IP Video Transcoder?

Can Flash Media Live Encoder work with IP Video Signal as the Source? We have the source audio/video as compressed IP signal (MPEG2-TS). We need to convert this IP signal into Flash and live stream using Flash Media Servers. Do you have a live IP video transcoder solution for this purpose?

you will have to configure CCM to have IPC as a phone device, just as any other phone.
there are also a few SRST steps.
please see the following links for IPC/CCM configuration and IPC/SRST configuration:

  • Simple Automated batch video transcoding

    Hi,
I am very new to FCS, all I want to do is have it scan my S3 mounted drive on my desktop, if there is content present grab that video and transcode it to MPEG4-webcasting, then place it into another S3 mounted drive (using expand drive to mount S3 to desktop). I have tried creating all my devices and scans/automations etc, I get errors saying "Failed to read media" then I try it in a folder it works and gets video but does not transcode it and place it anywhere... Please help me automate a simple video transcode.
    Thank you,
    Alex
    Thank you

Scans are for adding assets incrementally, not so much for simple transcoding (though they can be made to trigger transcodes of the assets that are scanned). What you want to do is set up watch folders for each type of transcode or destination. Then for each watcher, make a Copy response that transcodes to the format and destination. You will need to make each transcode setting you wish to use active for the destination devices you wish to send encoded files to. Add a Delete response to the Watcher stacks if you want to remove a file after it has been transcoded.

  • Video transcoding is a must !

    Hi there guys
so I am trying to watch a video in the library but as usual it takes a year to load...
that is really hurting the platform is it render the videos almost in usable
a simple fix is to apply video transcoding like plex, and it should be easy since the number of supported formats is already low
what this does is it detect what device are you watching from, chose an appropriate size to view, and finally dynamically change the res depending on your internet speed
what do you guys think ?

Is it required to have a primary key defined for the table by adding sequence no column. No, sequence is a database object independet of any column. So you can use that for any columns PK or not.
what all are the performance impact of adding a primary key? Adding a PK you are adding an index. Every time you change the table de index must be updated.
or if a primary key is not available. If you use just full table scans to access tha table, never mind. But if you want to read data through a code o something like that, the PK index may help you.

  • Video transcoding (5800 XM) - AVC

    Hi!
I love my new Nokia 5800 XM and would like to copy some videos onto the phone for watching on the go. I'm lazy so I decided to just use PC Suite to convert them. Have in mind I'm using 7.0, since I hated Nokia Music and switched back to a version that does what it's supposed to. I'm also with v21.0.0.25 firmware on the phone as I can't get the v30 update yet.
I picked the High quality setting, which transcoded my video to 624x352, avc video and aac audio. Unfortunately, the video won't play back on the phone - I get that lovely "Unable to play either sound or video clip. Trying to play partially" message and then it plays back the sound.
What's up with that? I thought the 5800 was supposed to play back H.264.
    Thanks

I don't know about the 5800 but the N97 just refuses to play back AVC (h264) at all. Since they share a lot in common I'm guessing that whatever is wrong is affecting both devices.
I hope a new firmware will fix it.
OVI Suite 1.1 doesn't convert the videos into H264 it uses MPEG-4 so they play correctly but be mindful of the high quality setting. A 720p (HD) AVI file I had that was 300 MB was converted down to the correct resolution but the ending file is over 900MB!, which doesn't make any sense at all. The High quality setting seems to use an extremely ridiculous high bitrate.

  • Video Transcoding on IPad

    Hi,
I have a desktop application on an iMac which would work as a local server. I have an iPad which would connect to this server over a local wi-fi network.
That desktop application would be containing videos.
Now, how do I transcode that video to a format that iOS supports ( ios 5.0 onwards ).?
    Thanks in advance.

I heard the next generation will have a webcam. But what about those of us who have this generation? I hope they make an external one. This was the main reason I opted for an iPad rather than a net book. Anyone hear anything about this?

