IP Virtualization - Outlook 2010 unable autoconfigure

Hello!
I have a problem with Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010 on the MS Windows Server 2008 R2 RDS (RD Session Host) with users sessions IP-Virtualization. Outlook does not detect username (and email address) when user launch Outlook first time. If user
manually enter all user parameters then Outlook works fine, but Outlook must do it automatically (Outlook_unable_detect_username.jpg). Without IP-Virtualization on the RD Session Host Outlook 2010 successfully detect username when first launched (Outlook_success_detect_username.jpg).
DHCP-server - Cisco Catalist Switch 3750.
Help me, please, with this problem.
Thanks,
Andrew.
P.S. I unable attach the images to request

Hi!
I do not agree that this topic should be moved to Exchange 2010 because without RDS IP-Virtualization Outlook Autoconfiguration test processed successfully. And with RDS IP-Virtualization after Outlook manually
configuration autoconfiguration test successfull too.

Tried rebuilding the outlook profile and indexing but still unable to find any pointers.
    Thanks

Already tried rebuilding index and profile... Do you think the below will work any idea ? i checked the below entry is not listed under below location so if i will create that and set it to 0 will that work ?
    1)       Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard, and type “REGEDIT”. This will open the Windows Registry Editor.
     2)       Browse to the following: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search"
     3)       You will manually have to reset the value of “Prevent Indexing Outlook” to “0” (without the quotes). To do this, right click on the “Prevent Indexing Outlook” key,
select “Modify…”, then change the value data to “0”.
     4) Close the registry editor.

  • Outlook 2010 gives error when opening a PowerPoint attachment.

Outlook 2010 gives error when opening a PowerPoint attachment.
    Hi All,
We have several VIP employees that are getting the following error on all PowerPoint documents that come as attachments from Outlook.
I have researched and tried the following steps and verified these settings are already applied.
I did find a work around but not a fix and our security team will NOT allow me to change this setting however if I uncheck the setting all employees can open the outlook attachment.
Any other ideas on a fix for this if I am unable to uncheck Enable Protected View.

    Hi Matthew,
This is a perennial problem, here is a thread which has a deep discussion about this issue:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/07f710a5-a6ca-4256-8f27-6aac41a6b37e/outlook-2010-unable-to-open-word-excel-and-power-point-attachments-from-an-email?forum=outlook
It looks like nobady really find a solution there, the only workaround is what you have found - change the protected view setting in Trust Center. You will lose some security by doing this but it seems to be the only solid solution currently.

    Hi,
Unlike earlier versions of Outlook that store the auto-complete list in a file on your computer, Outlook 2010 stores the auto-complete list as a hidden message in your primary message store:

  • Unable to add account to Outlook 2010 for email address under custom domain

I am unable to add a new account in Outlook 2010 for an email account set up under a custom domain.
Can anyone explain why login credentials that work for outlook.com (successful access to email inbox) return an authentication failure (401 error) when used to test connectivity via https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com?
    Details:
I set up a custom domain at https://domains.live.com and did the following DNS configuration steps at my web hosting company following instructions from domains.live.com:
    Created custom MX record
Created CNAME record [name:] autodiscover.jrergonomics.com [value:] autodiscover.outlook.com.
I created email addresses at domains.live.com > jrergonomics.com > Member accounts and tested by successfully logging in to outlook.com.
When I try to add either account to Outlook 2010, I get a popup box with this information:
    Title: "Windows Security"
    Connecting to [email protected]
    [[email protected]]
    [ ] Remember my credentials
                                       [   OK   ]  [  Cancel
The credentials that I use successfully to log in to outlook.com don't work here; I get the popup box 3-4 times and then the Outlook 2010 Add New Account dialog displays an error:
"An encrypted connection to your mail server is not available. Click Next to attempt using an unencrypted connection."
Clicking Next results in an error message:
    "Problem Connecting to Server"
I have tried verifying the connectivity using https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com:

  • Unable to see markups in Outlook 2010 attachment preview

    Hi,
I am unable to see markup tags which were done in Word 2010 in the Outlook 2010 attachment preview window. The word file normally gets marked up and sent as an attachment. Most of the time the attachment preview will highlight the markup over the words and
when the mouse is hovered over it will show the actual comment. For a couple of my users, this has stopped working.
When they double-click on the attachment they also cannot see the comments. However, if they save it to the local or network drive and then open the file all the markups will automatically appear.
As a test I asked them to send me the email which had this problem to see if this happens on my Outlook and I cannot see the markups either. So I guess something must have happened with the Word file?
Any ideas what this could be? The documents were originally composed in Word 2010 as far as I know. I have also created a test markup file and emailed this to myself and this shows the highlights fine.
I attach a picture of when its working well.
But with the documents that my users have this does not show.
    Any suggestions really appreciated.

