15 is the D-channel of a primary rate ISDN. But I guess what you are saying is that the gatekeeper can use the interface to route Q931 voice calls, but not any fancy VC handling like H.320.
Nevertheless, while I have the box to play with, I would like to get some educational benefit from it, so I am still trying to get its gateway to talk to its gatekeeper. I have moved all the h323 to the F0/0 as you suggested, and added a couple of tech-prefixes for good measure. But I still do ne see it registering. (BTW, yes the interface is up). Here is the (stripped) config I have:

But I still cannet get it to register:

H.323 service is up
Gateway GW5 is not registered to any gatekeeper

Can you see where I am going wrong? I have tried shutting and no-shutting the gateway.

  • Mixed environment migration (OCS\Lync 2010 to Lync 2013) retaining BES Integration

    Hi All,
I have an existing OCS 2007R2 and Lync 2010 environment which contains BES Collaboration for Enterprise IM on Blackberry devices. I want to migrate this environment to Lync 2013 whilst retaining the BES integration. Understanding that tri-existence is not supported
I've been going through the process of decommissioning all of my legacy OCS servers, which I have now completed, in readiness for starting the Lync 2013 deployment and prepping AD.
Here's my issue - The BES collaboration service was integrating with an old OCS CWA server. I removed the CWA server and migrated the Collaboration service to a new server so that I could configure it to directly communicate directly with the Lync 2010 pool,
however I still needed to install OCS components on the new server in order to achieve that integration. Now I've run the final step of Merging the OCS 2007R2 Topology with the Lync 2010 topology in preparation for deleting the BackCompatSite, the old OCS
servers have gone, but the new Collaboration server has now appeared as a trusted application server within the BackCompatSite. I've done an LDIFDE export of the RTC Service container and have had a look through the contents. I can see that the new BES Collaboration
server is there and that it has an msRTCSIP-TrustedServerVersion value of 4, whereas all the Lync 2010 values are 5, which I'm guessing is what the Lync Topology is using to establish that the BackCompatSite needs to be populated with that Trusted Server entry.
So my question is this - What do I need to do in order to successfully remove the BackCompatSite entry and migrate my environment to Lync 2013 whilst retaining integration with BES and keeping the Enterprise IM service service running on Blackberry devices?
Here's some options that I've thought about - Using ADSIEdit to remove the Trusted Server Application for the new BES Collaboration server so I can merge the Topology and delete the BackCompatSite, although will this break the Enterprise IM service? Temporarily
changing the value of the msRTCSIP-TrustedServerVersion for the Collaboration server from 4 to 5, merging the Topology, deleting the BackCompatSite and then changing the msRTCSIP-TrustedServerVersion back to 4 afterwards? Over a weekend\out of hours, removing
the BES Collaboration server and service altogether, going through the Topology merge\BackCompatSite deletion and then reinstalling the Collaboration service?
Has anyone else gone through this process, or got any advice\experience to pass on before I start working through my list of options?

I've asked this question several times:
Does the 2007 R2 CWA server count as tri-coexistence?
I've asked that both in MCM rotations and directly of people on the PG and the answer is always something along the lines of "nope, it's a trusted app server and not a pool".  When I've run into this issue in other deployments, we simply left the backcompatsite
    in the deployment into production.
I've never found the above as a publically approved statement just something I've asked previously and been told is OK to do.  This is one of those situations that will work but was most likely not tested.
    Thanks,
    Richard

  • Migrating SQL Server Published databases with minimal downtime

    All,
I have a requirement in which databases in Server A has to be mirated to Server B. Server A has two databases in Merge replication and one with Transactional replication. Server A act as the distributor itself.
My question is how can I migrate all these production databases which are also publishers to new sever B with minimal downtime, and with out breaking replication.
I read that if the Server B is renamed as Server A then replication will continue with out any errors. Please suggest how to migrate the publisher to Server B with minimal downtime.
Also I would like to know if the replication is Server A->Server C->Server D, then if I can migrate Server A to Server B with out dropping replication, will it affect the replication setup from Server C to Server D. Does it cause any replication errors.
    Thanks in advance!

Just to throw some thoughts out there.
It sounds like the "blocker" in the overall migration strategy is the Distribution database and the fact that it is local to a Publisher.
Once you have migrated the Distributor, the remainder of the problem
is more straightforward, using solutions such as Database Mirroring to failover to a new server with minimal downtime for example.
If I were performing this migration project, I would agree with the business that there was to be a
short replication service interruption whilst we migrated to a new Distribution database/server. I would also apply Hillary's recommendation to use the opportunity to split-out the Distribution database to a dedicated server.
Using this approach, you could build and configure the new Distribution database before the migration "cut over" phase. The cut-over would require that you Drop the replication topology and re-create it, using the new Distributor DB/Server. You can script
ALL the steps required for this ahead of time, resulting in the actual cut-over to the new Distributor being completed in a couple of minutes max (the database involved are already in Synch).
Once done, you can proceed ahead with the remainder of the migration.
Overall this is not a trivial project you have on your hands and in my opinion you absolutely must perform the process in a test environment before attempting to do so in Production.
    Good luck.