  • Free video transcoding

I received an e-mail a few minutes ago announcing a free site where you can upload up to a 20GB file and they will transcode it to any one of quite a few formats.
    http://www.freeencoding.com/
It is associated with Videoblocks.com which I happily subscribe to.
It didn't like the MOV files from my all I-Frame codec (encoding failed), so I tried changing the extension of an MTS file (which it didn't recognize) to .mp4 and uploaded it, asking to have it encoded as a MOV file.
I don't know if this is a handy web site, almost completely usless, or what? It allowed me to save the converted file to my dropbox folder which I thought was rather interesting.
The conversion to MOV seemed to work, or I thought it did, but my Quicktime player didn't like it much. I had to download some plug-in or other. I don't really know what it did but it eventually played it.
I then tried a different MOV file (not all I-Frame) and it failed to convert also.
I find the concept of a free conversion site interesting, but I can't quite wrap my head around the usefulness of it.
    What do you think?

    True Jim to some degree.
Certainly when I was trying to edit AVCHD footage in its early days transcoding was the only way, until Edius was released in a form that could edit the native footage easily and as usual it was rock solid, at the time Premiere was useless.
The only way I could use Premiere was to use Cineform avi's, I did try as many free transcodes as I could but Cineform was by far the best at that time.
A few years later and we still have AVCHD issues with Premiere, sad

  • UT Video Codec settings for AVCHD .mts transcoding

    Howdy,
Been trying for a while to track down a jittery playback issue (as if frames are randomly held or skipped) when editing .mts files.
Jittery in PPcc and also after exporting to whatever... and especially using Youtube and Vimeo export presets.
VLC media player plays the .mts source files smoothly right off the SD card or HDD/SSD... most of the time, occasionally there is a hiccup but nothing like in PP.
The clips that do this are pretty much all of the panning clips and shot in either 24fps or 60fps 1080p.
I have seen this now on 2 different systems with different collections of .mts footage out of 2 different cameras.
Mine is a PC (running WIN7 i7 3770K 3.5Ghz, 16GB, GTX 660) and the other is a more powerful Mac with 32GB RAM (accustomed to smoothly dealing with RED footage).
I came across an Adobe suggestion to convert to a UTVideo codec ( http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/audio-video-glitches-avchd.html#id_49687 ) to deal with AVCHD... but it really didn't give much helpful info beyond the link to where it could be downloaded.
I tried the suggestion, downloaded the codec suite, made a preset in Media Encoder and transcoded, but it plays even worse than the AVCHD does natively (VLC doesn't recognize that codec for testing)
Does anyone have any suggestions on the best settings for the UT Video transcoding and/or hardware/software settings for the smoothest PP playback of .mts clips? I see in the forums here and elsewhere that lots of folks have various problems working with .mts footage in PP... I am hoping there is a functional solution beyond what I have unsuccessfully tried:
setting playback to 1/4 or 1/2
    rendering the sequance/timeline
    transcoding to .mp4/DNxHD
    clearing render files
    maximizing ram for PP usage
    closing all other apps
importing the whole 'private' folder from the SD card (which I can't seem to get PP to recognize anyway, it only will import the individual .mts files as far as I can tell)
    changed power options
turbo boost for the i7 on or off
and some other trial-and-errors gleaned from the forums that I can't recall at the moment
Any suggestions for what to try next or the proper settings for using the UT Video codec would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks/Cheers!

    Thanks Fuzzy!
Great article and it led to some more testing with a couple different lens, pan speeds, shutter speeds and frame rate combos... but still I am not finding anything definitive, I still get random, choppy/juddery playback (never seems to occur in the same place each time).
I have the frame drop indicator on and it says all is good (no dropped frames).
VLC and PotPlayer tend to play the clips off the card just fine, but does once in a while skip... a data transfer problem? I have played off the SD card and SSD main drive and my media HDD.
Caught a recent thread with others having sudden choppy playback, might be related?  http://forums.adobe.com/message/5938794#5938794
    I have PPro CC 7.2.0 (46)
But the suggestion to clear cache and reset preferences didn't seem to make a difference on my machine.
    Still ???
Going to try playing the same clips on a friends SUPER Mac and see what happens... although he sees the same thing with the .mts footage he already has.
    Onward!