    Hi,
What if we copy all the content from the problematic Word document and paste it to a new blank document, save and attach it to an email, will you see the markup?
Please let me know the result.

  • Outlook 2010 Client - "unable to connect to retrieve additional data" for some Distribution lists

We have a mix of Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010 clients in our organization.
Users with an outlook 2010 client are having issues with a number (not all) of our distribution lists.
Issues: When selecting a distribution list in the new message 'to' fiedl, a 'message tip' appears with the name of the DL and 'contains xx recipients'.
However, when attempting to expand the DL (selecting the + sign) the following prompt appears "Cannot perfrom the requested operation. The command selected is not valid for this recipient. The operation failed"
When selecting the DL through the outlook address book the memberlist is empty and has a mail tip "unable to connect to retrieve additional data".
The DL's were all created in a 2003 environment.
We are currently setting up a 2010 environment, and all DL's were created prior to any schema updates etc.
Of note, users experience the issue, but access the list through OWA don't have the issue.

Please also perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
    1. Temporarily turn off firewall and antivirus program on the problematic machine for a test.
    2. Remove the Outlook profile completely and create a new profile.
    3. Login on the same mailbox by Outlook 2010 on another machine to check the result.
If the issue persists, please open Event Viewer and check whether any error message exists. If so, please post it here for research.
    Thanks.

  • Unable to add Exchange account after upgrading Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2010

    Hello,
We have a number of users that we have upgraded Outlook from 2003 to Outlook 2010.
I am now trying to add an exchange account to these machines, but it doesn't work.
The exchange setup is correct, as we have some machines that came with Outlook 2010/2013 out of the box, and the exchange accounts work fine on them.
The first error that appears when adding the account is:
I have tried removing Outlook 2010, and then uninstalling Outlook 2003, reboot and re-install 2010. Same error.
I have tried setting up a new profile for the user, same error.
Our Exchange host pointed me to this  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2264398 which initially looked quite promising, as it describes
the issue I am seeing. However, after carrying out the fix, I get the same error.
I checked in event viewer, and these issues seem to be relevant to the issue:

    Hi Stephen,
What’s your Exchange server version? Exchange 2013 or Exchange 2010?
Since your original Outlook 2010 and 2013 users can connect to Exchange server and work well, I think the configuration(Autodiscover service, Outlook Anywhere etc.) in server side should be correct. Please make sure your
new Outlook profile for Outlook 2010 have been configured with the following points:
    1. The Encrypt data between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange Server is checked.
    2. Restart the Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service in Exchange server. And make sure all other Exchange services are running.
Please check whether the problematic users can configure an Outlook account and access their mailbox in the original Outlook 2010 client or not.
    Thanks,
    Winnie Liang

  • Unable to access BCM 2010 DB with Outlook 2010 after running compatibility pack for Outlook 2013

After reading about the Description of Business Contact Manager compatibility pack for Outlook at this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2793723 it clearly states "Business Contact Manager for Microsoft Outlook is a compatibility pack that enables
Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 and Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2010 to run in Microsoft Outlook 2010 and Microsoft Outlook 2013. Business Contact Manager for Outlook (BCM) also supports using Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 in a side-by-side
installation."  This link also states "General product fixes, including stability and performance improvements."
So, I was hoping for some stability and performance improvements but desired to continue running from Outlook 2010.  After running this downloaded compatibility pack it had little messages other than completed. If I try to run it again it says the database
is already updated.  however, now I cannot open the BCM DB in Outlook 2010.  when I try to connect to it from Outlook 2010 BCM it only opens a small window with no message, only a yellow exclamation sign.  It also won't allow me to restore the
    back up.
Can I undo what the compatibility pack program did to my BCM 2010 DB?
Now it won't allow me to restore a DB from two days ago. It gives this error "Access is denied due to a password failure. RESTORE FILELIST is terminating prematurely".  I know the password is correct.
Please help, anyone? Now I'm starting to freak out a bit.  I am going to reinstall BCM and pray.
I was able to restore the two day old DB by not entering a password. Odd since I know I backed up using a password.

  • Unable to sync contacts and calendar to outlook 2010 or iphone 5

I work in IT and several of our clients are have trouble syncing contacts and calendar to outlook 2010 or iphones.
I have uninstall itunes completely from the computer, deleted the backup and clear the sync history nothing seems to be working.
Is there are problem with the latest itunes and if so when will the fix be release???

This is exactly what I am dealing with. Blackberry Link will work great for awhile and then something happens and I can not sync my contacts. I have spent many hours and days trying to fix this to no avail. BB support has been great but I still go through a long process each time. This week I finally gave up and started using the Microsoft Hotmail Outlook Connector since my company does not offer Active Sync or Exchange. It works flawlessly. I would dedfinitely check it out. If you swith to a Widows Phone or Android this is one of the options they recommend you use.
In a nutshell Link is awful and BB should be ashamed of the product they put on the market. I will only use it for syncing pictures and documents. Good luck!

