IP Whitelist for large iPad Deployment

I have a large iPad deployment coming up in the UK. Who can I contact to get the institutions IP whitelisted for a short time so we can create multiple Apple ID's in a timely manner? Thanks

Your best bet is to get in touch with the education or enterprise support.  They will be able to provide you with the necessary form to request whitelisting.  The link below has the number to call for UK.  Hope this helps.

  • 6.0.1 ready for large scale deployment?

I have a 210 we are in the process of migrating to, at the end of the migration we will have 700 or so 2800 IOS firewalls. We are half way through the process and already MARS is having CPU issues, although I think this may be bug related. Is 6.0.1 ready for a large scale deployment and heavy load? Im hoping this may bring the cpu down a little but I do not want to introduce other issues.
    Thanks

I ended up doing a clean install of a MARS50, originally 4.3.6, and still have problems with graphgen shutting down.
I have no support on my MARS 50 so I'm stuck waiting for a possible future upgrade beyond 6.0.1. It's odd that the same ISO install gives different results on the same hardware. MARS in not exactly an "appliance" like a PIX but still...ISO based installations should produce identical installations

  • The best AP for large warehouse deployment ?

    Hi,
    Hope you peeps can assist.
New design / installation at a warehouse....
What is the best / recommended AP for a warehouse with shelving 10m high and 1.8m appart  and a ceiling at about 11.5m? Warehouse is 129m x 97m, about  60% of the floor will be shelving and the rest offices with a ceiling of 3m.
My concern is the area where the shelving will be utilized and scanners to be used for stock control. The goods on the shelves will differ from plastics to metal in wooden crates and normal boxes.
Thank you in advance for your advice and recommendation. Please also state whether you recommend internal or external antennae.
    David

That is hard to tell you exactly what you need to do, but for that height, I would use an external antenna, the office if fine with internal.  I would use either the 3702e or 2702e for the install.  Most of my clients in the manufacturing/distribution has gone with the 3702e's.

  • If I download a series that is too large for my iPad on my pc, can I select what individual episode I want to put on my iPad?

Was just wondering if I buy a tv box set in iTunes on my pc, can I transfer it a couple of episodes at a time to my iPad as the box set is to large for my iPads memory?

    Hi Ben Heath,
Yes. I am assuming that the content you are wishing to buy is separated into episodes. In iTunes, you have a few options for syncing TV shows: All, 1 most recent, 3 most recent, 5 most recent, 10 most recent, all unwatched, 1 most recent unwatched, and so on…
For more information on basic syncing, see this resource:

  • One of my sons has an ipad mini and the other a larger ipad.  The one using the mini needs a larger ipad for school, so they need to switch.  They want to do so without losing their individual app progress.  Can I simply switch the SIM cards?

SIM card has nothing to do with your Apple ID or apps.
IOS devices do not store anything on the SIM card.
    BAckup everything on the iPads.
REstore tbe ipad from the backup of the other iPad.
    REpeat for the other one.

  • What's a good Charging Habit for my iPad 3?

I need a good habit for charging my new iPad since the battery drains quickly. Can you help me out? Thanks!

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • The Itunes preview for the ipad sync state shows outdated view

Most of my ipad transactions occur directly on the device and I rarely sync with itunes on my computer.  Once in a blue moon I will plug it in to do some manually manging of apps and large files like movies.  This time when plugging in the device the preview pages that it gives you for the apps on itunes shows a old state with a background that is no longer my background and apps waiting to be installed where they shouldn't be.
Is there anyway to force Itunes to pull the current state of the device?   I have unchecked all boxes that would force any automatic syncing.  It's just that the preview boxes show that when i finally do press the sync button, apps they I don't want will be added. (because there already showing as being on the ipad).  I did some searches for reverse sync but that involves third party apps and I'm not sure if that's what I really need.
This is my first sync with Itunes 12 so some of it may be that.  When viewing the side panel for my ipad in itunes most of the media have a tab both under 'settings' and under 'on my device' .  Apps only has a entry under 'settings' and I seem to remember that 'apps' should also be listed under the 'On my Device' section.
    Thanks

Reboot the computer, try a different usb port, different usb cord. Remove/disable any security software and firewalls.
Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
If that doesn't work, then update iTunes on computer, backup device to iTunes, then restore the device.