  • Better for Video Editing? MBP 13" or 15" w/9600M GT

I am planning on purchasing a Macbook Pro for relatively extensive use of Final Cut Pro (HD video) along with possibly some light Motion work and video transcoding. In addition I will be using it for photo editing and web editing. I don't plan on using it for any high-end gaming.
I will be purchasing a $200 24" external monitor to use most of the time along with external keyboard and mouse (so MBP screen size isn't an issue), but I need the portability and don't have the funds to purchase an additional dedicated desktop yet.
I am having trouble deciding between the 13" and the 15", mainly due to conflicting opinions I've been hearing over the importance of a dedicated graphics card for video editing. Salespeople at the Apple store tell me it's important and I should get the 15". Research online yielded heated forum arguments over whether it really makes a difference or not.
The price difference is quite significant though at the configurations I picked ($765) so I am seeking advice here for whether people think the cost difference is really justified for my needs. Note that both configurations include 4GB of RAM, smallest hard drive option (i've got external drives) and AppleCare protection.
Pricing with education discount after tax:
    13" 2.26GHz - $1520
    15" 2.66GHz w/9600M GT 256MB - $2285
*Is there a real difference in video editing performance and if so, is it really worth an extra $765? Or is there a better option that I'm not considering?*

    Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Are you planning on making any money at this or are you only in it for fun? Have you ever edited before? Have you ever edited with FCS before? What of the 44 billion HD formats are you planning on editing? Do you have a camera? What format does it record? If it's a flash media based device, what's your back up strategy? How are you planning to externally monitor the HD material ? What are you planning to use as media drives as the system drive should not be used for media capture or playback?
Still, I guess I come down on the side of "it doesn't matter as neither one is a serious editing machine". If I was in the market for a laptop and was limited to the current apple lineup, the only machine of interest is the 17" MacBookPro. The other two MacBookPros you are considering have no expresscard slot and come only with glossy screens - both are serious deficiencies in my world.
I do plan on using this computer professionally. I am a recent college graduate but do have professional FCS editing experience under my belt. However my work was done using both school and employer resources. I do have an archive of work in Mini DV(HDV) and AVCHD formats. I don't currently own an HD camera, however will likely be purchasing one in the near future. As far as externally monitoring HD material, what else would I need other than the 24" external monitor (perfectly capable of full HD) or a separate HDTV? In addition to several older usb2 external drives for backup I do have a 1TB 7200rpm external capable of FW800 and eSATA that I would use as a media drive.
I currently have an old 17" dell notebook with a glossy screen. The screen hasn't really bothered me, but the size and weight of the notebook has. And while the 17" MBP is a little lighter and smaller than my old dell, I would still prefer a 13" or 15". But from the opinions I've been hearing I'm steering away from the 13" and fully realize the downsides to the lack of ExpressCard slot in the current 15" as well. Still wondering while Apple decided to remove it.
    MartinR wrote:
If budget is a primary constraint, then consider a refurbished 15" or 17" MBP from Apple, or a used MBP from a reputable supplier.
I hadn't checked into the refurbished options, but now that I did, I found a nice 15" (late 2008 unibody) configuration that would provide a lot more value for the buck. For about $550 more than the new 13" config I would get a faster processor, 2" bigger screen, 9600M 512mb GPU, double the internal storage, removable battery as well as the ExpressCard slot (even though its not listed in specs, it's there). The only trade off I can see is battery life.

  • Convert Video Switch in Desktop Software

What happens when I use  the convert video switch in the Desktop Software when I am syncing videos to and from playbook.  Having problems playing video clips tagged as AVI.  Get error message on Playbook when I go to play the clips.  Assuming not a true AVI or using a 3rd party codec or something along that line.  Will play on computers but not the Playbook.  Will the convert video switch in the Desktop Software solve the problem.  Tried to use but it appeared to start to "convert"  all videos in file to upload to Playbook so I cancelled.  Any suggestion?  Thanks, Brian