  • Unable to open personal contact list Outlook 2010

Error when opening a personal contact list.  To my knowledge it has not been edited in a newer version of Outlook as we all use Outlook 2010.  Even tried restoring from 6 month old backup when it was supposed to have worked.  Any ideas how
    to get past this?
    Error:
this contact group has been edited with a newer version of outlook and contains too many members to display.

Well. Does the DL have more than 5000 contacts in it?  If so, that may cause a problem due to Exchange's 5000 recipient limit for sent emails.
Where is personal distrubution list stored in your scenario? Stored in OST and sync with mailbox, or backup in the local PST file?
If other contact groups and contacts can be opened just fine, it seems the issue may occur if the problematic contact groups is corrupted itself.
You can take a chance to open it via MFCMAPI tool. If it even cannot be open, I think it cannot be recovered unless we do a single mailbox recovery.

  • Unable to log into Outlook 2010 on Desktop

I am able to log into Outlook on line, but when I put in the same password on my desktop Outlook 2010, it just brings up the username and password question again.

    Hi,
Please refer to Ed's suggestion to clear cached credentials in Control Panel and restart Outlook with correct username and password, then click Remember my credential to save it.
If it doesn't work, please make sure Always prompt for logon credentials is unchecked and Logon network security is set to Negotiate Authentication in the Security tab of Account Settings.

  • Unable to sign Outlook 2010 VBAProject

Is anyone else having problems digitally signing VBA projects with current Outlook 2010?
I'm using Outlook 14.0.7106.5003, with all updates. I originally ran into this problem with a new cert from an enterprise CA, but I get the same problem with a newly created self-signed cert. It happens on multiple PCs at multiple sites (in different domains).
It's easy (for me) to reproduce:
Create a new self-signed cert via Office 2010 Tools > Digital Certificate for VBA Projects
Starting with no existing VBAProject.OTM, open Outlook > Developer > Visual Basic and paste any Outlook VBA into ThisOutlookSession. I've had the same problem with my original code, as well as trivial code like:
    Sub HelloWorldMessage()
        Dim msg As Outlook.MailItem
        Set msg = Application.CreateItem(olMailItem)
        msg.Subject = "Hello World!"
        msg.Display
        Set msg = Nothing
    End Sub
Save it and digitally sign it with the new self-signed cert
Close Outlook and save VBAProject.OTM when prompted
    Re-open Outlook.
    I always get an error:
An error occurred while attempting to verify the VBA project's signature.  Macros will be disabled.
and when I open the project in Outlook, it shows as not signed. If I re-sign it, with either the self-signed cert or my CA cert, I get the same results.
FWIW, I don't have the problem on one Outlook 2007 (non-domain) install I have access to, also using a new self-signed cert.
This much should be simple. Why won't it work? Is this a problem introduced in a recent Outlook 2010 update?
    Thanks, in advance.
    John

I have no idea if you are doing anything wrong. Those are basically the same steps I used.  I changed the save order - and I only used run as admin once, after signing the macro, not to sign the macro.
selected Tools -> Digital Signature -> Choose...
selected My Test Certificate (Outlook then showed the project signed with this certificate)
    Save it.
    closed VBA
closed Outlook, and chose Yes to save the VBA project <== i think this is a clue because i get this even though I saved the VBA before closing the editor.
I reopen outlook using run as admin and get the allow certificates dialogs, at which point i always trust each one.
    Open Outlook normally.
Macro security is set to none.
    Create cert and sign macro.
    Click Save then close Editor.
Set security to ask about signed macros.
Close Outlook. If asked to save vba, click Yes.
Restart outlook using run as administrator. Dialog comes up for each addin, asking me to trust certificates. I choose 'trust all from publisher'. Macro works.
Restart Outlook normally. Because i choose to always trust the macro, the dialog doesn't come up. macro works.
Instead of Step 7's run as admin, if I copied the cert to trusted authorities - then the 'trust macros' dialog should come up running outlook as a normal user. Doing both would have no adverse affect.

  • Outlook 2010 "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable" error

    Hi,
We recently introduced a Exchange 2010 server into our Exchange 2003 enviroment but had to stop migrating users over to it after it became appartent that users using Outlook 2010 could not switch on their Out Of Office, getting an "Your automatic reply settings
cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable" error. However users on the new 2010 can set OOF if they use OWA or Outlook 2003!
Running the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration shows no errors with the Log tab showing Autodiscover succeeded and the Results tab showing all the correct values, including a OOF URL of
/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml">https://<servername>/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml into IE gives a XML file with a 600 error code.
I have looked at loads of 'solutions' on the Internet but cannot get this working, anyone have any suggestions?