  • ITunes Accounts - 1 account for multiple iPads?  Best Practices?

I'm setting up a small deployment of 5 iPads for use in my company.  Could anyone share some tips / best practices as far as iTunes accounts are concerned?
We would like to use one iTunes account to activate all of the iPads and set up / link to each one's AppleCare Protection Plan.  Any apps purchased on any of the 5 iPads need to be billed to one account if possible.
Are there any disadvantages to doing it this way, or would setting up an iTunes account (or some other strategy) for each iPad be a more advantageous route?

One thing comes immediately to mind, if you leave the billing account active on the individual devices ( without, say IPCU restrictions on App or movie Purchases) the device users could bill stuff like movies, apps etc. to the central billing account.  We don't setup the devices with iTunes ( though we don't use Apple Care, so I'm not sure if this is important with Apple Care Protection), and just let the users enter their own iTunes account info.  You could distribute Apps using the new Volume Purchase Program; apps could be centrally deployed to the various devices, billed to one account, and the end user wouldn't be able to individually bill the centralized account.  We also tell users they can put on the device whatever they want, but must perform any iTunes backups on home computers.  If something goes wrong, we just reset the device to factory and start over; the user must restore whatever they had on the device from their backup. This way we also manage to avoid having to manage iTunes stores on work computers.  We do require encryption of iTunes backups via IPCU policy.

  • What is the typical amount of time for an iPad to fully charge?

I have a brand new iPad, third generation, WiFi/LTE, 64 GB.  It seems to take up to 6-7 hours to fully recharge.  I am concerend, only because I had a first generation iPad, and it would charge in 2 1/2 hours.  Is this normal?

  • Do you prefer a stand-alone keyboard or a snap-in one, for your IPAD?

    Hello all; thanks for reading:
I'd like to buy a keyboard for my Ipad and I am up in the air between the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard.
The former seems like it would be easier to use while in bed, as I could propr up the IPAD away from me, while holding the keyboard in my lap.
However, for work-use and when travelling, the ease of snapping the IPAD upright into the Logitech seems like a nice solution too.
I could just use the Logitech "away" from my IPAD as well, but its quite a bit larger and cumbersome to use on its own, as compared to the very small and light Apple one.
    Thoughts?

To type this reply, I'm using a Logitech Tablet stand alone bluetooth keyboard that I got on Woot.com for $19.95. I can type much faster than using the onscreen keyboard (that frustrates me to no end). I also like getting my up, down, right and left arrow keys back. It's very useful when using my Apple TV to type in e-mail address, password, etc. It is small, light, and easy to slip in a tote bag with my iPad. I'm a failure at typing on screen...and it takes forever to correct my mistakes; that is, if I catch my mistakes before hitting the Send button.

Has anyone found anything that would make a good case for the iPad Camera Connection Kit? i'm afraid I will lose mine if i don't put it in something, but i do want to keep it small

  • Will old iPad apps have to be rewritten for the iPad 3?

When running apps designed for the first two iPads on the iPad 3, what will happen? Will they:
    - look exactly the same as on the iPad I and II, so therefore will have to be rewritten to take advantage of the higher resolution?
    - *automatically* use the higher resolution without rewriting?
    - show up in a tiny window in the middle of a sea of black, like when you run iPhone apps on an iPad?

And I would presume that will also mean that using iPhone apps on the iPad will look even worse and maybe need a 3X key instead of 2X (or something like that)
If Apple was smart they told app developers a long time ago to make their apps scalable for larger resolutions

One of my favorite things about developing for iOS using Xcode is the Simulator. It runs any of the iOS devices simulated right on your Mac. If you don't have a hardware device to test your application on, the Xcode simulator will surely be your best friend.
So to answer your question less vaguely, yes. You can own the iPhone 5s and develop for the 6. There is no real release information of the iPhone 6 at the time anyways, so I would not let it play too large of a factor in your decision.
