IP10 - Behaviour of "Start in cycle"
Hi experts!
We have a Maintenance plan where we have Scheduled Calls every month. We have made several changes in routing and instead of modify the routing of every order generated in order to update the orders we have set status TECO (Technically closed) and we have start in cycle with completion date 31.12.2008 in order to generate again calls for 2009. But the system only generate calls after the last maintenance call completed (maintenance order with TECO). We dont understant this behaviour because with another plan it works perfectly. Is there some technical requirement to generate again calls already scheduled.
Thank you.
Thank you for your advice. It´s not checked. I'll try to explain better this issue. I don´t urderstand why two plans with the same parameters doesn´t work in the same way:
Plan A and Plan B with the same scheduling parameters (same strategy), same maintenance plan parameters. Only few differences in the routing of each plan. In each plan I have this calls in 2009:
--> ...
--> Plan Date (01.01.2009) / Completion Date (16.04.2009) / Status (Scheduled Complete)-TECO Order
--> Plan Date (01.02.2009) / Completion Date (16.04.2009) / Status (Scheduled Complete)-TECO Order
--> Plan Date (01.03.2009) / Completion Date (16.04.2009) / Status (Scheduled Complete)-TECO Order
--> Plan Date (01.04.2009) / Completion Date (16.04.2009) / Status (Scheduled Complete)-TECO Order
--> Plan Date (01.05.2009) / Completion Date (16.04.2009) / Status (Scheduled Complete)-TECO Order
--> Plan Date (01.06.2009) / Call Date (24.05.2009) / Status (Scheduled Hold)-No Order
--> Plan Date (01.07.2009) / Call Date (24.06.2009) / Status (Scheduled Hold)-No Order
--> Plan Date (01.08.2009) / Call Date (24.07.2009) / Status (Scheduled Hold)-No Order
I start in cycle in both plans deleting calls with status waiting with completion date 31.12.2008 then in plan A generates again calls for 2009 since january to May with status "Scheduled Called" and for June, July and August with "Scheduled Hold" (OK) but for plan B only generates:
--> 01.05.2009 (CyclStart Save to call)
--> 01.06.2009 (Scheduled Hold)
--> 01.07.2009 (Scheduled Hold)
--> 01.08.2009 (Scheduled Hold)
I don't understand why?¿

Change/restart start of cycle for strategy maintenance plan MPLA- STADT
Dear experts,
is it possible to change the start of cycle date in strategy maintenance plan (MPLA- STADT).
The start of cycle was entered incorrectly into the strategy maintenance plan (IP42)
Maint. plan was already started
...and called: Service orders are already created
The existing maint. plan should be used with a new cycle start date.
By using u201Crestartu201D in IP10, a new start of cycle date is entered and the orders are called correctly.
But the cycle start date is not updated in the data base: MPLA- STADT
Why?
Regards,
PhilippDear all,
I opened a OSS message. SAP replied that this is not covered by SAP standard. so system works as designed.
SAP:
The described behaviour is the SAP/R3 standard and works as designed.
IP16 only shows this field if it's updated in MPLA-STADT.
The 'Cycle start' resulting of scheduling (IP10) is kept in the table
MHIS (field STADT).
Transaction IP16 takes data from MPLA and does not read the entries
in MHIS. The only value that can therefore be shown as 'cycle start'
is the original value as recorded in MPLA.
Well, this explains why system behaves like it does.
But in my eyes this is not the correct system behavior.
If a maint. plan is restarted, future calls will be calculated based on
the new cycle date - what is ok.
But IP16 indicates the old cycle date!
In my eyes this is not correct because the list will show an incorrect
cycle date.
I was told to take a look at note 11:

Start of cycle date is not taking while scheduling
Hi
I have created a maintainance plan with scheduling indicator TIME and scheduling period 365 days . I am giving start of cycle date as 04-02-2011 but while scheduling the plan it is taking 19-02-2011 as first plan date . my maintainance plan cycle is 15 days.
I want that date as 04-02-2011 . how can I get that.
Regards
KumarThe system is working fine. Once you decide the start cycle date then first plan /Order will come only after the cycle duration from the start cycle date. You can put 15 day before date from 4-2-2011. then you will get first call on desired date.