  • How can I Migrate/Split itunes/icloud account for a large family now that they have family sharing

Ok, now that Apple has finally come out with family sharing I need to get things sorted out and I think it is going to be a mess. I have 6 family members (my spouse and 4 children) all sharing/using one itunes account. For parental reasons this made perfect sense. Now with the the advent of family sharing and such we have alot of sorting and migrating to do and I am very unsure how to go about it. Here is what we have.
    Myself - I have a 64GB iPad 3 and a 64GB iPhone 5
    Spouse - 64GB iPhone 5
    Children - x4 16GB iPhone 5C (pink, blue, green, and a yellow)
We have had one itunes account now for several years, we used to have x4 16GB iphone 4's and a 16GB iPod touch 4 so we needed it to be shared at the time. We all have different Game Center ID's and Facetime/iMessages are all setup to the phone numbers (aside from mine which also uses the itunes e-mail). We currently have 1 upgraded icloud account with 200GB of storage on it (love the new tiers). So here are the questions.
    1) How do I go about using and isolating all the devices so they can all use the iCloud storage? Right now if I try and setup backups by device under the what to backup there is no simple "Full Backup" option, they have all the categories separated. I cannot backup my daughters contacts without forcing a merging of them and so on. Same thing with Documents and Data. Would I need to setup a different iCloud account for each device now?
    2) iTunes Music/App purchases. Now that they have a family sharing function I am assuming it would be a good time to separate all the devices (aside from my personal iPad/iPhone). If I understand correctly we need to setup a new itunes account for each and link them with family sharing, does this then allow us to disperse/move items from a singular to the multiple account (at least a one time option to move around) or would it simply be shared off the original account? My daughter for example will be 18 next summer and as such no longer under our care. How do we move her items to her account? She has a lot of purchased Music. Now keep in mind I am talking about an account for someone who was 12 when she had her first device and as such needed to be under her parents.
I just want to state that repurchasing things is NOT an option, and to be frank,  according to Canadian laws pertaining to *licensing* we actually own the product if we paid for it and have the right to transfer the ownership thereof. This issue went through the courts regarding used copies of OEM editions of Microsoft Windows several years ago and they closed the legal *license* vs ownership separation.

Go to appleid.apple.com to manage the ID, sign in and select to the Name, ID and Email Addresses section, then change the birth date on the bottom right.  At the present time you may not be able to enter the correct birth date, but others have had success changing the year to 2000, or the date to 1/1/2001, both of which will have child ID status.

  • Migrating open POs and GR/IR clearing account balance

    Hello gurus,
I've got the following problem concerning migration of open POs:
For example: In my source system there is a PO for 10 pcs. of some material. There has been a goods receipt for 5 pcs. (200$ each).
Now, when I import this order and the corresponding purchase order history into my target system (using LSMW), the target system creates the order, a material document for 5 pcs. and an account document.
But of course, our FI-team also has to migrate the balance of the 'old' GR/IR clearing account.
So, the balance in the source system is <> 0 (e.g. 1000$), because the 5 pcs. have been delivered but there has been no invoice receipt yet.
This balance is imported into the new system and then the open orders are migrated, generating an account document and thus, the balance is 2000$ afterwards.
This obviously is not correct, so I am sure that I am missing something, just what?
    Thanks
    Alicia

    Hi,
    1. There will be an open PO uploaded for 5 qty and price 200$ each
    2. Opening Balance of Material - 5 qty and corresponding value to Stock A/c - 1000$
    3. Also there will be Vendor Balances uploaded in the system as 1000$ against the invoice. (If the invoice is still expected then chec with FI Users if they can get invoice form vendor)
if no then do not upload initial stock entry of step2, create a PO of 10 qty and then do GR in system (SAP).

  • [Migrating from 6i to 11G] HTML viewer

    Hi,
There used to be a program to display the output of a report in 6i. When the report was displayed, it used page breaks (ESC characters) to allow the user to view the next page and print a range of pages from a report.
In 11G, these control characters are not interpreted by Internet Explorer:
    >
    height 85
    width 94
before report esc "&l%%0O" esc "&l8D" esc "(s12H"
    after report esc "E"
    after page control(L)
    [End Quote]
So how could I migrate the printer definition files in order to get after page control in 11G?
    Many thanks for your help.