  • PPro2 best bitrates for transcoding in AME to DVD

Hello. I have created a 165-minute movie (including 8 minutes of motion menus) to be authored with menus/chapters in TMPG Authoring Works 4.  I'm exporting from PPro2 via Adobe Media Encoder for transcoding to mp2, and have space left over due to my current bitrate settings: 1.5 minimum, 6 target, 8 maximum. The resulting master will be factory-replicated with glass master.  Audio will be transcoded to stereo AC3 only; no subtitles.
TMPG is showing that my current movie size is 7.323GB.  I would like to increase my bitrate settings in AME for the best possible visual quality, but I've read various limit recommendations of 7, 8, or at most 9mbps for the max setting.   I will burn to Verbatim DVD+R DL which shows a usable space of 8.025GB. Can I assume that factory replicating will avoid DVD player compatability problems due to high bitrates?
My Bit Budget Calculator v.2 gives a maximum video-only bitrate of 9.352mbps, average bitrate of 6.594, and a video-only target bitrate of 6.146.  The target number is easily doable, but I wonder if I dare boost the max to 9mbps (which Bit Budget Calculator says should not be exceeded), while keeping the minimum at 1.5
Any advice about bitrates will be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi Jim et al.
I wanted to update this thread since I figured out where my problems originated and how to solve them.  I received advice from Adobe forum, videohelp.com, and doom9.org, and I am grateful to all those who commented.
First, Ann, my last WinXP re-installation was in 11/08.  Lacking an XP CD, it required taking my computer to a shop for hours of billable work, so I am not eager to repeat that.  My experiences since Sept.2010 suggest that my computer was not causing the various problems.
I had been getting various artifacts in my AVI lossless encoding using Lagarith and UT.  There is a "gallery" of screenshots of these artifacts at:
    http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/326242-artifacts-created-by-Lagarith-UT-unable-to-impor t-into-HC?p=2021174#post2021174
I attempted my same workflows in PremiereCS3, but again got artifacts.  Poisondeathray wrote: "I think this is a PP2 problem . The lagarith artifact looks very familiar - I remember reading about incompatibilities with PP2. I don't recall seeing any of these after CS4 or 5."  A thread at doom9 commented on PPro2's shortcomings:  http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=107558  This thread includes the suggestion: "I choose Microsoft AVI. Then I go to the video menu, and choose None for the codec."  But for me none of the "uncompressed" settings ever worked--the output was always gibberish.
Through trial and error, I found that Huffyuv (version 211 only) produced no (or the fewest) artifacts.  Huffyuv 211 worked for me, so I've been using it for processing crucial movies and for archiving.
I had been getting repeated error messages when trying to use an AviSynth script in HC-025.  MT mode was not needed in the script, after all.  Poisondeathray wrote: "If you used lagarith or UT directly from PPro2, it will be RGB and you need to convert to YV12 , if it's interlaced add interlaced=true
    Avisource("F:\Exports\CopyofMontage1.post.avi")
    ConvertToYV12()
    or
    Avisource("F:\Exports\CopyofMontage1.post.avi")
    ConvertToYV12(interlaced=true)
The second script worked for me.  For future readers, I stress the importance of  filling-in HC's output and log names+locations before encoding, and of selecting "Make DVD compliant."  Here are the settings for my letterboxed 4:3 movie:
Having learned how to use HC-025, I ended up not using it in my workflow.  Since I definitely wanted to use TMPG Authoring Works 4 (TAW4) for authoring, I brought three samples into it for comparison:
    1) plain AVI exported directly from PPro2 with no lossless encoding.  2) AVI with Huffyuv-211 lossless encoding.  3) AVI with Huffyuv-211 processed through HC-025.   #3 produced the least clean footage--HC added barely visible "borders" around the feet of letters in text, an artifact that was not present in #1 and #2.  Since #1 and #2 looked the same, I ended up using #2: AVI with Huffyuv-211 imported into TAW4.
TAW4 with its onboard Intercom MPEG-Video Transcoder and its video settings probably made a great contribution to my DVD's visual quality.  TAW4's video settings are not obvious; they're at the upper left when in "Source" view.  For each Track, click Settings>Video, and make your selections.  8000 bitrate is the highest recommended by Craig Hanna at DiscMakers, with 1550 bitrate as the minimum (which answers one of my earliest questions in 9/10), and 6050 for average bitrate for my particular file size.  Then click Video Encoder Advanced Settings and choose Highest (with error correction).  Here are my settings for my 172-minute DVD-9 (grab lower-right corner and stretch image to read better):
    Thank you.  --Best regards, SamB.