How to set start of cycle/next planned date at the Maintenance Item level??
Hi All,
We are uploading a bulk of Strategy Maintenance Plans into the system. Each plan has multiple maintenance items and each maintenance item in a plan having different next due dates. Now if we set the Start of cycle at the Maintenance Plan level, then the next due dates of the maintenance items in that plan would be calculated on the basis on Start of Cycle (Common for all) and frequency as set in MPackages in an item Task list. Since each Maintenance item may have different Frequency and next due date, generating a call object while scheduling the plan correctly to satisfy at the Maintenance item level is not seeming possible.
Can someone please suggest as to how do I set the Start of cycle or say Next Planned Date or Last Scheduled date at the Maintenance Item level either through configuration or programmatically.We are working on an SAP 4.6C version.It is urgent!!!hi
i think specifying start of the cycle for each maintenance level is not possible ,since start of the cycle refers to maintenance plan only .
for SAP standard kindly refer the following [link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/94/43a968abc011d395bd00a0c93029cf/content.htm]
it is better to create one maintenance item per maintenance plan,if you want to control each maintenance item independently

Change start of cycle date in maintenance plan
Dear Experts,
We would like to change start of cycle date in maintenance plan. Iwe have rescheduled the plan but the start of cycle date remains the same.
could you please confirm, whether it can be changed. The requirement is because of some Mt plan created with future start date in production (Year-2020) and we want to correct the same.
ThanksDon,
To determine the next maintenance call date you need to tell the system when the last maintenance call occured
Example:
You want the next call date on the 1 June based on a six month cycle. Therefore the last maintenance date would have been 1 January (assuming key date scheduling).
In your case you need to RESTART your single-cycle plan on the 1 January and the system then calculates the next maintenance calls.

How do offset and start in cycle differ? What is basic difference between them?
what is the necessity of having both function in SAP PM?Maintenance package offset
The offset of a maintenance package or maintenance cycle determines the
time after which a maintenance package first becomes due.
You must enter an offset when the first time a maintenance package is to be performed does not correspond with the cycle length.
In the case of multiple counter plans or maintenance cyles,you can use the offset to perform a maintenanc pckage once only, by maintaining the offset
Example
Cycle length of maintenance package:every two years
First time due (offset): after three years
Logically we can say
Start of cycle is Start date of Maintenance plan,
Offset is time after which a maintenance package first becomes due.
Logically you can get detailed help be pressing F1 at the Offset field.Logic behind my answer was F1.

Ipad 2 stuck in start up cycle after IOS 6 update
Is anyone having problems with the update for Ipad 2 to IOS 6? When I did the update via wireless, when it completed the Ipad stayed in the start up cycle i.e. black screen and apple logo. I have tried then to restore via my computer in DFU mode. The device goes through all the correct steps, then I am told from Itunes the device is restarting. The Ipad then cycles back to the start up/ apple logo. I have been able to start the recovery process of setting the Ipad up as a new Ipad or trying to restore a previous saved time, but once the cycle starts again, the device is not recognized. I have tried differnt cables, ports, and both my work and home computer which one is a PC and the other a Mac. One thing that may have started the entire ordeal was before the update I was having problems with the Google maps app. When I tried to use it, it would crash my Ipad. Not sure if it is the problem or not. Prior to the update to IOS 6 and the Google app, everything was going fine.

Problem in starting live cycle
I had installed live cycle with weblogic trial version . I had used turnkey installation.
works good and I can do samples...
But next day when I restarted my computer and try connecting to live cycle through work space . I got a message to make sure the server is available. so I had looked in services and found that weblogic admin service is already started .
I thought of try logging to weblogic admin ui. gone the login page and entered my username and password.. got a message invalid username and password.. I dont remeber turnkey installaion asked for username and password for weblogic. I remember I entered for mysql database configuration...
how can I login into weblogic(reset the password else is there any default username and password)
also how to start the live cycle. I dont want look into weblogic all I need is my workspace should connect to live cycle ..and do my work.Use the built-in super user 'Administrator' with password 'password'.
LiveCycle Workspace ES is a J2EE application that needs a J2EE application server to run. There's no way to just run LiveCycle without running WebLogic. -
Can't open .zip, only starts .cpgz cycle
Firstly, sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong spot, I'm new. But I also heard this problem may be due to leopard.
I was emailed a .zip file that I really want to open but when I try to unzip it only creates a .cpgz file then then ..cpgz or another ..2.zip
I've tried double clicking the .zip and opening normaly and stuffit and opening it in windows xp
BTW it's a file I'll need to open in my xp partition if that makes a difference, (unfortunately I sometimes need to use xp as some apps such as autocad don't run mac) i just don't connect xp to the internet.My user just encountered this zip/cpgz cycle as well, and I think this is what happened.
He was attempting to download a zip file that was only available via BitTorrent. So he downloaded the corresponding 24 KB torrent file and double clicked it. This opened Opera (his default application for torrent files), and the actual 62 MB zip file started downloading. But unlike a conventional downloading file that ends in .download and shows a small progress bar in the icon, the BitTorrent downloading file looks indistinguishable from a completely downloaded file: it ends in .zip and has the zip icon even though it is still downloading. So my user was attempting to unzip a 62 MB file when only about 50 MB had downloaded.
As of this writing, the file is still downloading. But I suspect once completely downloaded, he will be able to unzip the file normally using Stuffit Expander. -
HP 6180c has started power cycling, but only when I set up w wireless
This has worked fines wi fi for years. Now starts cycling on and off. When I reset using #and 6 it works great w egret but when I disconnect ethernet and set up wi fi, after about 5 mins starts cycling power again
Each has a p/w but it is input only once at when I set it up. I get no prompts for p/w since they are in prefs. Is this safe?
Yes, as long as the wireless network required you to enter a password the first time that you connected. -
When I connect a second display both displays start to cycle on and off.
I am connecting a second display that works on both my macbook and macbook pro. When I connect it to my imac, both monitors start blinking on and off.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Message was edited by: Stephen EthanLong story short I solved the problem, and it was totally a model issue. It is the HP w2207, which apparently has a problem with iMac 24 inch, the nvidia graphics card, mini DVi to DVI and 10.4 in particular. You see these two devices, just don't get along very well. The imac tries to auto set the monitor at one resolutions and the monitor tries to auto set itself at another, and they will continue to do this indefinitely. However both when I switched to a VGA cable, which I believe prevents the monitor from auto setting itself, and when I upgraded to 10.5 solved the problem.
Personally I didn't mind the upgrade, as I was planning to do it anyway, and is definitely the better solution as there is noticeable difference in the color between the two cables.
Anyway thanks for the help everyone.