As my old college profession used to say - "The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked!" Forms 11g only supports web deployment. This means you will need the OAS with the Forms and Reports Services installed as well. Typically, the setup is three tiered ( 1 server = Database, 1 server = Application Server, 1 server = Infrastructure server ). You don't have to set up the technology stack multitiered - all three could reside on the same server or you could have the all three on the same machine but is not recommended. I would at least have the database on a server seperate from OAS.
Here are a few links to get you started.

  • Duplicate user account OR migrate iPhoto/iWeb between users

I've seen this question asked several times before, but have not seen an answer!
So, with as many details as I can muster:
I have, on my computer, 4 user accounts: my admin account, my user account, my boyfriend's user account, and our business account... All separate, keeps things nice and tidy (sort of!).
I have a new and separate project that I'm starting to work on which involves lots of images, and new websites, and new and different stuff that's necessary for the project, but just clutter in any of the other accounts.
Because this project started out as something my man wanted to play around with, all of the beginnings of this are in his iPhoto and his iWeb, and they're well organized.  I've not had luck so far moving the iPhoto and iWeb libraries to a new/blank user and maintaining the organization that I've spent time and attention making right.
He's not so great with technology, and gets very frustrated (and unproductive!) when anything on the computer doesn't work exactly like he expects it to. (When Lion came out and the scrolling went "the wrong direction" he was afraid to use the computer at all for a week, because "everything changed, I don't even know how to use it anymore" that's between us though, personal issure ). So I'd like to keep the user experience the same for him.   I'd like to duplicate his settings, preferences, etc. into a new user for him, and take over his current account to isolate this project.
    So, in summary:
I want to create a new account with the same user experience  as a current  account without having to find and reset all of his settings.
    OR
I want an exact copy of the iPhoto and iWeb from this user account to another one, on the same machine.
    I am currently running OSX 10.7.2, iPhoto '11 9.2.1 and iWeb 3.0.4
Thanks in advance for any help!

That's easy, if you have Time Machine or "bootable clone" backups. (If you don't, you should anyway.  Post back if you need info on them.)
Use Migration Assistant to transfer just that user account from the backups; it will put up a screen saying it can't transfer it under the same name as the existing account, and allowing you to rename it.
Other than having a different name, the transferred account will be identical to the existing one.  Then you can modifiy them separately as necessary.
EDIT:  see Using Migration Assistant on Lion for detailed instructions.  Be sure to un-check the boxes for eveything except that one user account.

  • How do I find a photo file in the Finder + future migration question

Being a recent Mac convert, I am just getting used to the 'complete control' approach to photo management that iPhoto has. I'm used to knowing where my photos physically reside on my computer - this is useful for doing things like uploading photos to a website for example. How do I actually find a particular photo in the Finder (or even give photo files recognisable names, as opposed to whatever automated naming system iPhoto uses)?
A followup question to this is, what happens if I ever want to migrate my photos out of iPhoto one day to another application or even back to a PC (God forbid - just my paranoia about being forced to use a particular system forever kicking in here!) - is there a way to do this, and keep photo modifications etc? Or once I start using iPhoto, have I made my decision for life??
My apologies if this has been asked before, I couldn't find anything in the forum when searching.

    poddster
I hope you've a notebook and pen, but you've asked a lot of questions:
I'm used to knowing where my photos physically reside on my computer
You photos are stored in the iPhoto Library at your Pictures Folder. This is a Unix style Package Folder that very easy to see inside: right click on it and choose show package contents. A finder window opens with the library exposed.
Here's how the library is laid out:
In this folder there are various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
iPhoto always preserves the original file, all operations are carried out on a copy.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
And here's a warning: It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss.
this is useful for doing things like uploading photos to a website for example
No it's not. Don't surf the iPhoto Library. The idea with iPhoto is that you do everything via the iPhoto Window or media browsers:
So, to access pics use one (or more) of the following:
There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser. Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
iPhot doesn't name the files, those names are given by your camera. You can add titles in iPhoto and if you use the File -> Export command there's a facility there to name the resulting file (it'll be a copy - remember what I said about all operation being done on a copy...) with the title.
Do not rename files in iPhoto, That comes under the heading of making changes in the iPhoto Library Folder and alters the path to the files. If you do, iPhoto will lose track of the file. But the truth is there's simply no need to. However, you can rename the files before importing them if you like.
Migrating is really easy. You've seen the layout of the Library above. The originals are all there, in the originals folder, the Modified versions in their folder. If you want to have only the most recent versions of pics, then export them from iPhoto to a folder on the desktop.
By all means post back if you need more.
    Regards
    TD