Different behaviour in starting up my programmed app
Hi,
I have developed a little app (TelTool.app) with a listener (tcp) that will display some messages it gets sent from a client, very basic things (programmed using OSX 10.4, xCode and Java/Cocoa: Yes I know this is outdated). Whenever a call comes into my house, the client connects to all computers with TelTool.app and sends them the phone-nr. / address of the caller.
I've set the Target to "Release", built and executed TelTool.app from Finder: Everything is fine so far, The Dock icon bounces whenever a call is incoming. Now, I added the App to startup objects and restarted the computer. Now, the app crashes (it doesnt react) and I have to kill it and manually start it in order for it to work.
Why are there differences when I start an app from finder with double clicking and when I let finder start it at boot time? What could be the mistake?
Thanks!

public void awakeFromNib() {
// Initialize Cocoa things
this.txt_zeit.setStringValue("");

Maintenance Plan: Change Yearly cycle
Hello,
We created maintenance plans for an equipment that has: Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly task.
THe date we initiated this maintenance plan was 6/1/2009. Is there a way to change the Yearly task date to 6/30/2010, but still keep the rest of the cycles the same dates?.
*Note we currently have a s'Schedule date of "0 days"
Thanks.Hi Jay,
I assume that you are using a Time Based Strategy Plan for this. I also assume that you have created Packages of Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly in the Strategy & a Suitable Task list for it.
If you have not done my assumptions, please do them first and then carryout below steps. (Aviod weekly package if you want the date exactly on 06/30/2010, if it is compulsory then you will get approximately yearly package at that time)
After you create a Strategy plan for the Equipment and save.
Set Scheduling Indicator as Time-Key Date. (Possible only with packages in multiplications of Months)
Goto IP10 and Say Start in Cycle & give the Completion date as 6/30/2009 and in the Offset select the package as Yearly.
Now all the dates will adjust based on the requirement.

Hi guys,
Hope you are doing fine...Am just entering into PM module for a new client. Am a MM person and really struggling here.
1) What is the use of the Start button in IP41. In my current client they are asking me to not to hit the START BUTTON while saving IP 41 . But they are asking me to go to IP10 and there they are asking me to give the Start button. What difference does it make to start the maintenance plan in IP41 (or) IP10. What is the idea behind not starting the maintenance plan and then again scheduling it in IP10? Please explain.
2) Also what is "Start in cycle" and Restart used in IP10
3) What is the difference between IP10 and IP30?
Thanks,
Sylvia
Edited by: Sylvia Hernandez on Jul 19, 2010 7:24 AMDear Friend,
IP41 is used to have single cycle plan, where as IP10 is scheduling of single maintenance plan.
start in cycle at IP10 is to have counter to start your maintennace plan.
i mean to say for example, if your equipment frequency is monthly, quaterly, yearly. if you already done monthly maintenance but you want SAP should generate maintenance orders from quaterly onwards, in that case for that particular maintenance plan if you use start in cycle you can set system to generate new orders with quaterlky chceks and continues as follows.
IP30 is dead line monitoring where you can set all your maintenance plans in background for scheduling.
first create variants for your plans and use programme RISTRA20 to set it in background.
Using IP30 you can generate maintenanc eorders for all your plans, where as IP10 is to generate for single plan.
Hope you got an idea.
Regards,
Pardhu
